Not going to lie, I’m enjoying watching the Wild getting their asses handed to them.

Given that Nashville's off-season signing experiment has produced horrendous results and Trotz is probably coming to the realization that they need more up-and-coming youth going forward, would we ever see a situation where Colorado at least inquires about former-beleaguered Avalanche player Ryan O'Reilly?

Even at 33 years old and removed from his peak years, O'Reilly would still be a serviceable PK weapon, he would give us someone sitting in the NHL Top 20 of winning faceoff percentages this year, and could act as a 2B option at center if Mittelstadt fails figure out his malfunctions and/or falls to injury. Plus at a price tag of 4.5 million until 2027, his contract is affordable. Beyond trying to acquire him for a price that isn't too steep (likely including picks we just acquired from the Rantanen deal and a prospect), he's an option to consider. O'Reilly and MacKinnon got along well during Ryan's tenure, he fits our playing style and his current contract does not include any trade protection.

Thoughts?

I don't know about you guys, but I feel a weight has been lifted since these trades. All the shit with our goal tending etc. We've had some mixed results, but I'm feeling like we've got something going here.

I was curious, if the cap goes up in the offseason would the avs be able to resign Rantanen if he doesn’t sign an extension with Carolina?

Felt like 1st line with 3 third lines that were all firing, kinda reminded me of 2022/23 kraken.

Like I would barely rank that second line above the 3rd and 4th. Nichushkin playing with Mitts and Drou could be a p strong line, or bump Lehk to 2nd and have colossus line of Val Nech Mack.

Anyway, I didn’t hate it, but we def don’t have a second line that compares with Jets, Stars, Kings, etc atm.

Who are you scratching if/when we get ChooChoo back?

Watched the Altitude post-game show for the first time in a while — when did they switch to the “late night” style with the couches?

Really liked that change, felt more laid back and it was cool to see them doing the Q&A with fans
