Films I loved from the 50s/60s and love to get similar suggestions on (more so 1940s to 60s recs of mostly sad/happy romance genres) !
- love with the proper stranger 1963 (steve mcqueen, natalie woods)
- roman holiday 1953 (audrey hepburn, gregory peck)
- the children's hour 1961 (james garner, audrey hepburn, shirley maclaine)
Thanks a lot! :))
I know I'm basically asking for spoilers with this type of movie, but try not to share anything other the title and genre.
I am looking for movies with an unhappy to extremely unhappy ending. Maybe everyone dies or maybe the main character is in a no win situation (The killing of a sacred deer).
Hi everyone! I'm looking for movie recommendations similar to Body of Lies (2008). I really enjoyed the intense atmosphere, the war setting, and the focus on tracking down specific cases or people. I’m especially interested in films that blend thriller elements with investigative work in a war or conflict setting.
Any suggestions for movies with a similar vibe? Thanks in advance!
Looking for movies that explore how a lack of social responsibility leads to violence. Interested in films that dive into themes of societal neglect, apathy, or individual irresponsibility and how these can escalate tensions or fuel destructive behavior. Would love any recommendations!
Hey guys, I've heard about Channel Zero being an incredible horror tv series.
I love horror movies and I have started to watch this series, but I am failing to appreciate it (no hate). Could someone tell me why everyone loves this tv series - is there something I am overlooking?
Thanks loads guys
I'm looking for a movie that has a warm color palette . like tangled etc. it can be animated or life action , I don't mind. it just has to have a comforting vibe. thanks in advance!
I have been watching movies consistently, for the last 20 years, i have almost watched everything there is. I know there might be some i missed.
I am looking for something with the themes of maniac, cure for wellness, the empty man, etc. essentially scifi, horror, psychological. Please suggest
I don’t know if the theme is clear here, but I am looking for movies that combine mystery, action, archaeology etc. but then good
I liked how the DaVinci Code and National Treasure had elements of real world artifacts and places etc.
If you feel like there’s a movie with fantasy/sci-fi elements that fits the vibe, they are welcome.
Series are also welcome
I'm 19(M) & I fell for a girl who was already in a relationship . Now as we have become friends I can't confess to her ever. So is there any movie with similar plot where the protagonist can't confess or even if he does he gets rejected . It should be an emotional one.
im looking for a realistic army, police sas, special forces movie, i wanna find soemthing that represents the picadilly mission in 2019's modern warfare. just something realistic and similar to that
Drama is my favourite genre in film. It’s all about the screenplay and acting for me. Let me know some of your favourites but also consider the lesser known movies that no longer get any recognition. Please also suggest underrated dramas that deserve recognition.
I’ve already watched:
-Searching (2018)
-Missing (2023)
-Gone Baby Gone (2007)
-Prisoners (2013)
-Hardcore (1979)
-8mm (1999)
-Mystic River (2003)
And I started watching Angel Heart (1987) but couldn’t get into it because I’m really not into supernatural type stuff. I’m also not a fan of gang wars and gang related disappearances.
I really want something about a person who disappears/mysteriously goes missing and another character has to find out what happened to them, why, who did it, and where they are (dead or alive).
Are there any good movies about a character thinking they're seeing signs from the universe and eventually going mad? Like they keeo thinking the universe is giving them a sign to do something bad and they end up doing it. Thanks!
John Wick for example. I want movies where the protag doesn't just jump in head first into gunfire while spraying and praying all over the place with a somehow infinite amount of rounds in his mag. They use tactics and their brains to win their battles.
Would anyone suggest me a film like The Parent Trap and Uptown Girls? I don't know what specific genre these type of movies are and I've always just been watching thrillers (new and old) and Jim Carrey films so it's kinda new to me. These movies screams comfort in ways that I can't even verbalize. I would appreciate all recommendations!
I'm Looking for a Movie where Friends/Family go on a Trip on Maybe Icy Mountains or Maybe Jungle or anywhere nature related and it should just be a Fun Camp Flick and shouldn't be horror
Also Preferably released after 2010
Any genre really, but it’s a plus if it’s a thriller/horror or a comedy. I want the movie to take place specifically around/during Halloween, so not just any slasher horror movie that’s associated with Halloween simply because it’s scary.
Suggest me some good comedy movies
It could be crime comedy, action comdey, anything. I watched war dogs, big Lebowski , ted, spy(2015), hot pursuit, hot fuzz . Suggest me some more please
When I was a kid I used to watch the last of the Mohicans (cartoon) over and over again. Sometimes,at my grown age,I still do it because I like the vibe. I watched the movie as well, but does anyone know a movie/series that gives off the same vibe??
What should we watch tomorrow?
Good evening horror fans, I need your help!
My wife is a causal horror fan while I am a hardcore fan. This posses a problem because there are tons of films i could suggest we watch, but only certain movies resonant with her. Most movies either lack good acting or quality story telling for her or both, but October is the month where she's open to watch just about anything. She wants to get creeped out. She's a teacher, but she is down to watch 2 horror flicks when she gets home. Which 2 would you recommend?
What she's seen so far?
A nightmare of elm street (2010) - Thought it was scary.
The Innkeepers
Halloween (2007) - The original John Carpenter one is her favorite horror film of all time. Didn't like the remake
The Conjuring 1, 2, 3 - Scariest series she's ever witnessed
Annabelle - Thought it was scary
The Nun
Halloween 3: Season of the Witch
A Quiet Place 1, 2, 3 - She loves the first one
Poltergeist (1982) - One of the scariest films she's seen.
Sinister
Them - loved season 1 more than 2
Get Out
Us
House on Haunted Hill
House on Bly Manor
If i didn't comment on the flick that means she didn't think too highly of the movie or show. Gore and guts won't get much play if it's over the top, so movies like the Terrifier won't make it.
So I've laid out as much as I can think of at the moment.
Any recommendations for 2 good scary movies? I'm currently thinking Hellraiser 1 & 2, but would love other opinions and it does have to be a series.
I’m looking to watch a terrible mean spirited comedy. Similar vibes to Windy City Heat, Norbit, White Chicks. Just so mean and ridiculous for no reason.
Movies like I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Silent Hill, I Saw the TV Glow, Vivarium, films that capture the eeriness, allure, nostalgia and/or terror of the standard liminal space photograph. Keen to see what other films are out there with similar vibes
So im looking for a halloween movie thats actually about halloween, not like a horror movie just about halloween and also maybe romance bc i dont think ive ever seen a romance halloween movie before. But yeah smth set like in highschool and like a group of friends go trick or treating its just them celebrating halloween and like halloween parties and stuff. They probably dont exist unfortunately but if they do then pls lmk if yall have any suggestions 😭
Hey everyone,
I’m in a bit of a sticky situation. I work for a nonprofit that helps specifically teen girls with extensive trauma, many of whom are undereducated Black teens. This isn’t to demean them; it’s just the reality of the demographic I work with. Unfortunately, the public school system and other systems designed to care for our youth have largely failed them.
As the election nears, I’ve been hearing some concerning agreement with far-right views. I’m not looking to dive into a political discussion, but these ideas can be harmful, especially toward marginalized communities. I can’t push back as much as I’d like, but I’ve noticed many of them are painfully misinformed. For example, I recently had to explain the separation of church and state and Project 2025. They have a lot going on in their lives, and understandably, watching the news isn’t really their thing.
I think a movie followed by a discussion could help them understand that fascism is a slow progression and that we’re currently emulating some of those steps in our own government. I initially considered films like The Diary of Anne Frank or Schindler’s List, but I’m worried they might not connect with those stories, given the different time, race, and country.
So, I’m looking for suggestions for films that depict similar themes but are set in the United States or feature characters they might relate to more. I’m open to any and all ideas! Thanks for your help!
I’m in the mood to watch a movie with a good amount of stoner humor mixed with a soooky vibe. I’m okay with horror, dark comedy or the like. I’ve seen the first few movies in the Scary Movie franchise and had a good time so something along those lines.
This is the surprise ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ movie of the year for me. Amazing acting, dialogue, music and story. Inspired by some of Tarantino’s works, but a 💎 that stands alone. I highly recommend this movie for someone looking for a thriller and tension that builds throughout. I don’t want to say anymore and you should go into this completely blind (don’t watch a trailer or movie review).
I need helping finding this war movie with a woman lead, its a old movie but all i remember is that she was in war and a bomb went off and she lost her arm and there was a scene where she was in the bathroom looking at where her arm used to be. I cannot find the movie for the life of me
I just watched Midsommar a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it and how creepy it was! Apparently it's a genre called folk horror. I watched Doctor Sleep last Halloween and loved that one as well. I'm a big fan of psychological horror movies that fuck with your head. What would you all suggest?
