Wondering what activities will be happening for Hanukkah this year? I’m in SLC but curious about any events planned within driving distance!
I’m trying to find a shop locally that has a press brake with a 10ft capacity. I’ve called around and found either shops with machines that aren’t wide enough or shops that don’t do small jobs. Anyone know of one in the area?
I'm not a member, but I think y'all should check out the amazing Lords of Misrule in their new, free christmas show. I have enjoyed a date and 2 amazing hangouts at these shows and they are always a hit!! So fun! So Stupid!! So adorable!!! All donations are optional and go towards benefiting unsheltered people in SLC!! They have shows on the 19th(7pm), 20th(7pm), 21st (7pm), and 22nd (3 pm matinee).
Here's the flyer from their Instagram:
Any ideas for a location we can snap a family photo indoors next week? We have our photog. We had a scheduling conflict and Normally get it done in the fall to use for holiday cards etc
The only place that comes to mind is the Capitol building.
Thought maybe city creek but wonder if they allow “photo shoots”?
New little pizza place in Midvale called Bambino’s right in the old Vincent’s drug from the sandlot.
Two thumbs up from me and the fam.
Are there any stores around that just have rows and rows of random ornaments? I’ve been to all the chain stores without much success.
I’m especially looking for a basket of strawberries, knitting needles, cruise ship, and a loaf of sandwich bread.
Hey guys, I have a question for the utah natives. I am wanting to go out to the woods and clips some small branches to make a wreath. Not to sell, not to take a whole tree, but to just take some small trimmings from various trees.
My question is, is that legal here?
I just moved to the area.
I'm looking for a Chinese bbq place, who ideally have their pork and duck roasting in the entry area.
Otherwise, if there is any restaurant or supermarket that sells southern Chinese roast duck or charsiu pork, I'd be very interested.
Thanks!
I was hoping to go snowshoeing this week, but I’m not sure what trails are currently good for this. There’s one I like up in the Uintas, but I can’t find any recent conditions reports. Is it too early? Can anyone recommend a good spot? Thank you!!
I am searching for a vocal teacher locally. I would be up for online sessions, but in person would be great. Bonus points for metal and/or rock vocal experience.
-Thanks and happy holidays.
Hey Everyone, just had a question for those in the local 140 union for pipefitters/welding
How is the work up there ? Is it busy? Any overtime ? Only thing I can find is wages but not work and how it is lined up
I’m currently in Local 100 out of Dallas and looking to move to Salt Lake City Metro since spouse wants to go down yonder. Any help would be appreciated
Its a pretty nice, very walkable, and pet-friendly apartment near downtown and I think Id find someone who likes it quickly, but Im not sure how to advertise it to people. What would you recommend?
First winter in my house, currently setting the house to 55 degrees at night. Trying to be frugal but also find that to be really comfortable as I like it cold. But I don't want to risk freezing pipes.
I live in Poplar Grove, 1952 house with most pipes running in the crawl space I believe.
Is 55 degrees ok?
I'm personally a fan of Village Baker's egg salad sandwich myself, but I think the bread does a lot of the heavy lifting in their sandwich. I think Harmon's standalone egg salad is pretty tasty, but I just want a sandwich without needing to get bread.
Anyone else have recommendations?
Back in 1999-2001 I used to hang out at a coffeehouse that was open all night back in St. Louis called Caffiend. It closed down in 2001 and I haven't found anything quite like it ever since.
If anyone in Utah has capital and wants an idea of something to do with it, please open up a late night coffeehouse/cybercafe. I would gladly be a patron.

Looking for sit down dinner recommendations for a Christmas Eve dinner with our family of 7. Not super fancy nor super expensive.
Fav local go to spot?
Where is the best place to cut down your own Christmas tree with a permit?
Things I’m looking for: 1: someone who pays attention to detail! Especially when it comes to shaping the nail. 2: someone who (if I make an appointment beforehand and let them know in advance) is willing to do nail art. 3: less important, but maybe someone nice and not too brusque?
I went to All Season Nails (nail tech Alex) and got fun nail art—but wonky shaped nails of different lengths. Super talented dude, but a bit careless and (to my white American sensibilities) a bit unfriendly. Then I went to Moon Swan Nails in North SL (nail tech Jodi) and I was kind of treated like a walk in. No one seemed to know that I’d asked for nail art when I set up the appointment. I was asked three different times by three different people, “Only color, no design, right?” And I was like, “No, I want a design.” I showed a picture, and only the simplest element from it was done. I was worried that I would be putting people out by asking for more nail art since they didn’t seem prepared to do it. On the plus side, Jodi was extremely detail oriented and kind. My nails do look fabulous—just simpler than I wanted.
I know a lot of this is on me. I’ll work on more clearly communicating, but in the meantime, does anyone know any places I could go where I won’t feel stupid or guilty for asking for more nail art?
I just moved into a new apartment complex and the washers are so small they’re $1.75 a load which is just way too much considering I have to do so many loads because the washers are so small.
Does anyone know any clean and safe laundromats near by? I don’t want to go to a place where my clothes are dirty than when I got there.
Folks it’s time to change up my hair and I want to get a hot girl trendy mullet typa cut. Anyone know of a good hairstylist that does fun haircuts like this? Lmk 🤩
Hi fellow SLCers,
My dog is freaking out at intermittent boom/shot sounds this morning -- ran into the street terrified, which she never does -- any idea what they are? It would help to know.
Thanks!
First post-Mormon Christmas season. Would love to visit churches this month with great music and Christmas centered worship services. What do you recommend?
Hey all. For Christmas this year my wife wants more "experiences" and less "things." We don't get out a ton because of young kids, but would like to start getting out more. This could be experiences for the family, or for my wife and me, or just my wife.
It doesn't need to be somewhere where we can purchase a gift card or voucher because I can just create one and gift that.
I appreciate any recommendations you might have to experience Utah more!
I mean, obviously not a dollar probably anymore, but I just moved from Boise here a year ago. We had a couple of movie theaters there (The Reel Theaters and Cinema123) known as "dollar theaters" because they would often play movies that were not in the bigger places anymore, were on DVD, or were holiday favorites like the original It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story, Miracle on 34th Street around this time of year. Tickets were at most like $6 and on some days and times, they actually were a dollar. Are there similar small and discounted theaters around here? Any recommendations? Thanks!
Hello all,
I’ve just moved to Utah a few weeks ago. Really enjoying it so far, but admittedly have not done very much. I’m actually in American Fork, but plan on going up to SLC quite a lot. I also go to Orem/Provo often for work.
I’m a big foodie and love trying the lesser known places or hidden gems. I had Little India last week and that was amazing.
Are there any solid Italian places that aren’t super expensive? Or a good NY-style deli, or idk, really anything! I’d just love to know about some spots that may not be super well-known but have delicious food :)
Any advice would be great!! Thank you all!
