Any Scottish country dance clubs?

Does anyone know of any Scottish country dance clubs/nights in Bristol? Not exactly new to the area, but I am finally in the position of being able to have something of a social life and looking to meet likeminded lasses/individuals

Car damage Oakfield Rd

If you own a Greyish VW Golf/ Polo and parked it outside 46 Oakfield road tonight.

I saw a car drive into your car as they left a space at 5:30 pm today. They then parked just down the road.

The car was a silver Toyota Vitz. Reg LN62 GJV.

There is damage to your driverside rear bumper and wheel arch.

There is likely damage to their passenger side front bumper. I believe the driver was a young male with black hair and glasses.

Looking for MCs/Vocalists

I’ve been doing a bit of production lately just for a bit of fun and would like to find some MCs and/or vocalists to collaborate with on a few tunes.

Wondered if anyone knew of any websites/apps/open mics etc where I could get started?

Like I say, it’s just a bit of fun, but I would like to make an EP or something over the next 18 months or so.

Hip hop, trip hop, garage, soulful grimey type beats are what I’ve generally been making but up for collaborating on anything. Just like being creative really.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Cheers!

Weird old dude with knife in Arnos Vale cemetary

Just a head's up; my kid's just told us they saw a weird old man fiddling with a knife by the entrance to Arnos Vale. He's got greying hair, grey scarf, jeans, a black jacket and seems very calm. We've reported it to the cops, and they're gonna check it out, but if you're going that way be a bit wary.

Anywhere to play 4-player games on a Nintendo Switch or similar?

Hi, my children would love a Switch for Christmas but budgets don't allow for it at the moment. (I looked into renting one but that was crazy expensive too). I'd like to be able to take them somewhere to play Nintendo games consoles though, around Christmas time, in or near Bristol - there used to be a bar on Park Street which had N64 and things but that's closed now. Any ideas where? Beyond in town next to GAME only has a PS5 and PCs as far as I know.

Thanks 🙏🏼

Buying BCC ex council flat

Hey. Hoping someone can give me some advice. I've seen a flat recently and put an offer it. It seems I'm getting a steal (175k for a good size 2 bed with parking/private garde in a okayish area)

I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with BCC being the leaseholder. Cost of lease extension etc (how can I find this out!) unexpected maintenance bills etc.

I understand there can be some caveats and I'll be having a survey done anyway.

It's a block of 4 flats (semi detached houses converted into flats)

Would you go for this, Anything you'd look out for etc.

Thanks

E-Bike Phone Snatchers active outside Temple Meads - but rode into a bush

Here’s the statutory reminder to be careful about your phones around Temple Meads! Except this time he got what was coming.

E-Bike Balaclava Boy cycling wrong way up Temple Way. You can see him about to snatch a man’s phone waiting to cross the road, building up speed, ready to snatch.

Cycled into a bush, didn’t he. Missed the phone, missed the man, straight into a bush at speed. Fantastic. Knocked his North Face hood off.

Dusted himself down, hopped back on his bike but definitely dented his pride and ego. Felt like he got what was coming to him.

🖤 Were you the man in Park St Boston Tea Party this morning

Hi Bristol.

We’re you the man in a band tee and green coat sat with two mates this morning in BTP (upstairs)? I fancied you, we looked at each-other a lot, but I was too shy to say hello.

01179

So I know this isn’t even a first world problem and I should just get a life but anyway. This bugs me every time I see it. Some people may not remember but until the 1990s, the STD code for our beloved city was 01272 (before then of course it was just 0272). Then the government changed the phone numbers of cities, so Manchester became 0116, Nottingham 0115, Sheffield 0114, etc. And Bristol became 0117. Some people refused to acknowledge having a new seven digit phone number and so just used 01179 as the dialling code. Since then we now have numbers beginning with 3 as well as 2. Make me grit my teeth when I see business signage using 01179. There; I’ve said it. Feel a bit better now🤣.

Edit: I clearly imagined 01272. As has been pointed out, it was a straight switch from 0272 to 0117.

David Lloyd southmead

What was it before David Lloyd or was it newly built? I'm convinced it was a leisure centre but my mate thinks otherwise

Is there anywhere to grab a quick snack/fast food near The Marble Factory please?

Friend is driving me to a gig there later, we’re leaving early and I’ll definitely want some food but it seems like there’s nowhere close? I’ve searched this sub and people recommend The Barley Mow but I don’t want to drag him away from the gig for ages to do that, is there anywhere that even sells just wraps/sandwhiches? I can’t see any Greggs or McDonalds which would be my usual go-to in these situations 😅 just anything vegan and quick would be great, thanks

Edit; what a brilliant and helpful sub, thanks so much guys

Anyone else try to get a bus on Bath Road this morning?

In the 30+ minutes I stood at the bus stop this morning (Arnos Court) 3 of the 8 scheduled busses turned up.

One was not in service, one was full, one was empty but didn't stop.

Now walking into the office (no tiers between here and the city centre) on track to be 45 minutes late. It will have taken me over an hour to do a journey of about 2 miles.

This city is broken.
