Hey, I just finished the show “the gentlemen” on Netflix and really enjoyed the whole power dinamic of a strong lead taking control over situations, and the “will they-won’t they” romance.
Preferably with a strong women as well.
Any recommendations of similar shows?
Need show and/or movie recommendations.
Shows/movies I liked:
I really want to cry but no matter I tried, no tears came out and my heart feels like a thousand tons attached to it. Would love to know every show (especially short movies, I don't really have time for series) that makes you cry nonstop for hours.
Which do you guys prefer/think is better Lucifer or Manifest?
As title suggests, appreciate any recommendations around series like Turning point. Essentially on War / geo politics.
I do not have hulu or amazon.
Shows I've liked:
Shows I didn't like/finish:
Preferably Netflix (which is why I posted here) but I have HBO as well. Open to other genres as well. Open to foreign/subtitled! Not super into sci-fi but am open if it's done well and isn't the main genre.
I just found out there’s a new season of Somebody feed Phil
Anybody else enjoys this food travel docuseries?
I’m grounding myself from social media for a while and want to watch things that are informative! Please send all your recommendations
Open to anything, especially Korean!
if you watched this doc or you just want to learn more about the troubled teen industry, theres a web comic about elan school that shows a lot more about what happened in the program.
its uncensored, and really well written. i dont read but i couldnt put my phone down when it came to this comic. it also explores self discovery and psychedelics, theres a very good storyline that isnt just abuse after abuse. reddit helped a lot with the closing of this school which is kinda cool. ill try to tag the posts. theyre still up.
The movie or series that I prefer is one where the main characters are children or it's about family, etc. Any genre is okay, I prefer Korean or Japanese movies or series (from 2020 to 2024, preferably recent ones).
In which Episode of Breaking Bad Bryan Cranston gave the best / your favorite acting performance?
Is there any app or website which lists all the series, movies, reality shows and documentaries across all the platforms with details like rating, review, where it's available to stream and more? Need this find something to watch, specifically those which are good but goes unwatched because it wasn't popular.
Animated or not. preferably something consistent, and comfort shows are a plus
Looking for relatively recent highly rated dramas/thrillers to watch with my Asian parents. If sex scenes appear my mum will shout at me as if I’ve personally asked the director to include them so I’m looking for top dramas sans sex. I really wanted to watch One Day with her but ended up having to practically skip whole episodes which left her fairly confused.
For an example of what works, the Maid or Killing Eve are good examples where there’s just relatively brief sequences that I can easily skip without it impacting our enjoyment of the rest of the show.
I’m into high quality series that are around 10 eps max per season and just 2-3 seasons at most. So no long running series that just routinely churn out eps please.
Circa 2017 - the show was set up like a ‘Everybody loves Raymond’ type thing. Canned laughter. Goofy husband. BUT he was actually really mean to his wife (the protagonist). The show had a lacquer of domestic violence - and the visual treatment switched when she was in scenes on her own. Someone please remind me what this show was called!!! Thanks in advance. 🙏
I have been watching rom com movies which I watched previously afterso long. First was Trainwreck : That movie I could not get passed 30 min, the roles were reversed was a good thing but Amy Schumer's character was so unlikable It was funny at start but went downhill with jokes too. I am wondering how the hell I watched it when it was released. Second movie I watched was Sierra Burgess is a loser : I remember when it came I only watched it for Noah Centineo because the plot was so wrong in so many languages. Do you guys have movies which you liked first and then after so many years you wondered why the hell I liked that?
Just got home from my operation have a couple weeks to kill. Any binge worthy incredible shows to help speed up the forseeable future and make the recovery a little easier?
Something with fantastic character development, amazing actors and a brilliant captivating storyline.
Shows I loved and potentially watched multiple times:
The Punisher, Peaky Blinders, Taboo, The Gentlemen(New), Altered Carbon, Limitless (Series & Movie), Daredevil, Cobra Kai, OnePiece(2023), Suits, Obliterated, The Queens Gambit, Blue Eyed Samurai, Ratched, Sherlock, Shooter, How to get Away with Murder..
Seen Ozark and Breaking Bad, wasn’t much of a fan 😬 apologies haha.
Off the top of my head I thinks that’s everything I’ve enjoyed thus far may be missing a few.
Thanks!
Just finished this German limited series and wow what a roller coaster! I was baffled by the ending and still trying to understand the message...
Has anyone seen it? what did you think?
Not necessarily “best of Netflix” but I hope people find this documentary-series and learn the truth about this tragedy so it ends now.
I have just completed watching The ugly truth movie again after 10 years. I remembered it as a comedy romantic one but seeing it again opened my eyes i mean how sexist that movie was and what a chauvinist Gerald Butlers character was.
Similar to movies to:
Don’t Breathe
Run
Alone
Get Out
Fall
Pretty much anything thriller/horror/suspense. Thanks!
Hey!! Any good suggestions on which comedy series to watch on Netflix
So I find amazing shows and once I finish the series, I think I’ll never find another one that I’ll enjoy. Then maybe after sometime, I fall in love again. My favorites are Beef, Fleabag, Girl Boss, Friends From College, Insecure, Physical, The Office, Modern Family, Ted Lasso and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Any other recommendations with similar greatness?
Hi everyone! What was your feel on Millie Bobby Brown's Damsel movie? Is it worth the time? Thank you...
To Kill A Tiger did what India's Daughter was banned from doing. Addressing the rape culture deeply rooted in India's society often disguised under veil of culture is wonderfully exposed as is the thought of men and women alike on victim blame. What shocked me is the female defense attorney saying she can't trust her own son so every woman needs to "avoid" rape. Hats off to the child of 13, who stood up against three men, a village and a society which blamed her. What is your opinion on the documentary?
Looking for a new Sci-Fi show to watch, and seen a preview of Altered Carbon. It’s got me curious but I wanted to see y’all’s opinions before I gave it a try. (No spoilers would be greatly appreciated) Any other recommendations are more than welcome. Thank y’all for your time.
EDIT: Thank you all for your feedback, it was extremely helpful. I appreciate it very much, gonna give it a watch!!
