Hey there Utah!
First of all, our family vacationed in Utah last spring- we camped and hiked Zion & Bryce. What an amazing experience!
My 4th-grade son’s class is working on a fun project as part of their social studies inquiry unit. They are trying to collect postcards from all 50 states, and I’m hoping someone here might be willing to help.
Here’s what they’re looking for: • A postcard from your state. • A few cool facts about the state or the area you live in (e.g., fun landmarks, historical tidbits, or what makes your state unique).
The postcards will be shared with the class and displayed on their bulletin board for the whole school year. This is a great way for the kids to learn about different states and regions across the country.
If you’d like to help, please reply or DM me, and I’ll send you the mailing address for the school (and it’s ok if we have a postcard from more than 1 person!). Your kindness would mean so much to the kids!
Thank you in advance for helping make this project a success!
Hi everyone, I'm looking for recommendations on couple classes. It doesn't have to be a couples specific class as well, just some suggestions on new activities we could try. My partner and I are big outdoor people and with it being winter, there's not much to do. We ski and snowboard and plan on getting a rock climbing pass. We are wanting to get out of our comfort zone and try some new things and make some friends.
I have looked everywhere online for an exotic or dangerous animal permit application and cannot seem to find one. From what I’ve read, Utah is a category B state, which requires permits for certain types of reptiles. I would love to keep my snakes, any advice appreciated!
Coworker was hit by this truck in Salt Lake, photo is from a dashcam in the parking lot where it happened.
I'm trying to start a food cart business, but my county says I need a 10 gallon potable water tank, and a waste water tank that is 1.5x larger. I can't find any carts made to that specification, and buying a trailer or foodtruck isn't attainable right now. Does anyone have any tips or experience with this? Especially since I'm trying to start a tier one vendor?
I see that there are several subreddits for specific areas around the state, but can't seem to find any for Davis County, or specifically, Farmington or Centerville. So my question is just, are there any that I'm missing? I would love to have some community subs for sure.
Hello everyone. I am trying to source some Rocky Mountain juniper. I am planning on making my friend a set of chopsticks for Christmas. As a young lad he was sent to a wilderness therapy camp and he carved a lot of it during his time there. If anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks!
My family and I are new to the Salt Lake Valley and would love to take our elementary-age kids skiing, but I'm feeling overwhelmed at all of the resorts/options + how expensive skiing has gotten over the past decade. What are your tips and tricks for taking a family of 5 skiing without draining their college savings? TIA!
I am working on a short film, and a handful of scenes require an old-school metal slide. I am hoping I can get some help finding an old park or something that has one, ideally abandoned or isolated so as to not disrupt others using the park while filming. I live near SLC, and most parks I am close to have been renovated with newer equipment and plastic slides, which doesn't fit the vibe I am going for. If anyone knows of anywhere that has a slide like this let me know. Within an hour or 2 of SLC is ideal, but not needed. Thanks
There was no damn reason to be driving 10-20 MPH under the speed limit (posted speed limit was 80 MPH) almost the entire way!!! What is WRONG with you people?! My family and I constantly went from going 65+ to having to suddenly slam our brakes and then coming to a complete standstill. On I-15. In the middle of the damn day. This happened multiple times with no accidents causing said slowdowns. In the middle of NOWHERE. What the HELL was the reason for all that stopping? We all should've been going at least 80 MPH the whole way. The weather was really good today. Roads were nice and dry. And yet you idiots were driving in the right lane and then cutting off people driving in the left lane by suddenly moving over without signaling. I swear we almost got hit like 12 times. It made our normal 3.5 hour trip take 6 FUCKING HOURS. Because you absolute MORONS do not know how to drive. My dad, mom, brother and niece were all in the car behind me and one of you dick heads literally almost killed them by merging in front of them and brake checking them for no good reason. I saw the whole thing happen behind me. Mind you, my dad was going 85 in the fast lane behind me during this point with nowhere else for him to go. He was not driving slow or causing problems. So fuck you, whoever was driving a gray Nissan SUV. Holy shit. Utah, please learn how to fucking drive! End rant.
EDIT #1: I understand that I'm part of traffic. No shit. But I wasn't slamming my brakes and causing the people behind me to come to a complete standstill multiple times for no apparent reason. There were no backed up exits, no accidents, nothing like that. There was no reason for traffic to just stop in the middle of the freeway. I would understand if hundreds of cars were trying to get off at the same exit, but that wasn't happening. Not even close. People were just driving extra slow and slamming their brakes for God knows why. That's really the point of my rant. My average speed on I-15 from St. George to Spanish Fork today was 45.7 MPH. I just checked. That's I-15 ONLY. That is insane.
EDIT #2: Amazing. Several of your comments have proven my point and I could not be more disappointed in my fellow Utahns right now. It's absolutely stunning how many of your heads my point has flown over. Incredible. Reading comprehension and critical thinking skills are uh... Well... Good job 👍
My wife and i are going to occasionally meet half way, which is Tremonton. Are there any walks, or things to do during lunch, and any food recommendations.
Never thought I’d write one of these… but I can’t stop thinking about this stunning brunette I just saw at the Home Depot in Midvale. We passed eachother in one of the main aisles and I could tell you were looking at me then I saw you again with who I assume is your mom out in the parking lot and we exchanged another glance that gave me butterflies like I haven’t felt in ages. Anyway, if you see this send me a DM on instagram at ryandjeter I’d love to get to know you better/take you out 😌
Anyone know what this is?
Are there any Utah County hikes with low avalanche risk right now? The main ones I've seen are moderate I think. I have spikes. I got into hiking over the summer, but haven't done a winter one yet. Any suggestions?
Thank you!
Anyone here in Utah gay and have long covid? You don't have to be gay but just wanted to see what my dating pool looks like lol. Just need like minded individuals who want to have some coffee and bitch about how life is going while having a debilitating illness.
I’ll be visiting for work in the next few weeks and I’ll have some extra time to explore. I know very little about the state in general… What should I absolutely not miss?
