I just love love the atmosphere these movies give and the visuals are oh so amazing. I’d love to watch more like this but maybe ones that are less in time, def not an issue but sometimes I check out
My 7-year old daughter loved Tomorrowland and I am looking for more movies similar to recommend her. I was thinking maybe Race to Witch Mountain. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
I just watched Georgia Rule and was pleasantly surprised! Based on the trailer, I never felt inclined to watch it, but the actual story offers so much more than it gives off. The film was really good, and I loved the dynamic between Lindsay Lohan, Jane Fonda, and Felicity Huffman.
I absolutely adore Jane Fonda, especially in her role as the grandmother, and this was one of my favorite Lindsay Lohan performances. Garrett Hedlund’s character was great too, adding a nice injection of comedy and a likeable cute character. It’s a film with a real story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it—everyone’s performance was fantastic!
Hello, can anyone please suggest movies for me to watch about bad breakups, like cheating? I’ve recently experienced it and I just wanna feel good (or bad) watching films that I can relate, especially now. Thank you!
I'm looking for movies that encapsulate all of these feelings. For example some that I already have in mind that I think best fit this overall feeling that I'm talking about are; Herzog's Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979), The Black Stallion (1979), The Tree of Life (2011), and a lot of David Lynch's stuff like Twin Peaks, Dune, and Blue Velvet.
I need a movie where music is part of the plot, something like Baby Driver, how each scene is done to music and it means something to the main character, or how in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies music plays a big part.
looking for some pre 70's cinema and I found a director who has an interesting background as he started out as a cartoonist and animator and later branched out into live action movie-making. But what would you recommend to a beginner?
My dad is coming for a visit and I’d love a movie suggestion. He loved the marvel movies and likes mostly anything. Have you all seen anything lately that was amazing or would be a good fit for a father son movie night?
I made a post on here recently and someone recommended me to watch Trauma (2017) and jeez i could not watch that movie in full it just reminded me of A Serbian Film but more extreme. I went into it blind and got my head rocked when that first scene came on with the husband, mother and son i had to skip that part because it was too disturbing, i dont like watching scenes like that cause it triggers me too much so i always skip parts like that but as i continued watching and i was actually horrified after that baby scene, at first i didnt know what the hell was going on, my mind didnt immediately go to that i just thought the son was choking the baby but then after i realized and then i had to take a 2 hour break because i was actually disturbed, i watched on though but when it came to the 4 girls with the man and his son i was like "yeah im out" because i knew exactly what was going to happen.
Whoever recommended that movie to me, not cool man :( Edit : i thought about it long and hard and i still think A Serbian Film is worse.
Yesterday, I saw the Brutalist in 70mm, and was awestruck by how epic and massive the film felt, I thought it was a beautiful and moving film in many ways. What impressed me the most though, was that the film apparently cost about 10 million dollars or slightly less to make, which for a film that feels so grand and epic, is seriously impressive. What are some other movies you guys would recommend that were filmed on rather small budgets, but are considered epics or grand films, perhaps masterpieces?
Suggest me a movie that's giving Mountaintop Motel Massacre meets The Burning. Please!
I needed a slasher movie from the 80s-90s with teenage fun, short shorts , 80s hair and a good and unapologetic slasher villian.
Danke!
I'm currently on a Liam Neeson marathon, and after years of putting it off and getting interested in other titles, I finally sat back and enjoyed this gem of a flick. Imo this movie is a masterful work of art and a peak period peace. You don't have to be a history buff to enjoy this.
I’m trying to compile a list of films where the protagonists start out in a winter climate and get out of town to a more sunny climate. Could be some sort of vacation movie? I know there have to be a handful of films that have this basic premise. The only one I can come up with is Jim Jarmusch’s Stranger than Paradise. Any ideas?
Or just with prominent nun characters? Any style, language, or genre.
I tried googling for recs and every list is like "Nun 1, Nun 2, Bad Nun, Sister Act"
Also open to suggestions about movies with christian priests :D

Blade Runner (1982)
Basic Instinct (1992)
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Heat (1995)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
Training Day (2001)
Collateral (2004)
No country for old men (2007)
Dolemite is my Name (2019)
YOU season 2 (2019)
Once upon a time in Hollywood (2019)
The Idol (2023)
This movie watched when I was in my twenties brought out more emotion then my ten year old self seated in the cinema as E.T dies. What's your thought's on this movie ? Personally it's hovered at the top for me out of the thousands of movies and TV shows I've seen and as a massive crime fan it's touched me deeper then expected. Let me know your thought's or is it just me that feels it deserves more recognition.
We love movies like immaculate, rec., Us, midsommer , Barbarian.
(ps. It can be on any platform)
Anything that you guys like, we’ll take a look at, we’re having a long ass sleepover so we got all the time in the world to go through any suggestions!
I have been on a binge trying to find tech dystopian television shows and movies.
Stuff I have enjoyed: Devs Black Mirror Z Nation Severance Upload The OA Silo From
I like the idea of tech gone wrong, future dystopias ect.
I am not a fan of alien movies.
Got any recommendations?
I'm looking for movies similar to the Jon Favreau comedy Chef. Something that is light-hearted, but deals with important subjects. I love Chef because there is not really an antagonist, and it's mainly about learning to be a better human. I also love Sideways, and Little Miss Sunshine :) Any suggestions are appreciated!
Hello, I am looking for a movie where the lead leads a lonely and sort of painful life. The outcome does not matter, j just want to tag along their journey
Every comedy is marketed as a side-splitting, heart-warming, best of the year movie. These experiences are hit or miss for me, on their best day being a movie like “Game Night”, “The Other Guys”, or “Hail, Caesar”; on their average day we’re looking at a “Dirty Grandpa” or “The Clapper”.
Help me sort through the minutia, please!
Not every actor is passionate about their craft, and even the most well-renowned actors sometimes half-ass or lessen their efforts as a performer in order to get a quick and easy check
Even if they'll probably never admit it, you can easily tell just by looking at them onscreen
So when have you ever noticed an actor just going through motions in such a way that makes you say "yeah, they're clearly in it for the mula. You're not really passionate about this lol"
Does anyone know any movies similar to Babygirl 2024? I loved the dynamic shown in there, there was a lovely element of passionate mild humiliation within the dom/sub dynamic. Or any erotic dom/sub (male dom female sub) dynamic especially during the day as well as night. Ideally not too much BDSM but mild is fine. Desperate for more, it felt revolutionary to me! Any suggestions welcome.
I'm looking for some films that show the evolution of one actor as a chameleon. Performing and adapting to whatever films they find themselves in while showing the extensiveness of their range
What list of films best showcases this in your opinion? Which is the best example of my criteria?
I'm curious to see what you guys are able to come up with
I suspect someone I know may be considering self-elimination. Looking for movies with a “don’t give up” or “life is worth living” or “it will get better, just stick it out a while longer” message.
I've been going through the most popular and acclaimed movies on IMDb and Letterboxd, and while I've had a great time in general, I keep feeling 'underwhelmed' by some of the highest rated films.
They aren't bad movies by any means, but I've found myself disappointed by movies like Oldboy and Whiplash, which are in the top 250 of both sites; They are definitely unique pieces of cinema, with really great 'visual storytelling', but I personally do not care much about that when I am not a big fan of their stories (especially Oldboy, which felt ridiculously edgy and contrived for such an acclaimed film).
I was hoping for something more along the lines of Parasite, GONE GIRL, Dead Poets Society, Shutter Island, Donnie Darko, Good Will Hunting, Requiem for a Dream, Birdman, American Beauty, Stand By Me, Room, In Bruges, L.A. Confidential, The Lives of Others, The Wolf of Wall Street, Jojo Rabbit, Eyes Wide Shut, The Pursuit of Happyness, Mystic River, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Gran Torino, V for Vendetta or The Princess Bride.
I know a lot of the aforemenetioned movies have fantastic cinematography/acting, and that cinematography/acting almost certainly plays a part in my subconscious enjoyment of these films, however my point is I'm looking for movies where most of the 'hype'/love comes from the STORY being told (or the characters) rather than the production.
Thanks in advance :)
I like movies that really immerse you into the story like Hacksaw ridge and The Help, be it from writing, pacing, camera, acting, editing, makeup, costume effects etc
I love a good film but recently have had the urge to watch a few weird sort of films, something so strange it’ll make me laugh. Along the lines of vivarium or salt burn..
Hi! I’m looking for an old show or movie where everyone is like dead faced and proper and they take every saying seriously, Like if someone said they had a chip on their shoulder they actually had a chip on their shoulder. Could anyone lead me in the right direction? Thank you!
Here goes my second time now requesting. I’ve watched many movies that include, All the maze runners, all the Star Wars, All John wick, interstellar, the Martian and a few others. I’m currently watching pirates of the Caribbean and want to find something like the ones I listed above I’ve watched a lot more but I’m hoping you guys can lead me in a good direction!
