I feel like I see a lot more Democrats than Republicans here. Granted they might be a vocal minority.
i am currently applying for a state job. i have over 12 years of experience at this, 4 years of school training, and 9 years of work experience after the charge on my record. the charge in question is just over ten years ago. i'm seeing online that most companies only go as far back as 7 years on background checks, but i was wondering if that's the case for a state job. i am in the process of getting it expunged, but i don't think that will go through before the background check is run.
Where's the best place in Utah or Salt Lake County to buy winter cycling gear? I'm specifically looking for a good jacket, ideally with rear pockets. I'd rather not order online because cycling clothes sizes are wacko and I don't have the patience for dealing with returns.
Drove past a heard of about 300 donkeys near Gunnison. Why have so many? Who needs that many? I'm all for them- just curious.
This is the place.
I always see videos on events at ski resorts in Europe or mammoth, I was just wondering if there is something similar to that going on for the upcoming season in Utah?
Has anyone ever had Roy Bickle as a therapist. I can't seem to find any reviews for him. And they don't let you have a 15 minute consult before starting therapy with him.
Anyone have a recommendation for a good asthma specialist? I've got a child who's asthma is out of control and our GP hasn't been very helpful. We're in UT county, but I'm willing to drive for a good Dr. Thanks!!
Any recommendations for a fun military / vet owned bar to honor Veterans Day at?
Hey everyone,
There really wasn't a great flair for this. But it will be essentially me posing a question in the form of a solution and looking to get your feed back as answers.
I've been thinking about the system we have for a long time as well as potential solutions, and here is what I have come up with as far as state related elections.
Any election for any state heald position requires a minimum of 70% of all Eligible (not registered) to have voted.
No position is allowed to have only one person as a choice to vote for.
Every position will have an option for "none of the options provided"
Should more 20% of the total votes (assuming the minimum criteria of 70% of all capable to voters or more have participated.) use their votes to on none of the options provided. Then the new a new option and parties will be presented as options during a revote. (Must also comply with rules 1,2,3)
To win a position in a office. Candidate must attain a minimum of 50% of all the active eligible voters.
We will have a secure app that uses your DL to register you to keep you appraised of each candidate and when they are coming around to make the speak and give us an opportunity to make educated decisions.
This app will also allow for fellow adults to discuss their potential leaders anonymously. Those leaders would be able to see the concerns of the people and be able to strive to be what Utah needs and wants.
The bill for this would be called the right to have competent and capable leadership.
Like the title suggests. I am looking to find some new spots. I've been fishing the same stretch of the Provo (middle to lower) for years, but as of late it has felt over fished. Does anyone have any good recommends? I enjoyed the upper Provo, but if starts being a bit of a drive and a hike. Hoping some so tips on close-to-road spots that are within 2 hrs of the valley.
Why doesn't the Utah State Liquor store accept the Utah State Mobile ID?
Utah has always been a majorly red state, but with the state of the election, I have to imagine we will have a record number of votes for a democratic candidate. Not enough to win by any means, but I have to imagine it’ll be the highest number so far.
What do you think?
Has anybody ever actually got a job off indeed? I'm not stupid nor a bad worker. I work in kitchens and have a lot of experience and I swear I applied and EVERYTHING I could find on that app for jobs in Salt Lake City and NOBODY has gotten back to me for about a month now. I've never gotten a job off indeed although I've had the app throughout all my times I've had to find a new job/looking. It's insane. Anyways does anybody have a job for a cook? Lol
So I’ve been trying to look into an electric dirt bike and if they can be street legal in Utah and if me being 14 can ride it on the streets
I found out the Provo River bike path is amazing for free skating and I'd love to go with someone else. (And to clarify free skates are the 2 flat mini skate boards you ride on each foot, not roller blading.)
I just saw this about Judge Hogan while figuring out what judges to vote for
My name is Jessica Schreifels, and I'm a journalist with The Salt Lake Tribune. We've partnering this year with the national newsroom ProPublica to investigate the lack of access to mental health care here in Utah. This is the type of reporting that is fueled by people in the community sharing their experiences, so I'm looking to connect with anyone who has struggled with accessing mental health care when they needed it. (Or if you work in the behavioral health care system and have ideas for me, I'd love to hear them!)
I'm also looking into non-regulated alternatives people may be seeking instead -- things like life coaches, AI chatbots, peer support groups or psychedelic-assisted therapy/retreats.
If you have something you want to share, you can shoot me an email at jschreifels(@)sltrib.com.
We take privacy really seriously and would never publish anything without talking with you and getting your permission. I acknowledge this is a sensitive topic, and I'm asking people to share personal details about their mental health. FWIW, I've spent my career writing about sensitive topics like sexual assault (and was part of The Tribune team that won a Pulitzer prize for reporting on sex assault at BYU), and I've also received training on trauma reporting.
Thank you in advance!
I’ve been meaning to post this for a minute. On September 12th I filled up with gas at the Walmart neighborhood market in Herriman (13400 South 5056 West) & two days later my car shut down as if it was dry empty, though I was supposed to still be on a 3/4 tank.
The shop I took it too diagnosed the alcohol & water content of the gas was way too high. They estimated over $2,000 of repairs to remove the gas from the vehicle (can’t be siphoned with a tube) + fix some other parts of my car it messed up. I haven’t had the money to fix this yet so I’ve been without my car for over a month.
This morning, I was talking to my roommate who said her car weirdly shut down recently but she didn’t know what the issue was and hadn’t had it diagnosed yet. But she filled up at the exact same Walmart and now is also wondering if something similar happened to her.
I’ve reported this to Walmart, who has dragged their feet on getting me any kind of response when I’ve asked reimbursement for the problems this has caused. My car insurance also has not been helpful.
So here’s my questions:
Who in the state do I report this Walmart to for giving bad gas to me and possibly others?
I’ve never filed a claim in small claims court, but I think I’m going to have to and also do it by myself. $2,000+ is monumental to me but for the consumer protection lawyers I reached out to, it’s too small a number to be worth their time. Kind of feels overwhelming to think about because I don’t know anything about legal stuff, but seems I’m going to have no choice but to try.
Thanks for any help everyone & stay away from Walmart gas.
