Just got off the bus at the bus station and the stench just made me nauseous af
Hi all. I’m considering renting a studio apartment at the large glass bridgewater building it’s super handy due to train station and to my job. Any comments or thought on the area? I’m not from the UK but have seen mixed reviews on it
Ls8 5bs is the postcode.. It does come under Hare hills I believe unfortunately as I've been readimg it's got quite the reputation. Is the South or harehills any better or no? I'm a single mum with a 7 year old special needs daughter. Yes schools and gym and nearby, rent is cheap but would the bigger picture be worth it? Is the transport also slowww on this side? I live in shit hol Spennymoor atm so don't wanna jump from one swamp to another 😅
Hello,
I have visited Leeds twice in the past for the Royal Armouries (the last time was about 16 years ago) but never explored the city itself on both occasions. Therefore thinking of finally visiting Leeds sometime in Winter and was wondering if it has any quirky interesting shops, Alternative, Goth, New Age, Comic, Model, Collector type? I know in my Goth years (2000's) it had a huge Goth scene and apparently had a lot of stalls in the markets and arcades, is this still the case with Leeds?
Thanks
Hi, I'll be attending University of Leeds as a study abroad student during spring semester 2025 (Graphic Design) and am currently looking into accommodation – and trying to get through the vast majority of options
As I'm not from the UK and will no have the option to look at accommodations, I am a bit lost. I'd prefer housing close to university (max of 20min walk if possible) and I do fancy the more victorian aesthetic (since I am only here for one semester I think it is fair to consider aesthetics and possible harry potter flair)
I've looked at Lyddon Hall, Ellerslie and Devonshire (tho Devonshire is quite stretch from the city centre, however the aesthetics – you get the idea). I know they are catered but have no experience with catered halls.
Otherwise I am undecided and overwhelmed with the amount of options. I have no idea which halls are regarded social and which not (I do like social settings, however I would not describe myself as a heavy party person) and which halls have more of a questionable reputation.
Any help would be very much appreciated!
A man in the city centre came up to me outside the bus station, he goes over how he has never touched any drugs yada yada, tells me his life story ykim, then he goes On about a hostel for ten quid i had about 50p in my Monzo and 30p in change so I said I don’t have any money, then he walks to the next guy they say no and he walks past me again and mutters “your the reason I’m not getting a room tonight”. One week later he comes up to me again near macces and asks me the same thing so I said you asked me last week and he walked off dead sheepish looking 😂😂😂😂
Received a mail stating the Merrion Centre Puregym is temporarily closed due to unforeseen circumstances. Any idea why so?
This weekly thread is an opportunity for locally based small businesses / individuals / bands etc. to let your fellow redditors know what you're about and what you have to offer.
You're welcome to link to your website / store-front / social media, but primarily you should be using your comment to engage with the community here as part of the community. Part of that is taking the time to respond to questions people may ask, please keep that in mind.
Since this is currently a new approach we're taking to self-promotion, we don't have a set of rules as such. The existing subreddit rules still apply, and low-effort comments will be removed (e.g. Links with little to no text).

I'm an incoming exchange student going to the Uni of Leeds from Canada next semester, and I'm a bit confused about the dates for the semester and any time off we might have during the semester.
The website states that the Spring semester is from Jan 27th - May 9th, but it also says there is a spring and summer term (Jan 13th to March 28th + April 28th to June 20th)
Which one would apply to when I have classes? If the term dates matter, would that mean we get a month off in April? Is there a spring break (I've heard that the UK usually does that) and when would that be?
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you! It's kind of frustrating that I can't find a more comprehensive list of important dates on their website.
Hey all, im a huge coffee, cake and bagel person. They make me so happy, cant describe.
What are your BEST places to go to, anywhere that allows dogs and not in the city centre
My go to is usually slow rise, bean and gone, caf farsley. What are your recommendations… !?
Happy to venture about
Hey Any advice on shops that would buy 2nd hand products from me, like action figures (pokemon, Super Mario, funko pops) and clothing. Any advice or names would be really appreciated Thank you
Alright you lovely Leeds people.. My step daughter is studying in your fine city and found herself with a problem. Her car needs a clutch and slave cylinder. What I'm looking for is a reliable mechanic that is not going to take the Mick. Somewhere close to Headingley preferably. Many thanks
I’m hoping to find an event for fireworks as I’m still new to the area and am not sure which is the best option. Even if tickets are sold out I don’t mind finding a nice spot to go with some of my mates where I have a nice view of them. Thanks in advance
Hi all. Myself, husband and baby are looking to rent a house in Leeds. We've been in Bristol and London before this and like the areas of Meanwood and Chapel Allerton but wondering if there are other places people like living in as we are don't know the city very well.
Ideally a 40 mins cycle to centre of Leeds Ideally quiet with green space for aforementioned baby Budget 1500 for 3 bed house
Thankyou!
The Great Yorkshire Vegan Festival is coming to South Leeds stadium on November 30th, and I'm thinking of going. Has anyone been to one of these before? If so, how'd you find it? Would you recommend other vegans go? Also, is the VIP ticket (£15 instead of the usual £5) worth it?
There was a bar on the Calls back around 98-2000 that looked like you were in an igloo. What was it called? I'd forgotten all about it and no idea why it came into my head but it's annoying the fuck out of me now.
ellooooo reddit!
In the past, I worked as a postal worker down south for a few years, but only in really rural locations. Will be moving to Leeds at the start of 2025 and wouldn't mind going back to it eventually.
Are there any postal workers here who could tell me what it's like? Any offices specifically to avoid/any that you enjoy working in? Anything else you feel you wanna add?
Thanks 🙏
giving away a train ticket from nottingham to leeds for monday the 4th, plans fell through because i’m sick and i don’t want it to go to waste 💔💔
Hi there! Any good place to watch firework on 4th of November? Im looking for a place where we could park up , chilling in the car and watch firework. Thank you
Cop on, seriously. LS4 RAGE.
Hi everyone, hoping someone can help. My sister (24F) has been suffering badly with acne all over her face. Shes been to the doctors multiple times and each time they prescribe something that doesn't work or effects don't last. As a last resort we are looking for an absolute professional, the best of the best that can help finally rid the acne for good!
Background on my sister, she doesn't drink or smoke, she washes her face with la Roche posay and moisturises with Autoderm and absolutely nothing else goes on her skin. Benzol peroxide causes reactions with her skin. She'd like to avoid roaccutane although this has never been prescribed to her.
Thanks so much
Has anyone tried park playground VR out in Kirkstall? Is it worth the money? It seems to have mixed reviews, I'm looking at ImmotionVR in Xscape too. I wanna take someone for their birthday and don't wanna be disappointed :)
I'm not from here so pardon me if I missed the memo somewhere but is there a reason for all these fireworks? For an entire week all I've been hearing after 6pm is consecutive booms and it never stops. I didn't mind them at first but it's lowkey driving me crazy now, I thought they'd stop at halloween but nope, still going. Does anyone know why?
Hi guys, I am an A level Geography student doing a study on the importance of historic buildings on the regeneration of Leeds Southbank. If you could quickly fill out my questionnaire as any responses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)
Is it just me? There’s a strong smell on the side of Greggs that just hits you in the face when you walk in. It’s been noticeably bad in the last few days, it’s put me off my steak bake multiple times now.
