Recently i soloed from 9-10 on my paladin which took me about 6-8 hours. I have decent gear and was comfortably soloing yellow con non-group mobs in avendyr and with luck or use of LoH can bring down an orange con. Paladin feels like it has a lot going for it when solo as you get acess to good mitigation through plate gear and good defensive skills on top of having very solid healing. Only orange con mobs and above seem to have the ability to break my tank. The DPS doesnt seem crazy but its serviceable enough to bring down mobs in a timely manner. In addition you have no down time as a Paladin as all your resources are generated through combat so the less down time you have the stronger you are.
I am curious how other classes do soloing. Can most classes solo? How does solo xp conpare to grouping? What mechanics do classes use to enable them to solo?
Curious on everyone’s opinions about loot mechanics built into the game. At the moment, there appears to be free for all looting and round robin when in groups. Most groups agree to call out the stats on items and /roll 100 if more than 1 person wants it.
I love the old school nature of the game. I love the limits on QOL things, like maps. Do you all feel like there should be group loot windows with Need and Greed options when someone loots? So far, I’ve grouped with a lot of loot ninjas that right clicking that corpse the moment something dies. Sure, the big stuff gets rolled on, but sellable junk gets pretty hoarded. On one hand, I like how the community generally is pretty great about this, on the other hand, it’s ripe for abuse.
What do you all think? Yay or nay to that QOL feature?
Google says talk to Tavern Keeper but he offers nothing. I’ve run around town looking in all the buildings. Maybe I missed it but for the love of Terminus I can’t find the trainer.
Help?
Have to add I’m playing this game nonstop. Even just sitting on couch watching TV running around harvesting all the things. Really enjoying Wiz and Cleric.
Stop fucking whining oh my God.
75% of you whiny fucks didn't do any research.
"Why isn't there a map? boohoo" "Why is it so hard?" "Why do I need to group to progress?" "Why isn't there XYZ?"
Because it's fucking alpha. Google how development works. Google what this type of MMO is about. You're not sitting in Stormwind sucking on Blizzards tit so you can safely queue up for dungeon after a Dungeon and do 0 exploration.
I have seen some conflicting sources. Is readiness generated by attacks such that use faster weapons would generate more readiness. Or is it generated per unit of time? If attacks generate it, is it generated on both dual wield swings?
Thought I would give the game a try. Knew it was extremely group focused. The cracks really form right here.
Player shortages makes the game basically non-functional. Ive been trying to find some people for hours and couldn't find anybody at all to group with. The only players I saw were killing very low level mobs. Soloing past the first several level's is not even a option. None of those players wanted to group with anyone and seemed like they were just testing if they like the game.
I knew Pantheon is going to be a very niche game, but if you cannot even have the player numbers to support heavy grouping, then its a lost cause. The main reason why every group focused MMORPG died out was because being unable to find people means you cannot progress and almost everyone quits. Game companies lose money and they have to change the way the game plays to get more people or shut down. Hell, even the original Everquest is super solo friendly now when you compare to its release.
The boredom might get me to do a charge back. I really wanted to like this game, but it just released and there isn't that much going on in player activity and its only getting worse from here. A highly group and socially dedicated game requires a huge number of players to function properly. Pantheon unfortunately does not have that.
I just tested this, which is fairly easy to do as an Enchanter using Entrance.
I cast Entrance on a mob, and immediately sat down. I had 89 mana. By the time Entrance, which lasts 33 seconds, wore off, I was at 103 mana.
I then cast Entrance a second time, and I was at 93 mana. By the time Entrance wore off 33 seconds later I was at 94 mana. This is a test that is pretty easy to replicate.
This test in particular may actually not yield the best results since Entrance slowly drains your mana, but it reiterates how important it is to sit during combat if you're an Enchanter who is trying to keep a mob CC"d so it doesn't kill your group. You will regenerate mana fast enough to chain CC the mob even with the drain in effect.
I've seen a lot of people in-game raging at other players for sitting during pulls, and just saw this thread:
https://seforums.pantheonmmo.com/content/forums/topic/15983/change-my-mind-sitting-during-combat-is-inefficient
But was unable to respond to it since it isn't allowing new members to sign up for the forums now that the pledge has ended.
The test I did is pretty easy to replicate if anyone wants to test it for themselves. I don't know where this idea came from that you don't gain significantly more mana from sitting during combat. But it's not true. I imagine if you're using a spell that doesn't drain mana that it's probably even more significant.
Additionally, as a caster, I feel like I would be bad if I was running up and trying to melee. Because Mireguards immediately AOE every player around them and silence them for 6 seconds, and Flickermages spam AOE that does quite a bit of damage to squishies. Additionally I need to be sitting quite a bit away from my group in order to effectively CC patrols.
This isn't like EverQuest where you can just CC a mob on top of your group BTW. I learned this the hard way. Almost all of the abilities in the game seem to have some type of cleave mechanic built into them, and if you CC the mob near your group the CC will get broke almost instantly.
I just don't think it's a good strategy for an Enchanter to be running up and trying to melee a mob for 2 points of damage and eating a ton of AOE and cleave instead of meditating so we can keep chain pulling mobs and dealing with adds accordingly.
In hindsight Arcane Cords (root) may be a better test than Entrance, but I already spent like 10 minutes typing this and just want to see if I can get a group instead of hanging out in the noob area testing this, lol.
I'm looking for a slower and more methodical MMO to play in my free time. I've recently been bitten by the WoW HC big, but I'm thinking I want a game where each character hasn't seen the fun optimized out of it. If I'm not concerned with character wipes, is Pantheon a good fit?
I purchased one of the Patheon packages years ago at the urging of my father. I can't honestly recall what pack it is as I believe it was 2014 or 2015 when I purchased it. Unfortunately my father didn't survive heart surgery in July and I purchased the pack to play with him. Unfortunately when the we gained access to the alpha, he was in poor health and awaiting a heart transplant and I just had too much going on with work and family. I don't have his key but I still have mine and the reality is, I just don't want to play the game without him so I'm posting my key here for someone to use. Hopefully it goes to someone who actually needs it rather than someone who already has one or could otherwise afford to purchase the game but I do recognize that this is the internet so my expectations are low.
If you use the key, please be kind and post that you are claiming it so others don't waste their time. Happy Holidays!
The biggest complaint I've seen so far has been corpse runs. They suck to be sure, but it doesn't have to be a hunt every time. Because summoners and necromancers are going to get burned out from the constant requests for a corpse summon, or you might not be able to find one, here's a tip to help you recover without aimlessly wandering around where you thought you died.
First, make a macro for location, using /loc
Before you release from your now dead body, use your macro, and do whatever you need to do to remember that number. This will give you a 3 coordinate location of where you are.
This breakdown is (E/W), (elevation), (N/S). So now after you release, you can spam the location macro as you run until the numbers are moving in the right direction. It can be tedious, but it's better than running around with just a vague idea of where you may have dropped.
And maybe keep an extra torch in the bank for those night time runs.
I feel dumb, very very dumb, where is the cliff in the west I'm supposed to climb to listen to the spirits? I spent an hour climbing every cliff , to no avail.😫
Is there an option to place a space in between a first and last name? Or didni miss out because all thw good names are taken?
I died twice, once lost all my stuff, gold still intact.
The second time I died, I went back to the same place and there was no dead body there.
Obviously, people could still use chat to trade, but a board you could go to that shows what people want to buy and at what price would be neat.
Once you found someone wanting the thing you have you send them a letter detailing out the transation, and if they add it to the game, mail-bound trades.
This would definitely help out with obtaining crafting items that come from different professions than the one you're using.
I think it would be neat while still keeping the social philosophy of the game.
Here are my deep dive takes into the game from my experience of the first 10 levels. Just for some background i played Runescape as my main MMO in my childhood as well as played quite a few years of EQ mainly on TLP servers and have also dabbled into MMOs like EvE Online amd Albion Online.
We will start with the things i dislike or would like to see improved/changed. Disclaimer as this is early acess i am giving a pass to anything i would consider QoL and mainly just evaluating core mechanics.
Item Sinks. One of my biggest issues with EQ compared to other MMOs is the lack of item sinks. Non-consumable items tend to be overly valuable in the beggining (think bags) and become worthless later as they pile up over time. This puts a lot of pressure on the devs to keep power creeping items so there is always stuff for players to chase and while has fun aspects it has the issue of devaluing early content. Pantheon currently doesnt seem to have a good system for removing non consuable items from the game other than corpses rotting which we I will talk more about later. EVE Online out of all the MMOs I have played has done item sinks the best where it is common to lose stuff and all your items you have are to be thought as temporary. This creates a thriving ecosystem for players and opens a ton of different playstyles.
Death penalty The death penalty seems somehow too soft and too hard which makes it more annoying than anything and currently has anti-synergy with one of the better parts of the game: exploration. Personally I would like the xp penalty removed from death and instead lose ALL items on death. This way if i want to explore dangerous places i can bank my rare items and don a lower quality set of gear that i wont miss if i lose it and take a calculated risk in venturing into dangerous areas. If i die in some unrecoverable location i just eat the gear loss instead of risking losing my levels. This also helps with item sinks and creates a more healthy economy of gear flowing in and out of the game.
Banking I can understand restrictions on inventory so you have to make strategic decisions on what to bring adventuring but I do not understand restrictions on bank space especially with how far banks seem to be from each other. While you can expand your bank space by putting bags in the bank i don't see the need for so few slots to begin with. Item wieght, limited inventory, and loss of items on desth already seem to accomplish the job of item management limited bank space just feel overly punnishing/cumbersom.
Okay enough whinning lets move on to what i have loved so far.
NPCs Pantheon is a strong contender for having some of the most engaging NPC. It feels very rewarding to pay attention and learn what NPCs do and react to them. Most MMOs have really boring NPCs and just run up and melee you and cast some spells sometimes especially at low levels. In addition the consistency between similar NPCs feel great as knowlege from past experiences helps you later and it really contributes to the skill ceiling of the game. For example fighting the newbie skeletons you get exposed to some debuffs which the higher level skeletons in a totally different location also use. The same can be said for the rock throw the goblins use to knock you down which seems to be shared universally with all goblin enemies.
Combat Pantheon said they wanted to give strategic reward combat and they have delivered. Unlike many MMOs you have many abilities early on and proper use of thouse abilties is required. Especially playing a tank where in many games its just spamming aggro abilties and praying the heals come in, Pantheon makes you work to mitigate damage and timing that parry or reflect with the proper enemy attack feels very impactful. Specifically with the Paladin having to choose between when you mitigate damage, deal damage or build aggro feels very skill expressive. There is no mindless clicking or repetitive rotations. Every moment in combat has you engaged. Also the synergies between classes through the "state" mechanics. Recently i discovered that mages can put a powerful slow on a target if i use a Paladin technique that puts them in the exposed state. This adds a whole layer of strategy to the game to properly take advantage of all your synergies.
Exploration With all terrain being traversable and the vastness of the map there seems to be endless. I spend hours alone trying to see if i could get to certain places just to see if there was anything interesting. Once I even stumbled upon a treasure chest which just further stoked my curiosity. Panteon has good systems for making exploring both intersting and rewarding.
Overall Pantheon has become my favorite MMO even in its early acess state and I feel it has the core foundations to become one of the best MMOs of all time.
i frequently see people whining that the game is too dark at night even tho you don’t need a torch to see in Thronefast 😹
see people whining about how the game doesn’t have a map (even though it has a compass, and a way to track your group members very easily, a luxury EQ didn’t have)
whining that CRs are too hard (even though you respawn with your gear, healers can Rez at super low level, summoners can summon corpses etc.)
im seeing all of these people rage about how pantheon needs to get with the times and how antiquated they think it is and I’m genuinely baffled
what do they want? For Pantheon to be World of Warcraft with worse graphics and no PvP?
for me this game is close to ideal gameplay-wise, but I see all these whiners point to classic wow having maps, bright nights, and easy CRs and argue that that is a classic mmo experience and that anyone claiming otherwise is crazy
i just don’t get it
Exploring the unknown, darkness falls, you must keep moving or repops will catch you. What is that ahead! Where are we? Is that a pair of corpses? It is, others died here, we must keep going or turn back. The sun rises and you see a danger you so nearly walked into. You all make it out with full bags and XP. 90 minutes have passed in a blink.
It's not always easy to get everyone pointed in the same direction, but when it does come together, wow, what a unique and fun experience.
Edit grammar
I was solo leveling in Wild's End with my summoner, and I got a message "You learned Force". And my spellbook now has a new spell named "Force" which says it causes the "Opening Gap" status.
Does anyone know what this is about? There's nothing in the wiki about it. The spell itself also does a (tiny) amount of damage, but not enough to warrant ever casting it. It claims that "Opening Gap" can enable the use of other abilities, but doesn't explain more than that.
I'm not even clear on what I did to acquire the skill. Has anyone else gotten an ability like this?
Doesn't seem to matter what changes I make in the settings. I can max everything out or I can turn everything as low as possible and there is barely any change at all. I've tried several "fixes" but I'm seeing no difference. Anyone else experiencing this?
For whatever reason, windows had been forcing the game to run on my onboard graphics, so I was getting really poor fps in some areas.
Managed to force the game to use my GPU (4070 btw..) and noticed that it was at 95-100% usage and the temps started flying way above what they would on much more graphically demanding games.
I've really been enjoying the game but I refuse to burn my card out to play it.
So just a heads up.. check your temps.

Steam is having a sale December 19th and I was curious if anyone thinks this game has even a slim chance at getting a discount?
Likely I'm gonna buy it this weekend ($40 is just a bit high for right now) but I'm hoping it might drop a bit. That or I'll try and buy someone's buddy key I guess.
Long live being cheap
Early release. Anyone else ran into this problem and solved it. I have the vendor's window open and my inventory open and it does not allow me to sell my "droppable" items. Examples like bat blood and stuff. I could not sell. I have the vendor npc's window open and then press alt and the money bag comes up and right click nothing.
I am wonder if it has something to do with me on Linux via Steam? There shouldnt be an issue it's running fine other than this part. I just could not figure out what to do.
Anywhoos, any suggestion is welcomed. Thank you.
Is it just me or did anyone have trouble finding a name for their character. I have tried 20 different variations of the name I want and still saying unavailable. So I use the auto gen button and guess what still nothing available......
Any having this issue. I also tired multiple different servers and still same issue.
I am us west coast just wondering what's a popular server seems kinda empty where I'm at
I'm not a min/maxer, but I am a data nerd and I like to see how much dps I'm doing. I'd like to write my own compat parser, but as far I can tell the game doesn't log any combat information to a log file for parsing. Does anyone know if this is an option?
I know I'm probably in the minority here but where is my train mechanic! In a group camping skeletons and a group next to us ran a train of bandits through our camp and died down the hill. When the mobs ran back to their spawn area they went right back through our camp and ignored us. I was a little disappointed, the skelly group was easy and was ready for some CC action! 😅
Original 99' EQ release player here. Game has good bones so far, and is fun. So whats the release plan? I dont want to level this toon to 40 just to have him wiped. How many wipes will there be? Are there any DEV timelines or estimates we can track?
Im lvl 7 now on an ogre dire lord, and i havent found a single piece of armor while leveling, or a single weapon... when i got a group in goblin cave, they were all stunned by this fact and wasnt a very effective tank
what am i missing? I have seen some pieces drop when im in a group, but it was round robin loot and it was never my turn to loot while people looted cloth and leather armor, or weapons..
any suggestions on how i can equip myself with even basic cloth armor? all my item slots are empty, and i have virtually no money, can barely keep up with my spells/skills for each level from vendors
Hi everyone, I just bought the EA and played about 15 hours this weekend. Obviously having a blast, thanks to all you long-time supporters and the team that made it possible.
Now to my question, I am aware that Pantheons take a lot inspiration from Everquest. And EQ do not really have a true shapeshifter class, even if you can take many different forms or illusions.
I have followed quite a lot of devtalks from the team on YouTube, but I haven't been active on discord.
Has there been any talk, theories, discussions regarding tech required for a shapeshifter class more akin to vanilla WoW druid or Diablo 2 druid? It's my understanding that the upcoming druid for Pantheon will be more like EQ one (which is perfectly fine). Iam just curious and super excited for the future of the game :).
(As a sidenote it seems like a trend in the industry for shapeshifter classes. Diablo 4 released one, Poe2 will introduce their interpretation and also Grimdawn has it as a feature for their upcoming x-pack).
