The time has come for me to find a new therapist as I can no longer work with my old one since I have relocated here to ID. My old one specialized in EMDR work with my PTSD and of course depression.
I’m very nervous to “shop” around for a new therapist as I was comfortable making that connection and now having to start over is unsettling. Any and all recommendations welcome

My husband and I moved here 2 years ago after falling in love with Boise during a random visit when we had car trouble on a road trip 4 years ago. It became our dream to live here and despite being a POC and initially worried about standing out, I’ve found Boise to be incredibly welcoming.
The other day, I was walking on the Greenbelt when a man on a fast e-bike sped past me. I overheard an older gentleman behind me say he’s “tired of all the rich yuppies moving here and clogging up the Greenbelt.” It got me thinking—what does “yuppie” even mean in the context of Boise?
Sure there are a lot of Teslas, Subarus, Rad power kiddie hauler e-bikes, and hip third-wave coffee shops here - Boise definitely has lots of amenities that appeal to hip zoomers and millennials.
But - Boise still feels authentic to me in a way places like Boulder or Austin don’t. Those things haven’t felt overwhelming here at all. In my experience, a good chunk of people are extremely welcoming here and seem passionate about taking care of all the natural and man-made amenities that make Boise great (greenbelt / protected foothills, Bogus etc.).
As someone relatively new to the area, I’m curious—do you think Boise has changed? Has it become a "yuppie-ville" with too many upper-class young professionals?
I grew up here but never really thought about this till now and it feels like a silly question.... But it seems like the Ridenbaugh canal moves up on elevation from SE Boise going into the Bench. Are there locks when it goes under Federal Way, or is it more of an optical illusion that it flows upward?
Edit: I accept illusion being the answer! Makes sense once you think about the elevation change from lucky peak to the bench.
They had the freshest food!
Don't answer if you don't wanna; but I'm just wondering how much boiseans spend on groceries weekly? I'm averaging 75-100$ a week for two of us, maybe 150 if we're stocking up. we meal plan and eat pretty healthy, I look for any and every deal I can, soap and cat food is expensive though lol. Is it the same for others?
hi! i wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations in boise (or within an hour or so of boise) for a tattoo artist that does medieval woodcut style or the dot work style.
i haven’t decided on which style i’d like yet. my tattoo vision Agnus Dei with somewhat ornate pieces around it.
thank you!
I’m in charge of a work Christmas catered lunch. We did Olive Garden last year (totally would recommend) but I need ideas for this year (13 people). Tacos don’t feel like Christmas ($20 or under per person). Thanks!!
Ski pass prices have been going up for years but we've reached insanity.
Sun Valley: $245 Bogus Basin: $89 Brundage: $115 Tamarack: $110 (weekend), $88 (weekday) Soldier: $69
Soldier was my cheap escape for weekends when I knew Bogus would be too crowded. Their tickets were in the $30s just a two or three years ago. These prices are absolutely absurd!
My car sucks in any ice and snow. Any suggestions of a area close by Boise?
This is our first Christmas down here and we want to take our kids (2 and NB) to see Santa and get pictures etc. We live in Caldwell so out this way would be nice. Up north we had to set an appointment as they didn't do walk ups. Is it the same here?
I think there’s people who’d like to contribute more to the community, but aren’t sure where to look. Last year I was able to volunteer to take busses of kids shopping at Target with (supplied) giftcards! Thought I’d start a thread. I saw Village will have a “giving machine” this year where instead of vending snacks, you can purchase community needs. Who/what/where else ya got?
Forgot my sunscreen when I went to work this morning. Think it'll be ok?
I work at the airport and I met this wonderful man named K (I’m not sure of his full name but he goes by “K”) today, he is 92 and he loves to sew. I talked to him for about an hour and then I had to return back to work. He was there to pick someone up but I didn’t get to say goodbye. I just want him to know how much i appreciated talking to him and hearing all of his stories. Truly a wonderful man I’d like to thank him. Also.. he likes to make cat face sewing’s and hand them out to people with nice notes on the back.
In related news, they've begun work on redoing the malfunctioning wave shaper 2.

I overheard a convo at a restaurant of these folks (not from Boise because the didn’t know what fry sauce was) and the waitress - and the waitress explained what fry sauce was. I’m curious to see everyone’s fry sauce recipes & how different they all are.
My favorite fry sauce I’ve had has to be from Hyde Park Pub. Hands down the best.
Hello Boise films fans!
Last year, the Idaho Film Society had an incredible response to their screening of A Christmas Story on 35mm! Many of you asked if they'd bring it back—well, guess what? You’re in luck! Join us for a magical one-night-only event at the Egyptian Theater on Wednesday, December 11th, featuring a special guest appearance by none other than Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie and is also an IFS Board Member! This year’s screening will be especially meaningful as we honor the late John Eickhof, our beloved projectionist who repaired the Egyptian Theatre’s film projectors last year and recently passed away. John’s dedication to preserving the magic of cinema ensured that treasures like A Christmas Story can continue to light up Boise screens for decades to come. His passion will forever be part of our community. After the screening, Peter will join us for an exclusive Q&A session, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and holiday memories from this timeless classic. Experience the charm of A Christmas Story like never before—on glorious 35mm film. This event is proudly sponsored by Elliot Prestwich. Let’s come together to celebrate the season, honor John, and enjoy this unforgettable holiday classic. You can purchase tickets over at the Egyptian Theater website!

I'll be attending BSU for the next couple of years to complete a bachlors in electrical engineering. I was wondering if anyone had tips that might enhance my experience like the best place to study, the number one mistake new students make, etc. For reference, I'll also be living off campus and commuting so any tips regarding living on campus may not be applicable.
Edit:
Also one question that came into my head is whether there is anything about driving/parking in BSU I should know that may help me be safer in my time attending there.
Driving the past 2 days has been like whack-a-mole. Drivers without their lights on just appear out of nowhere. I'm no physicist, but I'm pretty sure that having your lights on when it's extremely foggy helps other people see you. The amount of people driving around without lights on is mind-boggling, it almost seems like it's a disease. Even if you flash the fuck out of them, they still don't get it.
I have quarterly service with boise pest control for 450$/ year but they treated in July and just messaged me saying they are coming to do the final quarterly treatment. Technically they will do a treatment in the last quarter but 5 months between service is putting me off. Fall would have been preferred when things where trying to come inside. Just wondering what other people do in the area.
I am thinking of replacing my gas water heater with electric one, soon.
I heard great things about electric heat pump including the rebates. They is 2300$ on some models from Bradford white.
Has anyone installed an electric water heater? What contractor did you use? What has your experience been so far?
Edit: This helped me to understand better.

Hi all
Our dog groomer is leaving the business at the end of the month. Who do you recommend? We have a mini schnauzer, a boxer, and an Australian cattle dog mix. The schnauzer is obviously the only one who needs a full groom, but the other two benefit from a nail trim and having their glands expressed as well as a bath.
TIA
