Seattle, WASH - June 18, 2024- Today, the Seattle Kraken (/r/SeattleKraken) announced that they have acquired forward Isac Lundestrom from Anaheim in exchange for forward Kailer Yamamoto and a 2024 7th round pick previously acquired from Calgary for Calle Jarnkrok in 2022.
Assistant General Manager /u/SiccSemperTyrannis said “We want to thank Kailer for his contributions to our club on and off the ice last season. He made history as the first Washington-born player to play for the Kraken and we wish him the best with the Ducks.”
Lundestrom, a 6’0 24 year old Swedish forward and a former 2018 Ducks 1st round pick, scored 11 points in 46 games for Anaheim last season and is a pending restricted free agent (RFA). He played an average of 14:20 per game last season with 2:02 on the penalty kill. Despite Anaheim finishing 30th in league standings, Lundestrom had the 9th-best even strength goal differential on the team at -2. He also featured on 2 of the Ducks’ 3 best line combinations in expected goals for% (minimum 20 minutes played).
“Isak put up impressive defensive and possession numbers with Anaheim last season despite missing the first half of the season to injury. We think he will contribute to the success of our team as a 4th line center and penalty killer with room for him to grow with the rest of our young core for years to come. We look forward to signing a new contract with Isak and his representatives in the coming weeks.”

Seattle, WASH - June 18, 2024- Today, the Seattle Kraken (/r/SeattleKraken) announced that they have acquired Pittsburgh’s 2025 3rd round pick in exchange for forward Brandon Tanev and Seattle’s 2024 7th round pick.
Assistant General Manager /u/SiccSemperTyrannis said “Brandon has been a significant contributor to our franchise on and off the ice since day 1 of our expansion draft and we want to thank him for everything he’s done. He quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his personality and tenacious play on the ice. We know Brandon enjoyed his prior time in Pittsburgh and we wish him the best back with the Penguins.”
/u/SiccSemperTyrannis continued “We felt that this move was necessary as Brandon was entering the final year of his contract. We gain cap space to make moves in the coming weeks to upgrade the top of our roster. We also gain another valuable draft asset that we can either use to acquire a player via trade or continue to build out our deep prospect pool. Finally, we have another open roster spot that week expect our young players to compete for in training camp this fall.”

As you may know, the Reddit hockey community organizes a mock offseason game each year to simulate what teams might do and have some fun. /u/I_am_Rude is GM of the Seattle Kraken this season and I'm serving as Assistant GM.
Trades are going to start later today. I plan to make posts in /r/SeattleKraken in the style of NHL press releases announcing trades, signings, draft picks, etc to provide some fun offseason content for the subreddit and foster a discussion about what real-life moves the Kraken might or might not make.
I will clearly mark each post with "[Mock Offseason]" in the title and link to this post in the body to avoid any confusion. I'll detail why we made certain moves and the sub can then discuss whether or not it is something that might make sense for the Kraken in real life.
Have any ideas of trades or free agent signings the Kraken should do? Let us know in the comments and we'll see if we can pull them off in the sim!

Hi there, I'm sorry for the newb question, I swear I tried to Google this --
Does anyone know (even roughly) when the 24-25 season schedule may be released? Obviously, I don't know squat about the NHL but I have a family member traveling from overseas that really wants to see a game in late October, so I want to be sure I plan ahead and snag tickets. Thanks in advance if you have any advice!
