help?

im not sure if this is an ISTP thing or just a me thing but it takes me forever to realize i could like someone romantically, like years to even consider them in that light.

i tend to flirt a lot without trying or with any real heat behind it until i get put in a oh shit they like me like that situation and feel shitty for accidentally leading someone on and even shittier for ruining a good friendship to let them off easy.

i struggle with seeing how someone could be romantically interested in me so i just waive off any confessions but i dont want to push aside any potential relationships anymore, i just dont want to ruin anything or persue a romantic relationship only to later realize i dont like someone like that. it takes me so long to realize i like someone so im never the one confessing but the moment someone i THINK i could like confesses then i immediately jump to a "lets do this" mindset and it ALWAYS backfires horribly

i have such a skewed vision of romantic and platonic relationships that i cant differentiate between them.

i feel if something ever starts then i can only think about how it will end. it feels safer to never start then to regret dragging someone along.

i guess this is more of a vent/rant but any advice would be appreciated. thanks for reading.

Reddit is basically an INTP’s natural habitat. Where else can you spend hours debating abstract concepts with strangers, questioning reality, and accidentally forgetting to eat?

I’ve been on Reddit for two years, and somehow I’m just now discovering this place. How did I miss this? Feels like I’ve finally found my people!

Is it true that the Stereotypes are distorted?

Is it true that the stereotypes are distorted? For example, the ENTJ stereotype is that they are very driven, forceful, and entrepreneurial. But doesn't this fit ESTP better? From what I've heard, real ENTJs tend to be more geeky and quirky, less 'sensor-like.'

Likewise, doesn't the ESTP stereotype fit ESFP better? Street smart, roguish, independent, action oriented, confrontational, but also charming and good at reading people. That sounds more ESFP than ESTP.

Finally, wouldn't the ESFP stereotype fit ESFJ better? Fun-loving, warm, agreeable, likes to maintain a pleasant atmosphere, conflict avoidant. Sounds like ESFJ to me.

What Does Each Letter Look Like in Personality?

I understand what each different letter means in terms how one perceives the world and such. I'm more curious on how you guys think of the S and N and P and J. To me it's pretty easy to understand when someone is an I or E, or T or F. But how do you think the S, N, P, and/or J affect one's personality particularly? Does it depend on the combination of other traits? Just a thought that came to mind recently.

"Do I really look like that??"

Hello! I'm an INTP, and I've noticed that many, many INTP memes and fanart look like the INTP character hates something whether it be the viewer or whatever character they star in the art with. I never could completely resonate with a character like that, but then, I found what could be the problem with INTP faces across fanart.

There have been plenty of times where I've accidently glared at people. There was this one instant, where I was sitting in a room with a lot of chairs with my friends before a gathering, and they were just talking without me, so I just looked the other way. Just then, two ESTPs entered the room and were heading my way on the opposite side of my friends. I was leaning forward, looking at the first one from the corner of my eye with the most relaxed face that I could possibly make. I was trying to look like I didn't care or was cool or something. Then, I turned away. Immediately, the ESTP cried in a wailing voice, "SHE HATES ME!" causing me to flinch with wide eyes. The other ESTP simply smirked and said, "Yeah, she hates you."

This has lead me to conclude that perhaps INTP fanart is based on a moment in which an INTP is just trying to look normal.

Has anything similar happened to anyone else? 😅

Could I be an asocial ESTP?

Can't seem to notice how I always everytime scored Polr Fi in the trickster test. Never had an issue approaching people but I mainly talk to people if I want something out of it. Could be from wanting to have fun to asking for something useful. Otherwise I don't care enough to waste time. Never afraid to experience things on my own. Intimate relationships lowkey trigger me. I prefer not getting to close for the better or worse. I can read the room quite easily but still be the type to tell the hard truth regardless lol. Yes I value pragmatism.

I'm "more strongly built" compared to other women, hope that makes sense. Whenever I'm with rather introverted people I just don't feel like that's my kind of people. I dont shy away from taking the initiative and actually doing something. My thoughts and ideas are mostly realistic enough to actually make it happen in real life so why bother just thinking about it yk. Love me some good clothing, sneakers, food hehe. I like money too.

All the other cognitive function tests were not as stable as the trickster function test results.

I got so much more to tell but this might be it for now.

Any opinions?

Squid Game Song Ki Hoon MBTI

Does anybody else feel that Song Ki Hoon's (Main Character's) MBTI Type changed from Season 1 to Season 2? In Season 1, he comes across like an ESFP. In Season 2, he seems more like an ISTP.

ENTP turning into ENFP..?

Hey.

I used to be really into MBTI stuff like ten years ago and I was ENTP back then. Now I typed as ENFP. It's hard to release my ex ENTP Tyrinėti Lancaster personna. What is cool about ENFPs? Is this change happens as I mature or its just the way I see myselft at the moment?

A summary of what it really means to be an ISTJ

  • ISTJs as Si dominant have a very clear perception of themselves. These individuals know what they want and the Si+Fi combination makes them have specific, concrete beliefs.
  • They have a very good memory which can be expressed in many different ways ( for example they can have a strong sense of nostalgia or using it to become good scientists)
  • Contrary to what is believed, they have a strong, vivid and detailed fantasy
  • They are aware of the external world and how it works (Te influence here) and
  • They have good organisational skills
  • They are aware of the potential dangers and sometimes they overemphasize on these dangers whih makes them cautious and avoid taking risks (inf Ne)

Is Ti really better then Te?

I mean I heard that Ti is more in depth and cautious and precise, and Te is often seen as the "shallow" function that only trusts facts and never questions them. But I'm not sure if I'm misundersting things and missing things. I know Te is not worse then Ti, just different.

Not talking about any specific political leader, but assuming that two people has the same amount of knowledge, the same values, the same upbringing and influences, and has a firm understanding of political issues. I personally think Ti is more likely to support a isonationalist perspective (although they can support multilateralism as well, as even with the same everything people can still come to different conclusions) as compared to Te. I mean logically some Ti users would insist that multilateralism introduces too many variables and dependencies, making it inefficient or impractical in the long run. A Ti user might argue that relying on alliances or institutions could create unnecessary obligations that limit a nation's autonomy, and they might focus on breaking down each issue individually rather than accepting broad cooperative frameworks. Ti users are more likely to criticize existing frameworks rather then accepting it as it is and just using it. But at the same time history and experience says that isonatoinalist perspectives may sound good on paper but may end up falling apart in practice. So now I was wondering whether or not Te is really useless and we should only use Ti (because people like to shit on Te and elevate Ti because Ti is seen as more acccurate or deep).

Of course sometimes empirical evidence is right, and someone's internal logic could be wrong. Einstein is a example (not comparing anybody to Einstein because most people (and even most politicians, including alot of the smart ones) can not necessarily beat him in intellect. But then Einstein ended up being against Quantum Theory saying that "God does not play dice with the universe". To him the Quantum Theory doesn't make sense as "logical" to him. To Einstein, the idea that the universe operated on probabilities and randomness (as quantum mechanics suggested) didn’t fit with his deep-seated belief in a deterministic universe. His entire way of thinking was built around the idea that nature followed strict, predictable laws. He believed that everything should be governed by clear, causal relationships, much like in classical physics. But quantum mechanics introduced uncertainty at a fundamental level, which clashed with his personal sense of what made "logical" sense. So yeah, even a genius like Einstein, and he's completely wrong (and he's a INTP thus Ti dom).

I mean Te may be "shallow" at first, but Te relies on empirical evidence and experimentation and may become more and more accurate the more Te "plays" with an idea. On the other hand the Ti may start more "accurate" and deep but may end up digging itself down a rabbit hole (and if it's initial premises aren't right, the whole internal framework may have issues). But their are always ideas that look good on paper but is kinda shit in practice, no matter what.

It’s not that Te is useless—it’s just different. If anything, the best decision-making comes from a balance of both. Ti is great for questioning systems and ensuring logical soundness, while Te ensures that ideas actually work in reality. The worst outcomes happen when one function dismisses the other entirely.

But I'm not sure about this, so IDK. Also please don't talk about any specific person.

Practically, what is MBTI useful for?

We all know (well, most of us) that MBTI is at best an old psychology theory, at worst, a baseless pseudoscience. It's kind of stuck in a weird place where it doesn't have enough grounding to be important for life decisions, (re: don't get married, hire people, or choose friends based on MBTI alone.) But at the same time, there's enough truth to MBTI that you can't ignore it.

So what is MBTI good for, if anything?

Is it truly possible to develop your inferior function?

Has any of you done it? I mean, one can develop "fake inf". For example: fake Se where you force yourself to go to parties but still don't enjoy it. Fake Ni: you get interested in philosophy but don't apply it irl. How can one truly develop their inferior function?

Ne doms do you find Si doms attractive?

Wasn’t sure what flair to use. It’s very weird for me even though I’m not attracted to Si doms per say, but after knowing them for a while it’s very easy for me to fall in love, all of the people I’ve dated were Si doms or Si Aux There’s something very comforting about Si people for me, even though I am an Ne dom, Maybe subconsciously I want stability to balance out my flighty, energetic, all over the place nature. I’m curious if older Ne doms, people in their 20s also feel the same way?

How can I, ENFP (F), communicate with an ENTP (M)

It's pretty self explanatory, but dealing with an entp felt, just felt confusing for both of us. And I may or may not have overreacted or understood him wrong which made things...well, awkward.

My friend told me its because our communication styles are different that this mess keeps happening.

Can someone help out if they know any sort of advice?

How is MBTI so accurate?

At least in my experience, the results exactly described my personality. I’ve taken the test a few times over the course of a few years, and each time, I’ve received the same personality type. How do they get so much right with just a couple dozen questions? What’s the science behind it?
