Strawberry Mansion, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (show), The Shape of Water, Amelie, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Dave Made a Maze, Manic (show), Molly and Max in the Future
All of these are so wonderful and quirky and creative- what movies (or shows) feel like these that you would add to the list?
My kids and i watched Fall Guy a few weeks ago and had SO much fun! We have watched it like 5 times since!
Any suggestions that offer a similar vibe. Family friendlish, funny, and exciting? Maybe some love thrown in?
FYI all my kids, 6,9,11 all LOVE fall guy.
I'm not a gamer and if I were, I wouldn't play such notoriously difficult games. That said, they look really good. The lore and the atmosphere are pretty on-point.
What movie (or even show, really) reminds you most of the souls games? Thank you.
Heya, last night i saw 'The Fencer' and I'd love to watch more movies where the story focuses on character(s) training and practicing sword fighting / fencing / kendo - either as a sport discipline or as spiritual path or for purposes of war, any swords techniques from any country. Something like that! Thanks :)
I am looking for a cosmic horror movie I could watch with someone that isn’t a big horror fan. They told me that the first Insidious is about as scary as they can handle, and they had some nightmares from it. They also find excessivr gore disturbing, so body horror would be a no no for them. I know that’s pretty limiting, but what could I suggest to them that we watch?
So, obviously two very different films but I love Hooper and The Fall Guy. Both of which are movies about stunt performers, by stunt performers (starring guys who have previous famous roles as excellent drivers in an odd coincidence).
Only the latter is essential for what I’m requesting though - other movies about stunt performers, preferably showing them actually do some stunts / behind the magic kinda stuff.
I'm determined to finally read Wuthering Heights straight through, after starting and stopping at least three times over the years 😂 I'd like to watch at least one adaptation when I'm done. What are the best ones?
he doesn't like horror movies, but he hasn't seen many of them, he's seen some old slasher horror movies and didn't like those, he also said he didn't like "Saw"
he likes Orphan, The good son, P2, Christine, From dusk till dawn, but he said he didn't know that these movies are considered horror movies,
does anyone have suggestions on good horror movies that maybe he would like?
I love horror and have watch a bunch of them. I now want recommendations on movies that you think are really scary. I found the first 3/4 of Barbarian to be the most scared ive ever been watching horror movies. I also really loved autopsy of Jane doe. Supernatural, religious, exorcist movies like hereditary, the exorcist, conjuring, anabelle etc isnt really my thing. I find them boring and not scary. I love intense home invasion movies like "the strangers", "Hush" and "dont breathe" though they arent very scary but I still get very jump scared in them. I also love horror movies with psychological or deeper meanings like 1408 or babadook though I dont find them very scary.
Want something mainstream (not period piece or foreign, cis couple, not dark/violent) with gorgeous people falling in love/lust. Thinking along the lines of atonement but on steroids. Not really looking for something overtly sexual or graphic scenes but just hotness and anticipation. Preferably something at least from the 2020s. Alternatively, movies about women, maybe over 40, maybe single for the first time in a long time exploring new love. Along the lines of eat pray love, or under the Tuscan sun. Bonus points for a little steam.
Hello, Im on the hunt for movie scenes where two women do the epic handshake from the predator 1987 film "Not including secret handshakes" They must be the protagonist
And also they must look serious in these scenes.
Any suggestions boomers?
Could someone suggest a movie about someone gaining superhuman abilities. Like intelligence, strength, telekinesis. But which ISNT a superhero movie. Thank you
Could someone please suggest a movie about someone getting an increased consciousness? I know thats a vague request, so that it in any direction you like. Thank you
As the title says, i'm looking for movies that has scenes or characters that are inspired by mythological/cultural stories or anything like that. Stating the example of snow white where the step mother was so self centered and always looking in the mirror just like narcissus and how the two characters both had the same ending. This is for my french project sous le titre de "Les reproductions mythologiques dans le cinema moderne"
Hi , i am looking for a Movie where the person goes inside the earth fights supernatural and comes out the other side from a narrow passage while hes upside down, i watched it decades ago and cant remember much it was English movie maybe horror ,Thank you.
Looking for sum more like hot than romantic. Like tbh we don’t rly pay attention to most movies we watch so might as well watch sun thats gets us in the mood lol. Sum like a thriller or a dark psychological film if it’s not too extreme.
Could be both or one without the other, movies like "Happiness" "Storytelling" "Being John Malkovich" "Anomalisa" "Synecdoche, New York" "Life During Wartime" and "April's Story" (if I recall correctly had a few awkward moments in that one)
So movies like listed above, something uncomfortable that makes you squirm a bit. Language of movie doesn't matter but, I would be extra interested in movies that aren't American as I want to see "awkward cinema" around the globe.
I want to watch a ww2 movie about Britain. And I don’t want the movie to be too old. I’ve watched many war movies but never about Britain in war so I’m interested in that.
I just love love the atmosphere these movies give and the visuals are oh so amazing. I’d love to watch more like this but maybe ones that are less in time, def not an issue but sometimes I check out
My 7-year old daughter loved Tomorrowland and I am looking for more movies similar to recommend her. I was thinking maybe Race to Witch Mountain. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
I just watched Georgia Rule and was pleasantly surprised! Based on the trailer, I never felt inclined to watch it, but the actual story offers so much more than it gives off. The film was really good, and I loved the dynamic between Lindsay Lohan, Jane Fonda, and Felicity Huffman.
I absolutely adore Jane Fonda, especially in her role as the grandmother, and this was one of my favorite Lindsay Lohan performances. Garrett Hedlund’s character was great too, adding a nice injection of comedy and a likeable cute character. It’s a film with a real story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it—everyone’s performance was fantastic!
Hello, can anyone please suggest movies for me to watch about bad breakups, like cheating? I’ve recently experienced it and I just wanna feel good (or bad) watching films that I can relate, especially now. Thank you!
I'm looking for movies that encapsulate all of these feelings. For example some that I already have in mind that I think best fit this overall feeling that I'm talking about are; Herzog's Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979), The Black Stallion (1979), The Tree of Life (2011), and a lot of David Lynch's stuff like Twin Peaks, Dune, and Blue Velvet.
I need a movie where music is part of the plot, something like Baby Driver, how each scene is done to music and it means something to the main character, or how in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies music plays a big part.
looking for some pre 70's cinema and I found a director who has an interesting background as he started out as a cartoonist and animator and later branched out into live action movie-making. But what would you recommend to a beginner?
My dad is coming for a visit and I’d love a movie suggestion. He loved the marvel movies and likes mostly anything. Have you all seen anything lately that was amazing or would be a good fit for a father son movie night?
Yesterday, I saw the Brutalist in 70mm, and was awestruck by how epic and massive the film felt, I thought it was a beautiful and moving film in many ways. What impressed me the most though, was that the film apparently cost about 10 million dollars or slightly less to make, which for a film that feels so grand and epic, is seriously impressive. What are some other movies you guys would recommend that were filmed on rather small budgets, but are considered epics or grand films, perhaps masterpieces?
Suggest me a movie that's giving Mountaintop Motel Massacre meets The Burning. Please!
I needed a slasher movie from the 80s-90s with teenage fun, short shorts , 80s hair and a good and unapologetic slasher villian.
Danke!
I'm currently on a Liam Neeson marathon, and after years of putting it off and getting interested in other titles, I finally sat back and enjoyed this gem of a flick. Imo this movie is a masterful work of art and a peak period peace. You don't have to be a history buff to enjoy this.
I’m trying to compile a list of films where the protagonists start out in a winter climate and get out of town to a more sunny climate. Could be some sort of vacation movie? I know there have to be a handful of films that have this basic premise. The only one I can come up with is Jim Jarmusch’s Stranger than Paradise. Any ideas?
