Hey,
I’m a big fan of anime, but I can’t take some series that don’t measure up in terms of animation quality.
I’m looking for an S-tier anime series with exceptional visuals—something that stands out in terms of animation and artistic style.
I loved the quality and atmosphere in Your Name and Suzume, but I’d prefer a series over a movie this time.
I started Steins;Gate, but the animation quality was too bad for me to even enjoy it. Any recommendations?
I've watched quite a few animes where the popular girl falls for the unpopular guy in class so now I'm interested in seeing the other way around as the title says -- where the popular dude falls for the loner/introvert/unpopular/nerd/shy girl in class.
March Comes in Like a Lion was a perfect example and im pissed it won't come out with another season even though i hear the manga goes further.
I need an anime that struggles with depression, his woes, something thats realistic as well in terms of struggling with depression cus often than not, anime fails to really show the raw reality to depression and human struggle as March Comes in Like a Lion succeeded in doing.
I'm looking for an anime that centers around a Himedere that only has 1 friend (both being the protagonist and deuteragonist). That friend isn't a satellite character, and have dreams, interests, and can talk about anything that isn't just the himedere.
Optional, but welcomed additions:
I don't want some lame ass story where the mc has a hard time in the beginning and gets powers, hell he doesn't even need to have powers, who said I wanted fantasy?
It can absolutely be a fantasy, but I want to see some struggles, some actual human suffering. And no dramatic shit, I mean something real. And it's hopeless, and it's pointless, and they get up and do shit anyways.
And I don't want them to be a punching bag. I want to see a life that's difficult but I don't want them to bend or suck it up. No cheats, no real help, not someone who's lucky or well connected. Someone at the bottom, the actual bottom. They aren't talented, not that smart, not that clever, not that brave and not that tough. At least at first.
I want a story where they have to earn those skills. Bit by bit. I don't want a fucking escape, I want to read a story that makes me think about my own life and think "damn that's depressing".
Is there a story like that? With a main character who somehow also acts like an actual person and isn't an idiot? I really hope that there is, but hey! If there were a place to find a specific story this is it right?
Tell me.
Just watched paranoia agent (was amazing, probably my favorite of Satoshis so far) and looking for things with a similar cloudy/mystery/depression/the-viewer-is-lost vibe. I've already seen Lain, Steins gate, and most of Satoshis other works so other stuff maybe even similar to those would be cool too.
I'm looking for short complete manga to read that are visually terrifying. Don't recommend ito; his art isn't scary at all to me. Examples of art I found scary: ptsd radio, high rise invasion, omori (yes its a video game but the art scared me so I'll mention it), children, madk (the body horror...), mahou shoujou of the end, school ningyo, jinmen, I am a hero
A lot of the shows I watch are Isekai, but they don't have to be.
Im also slowly getting into slice of life or "slower" anime's that are still OP. recent additions to this are anime's like "I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level" or "In the Land of Leadale"
I don't mind generic or parody shows. Comedy is still a wonderful thing, and kazuma's mood is what I aspire to be IRL all the time.
I have been going through and trying to accurately rate all the shows I have completed. Any recommendations are appreciated!
MC struggles the simple task of just asking help. Any anime or anime movie like that?
I've always loved the character designs for the Fate Series, but I'm so confused as to the best order to watch it all. Can someone help me with that?
I am looking for an an anime where the main character starts as a typical nice dude from your average shonen, but becomes unforgiving against his wrongdoers and doesn't let heinous stuff they did go unavenged
I'm looking for an anime that has their protagonists growing up in a laboratory or place where they are clueless of the truth and the outside world.
Want something to scratch the itch of non samurai/katana sword fights. Tall order for a Japanese medium lol. I’ll also take anime that have other non katana weapons. But I’ve seen some. Such as Vinland saga.
Basically I recommended mushishi to my girlfriend and she loved it but to my surprise she said she loves this genre of anime.
What exactly she means by this genre I’m not sure but I’m looking for an anime that I haven’t watched yet as well so that we can enjoy the next one together.
I assume what she means is mystery solving. Either that, or perhaps not even the solving part but exploration of a mysterious world. Mushishi is very pleasing visually so that probably played a factor also.
I actually never watch this type of anime so I’m stumped when it comes to thinking of what might be similar. If I may add a personal request, if you could refrain from anime’s that I would label as “mindfuck anime” that would be very much appreciated, to me those anime usually just come off as a pretentious jumble of nonsense.
At first I thought of Ghost in the Shell because it’s similar in how each episode they solve a different mystery, but I showed a bit to her before and she wasn’t too interested. I think it’s all the robots and also the inclination to have politics in an anime that made it less appealing. Something more chill and full of mystery/exploration would probably hit the right spot.
Much appreciated!!!
I have a few preferences:
My MAL list if you have the time for it, otherwise just name me a few and ill see what I haven't watched:

I have this really vague memory of a fight scene between two women where one has chemical symbols on her gloves/shoes, and she was telegraphing her moves by yelling out chemical combinations which gave away which limb she was going to use to kick/punch??
Someone tell me I'm not insane and this is real. Thanks!
I'm looking for shows based on my 3x3, whatever that means. Since I can't post a picture I'll just write them here:
Mushoku Tensei.
Frieren beyond journeys end.
Apothecary diaries.
Ascendence of a bookworm.
To your eternity.
Ancient magus bride.
Konosuba.
Mob psycho 100.
Spy x familie.
looking for something long. 12 episodes is just too short and i kinda watched every mainstream anime there is
Doesn't necessarily need to be anime. Can also be shows not movies!
I feel like your name is the best movie I've ever watched, I still think about it daily.
The only thing that came close to me was Nana so far - I really like the coming-of-age theme of both. I also enjoy movies with plot twists like both your name and nana have. any ideas?
I've also watched paradise kiss but i feel like it lacked of depth.
I am searching for a specific anime that I don’t know the name of and have only seen snippets of on Instagram reels.
A group of kids form an imaginary secret organization sort of like a cult or a gang just as a fun game, with one kid being selected the leader. All of the kids grow up, but the leader hangs on to the delusion as an adult and actually becomes some sort of criminal mastermind or terrorist who wears a dark coat and a mask. I believe it is from the 2000s as it looks similar to Welcome to the NHK or Serial Experiments Lain.
Does this ring any bells for anyone?
Looking for new anime’s (new To me, not necessarily new) similar to Claymore or something similar to Hxh, Yu Yu hakusho.
None of the big ones though (n/baruto , op, bleach, dbz , AoT, One punch man, Fairytail , etc)
Suggestions appreciated.
Basically I am looking for some fairly recent ones because I wanted to watch something that was kind of wholesome as I want to see what the genre has been up to lately, but I didn't know where to start, and so I want to catch up on Anime basically, e.g. I can handle something with supernatural elements in it.
Hello everyone,
I've been watching a lot of romance animes lately, like Pseudo Harem, A Sign of Affection or Insomniacs After School.
(Now watching Nagatoro / The Dangers in my Heart)
And it made me think how most of these have a kiss or confession as the season/series ending. But are there actually romance animes that go all the way and imply/depict sex?
All I can think of is Paradise Kiss (which I saw 10+ years ago so I'm not even sure if the sex scene isn't just my fever dream).
Any suggestions are welcome, even bad ones. I'm more interested in knowing if it's a thing at all or not than actually watching such anime.
Hope that makes sense. :)
I'm a BIG fan of Berserk and Hellsing Ultimate. However these are pretty much the only anime I can watch because everything else is so cringe by comparison, they all feel aimed at kids (as far as I've seen)
I need something grounded and with great fights and banger OSTs and a compelling story. Fights should feel weighty and brutal, not flying around and teleporting behind each other.
Edit: I realize this post comes off as edgy but I keep being told how great One Piece or Dragonball are but I just can't sit through them without being bored
Somebody essentially made a post like this but you know how animes often promote this sense of "killing is bad" and "revenge makes you no better" and "killing the killer just makes you a killer too".
I cringe at that pathetic logic and it often ruins an anime for me. Especially when an antagonist did some purely despicable shit and in the end the MC doesnt even kill em. Like the other guy said, offers redemption instead or simply jails em with mercy.
I need an anime that is absolutely gruesome, to the bone, as blunt as can be. "Oh you want mercy? Nah, bring the dead back to life and we can talk, you can't? Nareba, shine da" typa shit LOOL.
Death Note was interesting because Light held the view that true justice means delivering death. L believed it wasnt so and killers are to face trial and be judged by the system and the system is what decides life and death. In the end, L's foolishness got him killed, Lights foolishness got him killed. Two sides of an extreme left and extreme right.
I just need something thats bloody, gorey, unforgiving, realistic, and doesn't have an MC that hesitates to deliver an eye for an eye, despite others differing with him or her.
https://myanimelist.net/animelist/ketch_xd here's my mal. I mostly want some action/adventure anime nothing too specific can be fantasy etc. I know i have a whole plan to watch list but i went through it and nothing looks interesting ngl
My friend group was talking about the cool relationship dynamics and experiences that interspecies relationships have the capacity to provide. Also just about the cool aspects of different fantasy races. Are there any good anime or manga or even books that explore this. I'm not looking for any genre specifically. Just something that yall find enjoyable. Also no one write Interspecies Reviewers -_-. I can taste it in the air. One of you was gonna do it.
Its a manga about getting kick of the team and start a new life and the mc got married beside that i cant remember anything else can i get some suggestions?
I'm looking for cute animes to watch with the girlfriend the theme can be fall or something but it needs to be wholesome and funny. (preferably slice of life please)
A lot of japanese stories have a thing for redemption and forgiveness so i want a series where bad deeds have consequences for those that do and villains are not let go of by the protagonist.
