Big market useless presence

Found a girl unconscious on a bench outside the Old George, about 2am. Guy with her, blatantly a student who has had too much to drink, but to the nth degree. Not an issue with the guy with her, he was obviously concerned for her well being, just perhaps lacking the wherewithal to deal with the situation. Walked 100 meters to the parked up police on big market. Their response "there's an ambulance over there" Walked over to the ambulance. With 3 paramedics stood outside. Explained the situation and was finally asked, "is she breathing?" Yes she was. As im stood next to an ambulance, with 3 paramedics, i was told to phone 999 for an ambulance. They couldnt move from that spot. Its 2am, theres an unconcious young woman on a bench down a dark alley. "If shes breathing you have to call 999" What is the point of the police and ambulance presence on bigg market if not to deal with that exact situation?

Pears with the protective netting

Hi guys/gals,

Can someone tell me what the pear-ish fruit is that comes with the criss cross white protection cover? I last saw them in the granger market.

My friends from Newcastle know what i’m talking about but my colleagues in Stockton don’t have a clue - hence the subreddit choice.

Thanks!

Is Jarrow in an okay place for nothumbria university

I am looking at university’s currently, Northumbria is one to consider as I have family in Jarrow. Ideally I would like to be near them rather than in the actual city. I have been to Newcastle a fair few times and know the basic areas. Commuting from Jarrow metro station to monument metro station, which is round the corner to the university in total it’s around 20-25mins.

Do you think it’s reasonable to commute ?

Beard Barber Recommendations

I've not had a decent beard trim in years.

I've tried several barbers since moving here, but every time I go and ask for 'a tidy up' or 'a light trim', they remove inches. Leaving barely 1cm of hair on my face. This is not a style I enjoy

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a barber with lots of experience with larger/busier beards?

I'm willing to travel

Thanks in advance.

Bar 52- where next?

I was in bar 52 earlier and it was really lively then everyone seemed to leave. Is this just a first stop on a bar crawl type of place? And if so, where next

Buses

Anyone take a stab (or know the exact number) at the number of buses that pass through Newcastle per day? We’re talking individual buses here. Who knows, maybe it’ll come up on a pub quiz or raffle someday and I’d really like to know the answer.

Removal Companies - Gallaghers/Fergusons?

Has anyone used Gallaghers or Fergusons for moving house? We’ve got really decent quotes back from both and both seemed really decent.

Looking for personal experiences/reviews before picking. Thanks all!

New to the metro

I have a pop card and rarely new to using the metro. I understand the whole tap in and tap out. But some stations I'm not sure where I tap in or out. Like at Kingston park. Anyone know where I can do that?

Kevin the Badger

Anyone remember Kevin? Some bloke in a badger costume who'd turn up at first schools in the 90s and wander round the hall at dinnertime with a ghetto blaster... Think he wore a NUFC top.

Followed outside train station at 5am 19m

I’m 19 at uni and look young, was told I look 16 ,I’m 5”7. I was out this morning and all clubs closed so it was time for me to go home or get food. I chose to get food near train station and on the way I met a guy who seemed friendly. He didn’t say what his job was and he said he was from New Zealand. I thought this was strange as he was black and looked African but I didn’t judge it thinking he just didn’t want to say where he was from or just assume he was lying. In the kebab shop there was another guy who complimented my eyes ,after I said his costume was cool, and seemed like he was moving to me. I was speaking to the black guy about it joking what would happen if I went with him. Honestly not sure if gay or not but definitely wouldn’t go home with a random man. Then outside the guy was asking I I want to go home with him and I could be top which set few red flags off with me and wanted to leave . I thought this was strange as he didn’t seem the gay type and just seemed a bit dodgy. I say to him I’m going home and cross the road cause I was seeing what he would do. He followed me across the road down and down a street near the coach station. I see him still following me and think wtaf no way this shit is happening. I was quite nervous so I go up to a group of young black men and ask if they can help which they didn’t give a shit. I went to the coach station and luckily there was some lads who I stayed with. The guy walked past me pretending to be on the phone and stayed there for 20 mins while he kept looking at me. I had done some cocaine so I was even more paranoid about it all. After about 20 mins he left and which then the lads I was with watched me as I went the other way across the road. Can’t thank them enough tbh. On the way home I was scared that he would be round the corner waiting or behind a bush. I’m home now and still kinda scared lol.

I know this stuff happens to women which is why they always go home with each other but I acc never expected to happen to me. I don’t know what he would have done if I went down wrong street. This all happened at like 5 in morning. Moral of story don’t stay out too long by yourself or speak to anyone who is obviously lying. Some people just do not have any morals. I do believe tho that if he got me, I wouldn’t have been seen again which is crazy to think about.

Part time or full time jobs

Hey guys, My two friends are looking for work.. there are no vacancies where I work so I thought I would ask reddit how to get a job or how did you get your job. One is available full time and another one is a student at northumbria uni. No preference in terms of jobs but maybe customer service or retail etc.

What we are doing so far; Looking for work and applying on Indeed - but so far no success

Any leads or advice would be greatly appreciated Thank you!

Mobile Provider

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for recommendations mobile providers. Currently, I'm with iD Mobile, which uses the Three network. However, over the past two years, the service has become so poor that making calls has become nearly impossible. I often experience call drops and significant delays between when I speak and when the other person hears me. I also never get signal on the metro which is just frustrating.

This issue occurs across all of Newcastle as I previously lived in Heaton and now live in Denton and it's the same issue basically 1 bar. Any suggestion? Was looking at EE as I'm currently with BT internet.

I did promise to do something about Reach PLC, and I still intend to do so. Unfortunately, CityFibre had massive national outages yesterday and today, and I've only just gotten back online. I have so much work to catch up on, so Reach will need to wait until Monday. It's not ideal, I know.

Pubs and clubs that play pop/hip hop/top hits

Have yet to find a pub or club here that consistently plays pop, hip hop, and/or top hits. Not a big house fan and that’s generally all I’ve heard at the places I’ve been. Any recs would be appreciated!! Thanks :)
