Anyone fished Sunset pond. Heard a while back from a guy at Scheels that it’s good bass fishing there. Anyone fished it lately?
Also wondering on 21st Pond.
Today I was fishing at Bountiful Pond, and honestly, I found a few things strange.
Some of the fish had issues with their fins.
One large trout had a bulging eye, and there was something sticking out of its body that seemed to have torn part of the fish. Possibly a parasite.
I released that fish, but I have a few questions since this is actually my first time fishing in America.
A) On the DWR website, there’s nothing mentioned about fish from this pond being unsafe to eat. Can I trust this information?
B) How do you personally determine which fish is safe to eat and which isn’t? Do experienced anglers just avoid certain places and go to specific locations where they know the fish is safe?
Now I’m in a strange situation: I caught the fish, but I’m not sure what to do with it because I’m worried it might not be safe to eat.
I’ll attach a video — I filmed it in Russian for my friends, but the visuals should help illustrate what I’m talking about
Ima be fishing the Provo river and I just needa know what the best lures or baits are. Thanks
Largest fish I've ever caught in the smallest water I've ever fished successfully (BCC in the valley). I could hardly believe it.
Has any one been there bank fishing and if how is whats the best bait to use there
So I want to go fishing on tomorrow but it's gonna be like 35-50 degrees outside. Idk if that's too cold. The river I'm going to mainly has brown trout but there's other trout. If I did go what lures/bait should I use
Caught 2 massive trout today out of cove pond in Herriman and harvested them. Some guy told me I shouldn’t eat fish out of here for some reason. I found an article about a fish kill here back in June of this year but can’t find any other updates. Is it safe to eat these trout?
Probably a long shot but I just moved to highland and the creek is walking distance.
Are rapalas banned in utah? Most of maybe all of them have the two treble hooks. I believe I read anything over three hooks is banned. Is that true, if so do you switch them to single hooks? Does it look action?
Just trying to understand the rules more here and not break any..
Any help appreciated thank you!
Kind of new to the area and to fishing. What's the best place to fish this time of year around St. George?
My colleague and I are headed up to echo tomorrow afternoon, any recent reports? We went earlier this spring and did ok. He’s hoping to catch some smallies , which I’ve never caught. I’ll comment in this thread how we did when I return
Hey yall, me and some buddies wanna go fishing this weekend. None of us have been in a long time, so we're planning on getting some beginner supplies in the morning, and then going out to fish for a couple hours. We're not quite sure where we should go though. Any recommendations for a good fishing spot near Provo? Also any recommendations on stuff to grab would be great (not trying to break the bank, just stuff for getting started). Thanks!
I’m wondering if anyone knows where in Utah Lake big channel cats are? I’ve fished at the state park for a while now, and I’ve landed no joke probably 100 Bullheads, and not one Channel. I’ve been with my friends where they’ve caught absolute hogs there, but it’s been rare.
Where on the lake produces big cats? Or do I still need to keep putting in the work to try to land one where I’m at?
Thanks!
Headed up to Panguitch next week for a few days of fishing on the lake, and wondering if anyone has experience fishing there this time of year. What would you recommend using for bait and what kind of set up should we use? I've only fished up there in Summer and it's been awhile so any tips and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone out there!
Out here in SLC for work from cali just looking for some nice spots for some good fishing any suggestions???
I have two friends visiting from out of state and want to take them fly fishing but not quite sure where to start with guides or at the very least rental gear for my buddies. Im relatively new to fly fishing but my friends have never tried it.
I’ve moved to Utah this year so I’m not at all familiar with the best spots or how to find rental gear for fly fishing, so any advice is appreciated for where to get rental gear or maybe the coolest guides in SLC/Park City area, bc we’re 30 and will want to drink some brews while we’re on the water (sort of a tradition)
I was out on my boat fishing Strawberry and was able to be front and center to planes picking up water for the Yellow lake fire.
This is my first fall in Utah and I have been fly fishing the Weber and other spots this summer and have been productive. But nothing I have been throwing lately has gotten results. Fly shops have recommended things like streamers and terrestrials but that hasn’t been working for me. The fish I’ve seen haven’t been rising and I think I have used every nymph in my box at this point. My summer nymphs have no results and I tried midges and others. Is there something I am missing to the fall fishing around here?
Never caught any salmon before and I'm interested, anybody know any spots like 3 or less hours from ogden?
Hello all, I don't have waders and am new to fly fishing. I want to go somewhere early morning and try to catch some trout on the fly or streamer.
Where can I go that will give me reach to deep waters from the shore?
What comes to mind: Provo river Strawberry reservoir
That's about it, but specifically with an area, please tell me exact location is best for my purposes, since I don't have waders I can't walk into the shallow part. But I basically want an entry into fly fishing and try to catch some stuff before I invest hundreds In a net and waders.
Thank you!
I am going to spend the day on the Reservoir but I am wondering if the rivers near by are worth fly fishing in the morning.
Anyone here try it?
