I am going through a risky medical procedure that has great results for some and no results for others... Possibly thinking definitely helps. I also have lots and lots of recovery time in which I need to isolate... all suggestions welcome
A few days ago I was under the influence and somebody was telling me about their favorite movie and I wanted to look it up before the life of me I cannot remember the name. It’s a movie that I know was very obscure, but I’ve heard the name before.
The person literally said to me “it’s a movie that nobody pretty much has seen“
I think the title was something along the lines of like a “Jack in the beanstalk” or “James and the giant peach “ but it was longer and sillier. I am positive it had a name in the title.
I hope you guys can help 🙏
We are parents of kids 4 and 7. Since Tuesday we are hankering for families movies or shows bent towards justice. Some perspective, wisdom and solace welcome.
Might you have recs for any of all of these: -animated movies (even shows) -PG, G, Y7. -Netflix, Apple TV, Prime, Disney -after a reign of darkness, goodness prevails -ideas to combat misinformation with unity
Our ideas so far: -wisdom: Stillwater (Apple TV) -Matilda the Musical
“And right beside me there was you, quietly taking a stand.”
I just really have a thing (kink?) For guys getting beat on. Them getting tied up is great too lol. I'm not looking for BDSM specific stuff though that's great too. Anything with submissive boys just makes me happy. Some favourites are Vin Diesel in all the Riddick movies, Kevin Spacey's Luthor beating up Superman (though that hits different these days, eep), that scene in Se7en where Brad Pitt has a gun to his head.
Doesn't have to be guys in the dominant/aggressor role but that is preferred.
Any level of violence is fine, I'm cool with whatever.
Pls don't judge me, I'm very lonely 😂😭
Just wondering is anyone knows of some movie recommendations that are along the same lines. Watched it last night and really really enjoyed it.
can anyone recommend me horror films that are done in the social realist style ala Kill List? I know about Dead Man's Shoes and Tony
It's an incredible four hour Chinese drama about depression. It revolves around four characters and although the runtime is slightly long, it's a very rewarding film. The film is poetic on all fronts: dialogue, blocking, camera movements.
The director committed su!cide before the film release after a long battle with producers about the movie.
It's Hu Bo's directorial debut and also his last film posthumously released.
There's also videos of the press/awards tour which is absolutely heartbreaking to watch when the writer-director is not on the panels, or is able to present the film.
So basicly I watch a movie back in winter 2018 and I cannot for the k8fe of me figure out what it's called been trying to remember for years it was really good. Very different to anything else I'd watched. Just wondering (and hoping sombody else will come across this and know what I'm talking about. Not much to go on sorry.
Basicly movie there a woman who's child I think son is born and is like different. They fugure out people are choosing not to reincarnate back into humens on earth and her child has been born without a soul.
As the characters develop you also find out the women is like the oldest soul along with this other guy.
I remember them like hiding alot and there was a fight. Just the plot was cery interesting just wondering if anyone has seen it and could tell me tye name of the movie. It's been something that crosses my mind for years now and I cannot for the life of me figure what what it's called.
Any help appreciated 🙏🙃
I'm looking at Beautiful Boy to add to my list currently, and I've seen Mr. Peabody and Sherman, but are there any more movies where the loving relationship between a father and son is the focal point? I love my dad alot, and I've always been a "daddy's boy", and I was just wondering if there were any more movies that capture that, I feel like alot of movies portray fathers as distant/neutral/annoyed while the mother is the loving caring one, but it's not relatable to me, y'know? Thanks!
Chronicle (2012) is a found-footage sci-fi thriller that follows three high school friends who discover a mysterious object that grants them telekinetic powers. As they experiment with their new abilities, they begin to face personal challenges that test their control and moral limits. The film explores themes of friendship, power, and the darker side of human nature, blending a realistic tone with superhero-like elements. The story builds tension as the characters' lives spiral in unexpected directions, making for a compelling and unique take on the genre.
Super good
I’m interested in finding other gritty war movies similar to hacksaw ridge, saving private Ryan, we were soldiers, and things of that nature. What are some good suggestions? *time periods outside of WW2 and Vietnam are perfectly fine
I watched a movie called Juveniles yesterday, and I enjoyed the plot. The acting was a little iffy at times, and some of the character choices were odd, but I still really liked it. I love Winters Bone, and I'm trying to find more movies that have that dark underworld feel in the Appalachian.
I loved how in Winters Bone you could tell there was this family hierarchy similar to a gang and they all followed a code where drug dealing and murder were part of their daily life. I'm trying to find more movies that delve into that stuff.
just saw dead talents society and had an absolute wail of a time and was wondering if anyone has any recs for really great horror comedies not from the us or uk?
some horror comedies i love include detention (2012), dude bro party massacre iii, lisa frankenstein and ready or not. my favorite overall comedy is probably wet hot american summer if that helps!
im open to any horror subgenre and any country except the us or uk, because im aware of a lot from there already. absurdity and camp is more than welcome, along with anything with heart too! thanks in advance!!!!
I already watched Roots, Amistad, Django Unchained, and Battle of Algiers (not technically a slave rebellion but rebellions against colonialism are good enough) and am on my way to watching Patriot (also not a slave rebellion bit close enough). Are there any more?
Ti West is the man! House of the Devil and The Innkeepers are two of my favorites. Jack shit happens but he always manages to keep me glued to the screen and I looove the atmosphere. The third acts are also well-worth the wait and I need more of those on my watchlist!
What are some Native American movies (not Pocahontas) that aren't pure Western action popcorn flicks? So not Comanche Moon or Geronimo an American legend. More things like Jamestown even if that's from the settlers perspective more than it is from the Natives themselves? Every movie involving native americans I've seen is a western. To be clear, they can be set in the Amerian West, they just can't be of the western genre.
I loved ant-man and into the spider verse fast 6 was ok
I am open to more serious films but nothing to sad or violent. I don’t like the traditional stoner movies while high though
The movie is a Hongkong movie from 2021 and I watched it on Amazon prime.
It is shot in beautiful black and white and is about two detectives that have to catch a serial killer in a corrupted and dirty city. One of the detectives also has a personal vendetta against an important informant and deliberately sends her to difficult and dangerous people and places.
The two detectives have a classic „old experienced cop that has seen everything“ and „newbie with a strong moral compass“ relationship and they are both played incredibly well. One of them by Lam Ka-Tung who also played in „Ip-Man“ and „Infernal Affairs“ and the other one by Mason Lee, who I actually didn’t know before.
I personally really liked the movie and if you liked stuff like „Se7en“ or „Memories of Murder“ you should definitely check this one out, especially since I unfortunately haven’t heard much discourse about it.
So far Ive seen Igby goes down, every single Wes Anderson film, and it feels like every indie film ever but I really want to find films that are weirdly deadpan but great romance idk.
This probably is weird but I wonder if there are movies where the Villain is a girl who falls in love with the hero or the opposite as well but I would appreciate suggestions for a female villain who loves the hero movies or Tv series both are fine thank you.
That's the best way I can describe them: Movies like "Aftersun" and "Soundtrack to Sixteen" (watch this if you haven't please!!) which actually depict how life feels (not like a big movie).
I’m looking for some suggestions from 2012. I’m more into artsy type films as opposed to box office mainstream hits but down for either if that’s all you got
Loved the vibe and the city late at night atmosphere of this one. It’s an action thriller but focused on the philosophical dialogue and when the action happens, it’s outstanding. Heat is similar in this regard, Sicario as well. Is there anything else that captures a similar vibe?
Hello everyone! I am heading out to see a movie tonight with my wife. We are both fans of horror movies and psychologic thrillers. So, which movie would you recommend for us to see tonight?
Films like "Take Shelter" or "Safety Not Guaranteed" where they could have ended it with the person being mentally ill, but he was actually right.
I watched Prey (2022) the other day and I'm in love with it. I'm not that big of a horror fan, what I loved about it was how it showed some insight into the lives of Native Americans before the US was colonized. I would love to see more of that, it doesn't necessarily have to be about Native Americans as long as its about indigenous people living in nature I guess. Sorry if this is offensive I just don't know how else to phrase it. I have always lived in suburbs/cities and I loved the scenery of that movie. I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance!
Edit: I would obviously love it if the movies are historically accurate and represent the people in question in a respectful way.
This movie have some elements that some of today found footage movies have forgoten, the scenary, the emotions of terror reflected in the characters when they sumerge deeper and deeper in the mistery, and the sheer terror display in the end ,.. you wont waste your time with this movie, you can write a review of this movie and other movies by the same director on letter box here: https://boxd.it/zmabe/detail
What movie should I watch? A good example of one I watched recently that did this to me was All Quiet on the Western Front. Okay, give it to me. What do ya got.
This is for research purpose only. I’m a writer and challenging myself to write a romance script and I came up with an idea where the two lovers are at odds/rivals or enemies at first, and I’m looking for some suggestions to study.
Examples include shirtless guys being the hero or villain in fight scenes. Investigating shirtless, fighting the hero or villain shirtless. The more unnecessary and gratuitous the better.
