The Complete Guide to London New Years Eve Parties

Fellow Londoners, beloved tourists and Americans inexplicably posting here, it is time for another NYE Parties Guide!

This is the third NYE London guide I post every year, some of y'all might remember my weekly nightlife posts as well. Unfortunately, my motivation to post on Reddit only to get responses like "London sucks, mate, we have a better nightlife in [A collection of hovels somewhere up in the North]" only lasted for a year.

DISCLAIMER: This list is entirely based on my experiences, tastes (or lack thereof) and areas I prefer going out so you might not agree with my choices, it's all good. Feel free to post what you think would be better and I'll add to the OP. My aim is to keep things free or low/reasomable cost but will throw in some spenny ones if I think it might be worth it for the experience. This thread will get updated with new parties and events so keep an eye on it during the month!

STOP ASKING ABOUT WHERE YOU CAN WATCH THE FIREWORKS FOR FREE JESUS TAPDANCING CHRIST I HATE YOU ALL SO MUCH

  1. No, there are no free rooftops or super sekrit treehouses we hide from you, everything that has seating and the view of fireworks will be grossly expensive
  2. Not planning or booking ahead a party and trying to pull a walk-in will most likely to end up in frustration
  3. Internet services and phones absolutely shit themselves during events like this, plan ahead with your mates. TfL will also close off certain tube stations and bus services until a certain time so check those out if you have plans to move around.
  4. Your best bet would be arriving early to your chosen area and looking around for somewhere to squat. If you think something like watching the fireworks then find a place to party, good luck. Some venues might get less crowded after 1 a.m. as we Londoners are extremely lame but yeah
  5. No matter what, never, EVER go to Tiger Tiger Lol Tiger Tiger got closed, finally.

The Master Lists for Major Parties:

DICE FM NYE Parties List: https://dice.fm/browse/london/music/party?from=2024-12-31&until=2024-12-31

Dice is usually big on live music, alternative and commercial club nights.

Resident Advisor Parties List: https://ra.co/events/uk/london?startDate=2024-12-31

Resident Advisor focuses on electronic music but you can also find live music and other types of parties.

Quick Guide or "I don't want to think too much about travel and just want to have fun, where should I go?"

The South London Soul Train NYE, 2 Floor, 3 Room Epic with Stone Cold Hustle (Live): This is THE party you want to go. SLST is a legendary London party (still missing those 5 a.m. parties in Bussey Building) London party with both live music and fantastoc DJs. This is probably the one I'll be at with my friends as well.

This year Stone Cold Hustle (a Jazz Cafe and Hoots regular as well) is headlining along with the OG Jazzheadchronic (founder of SLST) as one of the DJs.

Tickets are currently at £15 plus booking fee so it's effectively free for the fun you're going to have.

Paraiso NYE: The Biggest Disco: Are you young? Do you have working knees? If you answered yes to both, Paraiso Disco party is for you. I have been to Paraiso Disco, it's a full vibe,

I mean, even for artihirithic millenials or boomers like me can go to this but Night Tales is very hip and mainly younger crowd without being too freshers week-y.

The cheapest tickets are selling at £9 atm so better grab one fast!

Blues Kitchen Shoreditch NYE: An all time staple, Blues Kitchen. Personally, I love Shoreditch but both Camden and Brixton venues are great as well.

The best live music (soul, funk, Motown) you could find along with great food and reasonably priced drinks. This is the best venue to go in early and enjoy the atmosphere until they clear the stage and dancefloor and sweat your ass off until 3 a.m.

This year the tickets are a bit more expensive (used to be fifteen quid) from £30 to £40 but it will be worth it, I highly recommend booking a restaurant table and having dinner there and chill until the show starts so you don't have to pay £40 just for the tickets.

NYE at Natural History Museum: This one is for mostly tourists that will non stop ask about "a unique experience" but locals might have some fun too.

Essentially, they'll host the NYE party at the Natural History Museum with live music and lots of other fun things to do. It IS a unique experience and looks pretty lit. This, of course, comes with a price tag of £125-200 (only for tickets!) so expect to rack up a bill of £200+

This is not a budget friendly event, but if you're going to propose or need to flex on other white collar friends on Instagram, this would be it.

Gin and Juice Old School Hip-Hop Nye 2024!: For my old school Hip-Hop lover friends (including me), Gin and Juice is an old promoter and their parties pull massive crowds (used to fill out Studio 338 during summer paerties)

Tickets are around £22 right now, which is a steal for the massive party you'll be getting in return

OLD BLUE LAST NYE HOUSE PARTY: This is probably one of my favourite pubs / venues in London by a country mile. OBL is a greta pub with fantastic indie gigs and DJ night. Drinks are very reasonable (I think you could even get a pint under a fiver if you arrive early), the crowd is cool and loves to dance (their motto is "We had so much fun that our roof collapsed on us twice!"

If you want a party you could easily arrive and leave (not everyone is cut out for Peckham Rye Burger King at 4 a.m. on da NYE night), don't pay forty quid for a ticket and be in an actual pub environmental rather than a club, OBL is my recommendation.

💿 GROUND FLOOR: POP/DISCO/INDIE/CLASSICS/80s/90s/00s

💿 FIRST FLOOR: HIPHOP/RNB/AMAPIANO/DANCEHALL/HOUSE/UKG

💿 SECOND FLOOR: KARAOKE+BEER PONG

Tickets are at £9 right now (entry before 10 p.m.) which I will consider free at this point

CLUB METROPOLIS – NEW YEARS EVE EXTRAVAGANZA: Ahh, Metropolis, probably one venue that could make me haul ass from my humble South London shack to the ass end of Bethnal Green (and maybe Coupette, too).

If you have been to Metropolis before, you probably already have the tickets to their NYE party. For the uninitiated, Metropolis is a strip club-cum-music club (not apologizing for that pun) which books some insane talent. Normally a disco heavy venue but this time they're having lots of different types of music spread across four floors (plus they have a terrace).

While not a LGBTQI+ club itself, it's a safe space and very queer friendly. If you see me, a straight guy in his forties, swinging from one of the stripper poles, you didn't!

-5 floors of debauchery and naughtiness inside a transformed East London str!p club (with extended late hours!).
-Special Guest DJs from far and wide serving you no nonsense house, disco & dirty pop goodness on every level, all night long.
-An open-air rooftop view to soak up all the fireworks and ring in 2025 under the stars.

Current ticket release is at TEN EFFIN QUID!, I will not be hearing any of you moaning about London nightlife being expensive (well, at least the entry fees) if you don't buy tickets to this RIGHT NOW!

Fever105's Midnight Funk: Lafayette is once again at it because that lineup is crazy even for someone who's not a DJ music connoisseur. I have watched Dmitri From Paris, Coleen and Shaka Loves You which are worth the tickets on their own.

Lafayette is such a great venue, don't miss out on this one:

EARLY RELEASE AND INITIAL RELEAE ALREADY SOLD OUT! I'm not joking, this will sell out super fast. Grab a ticket at £30 and be thankful for it.

THE REST

Not inferior to the ones above by any metric but I'll be posting these with their own promotions and maybe add a bit information myself instead of full write ups like above.

Archer Street SOHO NYE Ball: If you want to full on dress up, watch amazing singer and have people dancing on top of steel tables try here. Archer Street has Clapham and Notting Hill venues as well but Soho one is where I love the most.

For just £55 per ticket, immerse yourself in elegance with a complimentary glass of champagne and canapés, followed by an all-singing, all-dancing cabaret show featuring our incredible performers. Keep the celebration going in true Archer Street style with epic music from our resident DJ and captivating performances from our talented singers.

Tickets are priced at £55 per person, and we encourage black tie attire for this sophisticated affair.

For some inexplicable reason. Archer Street manages to have the most beautiful women I've every seen in my life and endless supply of dudes that look like models.

New Years Eve Gala Ball (Family): A VERY rare chance to actually go to the super famous Rivoli Ballroom with your children. This is for my peeps who want to go out but have children, this will be super fun family time.

All our nights are usually adult only, 21 years plus but we consider ourselves to be a family place, so we're making New Years Eve a family event. We are inviting adults and children over 6 years old (as long as the children are supervised!). Its a night for the whole family.

DJ Andy Smith sets the party atmosphere with a mix of Rivoli specials - pop, upbeat festive tracks and party classics to say bye bye to 2024 and bring in the new year celebrations.

We want you to have a great time!

The Old Queens Head NYE: The Old Queens Head is another long time favourite oub of mine. They always play great music (mostly classic HipHop) and the pub itself looks amazing when you're drunk (not that I know of)

Their "marketing blurb" gives all the information you need to make sure it will be a lot party:

nye is lowkey the worst night of the year because whether you start planning it in november or leave it to the actual day your plans are always gonna cost a trillion bucks and it’ll usually be a shitty club which you’ve never been to and are only considering because it’s nye so instead of all that faff you should just come to our lovely pub and pay maybe like a normal amount of money to have a really nice time and boogie and maybe even kiss someone

Hootananny NYE: For me, Hoots is the centre of music and good parties in London. They have indoor pub, outdoor beer garden, food stalls, pool tables and drunk uncles trying to hustle you at pool tables.

Oh My God! It's The Church // The holiest band going. They will purge you of your sins and get you to give yourself unto SEXY JESUS! The ultimate all singing, all dancing congregation service!

JFB // 3 x UK DJ Champion and all round turntable wizard

WBBL // Bassline to Drum & Bass, Hip Hop to House, Funk to Punk. Expect massive basslines chunkier than that milk you forgot to throw out last week!

The Future Shape Of Sound // Live Shakedown Gospel & Blues band

X-Ray Ted // Sleazy party funk master and Craig Charles favourite

 Pete Cannon // Jungle & Drum'n'Bass legend

Dan de'Lion (Swing & Bass) // Funky & Swingy bass fuelled beats

White Heat NYE Party: No London night out list could be without The Lexington. White Heat is their famous classic indie night but on a NYE. Another surefire one

NYE is coming and we're taking over the whole of The Lexington for a night of broken resolutions and the best indie, new wave and post-punk party starters, some 80s hits for good measure and our favourite NYE bangers til 4am!

This sells out every year so don't leave it too late to grab your tickets...

Arctic Monkeys // The Killers // Bloc Party // Wet Leg // The Strokes // Fontaines D.C. // Parquet Courts // Madonna // Prince // Sports Team // New Order // Fleetwood Mac // LCD Soundsystem // Bowie // Tame Impala // Ramones // Blondie // Florence and the Machine // The Cure // The Clash // Devo // Joy Division // Nirvana // The Weeknd // White Stripes // Talking Heads // Franz Ferdinand // ABBA // Daft Punk // Eurythmics and loads more

END OF THE LIST FOR NOW, WILL BE UPDATED FREQUENTLY SO KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS THREAD!

Cheap salons in London that specialise in Asian hairstyles?

Hey everyone,

I just moved to London two months ago. I got my fringe cut in Vietnam (I'm a woman btw), but it's growing long now - does anybody know where to cut Korean fringes/bangs that wouldn't cost at least 40 pounds? Technically I could cut them at home, but I don't trust myself with scissors. I just need to trim my bangs, no need to shampoo or blowdry or anything else.

Thank you very much!

We’ve bloody done it.

So for context this guy goes around the UK rating “top restaurants” as suggested by Viewers so naturally had to check out the best steak house.

Good BYOB curry

I no longer live in tooting so Looking for suggestions for a good curry BYOB in central(ish) London for a group of friends.

The group is now all over place (Hammersmith, Oval, Hackney) so trying to find a middle ground for food is proving difficult

Ideally somewhere that isn’t brick lane, been there quite a few times and it’s not that great. It is cheap though which is always a plus.

Stockwell Flute Man.

I was wondering the other day I hadn’t seen the homeless looking gentleman (who was actually the soundest bloke) who used to stand outside Stockwell Tube on the central crossing bit playing the flute in months and months.

Anyone heard anything about him lately?

Moving to London as a commercial/fashion photographer

I’m planning to move to London in 2025 to work in fashion and commercial photography. For those of you already living and working there, is it financially viable? Heres my work www.deanbartolo.com

I know London is expensive, but I’m curious how realistic it is to sustain a career in photography there. Are there enough opportunities to make it work?

Would love any advice or insight about costs, finding clients, or just making a living as a photographer in the city. Thanks in advance!

Why is the TFL cyber incident being downplayed?

TFL contactless website has been partially down for MONTHS now due to a cyber attack (their words not mine). Users can't claim refunds or submit travel expenses and on top of it a lot of users are claiming that they're getting overcharged. It feels strange and a bit downplayed considering TFL has a lot of people bank details...

Helping Londoners Find Better GP Practices

Hi everyone, I have created a website, https://www.nearbygp.co.uk , a non-profit tool designed to help people in London compare GP services using publicly available NHS data.

It's super simple - pop in your postcode, and it will show you which GPs you are eligible to attend based on its catchment area. Each GP is given a performance score (based on NHS data) so you can choose the best one for you.

I want to reiterate that this website is completely free to use, with no advertisements or financial incentives involved—it is purely a community resource. I ultimately created this project to inform people that they are not bound to one GP and that they have the agency to try out various GPs so they can ultimately find one that works for them.

Your favorite map of London or Greater London for wall display…

…which is also commercially available and suitable for framing. Could be either “vintage” or current, just has to be attractive. It’s needed for a Londonphile for Christmas. Thanks!

Where can I dispose of Tefal pans and pots ?

As per the title says, I want to know how to dispose of my Tefal pans and pots. I assume they are not recyclable but it feels wrong to put them in the general trash. Before doing so, checking if I might be making a mistake !

Thank you all

Anyone who lives in the Barbican estate, what is the connection between open and enclosed public/semi public space in the estate?

I'm mostly wondering how does the complex work with the space for public and its residents and the question if inclusivity
Do all residents and visitors feel equally at home in the complex? Or does the divide between private flats and public arts venues subtly reinforce social boundaries within the estate?

CAFÉ/PUB OWNERS IN LONDON!

We are a recently established production company looking to shoot a content series in various café/pub locations around London starting in the new year, with our first shoot date currently set at Friday 3rd January. We are looking for cafes/pubs with traditional or “greasy spoon” ambiences to shoot short-form interviews which parody a “business lunch”. Amongst the planned guests on the show are several successful business owners and content creators/influencers. If you or anybody you know could help us out with this, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Are there community places where someone can just sit and stay during the day?

I’m male and live alone in London. I also work from home most days.

My mental health is poor and I believe that spending a lot of time by myself is exacerbating the problem.

When feeling particularly lonely I often take a book with me to a pub or library, but these aren’t always suitable.

I’m wondering if there are any community facilities where people can just go at times during the day to sit inside and be around others. Places that aren’t specially for younger or older people, since I’m neither. Somewhere to sit and read, have a chat with others, or just be.

Does anyone know of anything along these lines?

Edit: Thank you everyone for the contributions. I’ll have a look at them all and see what might work for me.

Best stadium to visit this weekend?

Hi guys. I will be visiting London this weekend. I want to see a match and the fixtures are:

Crystal Palace v Man City, Selhurst Park

Fulham v Arsenal, Craven Cottage

Spurs v Chelsea, Spurs Stadium

My friend insists on Spurs v Chelsea but I feel like other fixtures will give better and truer PL experience. What are your thoughts?

TFL Customer Service will lie to your face, here's what to do

Called this morning to cancel my annual travel card. "Sorry, call back in a few days, the system is down" (has supposedly been since September; funnily refund services are not the priority).

Did not waste any time and told the dude to escalate this ASAP as I would stay all day if needed. Got through to the next person, £320 refund request completed within 10 minutes.... Absolute joke.

If you call them and are told the system is down, tell them to put it up there.

Who will work minimum wage jobs?

Who will work minimum wage jobs if London rent and travel are so unaffordable? Even moving out of London and commuting doesn't help much, as train fares can drain your wallet.

Minimum-wage jobs aren't limited to hospitality or cleaning. They include roles like care workers, scientists, teaching assistants, nurses, lab technicians, counsellors and hospital staff — roles hard to fill with immigrants.

Are we on the brink of a city collapse?
