Hi.

Please bear with me, I believe it may be my first time posting in this subreddit, so I hope I am able to do so in a manner that is respectful and considerate of what this community expects. I am currently contending with an internal dilemma (that I’m making more trouble of than it’s worth) about feeling stuck in a “gray area” between Fi and Fe. I feel a lot of my personal confusion revolves a lot of blurry areas and misinterpretation between the theoretical differences of Fi, Fe, my having autism, and being an Enneagram Type 9w1.

The manner in which I do fundamentally believe myself to be a Fi User is that my personal values and ideals are inherently based on what I decide from an individualistic perspective. That being aside, I tend to primarily be in an emotionally *neutral* state of mind (something of personal preference for me too), not necessarily “feeling” much unless an “emotional stimulus” provokes something within me, which might be characteristic of Fe. I also have a more natural inclination for *affective sympathy*, tending to *feel* more easily for people based on more “empirical” expressions of emotion, as well as tending towards sympathy.

That being said, I tend to value a more “Fi stance” about recognizing that people have their own, individual areas of comfort and preference- I may struggle to have a deeply emotional understanding as an autistic person, but I recognize a need for emotional autonomy. While I can concur with the *social harmony* aspect of Fe (such as protecting others from emotional harm and valuing kindness), I prefer to have consistent integrity in my morality, versus changing myself to fit in with others. So, it if isn’t much of an inconvenience, I guess what I ask for is others’ positions, please - is it strange for Fi Users to have Fe traits; can anyone relate?
