I’m tired of Spectrum. Those who left, what provider did you move to?

Moved to Dallas a year ago. Tired of spectrum’s outages. Especially since I work remotely. At first it seemed like it would go out every time there’s a storm, now it just happens randomly. Any suggestions for a better provider or do they all have problems?

Radius Turtle Creek

We recently toured Radius Turtle Creek and really loved the unit! We just wanted to see if anyone who lived there before has anything to share good or bad before we sign a lease! We really like the turtle creek area!

How is parking? Is the building safe? Any major issues? If you loved it, why? Really any info!

Thank you :)

Typical age range at the village?

Looking at 1 bd apts at the village but worried it’s mostly geared toward recently graduated students in their early 20s.

As a single 30F, should I steer away from the village?

Shaddock Homes homeowners - how is your home holding up?

Shaddock Homes is one of the few builders that has a good rep but consistently uses low-quality building materials. I was wondering if there are any homeowners and how their Shaddock Home is holding up?

True/False - residential city inspectors are strict and do a good job in Collin County?

I'm told by like every builder (obviously) + actually some 3rd party inspectors (surprise) that the residential city inspectors in Collin County actually do a good job and have high standards. Any truth to that? and yes I plan to get an independent inspector either way

High school football tonight or next Friday?

Been meaning to experience a TX HS football game for the last few years, but the seasons always sneak by before I get around to it. Looking to finally check out a game tonight or next Friday night, but I'm finding the process of picking a good game to be difficult. There are far more teams/divisions/ticketing systems than I am used to where I'm from. Can any locals point out some proper options for this Friday or next? Doesn't necessarily need to be the biggest game of the week, but I hope to get the full experience. Starting in Dallas proper, for distance purposes.

Dance clubs recommendations

Im looking for bars or clubs where people actually dance!! My friends and I (22-24 yrs old) love going out but I’ve realized that not a lot of people actually like to dance. There will be a “dance floor” but no one’s dancing they’re all just standing there talking. We’ve been to a few places in Deep Ellum but again not a whole lot of dancing and a whole lot of standing. Idk if it’s just the places we went to or what. I did really like shot topic though. I’ve also been to ‘09. The music wasn’t super diverse (we all have a wide range of music tastes) and the crowd can often be really rude and disrespectful but I also think that comes with being an 18+ club. Then in Fort Worth I really like studio 80 and curfew because people are actually dancing plus the music they play is super diverse!!!! However some of the group doesn’t appreciate the 80s music especially when the 2000s room isn’t hitting 😂 I get told to go to W 7st a lot but I don’t even know where to start or go because I’ve never been. All I know is I want to dance to good music and have a great time so if anyone has any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

Form VTR-271, Power of Attorney

Hey y’all!

A friend had to move out of the country and left their vehicle with me.

He filled the form (Form VTR-271 - motor vehicle power of attorney) and notarized it. There as a “grantee” section with my name and address, but nowhere for me to sign.

Now I have this paper, the car, the plates, and the title.

Whenever we find someone to sell the car, do I sign the title with my handwritten name? Or With my signature? I am just wondering how the DMV will validate that I am the grantee in the document.

Do I need to give the title signed, the form, and a copy of my id to the person buying the car?

Thanks folks! 😄

Suggestions for Good Nightclubs in Dallas for Dancing and Great Music?

Hi y’all. I'm looking for some recommendations for good nightclubs in Dallas where the crowd is mostly in their late 20s to 30s. I'm all about places with great music (bonus points for a solid DJ) and a fun vibe for dancing. Not looking for anything too wild, but something above average where the energy is still high and you can actually enjoy the night.

Any places with a good mix of music genres or cool themes would be great too! Let me know your favorites!

Where to look for places like ranch which accommodates 25 people near Dallas

I live in Dallas and we are going to have a friends reunion with 8 families coming into town in November. We have only 2-3 days and don’t want to end up traveling too far from the dfw airport. May be an hour or so is good.

Plan is to just chill out and play games. Kids will be there, so we considered a resort but could not find one that is under $3k (for everyone’s stay)

Any help is appreciated!

Where to Live as a Recent College Graduate?

Hello! As the title suggests, I will be moving to the DFW area after college graduation this upcoming spring. I will be working in the East side of Plano. I am wondering the best areas/suburbs to live in? I will be moving with another person, and our goal is to rent a house/townhome that has enough space for us each to have our own office spaces (hybrid work) as well as bedrooms. Ideally, it would be a 3-4 bedroom house. Our combined budget is anything <$4000 a month. What do you recommend?

Best “viral” snacks in DFW?

My girlfriend’s birthday is tomorrow and she’s obsessed with different trending food and snacks on TikTok. I want to source as many “viral” treats as I can but don’t know what all has made it do DFW.

I’m getting “Dubai chocolate” from Bigdash but does anyone else have suggestions? Preferably items that will keep in the fridge overnight, more of snacks/treats than meals.

TIA!

Looking to make a move

Gf and I are looking for townhome rentals that are walkable. I really downtown Southlake, parts of Grapevine, parts of Colleyville, all the way over to Las Colinas, Frisco, and the Colony.

I lived in McKinney and enjoyed the downtown quite a bit, but it was a little sleepy. Uptown and Lower Greenville were great in parts. I also saw a place in Irving called Cypress Waters that looked nice - just haven’t been.

As you can see, the metroplex is enormous and it’s very difficult to put my finger on exactly where to go, but I can give you some more specifics:

• both work from home. Commute not an issue

• planning to get a dog

• budget $3k/mo

• townhome preferred

• “nicer”/newer areas preferred

• walkable or short drive to lots of shopping/restaurants. Not the well known DFW strip mall built in the 80s that we all know and love

I may be getting places mixed up, but basically north of 121/183, west of north Dallas toll road, east of Trophy Club. That section of “north DFW” that is nicer and newer with access to restaurants, shopping, etc. I’m still open to any part of the city. I prefer the aforementioned spots though.

Prosper or Weatherford

Hello,

My job is opening two buildings in Prosper and Weatherford. I’m not from Texas, and need help to pick a location. I am a 27 year old black male and make around 100k a year. I’m originally from Columbus,Ohio but moved to Georgia for my job and it’s been about a year now. I’m not a huge fan of Georgia, so I think I’m ready for change again and the openings seem like an option. Which city would fit me better? And how would this move compare to ATL.

Neighborhood Recommendations?

My partner and I are planning to move to Dallas over the next 6-12 months and are visiting this weekend in hopes to narrow down the list of neighborhoods we are interested in.

We're 27 y/o, no kids yet but planning on it in the next few years. We're not big into nightlife but do appreciate areas with good options for casual entertainment, dining, etc. Big criteria for us is safety and hopefully a decent school district (should we live in this home long enough for future kids to be in school). Also looking for neighborhoods that are well kept; we're not opposed to HOA fees or older neighborhoods. Must be less than 45 minute commute to downtown Dallas. Price range <$450k.

We'd appreciate any advice / recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Two New Yorkers looking to move to Dallas

Hey everyone! My fiancé and I are looking to move to the Dallas area and we’re curious which neighborhoods are good to raise a family (a good school district is important to us). We ideally do not want to be too far out of the city since I’m a mechanical engineer and my fiancé is a Physician Assistant so we presumably would be working/spending most of our time in the city.

We currently live in a suburb that’s a 30 minute train ride outside of NYC, for reference.

Hopefully I put enough info in this post. Thanks in advance, everyone

Edit: our budget is roughly 700k

Downtown/Uptown hotel rec? Visiting UTD then one night downtown with high schooler.

I'm taking my 18 year old high school senior to Dallas to visit UTD in mid-Oct, then we plan to stay a night downtown before heading back to Seattle. We will be first time visitors to Dallas, and I'm looking forward to going to The Sixth Floor Museum and exploring the downtown core.....all in the interest of hopefully selling ourselves on Dallas itself. I'm having trouble deciding on a hotel as I can't seem to figure out how nice/safe each of the downtown areas will be. We hope to walk around on a Friday evening/night and a Saturday morning. We don't care about the hotel pool or any bars close by, and are certainly familiar with homelessness, so that won't bother us, per se, but I don't want to feel unsafe.

Budget is not really an issue, but prefer to stay around $500/night max. Looking for a quieter area for sleeping (ie, no cars or motorcycles gunning their engines but a highway would likely be ok), definitely no party hotels, and preferably, a lively, interesting area that is safe to walk around. Ritz Carlton and the like seem so pretentious and the Fairmont gets terrible reviews. Would Le Meridien, The Stoneleigh, be a good compromise or Hall Arts or even just Hilton Garden Inn? Any specific areas to avoid at night? TIA

Kiddo needs a drivers license

My 18 year old son needs to get his DL (has had his permit for the required 6 months), and the soonest appt I could get around downtown Dallas was in February. Anyone had any experience with outlying areas having appointments sooner? I am gifting him my house and moving out of state, and he needs his license so he can get a job.

TIA

Best Places to Live in the Design District?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to move to the Design District soon and wanted to get some recommendations on the best places to live in the area. I'm open to non-conventional housing options like renovated lofts or unique spaces.

My budget is around $1,500 a month, so affordability is a big factor. Are there any hidden gems or lesser-known spots I should consider? Any advice on neighborhoods, buildings, or specific properties would be super helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Where can I buy sushi grade fish in DFW?

Since the new HEB opened in Mansfield, I have been obsessed with their salmon and tuna sashimi and poke bowls! I am spending so much on sushi from there. Any ideas where I can buy my own fish (tuna & salmon) to make poke bowls at home?
