Takako Fuji was easily one of the most pleasant guests I’ve had the experience to meet. Would love to see her again at another convention
In general Tomie's films don't have the place that, plot-wise, they could have next to the great classics. At first I thought that, due to the long 8-film length, each film would be worse. But I'm on my fourth and the quality is reaching unthinkable quotas. For now, Tomie: Replay remains in my memory.
It has scenes that have nothing to envy, as I said, to the classics. In fact, I think Replay is considerably better than all the ringu movies.
Its biggest problem is the pacing. It's slow and despite some very powerful scenes, what's in between is not a good articulation of the final work. Still, I compare it to other j horror, and it is simply superior.
I loved it so much. The lil details made it much more interesting. It was so goooodd. Can you guys suggest some more like it, it doesn't have to be found footage or japanese
I loved the Ringu movies and I really enjoyed Nightmare Detective, any recommendations that are similar to these?
Hello everyone! Can you recommend guro-film like Guinea Pig/Niku Daruma/Tetsuo/Watashi no akai harawata (hana)?
one of the two spin-offs from Tomomatsu’s Lust of the Dead franchise!
Hello! I'm trying to figure out which Koji Shiraishi works contain the "ectoplasmic space worms" outside of Noroi/Cult/Occult. I know "Record Of Sweet Murder "also has them, and the first episode of "Senritsu" has the woman briefly mentioning Kagutaba, but are there any others?
I see lots of new users coming here asking for movie recommendations, so it might be fun to post photos of your latest DVD, VHS, VCD or Blu-ray purchases for everyone to see.
Pictures have been enabled for the comments, so post away.
What did y’all think of this movie? I’d held off on this movie for years. Reason being I saw that it was a musical. One night it came on Samsung tv, and I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised. I wished I’d of watch it sooner.
I remember watching it in my childhood. If I remember the story correctly, a boy builds a person-sized wooden doll to resemble his friend or something. Then one day, the boy takes the doll on his bicycle and goes to toss it away at a construction site. The doll then comes alive and goes back to his house on a rainy storm day. This is the whole story as I remember it. Thank you in advance.
Hi everyone! I’ve been trying to find where to watch this film for ages but with no luck. I have found a website and Twitter page for the film, but no luck outside of this. Was just wondering if anyone here knows where to find it? Thank you!
Which episode is the best one in terms of creepiness and story line in Japanese tales of macabre
Hello Guys and Gals and everything in between!
SO I've been a J-horror fan for a while, and I've watched most of the older J-horrors (Ju:on, Noroi, Dark water, One Missed call, Ringu etc)
My issue now is, I am not hearing of any new good J-horrors coming out, SO I ran out of J-horror to watch. Am I just out of touch or have the horror movie releases slowed down? If you have any new J-horror that you would recommend, please do so! :)
Could a loved one of a victim who hasn't been exposed to the curse destroy it? What if a construction company wanted to demolish the house? Or a war happened and a missile struck it? What would the outcome be? Could Kayako stop it?
Anything that's not too gory and or contains SA....I'm fine with jumpscares and anything else ig. If m asking 4 too much in terms of things not included just put trigger warnings pls
I was asking chatGPT for help finding an old horror film, and this is what they came back to
The short film you’re describing might be “Hairy Tale” (also known as “Kata”), a Japanese horror short from the early 2000s. It’s a chilling black-and-white piece that fits your description well. It revolves around a woman being haunted by a mysterious, hair-covered child figure. The ending, where hair overtakes her, matches what you described.
Does anyone knows where I can watch this? I really want to feel that nostalgia.... Thanks
I'm new to J Horror, and while I don't like watching horror movies, I do enjoy taking a bite off of them. I'm new to horror movies, but my partner really enjoys them. Anyway, any recommendations for J Horror with a good story yet a few jump scares?
Are these who ring shows any good and worth watching?
I just finished making a Japanese subtitle file for Ringu Kanzenban リング 完全版 (1995) timed to the LaserDisc rip on YouTube and uploaded to Jimaku for anyone interested. I did it purely for myself, but if it helps anyone else, then great.
I'm making this post to help me decide what to tackle subbing next. This time, I'd like to know what other people in the j-horror community might want so that I can help someone other than myself in the process. I don't think I'll start immediately though, just to give myself some time to rest and not burn myself out.
I have the following up for consideration:
Ju-on: The Curse 呪怨 (2000)
Tales of Terror From Tokyo 怪談新耳袋 (2003)
Audition オーディション (1999)
None of these are started yet. They're just the ones I have in mind because I feel like they'll be relatively easy to tackle (on top of me actually liking the films in question, of course), but I'm open to suggestions as well, especially if there's something that enough people request.
[EDIT]: Just so we're clear, when I say "JP subs", I didn't mean "English text to make Japanese audio understandable to non Japanese speakers". What I meant was "Japanese text transcription of Japanese dialogue". You hear: "Isshuukan-go ni shinu" and you see: "一週間後に死ぬ", but you don't see "You will die in a week".
Sony is thinking about buying Kadokawa. This will effect the Ring, Ju-on The Grudge, One missed call and I think Tomie
What other horror movies are owned by Kadokawa
