My wife's just had a memory of something around the time the center for life opened around 2000 so we'd have been 12 or so.
It was a simulator like those rollercoaster ones but the jist was you were at St James' Park and your wife went into labour. You then got into a taxi to go to the hospital. The simulation was the ride to the hospital.
If it wasn't centre for life it was discovery museum. It's proving impossible to Google but wonder if anyone else has a memory of it?
I was here last year around this time and there were no buses. Nice sight to see buses on the road but now the metros aren't working. Is it always like this?
What's the cheapest bar in Newcastle in your experience? Currently in The Beehive which has £3.95 bottles of Peroni. Think single spirits and mixers are £5.
Edit - got it wrong, house trebles £3.75 excluding mixer (so probably £5), on happy hour Fosters £2.50, Stella £3.30, Becks and Bud bottles £2.95, vodka & Red Bull jugs £15.
Anywhere else to rival it? Sgt. Peppers maybe?
Hello you fair and canny folk.
Essentially I'm looking to find more like-minded ravers within the north east. I'm always looking for events to go to and I'd love to get to know more people in the scene here. If anyone can signpost me to groups/forums where people are also looking to spend a few of the nighttime hours dancing with strangers to some thump thump music.
Techno is my personal favourite although I'm a bit over the hard techno that is doing the rounds nowadays. I produce music and DJ and basically just want to find more people who are interested in the same kind of events as I am.
Any help is much appreciated x
My wife has asked me to take her somewhere ‘nice’ for a drink over Xmas. She doesn’t mean posh or expensive, just somewhere where being dressed smartly is not seen as being overdressed. Definitely not our local was the suggestion.
I frankly stumped.
So where could be considered ‘nice’ for a couple to go for a quiet drink or two in Newcastle?
Hey, there's a few of us from out of town, looking to watch the match before dinner tomorrow in the town centre.
We're in our early 40s so looking for somewhere not too hectic. Basically a boozer with a big telly. Where's good please? Thank you!
Hey everybody!
I got a ticket to Newcastle vs Bournemouth and I'm flying over from the States.
I'm landing in London and taking a train from King's Cross up to Newcastle. I'm hoping to watch Newcastle vs Wolves on the 15th at The Strawberry. Then the next couple of days are exploring the city before the Bournemouth match on Saturday.
I was hoping for some suggestions for hotels that are near the stadium and Central Station. I saw "The Gate" at city centre which looks cool but I'm open to other recommendations.
I was also curious if there are bike rentals or scooter rentals?
For the few days in between matches I was hoping to get some suggestions of must see stops, as well as restaurants or anything else that I should see! I will only be in the city for four days in total but that still gives me some good time to get around.
Any help would be much appreciated.Thank you!
anyone remember the Newcastle upon Tyne chatroom on yahoo late 90s/early 2000s? It was elite banter. If you do remember it, I’m honoured to be a part of the same community as you.
I love seeing reindeer with the kids, but I haven't been able to find anywhere this year.
Anyone seen any?
Swear to God imagine you're about to head off for Christmas and then the flyover goes pop, then you hear the metro underneath isn't usable, then your New Year's Eve fireworks go off on 20th December....
What else is on the bingo card before the years end? Angel falling over?
I've assumed someone accidentally let them all off at once just now 😅
Just heard like 5 minutes of loud banging kind of sounded like fireworks in the distance any else hear it/have any idea what it was?
I could see them from where I am but I couldn't find any events. Did someone set off the NYE display early?
Anyone know what the 10 minute long display of fireworks was about? Could see them from the top of Ouseburn! Maybe a black eyed Friday special???
I currently use VOXI and it is always disconnected during peak hours. I heard that people said EE should be the best but the price was over £30 a month. It is 3 time more than my current one. How does it work actually? In general, the price wouldn't be that drastically different.
Wanting to get my first tattoo but wanting it to be fineline - where is best to go? If yous have any recommendations and artwork to show, please do! Thanks guys!
Looking for an old pal I worked with for a few month in Newcastle. This was approximately 2014. I was a plumber on a job, used to be Linekers on the round about. Jay was a labourer on the job. He was an absolute gentleman. He was mid 40''s absolutely jacked and missing his front upper teeth. Would appreciate if anyone that knows this legend get in touch 👍
Today I went on a mission.
a mission for cheese, (Sicilian pecorino). Hit 5 stores, 1 of them had Sardinian pecorino
said Sardinian, tastes like soap and was 40 quid a kilo.
is their anywhere here where I can buy Italian cheese which doesn't taste like it was made in someone's bath-tub ?
Hi,
We're visiting from Australia for Christmas and staying with relatives in Whickham (Gateshead). Heading into town tomorrow morning for a tour at the Lit and Phil (10.30am tour) and will be in town all day till teatime.
Just wondering what's the best way of getting in and out please with all the traffic trouble? Especially your experiences today if someone here has made a similar trip with the Metros down?
We have a hire car or could get the bus, just wondering what people's thoughts and experiences are about which would be more hassle right now? Thanks for your help.
I've been running a small Facebook Ads marketing business in Newcastle for the past few years and in that time I've never seen or heard of any Newcastle/North East networking events other than marketing awards nights. I'm wanting to meet more business owners in the area to learn from those doing well locally but can never seem to see any. Is there any around or is it worth organising my own? Cheers
Is this still a thing? Will you be going out with your work for a few? If so take care and no barneys in the taxi queue
Hope it goes ok for folk working today/ over weekend
Stay safe 😁
Been announced that the metro will remain suspended tomorrow between Monument and Heworth and also between Airport and Kingston Park. Limited replacement bus service in operation but not until 9.30am.
I need to go to the toon But cant take the metros since they are off
