Can I get something similar to "The Girl Downstairs"?

Just finished The Girl Downstairs and found it to be really captivating. Was wondering if you folks can suggest something warm like it.

Good animes that do not have sexualization of women in them

Yesterday I watched the first episode of Oshi no ko with my girlfriend, but we both were immediately put off by the constant sexualization of the mother, who is a freaking 16 year old girl.

I can't stand these things to be honest, it's disgusting to me and really creepy; especially when it does not contribute to the plot. We were willing to push through it to see if it was worth it, but half-way the episode there were SO MANY moments dedicated to this "sentiment" of attraction towards a minor that we decided not to watch any-more. Because why push through stuff like that when you could watch something different right.

What animes would you recommend that have none of these things? I want animes geared towards adult audiences. I don't mind the plot if its good (drama/comedy).

Recommend me some 2000's to early 2010's anime

I like the vibes of the anime of this era since this was before anime was mainstream (not a bad thing though). Any genre goes as long it's not overly ecchi

The Essential "Shinkalion 2018 & Z" episode list?

Hello Everyone! I’m just getting back into Shinkalion after watching it in my teenage. Is there any sort of essential episodes list I can go through? I want to enjoy the show but can’t get past some of the repetitive stuff. I truly love this show and really want to live through my memories again, so your help is much appreciated!

Anime with a lot of Character development and a badass mc. Something like solo leveling.

You know, something like a loser gets better powers and then becomes badass and has lots of fights and stuff like that

Anime about girl living her own way

I'm looking for an anime with a girl who lives free in her own world or/and is kind of an outsider. She can be percived as weird by others or not, just a main character being authentic and doing whatever she wants to. An example can be 'Lain' in which main character seems to have a normal life but behind the scenes she lives in her own way. Preferably romance but any genre is welcomed

Anime that Take Place All Around the World

In most anime, the main setting is usually in Japan.

I’m looking for an anime in which there’s a lot of scenes and main plot points that take place out of Japan. Mainly looking for an action-themed anime but I’m open to any other suggestions.

To be clear, I’m specifically talking about anime where there’s multiple settings from around the world, not simply just set in one singular place outside of Japan.

Fate/Zero is my favorite example of this and it is my #2 anime of all time, definitely looking forward to anime with similar premises.

Looking for adventure manga with a main girl with some romantic vibes, no harem.

I am looking for more adventure manga where there is one heroine instead of multiple, actual romance isn't necessary, but unresolved sexual tension at least. It can be on the slice of life side of adventuring (which many of my examples are). Also, hopefully more than just a couple chapters. Here is what I'm looking for more of:

  • Isekai Craft Gurashi Jiyu Kimamana Seisan Shoku No Honobono Slow Life (Another World Craft Life: The Heartwarming Slow Life of a Free-spirited Production Worker)
  • Kensei no Osananajimi ga Pawahara de Ore ni Tsuraku Atarunode, Zetsuen hite Henkyō de ma Kenshi to Shite Denaosu Koto ni Shita (A Sword Master Childhood Friend Power Harassed Me Harshly, so I Broke off Our Relationship and Made a Fresh Start at the Frontier as a Magic Swordsman)
  • Botsuraku Yotei Nanode, Kajishokunin wo Mezasu (Expecting to Fall Into Ruin, I Aim to Become a Blacksmith)
  • Chounin A wa Akuyaku Reijou wo Doushitemo Sukuitai (Villager A Wants to Save the Villainess no Matter What!)

Thanks.

Any period piece anime? Preferably WW2/Soviet?

I know this is oddly specific, but I just started watching Irina the Cosmonaut (again, put it on hold awhile ago). It's parodying/imitating the USSR, and I love the scenery & music of it. Are there any other anime that take place in the same period and place? If not, any anime that take place in a specific period (and that's like, a main focus of it?)
Thank you!

Need help finding an older anime

I was recently at an anime convention where they had a panel with shows out of context.

There was one where a rich girl was sharing how their butler trained them as a child. While learning how to drive (as a little girl) she runs over her mother. Later when she's on the shooting range, she shoots her mom in the head.

This doesn't kill the mom immediately. She tells her daughter that she's actually an assassin that was going to kill the girl's father, but fell in love with him instead. She then gives her daughter a pistol (I think it was a mauser). The mom then remembers that she's got a bullet in her brain and dies.

The show was from the 2000's and the host mentioned that it didn't review very well. If anyone knows what this show is, I need to see the rest of it.

Help me remember this anime.

Romance anime 4 friends (2 boys 2 girls) visit the beach. It starts to rain and they cant get home. The Aunt? of mc lives nearby and the group decides to stay at her place. Aunt is kinda crazy because mc resembles her dead brother which turns out is MCs father. The group overhears everything and learns that MCs parents died in an accident and he was adopted by his uncle. Mc and fmc talk at the beach...

Animes wich dont explains everyones feelings and or emotions

I watch a fair bit of anime and something that recently started to increasingly bother me is that a lot of shows have large sections in which the Characters emotions about what is happening in the scene are explained rather than showing the scene.

I think the worst offender of this might be Naruto where you have a fighting scene, and for 2 episodes you get detailed explanations about every character's feelings about every move for about actual 2 mins of fighting.

I really liked Cyberpunk Edgerunners writing because it balanced that well in my opinion. So now im looking for Animes that have only little amounts of Zooming into a characters face and then showing their childhood for 30 mins because someone else got punched.

I apologize for my probably horrible English btw im not a Nativ speaker.

To whom it may concern i have Crunshyroll netflix and Disneyplus accsess.

An short sci-fi, space adventure anime with a solid story?

Just re-watched Kanata no Astra and liked its solid, self-contained story with a mystery and twists. Also thought back to Outlaw Star and really want to watch a good but short scifi space adventure anime with a solid story. Something that isn't Gundam please.

What's an Anime series that goes from normal to trippy?

Just curious is all as I don't know why, but lately I had been interested in seeing an anime series that came off as pretty normal at first, but then later on turns out to go in a very trippy or bizarre direction as suddenly the same show is no longer grounded in reality, but if such a show does not exist, then that's fine.

Suggestions for worst localized themes?

Opening themes and ending themes, Im gonna make a bracket to decide the worst. Ive got the Sonic X theme, One Piece rap, Dragon Ball GT rap, German Naruto opening, Mew Mew Power op, and Its Hamtaro Time. This is based solely on the song so visuals dont matter. Looking forward to what abominations exists out there

Suggestions based on Apothecary Diaries, A Sign of Affection, Spy X Family, One Punch Man, + more

I watch a lot of anime with my mom, but I want to find more series that she'll specifically like. She's so into Apothecary Diaries that she started rewatching it before the season even finished lol, and she also binged all of A Sign of Affection manga.

These are some others she liked the most:

  • One Punch Man
  • Spy X Family
  • Fruits Basket
  • Chihayafuru
  • Mob Psycho 100
  • Bocchi the Rock

Nothing with heavy fanservice. Other than that, any genre is good if you think the series is a good fit. Shoujo recs would be very welcome though, we haven't watched any of those other than the few in this list!

Need a well paced seinen manga that's either fantasy, sci-fi, or psychological with at least 8 volumes.

I need a well paced seinen manga that's either fantasy, sci-fi, or psychological with at least 8 volumes that's either completed or consistently gets updated to replace Rebuild World while I wait for it to get a couple more volumes out.

I'd prefer something sci-fi that's not set in space, but feel free to recc something else.

Also, if the manga has SA or ideation, please warn me, as I can deal with them a lot better if I can handle this a lot better.

It would also really help me out if you mentioned at least 2 titles, and mentioned stuff outside of the most popular titles like Berserk.

Please suggest anime where a fan sub has done their best work on

When I was in highschool I remember seeing all sorts of fansubs. A lot were silly but there were also many that had a ton of work put into them. Especially compared to the default subs you'd find on official releases.

I remember one time seeing a scene where a character lit up with enthusiasm and the subs themselves were rainbow and waving. Or like sometimes the subs matched the theme of the scene. All text in every scene would be translated.

There was a funny one I also remember where a character was talking and started talking faster and faster and the subs were sliding across the screen at an increased pace. Little things like that.

Here is an example, though is kinda silly, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqiVJJt3_KY&t=4s. It really added a lot to shows. Notice the effects they do. They would do these in more serious and immersive ways instead of only silliness.

Here is another one with one of the Monogatari OP's. Notice how the art of the opening switches between older and more modern anime styles. Well the fansub group decided to make the actual subtitles reflect that with the old yellow subs aesthetic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvIEztK_gwQ
