Seeing teams like Indiana and Pitt lean into NIL this year and turn out great, Is this something we can fix? How is our fundraising and recruiting? Were we just so insistent on Cam for the whole O that we overlooked everything else and now we will probably not be bowl eligible? There’s gotta be a way for us to attract better talent, or at least a deeper roster. It seems like once the 1st man goes down, we don’t have many options at all.

At this point, its simply about finding 2 wins down the stretch.
Isaac just doesn't have that dawg in him. Just an entitled athlete in my opinion. Throw tomatoes or flowers, what do you all think?
Does anyone know where I can watch the full game replays??
Haven’t seen him play at all this year. The guy is a senior, big target at 6’ 6” and had 610 yards receiving last year at Syracuse. I remember Whitt raved about him during fall camp. Anyone know what happened to him? Is he getting redshirt?
After re watching the pain that was the last two games I must say; BB looks like Caleb Williams compared to what we have now. Hell NJ as a true freshman played better than what we have now. Oh well, I guess the U really has been spoiled the past 20 years.
I feel like they are due for an upset. After about losing to the worst team in the conference in okst at home, and having what feels like a cinderella year, I feel like we have a chance. We have the talent, Idk why the offense has looked this horrible this year. Also, this is our super bowl. Nothing to lose, no chance of winning the conference, while BYU might come in cocky thinking they are invincible.
Just my thoughts. What do you guys think?
We lost our starting QB. Despite that, we've been within 1 score in every loss.
We can all agree that a healthy Rising is likely good for 1 score a game more than Wilson. Honestly he's probably good for a lot more than 1.
So, with that being the case, Utah is probably undefeated right now if Rising doesn't get hurt.
If Wilson improves to the level of Rising, next year Utah will be back to what we've come to expect. We'll have a few holes to fill in the off-season, but that's the case every year.
The sky is not falling. The defense is rock solid, the offense isn't good enough. We lost our star QB in the first half of the second game and replaced him with a true freshman. Of course the offense isn't good enough, lol.
I think it's time the Utes officially move on from Rising. He's way too injury prone and they need to look to the future. Isaac Wilson looks better, I think they start him for the rest of the year, and Rising just needs to go at this point. We only have a few games left in the season, and this season is already a dumpster fire. So why not let Wilson get more playing time, he's already a dawg. Let him dawg some more. Maybe we give Rising one more shot, but with how he's played for the VERY limited amount of snaps he's played this season, he's washed.
Edit - I know he won't play next season
It's clearly time for Scally to take the HC reigns. U Defense is the #1 defense in the Big 12 and #17 in the country and would be even higher if the offense was not continually putting them in impossible situations. Let's start the speculation as to who Scally will hire for his OC and DC. We got 20 good years from Whitt but it is clear that he is done. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/40474261/utah-names-dc-morgan-scalley-kyle-whittingham-successor
I, like you, watched that game last night. Beaten down, I went to bed. This morning I go to watch some NFL only to find my tv won’t turn on. Unplug and plug back in, nothing. Change the batteries in the remote, press the button on the actual tv, nothing helps. I can only imagine my TV’s last thoughts were “This is the last straw. I will not be used to play another Utah football game.” And then slowly faded into its final sleep. In a way, I am grateful. It’s for my own well being.
I was trying to think of the last time a Utah team was actually bad. Is this team worse than the 2012 or 2013 teams? Before that you'd have to go back to like 2000 or 2002.

Obituary
Utah Utes Football 2006-2024
The Utah Ute football team died suddenly in October of 2024 of unknown causes. The team had been extremely healthy over the past few years, but showed signs of an unknown illness in 2023 that looked eerily familiar to the bout of "Charlie Brewer-itis" that struck the team in early 2021. A funeral will be held at Rice Eccles Stadium on Saturday, November 9th. Survivors include most of the fan base, as well as the entire coaching staff of the BYU Cougars.
OC change, installing a new offense if Bajakian is not the OC next year, KW potentially retire after this season, recruits and transfers seeing this shitshow, and more issues will set this program back. But how far back? What does it take to piece this program back to competing for conference champ again? Are we talking in years?
I’ve been a lifelong fan of everything Utah. Rather than lay blame, I wanted to see key differences between the previous 2 years. Here is what stands out the most to me.
Offensive Line Woes:
2022: Allowed just 16 sacks, ranking among the best in the nation. 2023: Improved pass protection, allowing only 22 sacks. 2024: Allowed 30 sacks, a significant increase from previous years.
Offensive Line Breakdown: A significant decline in offensive line performance has directly impacted the team's ability to protect the quarterback and create running lanes. This has led to increased sacks, hurried throws, and fewer rushing yards.
Quarterback Inconsistency:
2022: Completed over 65% of passes with a low interception rate. 2023: Consistent quarterback play, leading the team to numerous scoring drives. 2024: Completed 54.1% of passes with 11 interceptions.
The combination of increased pressure from the defensive line and inconsistent quarterback play has hindered the offense. We have struggled with accuracy, decision-making, and turnovers.
Defensive Regression:
2022: A top-ranked defense, allowing minimal points and yards per game. 2023: Continued defensive dominance, limiting opponents' scoring opportunities. 2024: Allowed 16.4 points per game and 305.6 yards per game.
While the defense remains solid, it has experienced a notable decline. Missed tackles, lapses in coverage, and a lack of pressure on the quarterback have allowed opponents to score more easily.
Coaching Changes and Transition:
2022 and 2023: Consistent coaching staff, leading to continuity and success. 2024: Although already in despair, the departure of offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig will likely continue to disrupt the offensive rhythm and play-calling. Additionally, the transition to the Big 12 has presented new challenges and adjustments for the team.
We still have time to turn the season around and addressing these issues will be crucial but it’s hard to not start thinking about lasting effects into 2025 and recruiting. With de-commits from Aaron Dunn and Shaker Reisig, I can only hope there aren’t more.
Without the offense showing up, it is more frustrating piling up these losses when the defense keeps us in a game. We aren't getting blown out like I'd expect from a team that isn't scoring over 20 points. We are within one score of a different result the last 4 weeks.
If only there were answers on offense! The defense are working their asses off and just gassed by the end!! Send help, offense! Frustrated, but Go Utes!
Wow! That was about as bad football as I’ve ever seen!!
Every facet of this Ute team looked anemic. I’ve never seen that before more dramatically from a Utah team under Whittingham - defense slow and disengaged, offense pathetic and disconnected, special teams bumbling, and coaching and play calling off the charts bad. Is this the end for Whitt?
A good football team was putting lipstick on the pig that is Utah athletics. I love the success some of the women’s teams have experienced, but that doesn’t pay any bills.
BYU football is a huge surprise this season, but what’s not a surprise is how their athletic department is beating Utah’s in every metric.
Venue/in-game experience, fan engagement, student involvement, winning in the sports that matter; Utah’s direct rival has all the momentum.
I think it’s time to move on from Mark Harlan AND for Kyle to sail off into the sunset. It’s bad right now and it will only get worse without a change in direction.
“For the first time since 1997 the Utes have scored fewer than 60 points in the last 4 games”
We thought last year was a mess. This year is a tragedy. I have high hopes for our players and thoughts and prayers for them too lol. It just feels like the locker room has lost trust in the coaching and aren't giving their all anymore. This might be the year that wrecks Utah for a few years. Whitt is probably going to retire. Scalley may not be a great HC but we may never know. But statistics show first year HC's usually don't make bowl games. Lawd have mercy on us fans...
I think today confirms it - the 2024 football team is the most disappointing in Ute history. Seriously, everyone expected a team that would compete to get into the Big12 title game, not to compete for last place in the conference. Unbelievable.
What in the world was whitt thinking calling the timeouts at the end of the drive when it was clear we wouldn’t be able to get the ball back anyway. It ended up allowing Houston to run an extra play they wouldn’t have been able to run otherwise.
