Hello this is for all my nursing majors. This semester I completed Math 0990 my advisor recommended to take Math 1010 but it is not required. However Math 1040 is required. So I’m just wondering is taking Math 1010 worth it or should I just save myself a semester and go straight to 1040?
*My advisor’s reason for recommending Math 1010 is that it’ll help me with a class I’ll be taking in the future I forgot which class though
Please advise all thoughts and opinions are appreciated
How difficult is anatomy/physiology at SLCC? I took both courses at the U which were extremely difficult, and I am just trying to get a better grade for grad school applications. I've heard the both courses at SLCC were easier, but how many hours a week did you spend studying? What's expected of you to learn? Is it possible to take both courses in the same semester?
Thank youuu
I already completed it for the fall season and it’d be strange to have to go through again.
Is it just me or is the SLCC website really.....not user friendly?
Friends and professors alike have complained about finding thing in the website. I know I've struggled finding information about the catalogue and financial aid without going to google and typing in the question and letting google take me directly to what I'm looking for on the site.
Anyone else have insight into this? Are all college websites this way? What was the thought process behind the desgin?
Has anyone taken anatomy with Katherine Helvie @ the Jordan campus? I tried to look her up on rate my professor, but I can't find anything on her.
I was wondering if anyone is in the program if they can tell me their experience in it. I’m currently at the U (leaving as my motivation to stay there paying what I am and dealing with things is just gone) but I’ve decided on that program. I see that they only allow you to retake failed pre requisite classes once which is fine but I was wondering how strict they are on applying? Is the program itself really difficult? Is there any online/ hybrid options (fine if there isn’t just curios) and is what is the schedule like for the evening courses, I plan on working at my warehouse office which will be 9-5 hours and can’t really quit if I have to pay for school. Is the program worth it? I don’t I’m kind of rambling but just wanting to better my education but if I’m being honest I hate school and just wanting a shorter degree not something crazy. I don’t know if anyone can give me advice i would appreciate it greatly :)
on her course calendar, she said theres just the 4 midterm exams throughout the course, but on myslcc it has an option to take the “course final” as well as the midterm 4 exam. i messaged her about this, and all she responded with is “hi” and nothing else😭 i have been struggling in her class all year and i have gotten unclear instructions for assignment submissions.
Hey everyone! Is there anyone on here that is either in the program or is applying? I’m extremely nervous that I won’t get accepted, and I’m just curious if anyone could give me some info. Thanks in advance :)!
I’m planning to take classes on the Taylorsville campus next semester, and I was wondering if anyone knows whether the volleyball club is still active. I checked earlier this semester, but they only had a schedule for Fall 2023, so I wasn’t sure if it’s still running.
Also, if any of you are part of a group that plays volleyball occasionally, please let me know, I’d love to join! I’m not the best player, but I really enjoy the game and just want to have fun :)
Heyyyy any business students rn at slcc willing to show me a screenshot of the Math 1090 grading scale? Much appreciated
So I'm starting at slcc in spring of 2025. Im going for an AS in animation and CSIS at the same time. (yes this is allowed) so needless to say I'm gonna have my nose to the grindstone for the next two years. I've had it all 100% planned out meticulously. Degree wise, financially, course wise, etc. but there's two months until classes start and now I find myself panicking all of a sudden. It's too late to back out now, and even then, I've set my gut to it, so best I can think to do is put that nervous energy into preparing. I have 6 courses my first semester.
ENGL 1010 MATH 1030 CSIS 1030 ART 1010 ART 1110 ART 1120
Is there any advice people could give me about any of these courses or about my planned degrees in general that would be helpful to know? Class workload, what I'll be doing/ what's expected of me, etc. Also any general college advice that might be good. Any tips will help! I got college ready scores on my GED for English so I feel at least somewhat confident I can at least keep up in English at the very least. Math I'm dreading as i fell massively behind in later school years even if I really love it, but I'm studying for it in advance. Art i love and have been doing for years so I at least know what's expected of me skill wise but that's about it. The syllabus and course descriptions were quite lacking in detailed information so that wasn't much help in knowing what to prepare for. I'm a resident and get free transportation with my student ID so no issues there. I haven't been in a school setting for years so confidence is lacking to say the least aha. Like I said, any info or tips would really help!
Hey y’all,
Okay, so this isn’t about classes or schedules or any of that, but I’m just curious, do students here at SLCC party? Like, is there any kind of nightlife or social scene?
I know Utah has some pretty strict rules, so I’m not sure if there’s much going on. I’m not from here, but I’d love to go out and meet people. Or is it more of a “you’ve gotta go to the U or UVU” kind of thing to find parties?
So I'm finally taking that step and starting my generals, however..... I want to be a full time student and work full time. Yes, I know it'll suck but my job is super flexible and allows me to do homework while I work, so I'll survive enough.
But these are the classes I'm taking for my first semester, and then I plan on taking harder ones during the summer. Keep in mind that I'm just trying to start with a run but dip my toes at the same time. No, I don't have a great idea of what I want to do with my life, but i want to enjoy college as well.
Also, i want to look good for my bank and Insurance. Saying i am a full-time student can get me more freedoms, especially with my car loan.
ENGL 1010 - introduction to college writing (EN) credits: 3
HLAC 1057 - yoga I (LW) credits: 1
CJ 1010 - introduction to criminal justice (SS, DV) credits: 3
MUSC 1050 - songwriting and creative process (FA) credits: 3
MKTG 1010 - customer service (HR) [second-half of term] credits: 2
Total: 12
TLDR; freshman here, check out my classes. Am I gonna suffer?
Can anyone tell me how long it usually takes to become a nurse at SLCC and maybe what classes they took?
I'm international student, thinking of transferring in spring semester my major is computer science can some tell me how much the tuition will cost?
i’m taking math 1040 online and these in person tests are killing me, i’m going to have to retake it next semester. are there any professors that don’t do in person tests and it’s 100% online?
i am applying next fall for 2026 and i was wondering how the program is? people who have graduated or currently in it, was it worth it? i saw one person say it was horrible and everything sucked but i want to see if its just a one-off thing or if it’s just not so good.
Hey there, I am still deciding which route to take, I wanna start a new major. I really find interesting in creating websites, but my question which one should I take? AAS in web design would be a great idea, but I won't be able to transfer to Bachelor's degree later on. AS in CSIS would be a good idea, but math is not my cup of tea, up to calculus 1 is fine, I don't wanna go any further.
Hi, I hope my question isn't stupid but can I apply for the spring 2025 semester as a new student? I'm on the application only lets me pick Fall/summer 2025, and id prefer to start classes sooner rather than later.
You guys. There isn’t a stop for the cars that are coming in from S 2200 W, so if they are coming in and turning left onto SLCC Blvd that does not mean you can just cut them off and go assuming they will stop or turn right 😭 please WAIT at the stop sign until you are sure it’s clear!
I do know that there were state-wide tuition increases, but I'm seeing that even for UT residents, it's $387.00 per credit hour and over 1200.00 for non-residents. I was planning on moving and establishing residency, but that would still mean 1200.00 per credit hour for a year. Am I just mis-reading the tuition fee chart or is this accurate?
Anyone have notes or previous exam copies to help with passing this class. I am really struggling!! I am taking this accelerated course with professor Camille Paxman. I don’t know what I was thinking! :-/
Good morning! Curious if our school ID gets us access anywhere to swim. Front desk and the SLCC rec center said no such thing, but figured I’d double check with you fine folks.
I need MATH1010 professor recommendations please. Dropped my old one cause I wasn’t learning ANYTHING and had to teach myself. This is a legit SOS as I need an A for this class in spring.
Hello, I am now offering online organic chemistry tutoring for anyone who is interested. I have a PhD in chemistry and have been tutoring for over 10 years.
I just failed my second exam in Chem 110. I now have an F in the class, and I feel so discouraged right now. I need to at least pass with a C- and I just feel like it’s impossible.
Any tips or tricks to help understand it?
I need to take Anatomy and physiology over the summer.Main campus is too far away to my house I need to take an hours and half to go to. So I try to squeeze all classes to one day. Including anatomy lecture and it's lab and physiology lecture and it's lab I found out I can squeeze all classes including their labs in one day. But I have to take classes starting from 9am- 7:30pm. I don't know how helpful the lecture will be and if the schedule I mentioned will be really bad or not Also I am wondering if the professor will have TA in the class? And do they have office hours over summer?
Hi everyone,
We are conducting a research study at the University of Utah to understand the daily life experiences of ethnic minority college students. Interested individuals do not need to be students at the U of U, just ethnic minority college students in Utah.
In this study, participants will answer some questions on their phones 3x a day for 2 weeks and can make up to $75.
Eligible participants must be 1) 18-30 years old and 2) undergraduate college students who identify as an ethnic minority.
Please email us at kiran.kaur@psych.utah.edu to learn more! :)
Thanks so much!
I was looking through the current clubs and didn't see a TTRPG/TCG/Board game club. I've been wanting to play, so it's there one? Or any interest in joining/starting one?
Anyone know if the job fair is actually worth attending? I mean like are the employers gonna be asking for 5 yrs experience at a 2 year college lol
