I love A24 and believe their movies have really impacted/inspired filmmakers over the last decade. My favorites are The Florida Project, Swiss Army Man, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The VVitch, Hereditary, Midsommar, Room, The Bling Ring, X, Bodies Bodies Bodies, Good Time and Lady Bird. What are yours?
The Shining is one of my favourite movies for sure, have re-watched it recently. Really want to experience that old-horror-movie-with-great-plot atmosphere. Please, recommend me some (if there are, hah)
Big fan of the original blade runner and am looking for some good classic noirs crime movies , as blade runner in inspired by then. Closest thing I’ve seen is double indemnity by billy wilder and really enjoyed it
Are there any recommendations for movies that capture that Empire state of mind? I've seen quite a few movies that take place in NYC but the ones that feel the most NYC centered to me are Christmas movies. Does anyone have recommendations for movies centered around New York City?
It's on Prime TV possibly, pretty sure. I believe it was a movie about a serial killer possibly. In the trailer there are 2 men wearing hot pink dressers, seemed really weird and campy. I don't recall the name of the movie, I was only clicking along watching trailers and now I can't find it.
Not too fussy on genre. Not really into rom coms and nothing too depressing or something I’ve almost certainly seen. I’m open to thrillers, dramas, action, comedy, psychological horrors etc etc. just a really strong movie that’s not too long.
Hi! last year on may 10th, the police came to my door to inform me that my mom had been in a fatal car accident. I don't cry easily but need to release emotions with the upcoming anniversary of her death. Any good suggestions for a good tear jerker in a similar situation?
I need some good psychological horrors, I really love hereditary, midsummar, sinister, the hauntings of hill house (& bly manor), don’t worry darling, split, I also enjoy horrors like the conjuring series, crimson peak, hell house llc, grave encounters, IT, the shining, but I feel I am running out of new impactful horrors. Horrors don’t scare me, I grew up on them and they don’t have the fear factor for me so I love the horrors that mess with your head and have a really impactful story. Any good suggestions??
apart from like raw 2016 and bones and all 2022, are there more movies that explore cannibalism as an act of desire/love? movies like fresh 2022 and antiviral 2012 count also
Hi guys!
I’m looking for movie recommendations that left you in awe the first time you saw them because it was something completely new. Think about the first time seeing The Matrix or Inception. What movies did that for you?
By recent I mean anything from 2019-Present. Maybe even 2017-present if they’re really good. My wife and I are huuuge fans of these genres so we’ve seen most of the classics from the 90’s & early 2000s so we’re really looking for more recent things! Don’t have to be big budget either!
Just to sort some of the common ones out we’ve already seen as responses on other threads:
The menu (2022)
Barbarian (2022)
The invisible man (2021)
Don't worry darling (2022)
Smile (2022)
Pearl (2022)
Watcher (2022)
The guilty (2021)
Missing (2023)
Escape room (2019)
Run (2020)
Fractured (2019)
Seen all of those so if you have any other suggestions that fit anything I’ve described above please let me know!!
The system has a sub woofer, center speaker, left/right standing speakers, and left/right rear speakers.
I want to feel like I am the in the middle of something crazy...lol
I've seen historical films that are Chinese language and one tv show that is modern called Ode to Joy. I would like to see some films that are more on the modern side. I will take fictional or documentary films.
Can someone suggest me a film similar to the The Machinist. So one where the MC kind of creates a defence mechanism to cope with some sort of trauma
I really liked it. Great cast, especially from Alisha Weir, who plays the titular vampire. I thought she was great in the Matilda remake too. She has a bright future in the acting industry ahead of her. Katherine Newton is busy proving everyone who gave her flack for quantumania wrong.
Another hit from Radio Silence. Can’t wait to see more.
My oldest doesn't like anime, so this narrows it down. I like comedy, slapstick is great but any type. My kids and husband like Marvel movies (and have probably watched most of them).
Just trying to figure out a Saturday night movie to watch tonight.
I like the movies "All The Presidents men" and "Charlie Wilsons War" about some real historical politics (conspiracy). Can you recommend other movies like these; with or without conspiracy plot.
I have started watching "THE IDES OF MARCH" - but as I see it, it mostly is about local campaigns in an american election.
Looking for best action movies you can think of. Sci-Fi, Thriller, Crime, even Horror just as long as the main tag of the movie is Action. Try not to tell me too much about the movie as I love all the time's I'm wondering what's going to happen next. Definitely like movies that mess with the mind a bit. I watched Total Recall (2012) recently and it really had me going. I've seen John Wick, Edge of Tomorrow, Tenet, Inception, V for Vendetta for reference of what movies I have enjoyed. Hope this post abides by the community guidelines. Anyway have a blessed day.
loved challengers and i wanna see more queer love triangle movies specifically like girl has two boyfriends who are also boyfriends. let me know !!
Summer ghost is an anime forty minutes long. It is about three random people who search for this ghost and she tells the main protagonist to help find her dead body.. It is a captivating story just amazed by it, i saw it about seven months ago and recently i've been trying to see if there's something similar.
I’m looking for something that is either from the 1970s or set in the 1970s where disco music is a primary theme. What do you suggest?
I really like war movies, that really show how brutal war can be, like Saving Private Ryan, and All Quiet on the Western Front. Though if you don't know any war movies, I'm all for just regular dramas and other genres
I've watched all movies and series of Mike Flanagan. I loved watching "the fall of the house of usher". I think it's underrated. It's been two weeks and It's still in my head. Are there any movies or series with similar plot?
Not sure what to watch next.
Recently I've watched and enjoyed Down By Law, Night on Earth, the Brood, Scanners, Lucky, The Cassandra Cat, About Endlessness, and King of Comedy.
Please note that I have been collectimg movies for a while now so please mention the movies you think not everyone have see. Any languages are welcome.
I am in the process of creating my own collection of movies. Like from all genres and languages. So I thought I'll add some of these in as well.
The protagonist gains some power (like dr strange getting his magic powers…), but there is no evil thing to fight or being a hero or some other thing. I just want a movie where the protagonist uses his powers for his own good without telling others about it and he is not a dumbass. I don't care about character development, side characters etc…
Man, i haven't laughed in a while. I'm just looking for comedy movies that are really funny, but with no slapstick humour and no exaggerated comedy. It may not have a lot of other stuff going on but it has to be really funny. I'm looking for subtle comedy where delivery and camera transitions make the scene hilarious.
Suggest movies similar to End of Watch. A serious cop movie based in LA or NYC or any city fights against crime. It would be better of there are two cops. Crime detective movies also welcomed.
Serious movies please (not like 21 Jump Street).
Hello, yesterday I had an appointment with my psychiatrist where we discussed about my borderline personality, auto-distructive behaviours, and my huge pride that comes from my firm belief in my moral and spiritual superiority. It's been a while since he suggested that I'd start exploring the idea of Cinema Therapy and I really found it fascinating. However, I couldn't find much on Netflix or Prime as of late and my taste is in movies is complex. For this journey, I was looking for something "near me" both emotionally and psychologically. I believe you, reader, could give me a better suggestion if I briefly talked about myself and the latest movies i watched. As I mentioned before, I have a HUGE pride that comes from my firm belief in my moral and spiritual superiority. My therapist has often voiced out my interest in eroticism and violence, and something about me being a prostitute of death.
THE LATEST MOVIES I WATCHED: 1 Downloading Nancy 2 The skin I live in 3 The Devil's Backbone
Can anyone suggest a movie where the girl has a bf who seems sweet at first but shows his true colors later on by showing his narcissistic, misogynistic, toxic side etc. The girl doesn't want to leave him since she is in love with him but later on realizes how he actually is and breaks up with him and moves on. Maybe something with how she develops after dumping him?
