Butler was thought of as the missing offensive piece for Dirk, and Klay has been brought in similarly for Luka. While Klay’s defense—according to advanced metrics and the eye test—has been arguably better than his offense, his injury status and professionalism are gonna leave more than enough room for our other studs to compete.

And if Naji Marshall isn’t our Matrix then we’ve got other options too. Love this team.

I am a long time fan of basket-ball and followed a lot of teams because of different players I liked or just because some teams locations are closer to where I live. But since the beginning of the year I’ve been looking for a team to follow because sport is just nicer to experience that way. And as you can guess, my choice ended up being Dallas. You’ve got a charismatic and all around well liked (from my experience) owner, you’ve had a winning recipe for a while, likeable and really good players. You’ve got it all and what sold me is actually Kyrie’s stream with Kai Cenat, Kyrie is just so chill man. So… hey sorry if I treated y’all like my personal journal, but I’m happy to be part of this community.

Josh Green in 16 games: 48.9% on 2.8 3PA per game, last year 38.5% on 3.3

DJJ in 20 games: 43.3% on 3 3PA per game, last year 34.3% on 3.1

VS.

Naji in 19 games: 29.2% on 2.5 3PA per game, last year 38.7% on 2.3

Grimes in 17 games: 40% on 2.9 3PA per game, last year 33.8% on 4.7

Klay in 17 games: 36.8% on 8 3PA per game, last year 38.7% on 9

This, of course, is just a plain 3 point shooting comparison. Not accounting for the different things each of them can provide on defense, floor spacing, etc... and also knowing that it´s just a small sample for this season.

Naji is starting to find his groove in the offense, especially if that 3 point shot continues to fall the way it has. I can’t wait to see him lead the second unit!

in previous years dallas has always felt like they were overachieving based on the amount of talent that is on the roster. looking back at the roster of the 2022 team and seeing how far they got was amazing. Last year I think it was a combination of having a talented team and dominos falling correctly with the wolves eliminating the nuggets. But in previous seasons when luka would miss a game the mavericks looked like a .500 non playoff team. this season is different they are 4-1 over Lukas missed games recently and that one loss was came down to a very unusual missed clutch free throw by kyrie and a couple bad calls in the first half that prevented dallas from extending the lead. Dallas has also had multiple players miss multiple games so they are also still winning without gafford and klay. this team is balanced and deep so luka and kai dont need to expend all their energy to compete, they can focus on closing out the games in the 4th if it isn't already a blow out. after the finals loss I said the mavericks were going to win 60 games and the title this year and people thought I was too high off of the successful season but dallas is looking like a real problem. it also helps that they keep finding diamonds, last year with djj, gafford, pj, and Exum. this year is naji, Grimes, and even recent Dinwiddie. its going to be a good year, lets enjoy it.

Edit: as one commenter pointed out, Mike/Mark were to call play by play, not color as I first mentioned. Stephanie White (head coach of the Indiana Fever) did color.

These last few games have shown me one thing about this team and that’s the energy is always high and they’re willing to run, hustle, and the complaining is kept to a MINIMUM. One thing I hope Luka is learning while being on the bench is that his attitude can affect the game. This team feeds off of energy so if Luka is having a game where his energy and intensity is low, I feel like the team responds the same way.

This team can EASILY be a top 3 team by the end of the year and there’s where I expect them to be.
