Hello all! I organize the official Salt Lake Chapter of The Morbidly Curious Book Club. The Morbidly Curious Book Club is a 12k(!) member, virtual macabre nonfiction book club that meets monthly via Zoom/IG, and the local SL Chapter is for Utah based members to have the opportunity to meet in person and make wacky, weird, macabre book loving friends, and discuss our current reads!
If you are looking for some odd bookish friends this may be the place for you! Our first in-person meeting is on Sunday, August 18th at 11am at Forty Three Bakery. This month's book is "Over My Dead Body: Unearthing the Hidden History of America's Cemeteries" by Greg Melville. You don't have to have read the whole book in order to join in, come for the convo and to meet up! Can't join this month? Check out our info below to see about future meetings, books for the rest of the year, and more!
Please note: we are a safe space and welcome all. Sensitive, adult, and often taboo subjects are discussed with these readings. We always strive to be respectful of the material, the individuals involved, and each other. The book club as a whole is reccommended for 18+.
You can find us on Instagram (mcbcslc) and on BookClubs under The Morbidly Curious Book Club. You do not have to join anything to follow along. If you plan on attending an in person meeting please RSVP on either BookClubs or IG so we know to expect you! Let me know if you have any questions.
Hey all, I've never posted on Reddit before, so I hope this gets views. My uncle Kevin Inglet was a freshly starting motorcycle enthusiast who adored the outdoors and rides up big cottonwood canyon. He recently passed away unexpectedly, and I wanted to honor him by setting up a memorial motorcycle ride. He didn't know many bikers, but he always dreamed of being a part of something bigger that involved loving people and what he loved to do. Is there anyone willing to help me put something like this together? It would mean the world to his daughter and grandkids

Hey everyone, I’m (26M) visiting SLC tomorrow and I’ll be leaving on Monday 7/22. I’m planning on scoping out some areas to consider moving during one of those days. The rest of the days, I want to go on hikes, water sports, going out for a beer or two maybe. Wondering if anyone wanted to join me or recommend any of the above! Thanks
Anyone headed to the Granary to see the roots on Friday? None of my buddies are concert goers so would love to find new concert friends!
I have plenty of space to host, right off state street on the Orem/Lindon border. Open to finding a chill group to come hang out or go out and do things with.
Not mormon, not opposed to those that are but won't take shit for having alcohol at the potlucks or going out to the very FEW pubs around here.
Completely opposed to jerks though- so no matter your beliefs, if you can't play nice with others then this isn't the group for you :)
Also not opposed to planning some Saturday or Sunday morning outdoor activities, soccer or Bball (I have a bball court at my house!) and such.
Again, just chill people regardless or race, religion, gender, sexual orientation etc- lets just meetup with great vibes!
420 friendly as well. Lets have fun!
Not one established on FB or Meetup.com. With there being a large population of Spanish speakers in Utah I’m surprised. Would love to get something going.

Join us for a fun-filled picnic at the park in the heart of July! This year, we're spicing things up with a unique twist - a potato-themed potluck competition at the Libery Park, near the volleyball court.
Bring your homemade dishes made from potatoes and let your creativity shine. Whether it's crispy potato wedges, cheesy potato casserole, or delightful potato salad, the choice is yours! Get ready to showcase your culinary skills and compete for the title of the most creative potato dish. Then join in on the volleyball action for some friendly competition and teamwork. Whether you're spiking the ball or savoring a scrumptious potato creation, there's something for everyone to enjoy at this event.
Come prepared to enjoy delicious food, great company, and a day filled with laughter and fun. Let's make this Potato Palooza Picnic a memorable event to remember! Make sure you bring a hat, sunscreen, and a ton of water! It’s going to be a hot day!

Is anyone going to this festival in ogden? Currently planning on going alone, my friends are going to be out of town. I am looking for a group or someone to camp with that is going.
a little about me: f32, queer, been into dub step and electronic music for over a decade. I have been to a few festivals over the years so this isn’t my first rodeo.
edit: most excited to see Ahee and Champagne drip.
I plan on running short D&D games on Thursdays starting at 6:30PM. There will be plenty of opportunity for role-play, combat and just plan fun at the table. I believe that the play is collaborative and everyone at the table contributes to it. The table will be welcoming and inclusive, and we will try not to bring up real world politics.
Games will be come and go as you wish.
Please leave a reply or a dm if you are interested.
Edit: added time.

If you're at all interested in tabletop RPGs, you might be interested to know that this Saturday (6/22) is Free RPG Day! It's a day where local game stores give away one shot RPGs from a bunch of different systems. Probably nothing official D&D, but there will definitely be things that are compatible with it and plenty of things that aren't.
You can find the stores that are participating this year at this link, although it's worth noting that they have the icon for Moonwake Games in downtown SLC when it's actually down in Utah County.
It's always a ton of fun, I think, and you can meet other folks who have interest in the hobby, of all levels. All three Game Haven locations are also doing mini-conventions/ren faires, which is a great way to chat with local people who are making cool things. High Gear has sometimes had people come in to run those games over the course of the day, but I don't know if they are doing so this year.
We are working on making our community more user friendly.
The events that are added to this calendar are people that are attending them.
These events are all subject to change so I highly suggest you get discord to stay updated.
You're welcome to DM me questions about events or get help navigating our platforms.
