I am not looking for any legal advice. I got a lawyer for that. I want to hear about people's experience in that situation.
Long story short, I was in an abusive marriage and I decided for separation 3 years ago.
My lawyer filed the petition for divorce and my (technically still) wife said, she won't divorce me.
I know of the 3 years rule and waiting for a court day.
I wanted to know how's other people's experiences in the court related to this issue.
I recently joined a company and went on a holiday shortly after my first month and as usual, I had my work phone with me, roaming on by mistake, emails kept coming and 14euros per MB was being spent.
Now they’re asking for the 3000 euro bill to be paid back as this was not a “business trip” and I was not expected to be reachable.
Im going insane, I need to get a lawyer but I cannot afford it at all (im being paid well but I havent covered my moving costs yet)
What are my options? I’m not scared to lose my job, but Im scared that I’ll be liable for this bill.
Hi, Everyone
I've been stressing about this topic for a while now. I'm a British citizen and my girlfriend is German, we're currently long-distance and I'm trying to figure out a career path that enables me to move and live in Germany alongside her permanently.
I realize I need to learn the language and I am trying at this. I currently have a level 3 Engineering qualification (college level for comparison) are there any roles you could suggest that I take in order to speed up the process of being with her sooner?
Equally, if you know of any roles that are high in demand that when the time comes to move that I will be highly employable?
Thank you!
I've been contacted by a company called EuroDHL for a job opportunity. However the emails are all from the same person but with different @. Also there are different websites that look the same like eurodhl.site and eurodhl.net. Is this a scam? Or is this a legitimate service/company that works here in Germany?
Edit: I've also uploaded my passport to them in one of their forms is that a mistake? Or should I just block them and it would be fine?
How do you check the legitimacy of a recruitment agency here in Germany? I saw one agency actively recruiting for a certain country but they were not registered as an accredited recruiter from the official migrants office of that country. I also tried searching the company for its registration online but I didn't get any confirmation that they are registered. If they are not legitimate and unregistered, how do you report them?
I'll be traveling to Germany soon and wanted to know the limitations of traveling with food (non animal products). Mostly items like rice and chilli powder. I know these are available in Germany, but as a student I'd like to get some stuff from home for the first couple of months.
I heard there are weight limitations as well. Can someone please guide me on what I can bring and how much of it I can bring?
I have a problem in my apartment: the floor is very humid and has started to break badly. I reported this to my landlord, but she claimed it was due to ventilation. However, this is not true – I have a humidity sensor proving that the room is not humid. Additionally, I used a thermal camera to show that the corner (an external wall of the building) is very cold, and I have sensors on all the windows proving that I ventilate properly.
She said she would come to inspect it, but she has canceled the last five appointments. To be specific: she scheduled an appointment and never showed up – and this has happened five times in a row. Each time, she simply sends a new appointment without any apology and then doesn’t appear again.
I am tired of this and assume she won’t come. I am a freelancer, so every day I take off is a day I don’t earn money. I am planning to request a rent reduction directly, but how should I proceed from here? If she schedules another appointment, can I send her an invoice for the time I take off when she doesn’t show up?
Looked at Telekom tariffs and it shows 19.99/mo but only first 6-8 months. Then it is 60/mo 🤦
I believe there is some witty contract, you cannot break for 24 months.
So the question is - how should I calculate/obtain "real" price it will cost me per month - just add 24 month prices and divide by 12 ? What is better - Telekom, O2, Vodafone? can you move contract when you change your address etc etc. Any hints.
Hey everyone. I hope you guys can give some advise. I’d like to do the ausbulding for anesthesiology technical assistant which I see is 3years but some say one might need an internship before ? So would the route first be nursing ausbulding and then anesthesia? If so how many years would specialization take? Because I wouldn’t want to do 3years nursing and then 3years Ata. Or during the nursing ausb can one choose in the 3rd year anesthesia ? Please correct me if I’m wrong about anything.
Too many bills and payments I had to pay in this year.
What are other solutions to make money in germany instead of your main job.
The main job pays taxes and insurances and rent and internet.
What are other ways to make money
Does anyone else get annoyed when you mention your German to a friend (if your an immigrant in another country) and they just bring Hitler about you and make fun of you calling you a nazi because it makes me angry and I was wondering how other Germans feel when people bring it up?
Hi all, After being laid off, I found a new job and started already, on the first of october. I sent my documents to Ausländerbehörde to inform them of my new job, and they still didn't get back to me. Can I still leave/reenter germany with my blue card? Or I need to wait that Ausländerbehörde send my paper with the new company name?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Dear Reddit users,
As you can see from the title, I need to switch my private health insurance due to financial reasons (I am a an international student and I will graduate in 6-8 months). I live in Germany and my insurance that I currently have will be terminated on 18th December and the one I will switcht to, will start on 1st of January. So, I need to know what could be a problem to stay without insurance for 13 days except the unforeseen accidents ? I will need to extend my residence permit in 9 months and I need to know if this 13 days gap without insurance will make any problem for my residence permit extension ? Is it illegal to stay without insurance for 2 weeks ? Thanks in advance for your replies!
I'm living with my friend in Mainz and we need to choose an electric provider to pay the bills. Which one should we choose? I see lots of people recommending ostrom and entega.
Hi guys. Just wanted to ask if it’s normal to wait over 2 weeks for a contract? I received a message by email that if l accept the offer they make the contract and send it by post but haven’t received anything yet. Anyone had the same experience?
Hello guys, I am writing in order to get informed of what should I do next in regards to my internet connection. I moved in this appartment from 1.10 and after two weeks I initially made an order with Vodafone for Kabel connection. The technician guy that came to my house on agreed appointment said that Kabel connection is not possible in my house and took pictures of all my rooms and kellar. He said that I have to cancel this order(Stornierung) and make a new one for DSL. I called Vodafone, did that and it's been 3 weeks since my next agreed date for tehnical installation is in Prufung? The step after you make an appointment apparently you shoukd get confirmation but I didn't get any. I called Vodafone and the guy said I have to wait, the next appointment is for 4.12 but I still have no confirmation and I think they won't come.I think this is really unprofessional from Vodafone, I am waiting 2 months to get internet, it's a bit crazy. What should I do next, what are my rights? If the technician don't come for next appointment, can I cancel it and go to Telekom? I am really clueless and desperate without internet and I lost my eyesight from sitting hold day on the fucking phone.
Thank you,
I've heard that you can turn these windows into a "winter mode" to create a tighter seal. Does anyone know how to do this on a window in an Altbau? Or do I need to change the seal on the window?
I have submitted the wrong module description letter to the university application. Deadlines are gone now. I can't edit now. Should I mail them with the correct document?? What should I do ?? Please suggest or share if someone faced same issue.
So on 16. Oct I bought something on amazon with a direct debit, but after 3 days I returned it back to them.
After 1 week I got an email and letter saying that I should pay because the direct debit didn't go through, I was confused so I contacted amazon to make things clear that I have returned the thing.
They said "ah okay our mistake, just ignore the emails and letters you don't need to do anything", so I was relieved and go on with my life, but oh dear.
Today I got an Email from Inkasso Riverty, it is said that I owe them 34,07€, even tough the thing only cost like 12,99€, I have tried to contact amazon and they said I need to contact Inkasso.
So I am really confused right now, what should I really do?
Hi all,
I wish I could write this entirely in German, but mein Deutsch ist noch nicht gut! :(
I also apologize in advance in case there are a lot of similar posts, but I couldn't find the answers I need!
I've been living and working in Germany (Hamburg) for over two years now, and I also hold a Blue Card (Blaue Karte).
My girlfriend, who lives in Brazil, will be visiting me for two months. She's a tattoo artist but doesn’t have much money in her bank account. However, I earn a good salary and have enough funds to cover all her expenses while she’s here. I’ve even paid for her flight (round trip).
I’ve heard that I can write a letter stating that I’m hosting her and will financially support her stay, but I haven’t found many details about how to write this letter or what key information it should include.
By the way, when I first came to Germany for a visit (about 30 days), no one asked me how much money I had. I simply mentioned that I had been hired for a job and was visiting while waiting for my work visa.
Could you share some tips? For example:
PS: I also instructed her to create a WISE account with an EURO balance.
I can also transfer money to her account to prove she has the funds as well..
Thanks a lot! <3
Hello German citizens!
I moved out of Berlin recently to pay less rent as I'm a uni student and commute to a nearby train station in a Car. My new place doesn't have a parking spot so I park on the street, just like many other of my neighbors.
Today however I parked in front of a family house, what i thought was far enough from an entrance, mailbox or a driveway (it was about 10-12m). As I got out and started unloading groceries a guy ran out of the house and started screaming at me, that he'll call the police, and that he can't maneuver his car into his driveway if I park there. Since I never seek conflict I smiled, apologized and told him to have a nice evening. He was very angry...
I re-parked and out of curiosity did a brief google search about whether he had the right to call the police and what would they do, were they to actually come.
Was he in the right?
(I moved to Brandenburg region)
Hi. Me and my boyfriend want to move to Germany. We both live in VERY montainous areas (that are isolated and cold; so we like Altena as a place, it's similar to our hometown).
My questions are:
We're Romanian, we picked up German a few months ago, both. We do want to go to uni, but I think we can commute to a close (bigger) city.
How possible is it to find a job without a degree, but some work experience as an 18 year old?
Which is the best german city/area to live in without knowing enough german?
This may be a long shot but, have IBS which is usually triggered by stress so while I can somewhat control it with what I eat I still have very frequent flare ups. There’s been several occasions where I came close to having „accidents“ because it comes on so suddenly and I can’t find a bathroom soon enough. I was in a cafe today and had to throw away what was left of my food because I had to get up so quickly and run to the nearest bathroom and try to scrounge up money to use it. Whenever I’m in a new place it’s worse because I don’t know my surroundings. I’ve asked to use private restrooms before and sometimes I get a yes and sometimes a no. So my question is, is there any type of document/card the doctor can give me that will give me the right to use employee restrooms? Sorry for the TMI🥲
Hi everyone. I got a job offer in Berlin, 2700 Euros net as a engineer. I don't live in Germany right now.
I am 22 years old and I will live alone. I don't have a habit of eating outside. I can cook my own food. I'm thinking of saving money for a while. Is it possible? Can I live comfortably with this salary? Also living in WG house is a not problem for me.
Thank you :)
I was looking through mine and my sister’s old things in my parent’s attic recently and came across a cuddly/plush cat that she had that we both loved when we were younger. It used to have a soundbox thing inside it that played a meowing sound. Unfortunately my mum removed it years ago (battery inside died and never got put back in with a replacement battery - and has now been misplaced). I would love to try and find whatever company this is to see if I could find another one to hear it/maybe purchase a new one for her. But I also want to put a soundbox inside her original one with another meowing sound that sounds as similar to this one as possible. Would be helpful to know what this logo says as it is German and I am unsure because of the font of exactly what it says
I ordered 2 pairs of shoes (total cost €250) and I sent 1 pair back to exchange to smaller size. It arrived to their warehouse on 29th October and then I received an email that it arrived empty, so I sent proof of photos, told them which UPS drop-off I used etc. The store has been refusing to send me a new item nor refund till they figure out with UPS and this is seriously frustrating.
I applied for chargeback to my credit cards but they said it’s tricky because they have to only return me partial amount of money, so I have no clue how long this will take.
I have no experience with lawsuit but this really makes me want to look into it.
Has anyone had similar experience or any advice? (Asking here because I just moved to Germany in October I hope it’s okay)
Hello, I’ve recently moved to Nuremberg and I’d like to improve my language skills and socialize. Is there anyone interested in meeting up to practice speaking, or do you know of any conversation cafes where we could go together?
