Ladies, careful around Port of Call on a night out!

Careful all women! Dangerous doorman!

Had an evening here and we were just enjoyingg drinks. My friend walked past the door staff (dark blond, beard, maybe 5 foot 10) and they started verbally abusing her, commenting on her body and clothes. Absolutely disgusting comments like 'I bet you get fcked on the cobbles with those tts' and 'do you do 2 for 1'. Her boyfriend tried to defend her and was rewards by being assaulted and physically thrown from the door.

Made more comments about me saying that 'I wasn't even worth r*ping' when asked for their badge numbers.

Avoid like covid if you value your safety

Need help with student accommodation

Hello, I hope you’re all doing well! I’m an international student who is looking for an appartement or studio, for a long term rental. However I am currently not in the UK and will be arriving in January. As most student accommodation are booked, I started looking on sites like Zoopla and Rightmove, but most of the time they want me to visit first (which I can understand), but I’m unable to do that. Do anyone know where else I should look for accommodation that are student friendly ? Things like good real estate agencies, or individuals who rent their properties. Thank you soooooo much if you reply to this !

Looking for table top RPG games

I (33m) recently became interested in TTRPGS through work (trained to deliver them for youth groups) but never actually played them before. Turns out this is something I wish I'd done as a kid because it's right up my street. I want to get into playing them in my free time but have no idea where to start. I moved to the North East east a couple of years ago and all my mates are 200 miles away so there's no hope there! Anyone have any thoughts?

Help

I recently got a hold of my Mam’s birth certificate after her passing, it has the address they lived at as 41 back Brooke street (it also says U.D underneath, not sure if it’s repeated). This was in 1942, I’ve tried googling it but not much coming up. Does anyone have any maps/photos/info or could point me in the right direction? Thanks

Asking for a place

I stumbled across this photo of the cemetery somewhere around the Sunderland area and couldn’t help but be curious. Can anyone help me pinpoint exactly where this is? It's got a mix of older and newer graves, plus some unique statues and decor. Any insights would be brilliant. Cheers!

Any warhammer groups in the area?

Not long moved back up to Sunderland with the wife and kids since I was here for uni a few years ago. I've been a stay at home Dad which is great but I've felt a bit isolated. As a result I've been painting warhammer models which has really helped with the stress of having a baby. Now she's at nursery for a couple of days a week I thought I'd try and get out and play a few games and socialise. Any recommendations? Cheers guys

Move to areas of Houghton Le Spring

I have a good job offer in Houghton Le Spring (Sunderland) and will be going to visit that area before I make my decision.

Any recommendations on

  1. Places to rent less than 30mins drive from there
  2. Areas to avoid
  3. Generally things to do in the area
  4. Things to be aware of
  5. Other relevant tips

I am a female in my 20s and love hiking in my free time. Will be living alone and have lived abroad and alone during my student years. I have another job offer in Leith Edinburgh, however the one at Houghton is my first preference.

Pete Tong at Herrington

Has anyone gotten a refund for this event that got cancelled? It was a shit way to postpone the event, literally an email 2 hours before it was due to open, but now it's nearly 3 months and Skiddle aren't dishing out refunds yet claiming they're waiting for the event organisers to claim on the insurance. It's an absolute piss take if you ask me.

Anyone play Call of Cthulhu RPG?

Been playing a variety of TTRPGs over the last few years, in person & on line. It’s getting to the point where I realise my home group just aren’t into the same kinds of games as me: they like guns & being murder hobos; I like playing characters & investigating stuff, preferably in a horror setting. Looking for a new group to join. Definitely not D&D. Anyone?

Advert lost in time.

I think this maybe a Mandela effect scenario. After speaking with multiple people, some who remember this and some who do not- I need to find out how many other people remember it or do not have a clue what I'm on about and think I'm mental.

Does anyone remember the Sunderland advert? I'm 29 and I remember a (I'm guessing a tourism) advert for Sunderland. I was only a bairn at the time so can't fully remember the details. This was in the early 2000s, it had various shots of the city centre, stadium, beach. It had a song with the lyrics "nice one Sunderland". I swear this is real and so do others but I can't find proof of it anywhere!

Barbers accepting card payment?

Like the title suggests, I’m looking for a decent barber who accepts card payments. I’ve gone to like 5 different barbers and they only take cash, I’m starting to lose my mind! Any recommendations?

Finally got to saw Sunderland Station

Was heading to Newcastle from the town so I had to finally use it and I'd of course heard stories about how much of a waste of money it was to redo it but wow. 24 million on THAT? Where did it go? It's just a massive open space with like 12 seats, 2 ticket machines, 1 vending machine and some out of order toilets. Edit: whoops meant to be see not saw.

Schools near Thornhill

Hi we are looking to move to Thornhill area and have a teenager and little ones, so are looking at both primary and secondary schools and which are best to put them in? Can people advise? And if you have any experiences I’d be interested to hear them

Please no unhelpful comments like ‘no schools are good’, as I know there are a lot of schools that are struggling to provide good education to children and we are experiencing that currently with the school our teenager is in.

Last line needed please!

Growing up in Sunderland in NE England, my Nana and older folks of the family used to sing this rhyme to us but I can’t remember the proper last line of it. It’s as follows;

Clap your hands for daddy coming down the wagon way, With a pocket full of money and a bag full of hay.

When your daddy comes, Tell him all the news Tell him ………..( this is where our version came in. Tell him our (baby’s name) wants a new pair of shoes.

I’m positive we made up the last line but can’t remember what it should be! Help me out please, it’s driving me nuts

Found keys - Friday 27th September

Found a set of keys in the subway underpass that leads from Bridge street to Wearmouth bridge at about 10pm on Friday 27th September.

I've included a picture of the keys.

If they're yours or you know someone who lost keys that night dm me the names on the heart shaped keyring and I'll let you know how to collect them. (They're at a local business on that area)

Call of Cthulhu RPG

Are there any RPG groups that play CoC or similar? Not D&D. Long time GM wants to get into more “serious” role playing.
