Hi,
I have just received a bill for 1000£ for hours of social care I never received (family was visiting and doing full time care). Turns out no one actually checks what hours are being carried out or not, leading to a standard charge every month.
Has anyone had issues with this before? The care is also related to keeping on top of admin/finances for me. Yet the people who are supposed to safeguard aren't. Has anyone reported this before? How many people are being overcharged for hours never received but are too vulnerable to report/ even notice?
Any other advice?
Tonight's fireworks display(s) have been going on for over two hours and they don't seem to stop.
I like fireworks just as much as your average person, but the noise has slowly become annoying and it's now unbearable. I've never experienced anything similar anywhere else I've lived (cities of similar size or bigger).
Does it stop after the 5th, or since it started a week before it will go on for a week after? I'm tempted to move out for a while 😀
Are there any fireworks events or displays happening tonight that are worth going to?
(I look forward to 50 replies saying “just look up at the sky” from the unfunniest people you could ever meet)
I see so many posts ignoring the crap bucket status of Hull, it annoys me.
I will not deceive you, for those of us who left, Hull is not a great place to revisit.
Hull can not move forward because those who ignored genuine comments of Ex-Hullains are ignored, belittled and laughed at.
Hull is a massive shit hole. It will not get better, despite a huge potential.
The city centre is boring, it has not residents, or very little. On a Thursday evening, there was few people? We're a city of 300k-ish
Seriously, Hull, get a fucking grip!
Leave the bucket, come back, and realise, it's shite then maybe things will get better
My partner and I have come for the evening for a night out. We went to The Hispanist for tea which was lovely (much fancier than anywhere we normally go!) and felt like a real treat. But then when we came out I felt a bit lost. This street we’re on feels faintly threatening? I don’t know if it’s because it’s still early and quiet but it doesn’t seem like we’re in the best bit.
I’m sure hull is lovely so would like to make the most of it! I’m from Newcastle so when I say ‘threatening’ it’s not because I’m well posh! Currently in spoons plotting our next move. Mid 20s!
Whenever I drive on the motorway (mainly the m62 to Manchester), I go 70 but I find so many cars just zooming past me
Is 70 not actually the "speed limit"?
I feel like I'm driving slowly even though I'm going at the legal limit
Hello, i was just wondering if anyone knew of any local firework displays going on? we unfortunately don’t drive so would have to be very local and easy to get to using public transport😊🎆
Anyone know of any good streets/areas to go trick or treating?
Does anyone wanna hang out just for friends ? My interests are ; gaming , tv series , going to places , etc .. Im open to trying new things .
Feeling pretty isolated and there doesn’t seem many opportunities to meet people other than going to bars / clubs and drinking and even then I don’t have anyone to go with
I just got belittled brutally by staff in specsavers for not being able to follow verbal instructions 100% , walked out the store crying .
Don’t mind paying a lot extra monthly if it at least means the staff aren’t dicks
I just want a service where I won’t feel rushed nd belittled for not being able to do something after the 100th attempt
Is there anywhere in East Hull that comes remotely close in prices to Dollies on Hessle Road?
£1.50 for a bacon sandwich, £1 for a coffee, 50p for a hash brown...
Like the title says for bonfire night job was thinking of going to Beverley and was wondering whether anyone has been before and if so is it worth going? Thanks in advance!
It's my only day off tomorrow, and I've promised to take my son to Leeds for the day. Not been in a few years, as last time the train at half 4 was rammed with workers on their way home, which we'd specifically picked as I thought it would be half 5 onwards.
So, what time would be best to avoid this? Don't mind staying a bit later as there's no school to be up for
Organising an old boozer pub crawl and wondered if this one is still open?
About 2AM this morning / last night I woke hearing someone reaching through door with a coat hangar. Has anyone else had this happen?
I wanted to use this chance to remind everyone to not leave anything hanging within reach of your letterbox. Luckily the bag they tried to get was too heavy and it fell on the floor.
Dunno if there is any point in reporting it but yeah this sort of thing happens, right?
Also found a broken litter picker on the grass outside.
Me and my mate were on the way back to my house on one of the roads not far from Belgrave Drive and sometimes just for a laugh we take a shortcut down someone's driveway of one of the houses on Belgrave Drive, then walk through their garden and hop over their fence.
On one occasion we've had someone scream after us, but never actually caught up with us, until this evening.
We got as far as the back garden and a guy comes running out calling us little scrotes and he'll teach us a lesson we'll never forget.
My mate gets grabbed hold of by this guy and I run back out of the driveway and onto the road, but just as I'm near to the Anlaby Road end of the road, a car pulls up and the guy from the house I just run away from grabs hold of me and throws me into the boot at the back where my mate is already there. After what feels like an eternity, he stops and opens the boot growling at us to not even think about running away and he dragged us both out and I realised we are in the car park of Clough Road police station. My mate manages to escape just as we are about to go through the entrance but I fail to escape.
The police see to me and give me a very stern lecture about not taking shortcuts wherever I like, then arranges for me to be taken straight home.
I get a phone call from my mate saying he's OK now, just a little shaken up and I tell him the same about myself but how the actual fuck could this guy justify pulling this shit on us when it's a civil matter? Does he not understand the damage it could cause to mine and my mates mental health?
I mean when we cut through his back garden before, we never stolen or damaged a thing so wasn't he being extremely heavy handed in his approach to us? One or both of us could have had an extreme panic attack and died in the car.
Which places would people recommend for cheap alcohol before going to the clubs.
Anyone know if you pay for 24 hours of you can come and go within that period?
Anybody know of a place in Hull where i can just walk in and buy various sizes of metal compression springs? Cheers
Does anyone know if there are any good barbers in Cottingham because honestly been let down by every one I go too
Howdo
Looking for recommendations for places to eat near the ferry terminal. Are places like Dexters, Dope Burgers any good?
Can be in town a bit but easy to get in and out would be preferable.
Thanks
Hey,
This has been asked a decent number of times so thought a poll might be good to help me! But also anyone in the future! If it get's pinned?
Been with KCOM 5 years and honestly I'd pay it for reliability but last 6 months have been poor, drop outs, two new routers still not 100%. So having a little look around! Right now I'm leaning towards Squirrel due to A) There Customer service have answered me loads! B) A few people I know have switched to them and rate them at the speeds!
One reason I'm thinking of a switch too is upload speed, KCOM are around 20% of what everyone else offers.
HullFibre/OpenFibre - I've heard A LOT of mixed about there performance and support after you sign up with them. Would love to hear some experience.
Connexion - They seem to have some great deals but using KCOM lines I'm limited to 150 Upload. But download is 900 Mbps for £40.
I'm West Hull. 2 Adults one kid, house isn't huge but a decent amount of smart gadgets and I work from home, I don't mind a small drop at peak times 30% off 900Mbs is still better than I get now!
Current package is 500 up and 150 down at £60 a month!
EDIT: Just a minor edit! I heard great things about "Grain" Sadly not available at my address. If this changes I will update!
