Starbreak is truly one of the games of all time. It likely will not receive updates for the rest of its life, though the server will be maintained for the foreseeable future. The game has one of the highest barriers to entry of any game I have ever played, one of the most toxic communities I have ever been a part of (slurs and insults are more common than civil speech), pvp is incredibly common despite being a pve game, its permadeath so that adds to the tilt of getting pvped, and the game required mods to be playable at a high level.
However, if you get into it, this game is the best of its niche. ROTMG and all similar games are nothing compared to this. There are no bugs that you would encounter without going out of your way to do so, if you play on steam lag is very rare and manageable. The thing that puts this game leagues above all similar games is the mechanics and design of the game. The missions are incredibly unique, and the movement systems are very refined and enjoyable to use. There is always another goal in site, especially when it comes to soloing dungeons - most people take around 2- 3 years to be able to solo the most difficult dungeon. The soundtrack is incredible, though it does lack a bit of variety.
Yeah thats about it.
You should try it if you enjoy being rewarded greatly for loosing your mind.
Hi, sorry this is a blank account. I’m mostly a lurker on Reddit.
My perception of MMOs hasn’t always been great. As a kid, I enjoyed them, but stopped playing them when I got older because many were toxic. I’m a 27 year-old woman. I’m a super open person, and I love meeting people who are different than me, and who are kind and open minded as well. I’ve looked into some games that sounded interesting to me. Sea of Theives had been on my radar for a while, but every time I check back, I hear continuous reports that majority of the people are very toxic and mean-spirited (idk what I was expecting for a pirate game honestly). I also really want to keep the amount of misogyny to a minimum. There’s more than enough in my day-to-day. Call me soft or whatever, but I’m an easygoing person who literally just wants to play a game and have fun. I’m looking to see if communities that are open, kind, and welcoming exist, and what games might be a good fit. My favorite games are cozy farming/life sim games, but I really like survival, strategy, and adventure as well. Huge Legend of Zelda fan my whole life too. I definitely prefer games that are a one-time purchase, or that don’t have micro-transactions.
Are there any games you would suggest for a newbie looking for friendly people and servers? Thank you so much for looking at my post and any help you may offer.
so I'm looking for a fun build for wowasc. either totally free pick or follow a build, or follow one of the premades (sun cleric, etc)
I want something that shines good boy (lol) and good ol' boy.

Gamers,
Almost 30 years ago I began my gaming journey on a Playstation, enjoying the likes of Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot, Driver [XBOX], Wipeout and Formula One. Over two decades ago, my PC gaming journey began when my mates installed Warcraft III: The Reign of Chaos on my parent's PC and every time the phone rang we lost our 4v4 Random Team game due to a disconnect.
Since then, I have played Warcraft III, World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2 and then pretty much WoW non-stop until now with various other games in between.
In February I am becoming a father, in March I'm settling on my first home and getting a promotion in work. I picked up my Switch the other day and started a new save on FFVIII, installed Vampire Survivors on my PC and realised I actually just no longer enjoy logging into WoW. I have no desire to play FFXIV, the only other real "competitor" to it in the genre either, having played ESO and GW2 extensively in the past.
However, even when playing FFVIII (8) on my Switch and having gone to bed way too late playing Vampire Survivors last night, the itch is not fully satisfied like a competitive game with an artificial sense of progression does.
As my free time becomes less and less, I'm reaching out to seek help to try and enjoy these single player games more or to hear from others who have just "fallen" out of love with their preferred genres -- for me MMOs and RTSs (although Age of Mythology is so f*cking good I can't stop watching content for that) -- over time and what they did next. Is the solution just get stuck into a "cosy" game like Stardew Valley, focus on a JRPG or is it more along the lines of Vampire Survivors (DRG: Survivor is fun too).
I do plan on picking up STALKER 2 and the new Dragon Age game eventually. The Steam Deck is releasing in about a month in my local market which I am, of course, looking forward to. But gaming-wise, I am stuck and I need help. Mental stimulation is a huge part of why I turn on my PC everyday I can and, for me, this has been either gaining ranking on ladder (RTS) or getting a kill on a end-tier raid boss in WoW. Ethics aside, WoW and Blizzard games just aren't doing that for me now and with the significant change in personal circumstances coming, I have no intention of picking up a competitive game to start from scratch again. Single player games are the obvious solution but no matter what avenue I go down, I can't seem to find the right fit for me from the 100's of games I have accumulated over the years.
Really interested in hearing my fellow gamer legends thoughts and feedback on this one.
Sorry if it's weird, just tell me what to get or farm and I'll get it send me a message if someone is interested, you can be demanding (again sorry)
Been playing a lot of WoW and I wanna play more MMOs, I've played a few but I want more! New, old, alive or dead. Doesn't matter!
I've played Ultima Online, but was wondering if there was a more modern MMO that had these features. New World kind of scratched that itch with chopping trees, but the rest of the game didn't do it for me there. Curious what other recommendations there are out there.
Hi All,
I’m a bit new to Reddit and have already learned a lot posting the game Ive been developing. It’s important to engage the community before self promoting. It’s kind of like don’t expect to get lucky on the first date. :) Also, it’s important to set the expectations.
The game I’m developing is one I have envisioned for years and I have been unsuccessful in finding. I wish to play a true MMO RTS but none have successfully combined the multiplayer experience with the micro unit control. If any of you have experienced one please let me know.
Mine Wars Online is a prototype of that vision. It is not a polished a+ game but it works and I’m looking for people to help me test it and improve on the vision. The cool thing here is that if you ever envisioned a game I’m open to implementing your ideas.
For now the objective of the game is to take control over the center of the map. You start off in a safe zone and take over territory and combat other players as you progress. Would you help me test the vision? For the month of October we are holding a competition, the empire who can take control over the center city and hold it by the end of the month wins and I will send a $100.00 gift card. Please register at www.minewarsonline.com
I'm looking for some games to play with my friends, preferably for a long time, we're wondering if there's something that puts a lot of focus on co-op, and some (semi-)social activites, with some combat there and there but that's not a must. The sandbox thing may be a bit out of spectrum of mmo not entirely sure, but i know maplestory2 for ex and transformice(i think it counts as a mmo?) had something like that on some extents, like at least being able to decorate your house/base/clan thing as freely as possible. Anyway we looking for something like that, silly with fun things to do in, and not very grindy, but in which our progress matters, at least to some extent, like having some sense of growth other than just numbers/currency
Is there any other games for MMO other the Black Desert Mobile? It’s boring now and definitely p2w.
Quinfall is an MMORPG game developed and published by Vawraek Technology, the game is currently in closed beta test, and today I will be sharing my experiences with it and try to help you with deciding give the game a try or not, let's start.
Character creation was quite detailed, in fact, this was one of most detailed if not most character creation options I have ever seen in any MMO, even tho character models feel too stock-based it's still pretty good considering all those options the game has, it's bit messy tho, but still quite detailed for sure.
The prologue & story were quite boring, NGL after that character creation screen I was waiting for at least kind of decent lore, story, and prologue, but sadly it wasn't good at all. In fact, questing was even worse, all quests feel exactly the same and quite boring to do.
Movement is quite janky and feels bad, core combat mechanics are better, but they still feel kind of chunky, but they are not as bad as movement and along with using skills combat doesn't feel terrible, it still feels amateurish, but it's better than movement for sure.
Skills are based on weapons you use and the more you use the more skills you open, so it gives a good progress feeling from that point, skills are bit too flashy and amateurish, but not that bad either.
Aside from combat, there are some life skills as well, I didn't experience all of them, but fishing and taming were quite basic and had nothing special going on.
Along with PVE content we have PVP content as well, there are two different servers now and one of them has open-world PVP, meanwhile other is don't, but both servers have a very basic PVP mod called ''Arena Battle'' and it's based on capturing a flags, but it since gears and levels are not balanced it's not enjoyable at all to play, and honestly PVP combat is far worse and chanky than PVE combat since enemies are real human and moves unlike PVE enemies who mostly stand and not move that much.
Enemy & BOSS variety feels quite poorly made since all enemies & BOSSes feel exactly same and you don't feel any difference while fighting with different enemies, especially human enemies are quite samey and that makes combat quite boring.
The open world looks quite amateurish with all stock-based design, unsafe area designs are not good, but safe areas are even worse, especially seeing the exact same villagers, etc, over and over again kills the alive open world feeling. Aside from these, there are some problems related to finding where to go in the open world as well because there are no markers on the minimap, and finding NPCs can sometimes be challenging since the game only shows them on the big map, so that's another thing to consider.
Sounds & music is not good, it constantly cycles between a couple bad songs and they are quite loud as well.
The game looks like a stock-based amateurish school project, anything about the visual part like HUD or UI or skills, etc, is the same, and despite using stock-based visuals the game has terrible optimization and performance, as you can see in the video I struggled to get higher FPS than thirty, weirdly the game gives nearly same FPS on every quality setting as well and almost unplayable, even tho it's closed beta having this bad optimization with stock-based visuals is unacceptable.
PROS
- Character creation is quite detailed.
CONS
- Story, lore, prologue & questing is quite boring.
- Movement is quite janky.
- PVP content is too basic, unbalanced and it's not enjoyable at all along with how PVP combat is.
- Enemy & BOSS variety is bad.
- Open world is not well-designed.
- Sounds & music are bad.
- The game is too stock-based, and everything looks too amateurish.
VERDICT
This is a closed beta, so I can't talk for sure how the full release of the game will be, but if they don't change 90% of the game then aside from character creation I don't see any reason to play this game, so for now I would advice not playing and not having high hopes for full release either.
On video format for anyone who wanna see visual details, etc, as well: https://youtu.be/Ng2XVShfD7s
A long time ago (maybe like 10 years ago) i found a free to play MMORPG , 2.5D like Diablo. I remember that once you kill a monster there was a chance you could tame it and it would fight alongside you.
