We saw an Aldabra Giant Tortoise on La Digue today 😀🐢

Free roaming (?) next to the street on La Digue today, L'Union area. Is this someone's pet? I thought they either live caged at Hotels, "free" on Curieuse and of course in Aldabra. Either way, a great sight! 📸

Looking for a job or volunteer

I have been in Seychelles for 3 months now. I'm working remotely as a graphic designer, but I need something to make me go out because I'm losing my mind from being stuck at home.

I can work as a graphic designer and video editor. I also have a passion for agriculture, photography, and videography, and I have some experience in these areas.

I would also love to explore working on a boat, and I am willing to do this for free for 2 or 3 months.

I'm 25 years old and from Egypt. My only problem is that my English speaking is not very good, but I am working on it. However, I have no problem understanding English.

Gaming in Seychelles?

Hey guys! I look at gaming cultures around the world and I am a racing game fan. I have asked all of these questions on different subreddits, simply because I am curious about how each and every single country on this planet experiences video games. I am also curious about gaming in Seychelles. My questions are:

What is more popular? PC or console?

What was more popular in the late 90s and early 2000s? PC or Console?

What racing game was popular in the late 90s and early 2000s!

What do racing game fans in Seychelles play today?-(I get it might not be the most popular genre, but for people who like it, what do they play?)

In general, what games are played there?

Also, what years did gaming become a thing there?

2000-2003?

2004-05?

Before 2000?

Thanks for your responses!!!!

Best places for seeing turtles in the Seychelles?

Will only be there (la digue) for 9 hours for a cruise. More than anything we wanna see the land turtles. Is it easy to get there? How much can I expect to pay for a tour? I’ve seen some priced 150 per person. Would I be able to get a cab or a tour guide after arriving in the ferry harbour for something less than 150 usd. Thank you 😊

Regarding the best beaches I hear grande anse and petit anse are a lot less crowded. So I was thinking maybe seeing the 2 big turtles in anse severe and then biking on down to anse petit. Does that make sense?

Recipes of seychelloise dishes

Hey guys!

My friends and I had a wonderful time in the seychelles back in August.

a friend, that was with us recently turned 20 and we decided to create some sort of cookbook, since he fell in love with creole cuisine, thus he isn’t the most talented in cooking.

I wanted to ask if you guys have maybe a cookbook or any recipes you could send me or a page where I can find any.

Thank you 🫶🏻

Public showers on Praslin

Hi, are there any fresh water showers on pralin at any of the beaches that are free to use? Or even pay to use to use?

We're catching the 5.30pm ferry to mahe and then will rush to get to the airport to get a flight at 8.45pm... hoping to freshen up after a full day's activities before getting on the ferry to mahe

How can I immigrate to the Seychelles?

Hello,

I am a 25 year old female from the USA, and my mother is from the Seychelles, and she originally moved to Norway, before moving to the USA. I was born and raised in the USA, but I have Norwegian and American citizenship through my Norwegian father. I never acquired Seychellois citizenship, but I am interested in moving there after taking a vacation a few months ago.

I have a Bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Utah and a master's degree in business administration from the same university. I also have several IT certifications from Microsoft. I'm currently working as an IT analyst for a small company in Chicago. Are any of these skills in demand in the Seychelles, and would any employer potentially sponsor me? I also have the opportunity to do remote work with my skillset, so would that be an easier way to emigrate? Any tips and help would be appreciated.

Photo Spots on Mahe

We are visiting in january and i'd like to do some night and Astro photography, we are mostly on Mahe

Any one who can recommend some spots?

Are there any remote beaches without much light polution? Looking at Google maps/Earth it looks like most have some hotel/resorts.

I am not confident i'd want to be in the Mountains/forests at night, most online guides explicitly say not to

Thanks in advance to everyone!

How many days on Mahe, La Digue, Praslin

Looking for recommendations on how to divide 8 nights between the three locations? Was thinking about doing 4 nights praslin, 3 nights la digue, 1 night Mahe. Does this seem like it will give us a good experience and use our time wisely while we are there? Will arrive late November.

Tattoos

I’m visiting Seychelles for the next few weeks and I like to get tattoos for every place I visit with some tie to the countries folklore and tales. I’m not finding a lot of info online about any folklore about like cool gods or myths or anything. If anyone has any info on that that would be great! Also if anyone knows of any good cheap local artists let me know :)

Running in Seychelles

Hello, I wanted to know if anyone knew whether it was safe to go for a run on Mahe? I’m heading out for a few weeks and will be staying in a house rental village, but was wondering if anyone had any experience of off-road running or running along beaches as a lone female? Currently training for a marathon so don’t want to stop running altogether but wouldn’t go crazy distances. Thanks!

June or August?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Seychelles 2025, either June or August for 3 weeks. I will be staying on La Digue, Praslin and Mahe for a week at each. Which months to recommend? I read that both June and August can be really windy in the dry sesson. Which side of the islands are the calmest/ less windy during these periods? I enjoy swimming and water activities in general.

How to get from Praslin to Mahe on departure day?

Hello fellow travelers!

Our departure day is Nov 09, Saturday. We need to get from Praslin to Mahe on that day. To get our Turkish airline flight out at 20:45. But there's a thing with the ferry connections. There's no what really suits me. Either you leave at 8:00 in the morning and don't know what to do all thay in Victoria with your suitcase under the arm or you leave late at 17:00 and risk to be late for your flight as you might be at the airport only by 19:30-ish. What would you do? Any idea how I can make most of that da? Cheers and thanks in advance 😘😘

Where can I get SeyTé

I visited the Seychelles as a child in the 1980's. My family was living in the UK at the time, but I have long since moved back to the US. While we were there, we discovered the local Seychellois loose leaf tea that had chunks of vanilla pod in it. We brought a suitcase load home, and carefully rationed it out for almost a year. It is still remembered fondly at family gatherings.

I think it is still made, under the brand SeyTé vanilla. I can't find an importer anywhere. eBay doesn't have it. I went so far as to ask the Seychelles Tourism board who to talk to. They directed me to STC Marketing (which I think is the government owned Seychelles Trading Company). Even they don't ship.

I'm looking for someone I can pay by credit card or PayPal who can stick a few packets in a DHL box and sent to me. Preferably a company, but beggars can't be choosers.

Does anyone have any leads/contacts/ideas?

Easiest way to get SCR before a trip?

I'm going to be visiting Seychelles, and the B&B I'm staying at much prefers getting payment in local cash.

My bank here doesn't have SCR as a currency they can order, and I'm reading that various "currency conversion" places have REALLY high markup.

If I can't find a place with good rates in the US, I'm leaning towards getting cash out of the ATMs at the airport when I get there, but I worry about:

  1. ATM limits being lower than I need (though I'm reading you can get SCR15,000 a day, which should work).
  2. ATMs not having enough cash (though I'd imagine there are enough of them at the airport to make things work).

Any tips here? Places to look in the US before my trip, or thoughts on relying on the airport ATMs for the initial full hotel payment?

Thanks!
