With Trotz saying they want to lock up Saros long term. Does anyone else think going after Yaroslav Askarov is a good idea as long as the cost isn't insane? I was disappointed when the Sens didn't draft him in the first place.
Im Really looking Forward to the Draft but im also Nervous for our Pick due to the Uncertainty considering this is the New Front offices 1St Draft
I really Think we should Draft a Right Shot Defensemen however if Levshunov & Parekh are off the Board (which they Likely are ngl) i would be open to Drafting a Forward like Catton or Iginla
This is a Loaded defensemen Draft so we could take the Risk or Going Forward at 7 & Drafting a Defensemen with Bostons pick
I really like Parekh Buium (hes a LHD tho) Iginla Catton Silayev (is LHD but played the Right side all year in the KHL) i wouldnt mind Yakchemchuk but it would feel like a Reach
Who should we Draft ?
6’7” 205lbs shutdown d man, am I crazy or do we need this the guy.
Fantastic article by Ian today that gives a lot on Andlauer’s perspective this year.
Says he was disgusted by the all the Leafs fans in the building booing Brady during player introductions and told the players he loved Greig’s slap shot
“That slap shot was an exclamation point to the Toronto fans in our building. It wasn’t to slight the Maple Leafs players,” explains Andlauer. “To me, it was a statement to those fans who were in our house, booing our Ottawa Senators.”
On Green being the “budget hire”
“This coach may very well be getting paid more than what they pay for a coach in a larger market,” says Andlauer. “Let’s put it this way, this coach is getting paid more than any coach in the history of the Ottawa Senators.”
Also says he is not opposed to buyouts.
I’m pretty sick and tired of seeing anything related to the playoffs being all about complaining about reffing, missed calls, soft calls, etc. Is that only me? I can’t be the only person that feels that way.
As we drive towards the upcoming 2024 draft at the Sphere in Vegas, I wanted to take a look at the previous seventh overall picks to try to get an idea of who might be available at seventh. Historically, the results are pretty good. Quinn Hughes is a superstar and there are a few great other players. Just under half of the picks are defenseman. There is only one bust. The Sens should get a pretty good player at number 7 and there is a small chance they get a superstar.
See the list below to see this year's performance of each of the past 12 draft picks. I've sorted the list by 23' / 24' points per game but the data includes Y2Y - P/GP DifferentialY2Y - P/GP Differential, TOI, Goals, Assists, and SOG.
Why you think judging someone so negatively before they even got a chance to see what they even can do with THIS team matters to you?
Like why not simply give the guy 1 season MINIMUM with THIS team. How's that sound crazy to you?
Cause it must. Because you got some of you being so negative about hiring a coach who didn't have a above .500 winning record coaching 1 team that was dealing with very similar chaos we just went through with our previous owner.
That instantly tells me this guy has something to prove to HIMSELF, forget all of you or any body beyond himself. That's who he's pricing "I can do this" and I don't know about you people but that is exactly the kinda person I want leading these boys.
He got 20 games with a team who was going through the same shit as us where they didn't meet expectations and dealt with injured D and poor goalie production and he wasn't even the coach. He got even less time then Jacques Martin got with Ottawa this year. So I'm not going to even qualify that as anything. If anything it has him aware of what it was like here by the way Devils were.
So yeah, Do you ever ask yourself why You're so negative?
Give the man a season. Then go nuts and be negative if it goes as badly as you seem to think. You'll have proof at least and something to back it up. Now you just look like you want to be negative by choice.
Who is better and why? Trying to settle a debate.
Belleville is currently down 2-1 in the best-of-5 series.

I know I know it’s a leafs podcast, but they did have some insightful things to say about the hire. It definitely cooled my feelings about it, and makes sense from the corporate aspect of it.
I ask this for two reasons.
The first reason is that Belleville doesn’t seem to care much about the Sens, which is understandable since they’re predominantly Leafs fans. Belleville had the second lowest regular season attendance in the league this year, and they are still barely attracting 3k to playoff games. The 67s attract 4.8k fans on average and pack the house during playoffs. Maybe our farm team would be better off in a market where people actually cared about the Sens.
The second reason is that many other Canadian farm teams are having success by being close to their father teams (Laval, Toronto and Abbotsford being good examples, Calgary and Manitoba also have 4K on average respectively). I wonder if our farm team would be more successful being closer to home. Not to mention that having a team close to home would save the Sens money on transportation costs.
Would love to hear your thoughts.
I don't know a ton about prospects but I'll admit, I have a soft spot for Tij Iginla. NHL dna has worked well for us in the past. Should we give it another shot?
