It's an intriguing possibility: the Leafs bringing the Schenn brothers together in blue and white. I know I am dreaming a little, but how realistic could it be? 😅

We all know that Luke Schenn was great with Reilly a few years ago. While Schenn is a few years older now, he’s still got something left in the tank. He remains a physical presence and he’s the type of "glue guy" every locker room needs. Hopefully the chemistry with Reilly could be re-kindled. He has 2 more years left on his $2,750,000 cap hit.

Now Braden Schenn is the versatile 2nd/3rd line center that the Leafs desperately need. His offensive numbers are slightly down, but his value goes beyond the scoresheet. He’s a leader, a relentless two-way player, and someone who thrives in the trenches. In a playoff atmosphere, these are the kinds of players you win with. The problem is his cap hit is $6,500,000 for 3 more years. St. Louis wants to re-tool around their younger guys, so they would probably be willing to let him go for some prospects and picks.

Of course the salary cap addition will be a challenge -  its steep for a team like Toronto. There has to be some retention, 3rd team involvement, moving out cap space (ie: Kampf), send down to minors, etc. It wont be easy, but I really think they could be the right type of players to compliment the Leafs line up and the brothers love playing together. If the Leafs can make this work, the payoff could be huge.

What do you guys think? Please be easy on me (I know this might just a pipe dream), but still the type of move needed to finally make a serious playoff run. GLG. ✌

Been feeling this way for a while now and wondering if I’m alone in this thinking.

I understand that we pay the guy a lot and should rely on him to produce, but we pay him for his offence much more than his defence. I don’t understand why he is always on the ice in the last minute when the leafs have a 1 goal lead.

He’s not a physical player (6 hits in 52 games) which in my mind prevents him at times from breaking up the play by separating man from puck… or at least causing mayhem which can take time off the clock. He is also not overly eager to step in the lane and block shots (14 in 52 games).

Truth be told I’d rather see Holmberg, Lorentz, or Dewar out there instead of Nylander.

Am I crazy for thinking this?

Blows my mind how every away game they pay a premium to come out. I am a Canucks fan.

Ottawa is booing the National Anthem and now the Toronto Raptors are booing the Anthem. Got to admit, its satisfying to see a lot of Canadian Patriotism to stand up against US.

That game is what the playoffs need to look like. They took a finals capable Oilers down. Exceptional goal tending, defense and offense blocking everything. All the big names stepped up. I'm so used to every team coming into a Toronto home game like it's game 7 of the finals. It was so refreshing to see the Leafs go into those clowns barn and take it and play like game 7. Fuck the Oilers. Being out done but stealing the game is how it get's done. You could see it on the Oilers faces.

Or any American city where tickets are cheaper for that matter.

Okay so here is my reasoning of why we should not we have American athletes playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs our best player for the last 5 to 6 years is an American named Auston Matthews how would we as torontonians like to treat our American captain are American defenseman our linesman, are we willing to put this BS pettiness of what the states are doing because they have an orange idiot in charge or are we going to be better and respect are American athletes who play for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Do we really want to make those players feel unwelcome in the home team that they chosen to play with.
