Y'alright then? Anything about our lovely Teesside.
Fancy a parmo?

Hey everyone,
Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to go in Boro for food and a couple of drinks on Boxing Day? Daytime rather than evening/night. Doesn't have to be super fancy food, but better than 'stingey boss pays for set meal' standard.
Any advice warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated.
If public transport links to the hills are as poor as quick Google search suggests, sharing a handy drop off point by taxi would also be helpful.
EDIT: I don’t mind walking to / from a train station or bus stop but ideally half hour or less as I want to save my energy for hiking the hills.
Hi,
I'm off work this Friday, and I've got my five year old grand daughter for the morning. Can anyone suggest something to do, or somewhere I can take her that isnt...
Soft play (she prefers to go with other kids rather than on her own).
The beach (its naffing freezing).
I need to get my 'cool grandad' points in, before xmas

Listen to Shot Like A Smoggie by Radgie Gadgie on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/MV4mp
Now then all! So a bit of backstory before ya listen. So one of me pals back home made a rap album back in school days of which we've been pestering him to release to us for the last decade n a half to no avail. Recently, one of me other mates made a group chat, adding us all in and others to call him out in a rap of his own to try blag him into giving us the album. This then spiraled into us all making random tracks for a laf.
Which leads me onto this. So I'm not really a rap fan by any measure. Very casual listener if that. But me pals are big into it n often share local tracks from Teesside rappers for us to gander at. What I kept finding was it never sounded like a Smoggie. Always imitating southern/London style tones, words n dialect instead of using our own. Which gave me the idea to do a rap light heartedly calling out the Teesside rappers for not using our rich dialect and accent in their music.
As such I give ya, Shot Like A Smoggie.
Below are the lyrics and below that is some other words and meanings I'm gathering for potential future attempts. Also a link to a website that helped jog me memory with some of our dialect. Turns out it goes quite deep. I reckon raps could be wrote entirely in Smoggie dialect that would appear as a foreign language for anyone outside of Teesside.
So I'm hoping this could inspire a couple of other Smoggie rappers to have a crack at rapping in their own accent and using our own dialect.
If ya do please drop ya links in comments.
Also, please comment any other dialect words ya can think of with their meaning that is not in me own list or on the website link
Cheers 🤘

Hi. I like following this kind of town trail, but can't find a list or map of them all. Sometimes on this kind of trail each plaque or info board shows a little map of them all and has them numbered etc., but these don't. Here's a news article about the Trail as you might not know what I'm referring to.
https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/14622833.heritage-plaques-installed-across-middlesbrough
As you can see there's a picture with nine plaques there, but I'd just like confirmation that that is all of them. Even if it was at the time, more could have been added.
I can't find a list or map of them, or leaflet or webpage or anything . An app was released but I can't find that either, although I don't really want it - I don't have a smartphone and am just after a list, or map. I asked the appropriate part of the Council and they didn't answer.
Does anyone happen to know whether this is the full list:
Railway Station
Winter Garden
Webb House
Port Clarence
Transporter Park
Bolckow Vaughan Ironworks
Teesside University
Dock Clock Tower
Dorman Museum
Thank you!
Is there any FPV freestyle self build drone hobbyists here or know of any groups in the local area?
Visiting a mate this week and, as it is his birthday and he has done me a lot of favours, I want to buy him a good Steak.
I haven't lived in Teesside for over 20 years so I am a bit out of the loop on most things but particularly good places to eat out.
Going to be based in Stockton but happy to travel for a good meal.
Any recommendations would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, I'd like to rent a Tesla just for one or two days just to experience one. I can't seem to find any website that offers them locally and don't really want to go down the 'prestige' car website route where I need to go through quotes etc.. maybe that's my only option but wondered if a yone had managed to hire one from a normal rental company?
Edit: I called europcar Middlesbrough and they don't have any

Hello!!
First and foremost thank you for actually noticing this post.
I’m at Teesside Uni (second year law student), but things are somewhat stale at the moment. Just finished my first set of exams, rotted in my room since Friday because omg I needed a rest 🤣
You know the drill.
I figured I’d give this subreddit a shot (since it’s local), and see if I could meet one or two people here to add some excitement to my life again?
I’m going to keep this somewhat brief because I have a more detailed post on the UK subreddit (but I didn’t want to just copy and paste because I am a person of quality, not quantity 💅🏻).
Anyway! Leave a comment or DM me if you’re around the age I specified in the title of this post and would be down to maybe, POTENTIALLY, give a friendship a shot ✨
hi :) my parents moved to the area a few months while i was finishing my last year of uni. i was kinda hoping I'd make some human connection through work, but I've ended up working fully remote from my bedroom (which is a blessing but doesn't really help my problem of having lived in my bedroom for my entire life). Where's the best place to look for local groups/events? I've tried looking but I've never really tried getting myself out so I'm a bit useless so don't really know where to start haha. I'm kinda nerdy and I've been sober for quite a while so pubs and the normal young adult stuff isn't really my thing 😭 I know there are board game shops and stuff but can you just waltz in and make friends?! thanks
Hello! I will be coming to Stockton-on-Tees to study at the Durham University International Study Center from January 6th to August 29th, 2025.
The student accommodations are 230£ a week (all utility bills + internet included). Im not sure about the prices in England but it is too expensive compared to dorms I've been to during my undergraduate studies.
My question is, is this price fair or should I look for a place to rent (with or without roommates)?
Thank you!
