I (24m) am solo travelling but meeting friends for 4 days in Bologna. I doubt I will be drinking much and happy to cook my own food. I plan to do some day hikes in places such as Zakopane and Innsbruck, which is why I am there for a few days. From Ljubljana I am doing trips to Lake Bled also. I have a few days left over to make it 2 months, so happy to hear any suggestions.

Hello everyone! Are there any promotions or offers available for purchasing an Interrail pass? Or do you have any information on the usual timing for promotions on Interrail passes? Thanks in advance!
When you book Jungfrau tickets on Jungfrau.ch , it gives an option for first class upgrade from interlaken to grindelwald which is 14 CHF extra on regular ticket. When interrail discount is chosen, it gives you first class ticket s at 0 CHF extra. Is it a bug on the website ?
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for advice on planning an Interrail trip in early June. For background - I’m American, I currently live in Spain, and want to focus on Eastern Europe. I’ve already visited Vienna and Budapest so would like to skip over those locations.
I was an au pair years ago in Paris, so I’ll be starting my Interrail there after flying from Alicante and enjoying old friends for a few days. I want to do either Nice or Prague next, both of which are very long trips. Any advice on places to stop and visit in between for a few days? From there, I want to do Ljubljana, Zagreb, Split and maybe Dubrovnik?
Definitely want to see lake Bled. Don’t want to stop in Munich (planning to visit for Oktoberfest in September), and also considering Albania. Help!! I welcome any and all advice! Any must see places? Any I should skip over? Will be traveling for 3ish weeks after I leave Paris.
Thanks in advance!!

I am looking to get a pass in first class for my family to travel to France. Is the pass plus the reservation fees for the seats in the train all that it will cost me travel wise? Does the price change depending on the season? We are looking to go in June. I'm a bit confused as some people say I shouldn't go in the summer because it will cost me more, but how would that be if there's a fixed fee for the pass?
Hi guys,
I am currently trying to make the last seat reservations for my interrail trip. Is there any way to book seat reservations for this departure?
I have tried through MAV, but even when i apply the interrail pass as a discount, it does not subtract the cost of the ticket and it seems impossible to only book seats. Then I tried through oebbtickets.at and here the tickets are listed as "unavailable". Is there any other way to book the seats - booking through the interrail app is not an option because we leave our country, Denmark, on the 18th of April and the seat reservations only can be booked as a paper ticket, which will be sent to our home.
So, I’ll be travelling to France in July and I had initially looked into flights but they’re ridiculously expensive. And I’d still have to take a train even if I flew, so why not look into taking trains the whole way instead? An interrail trip in itself will also be an experience. 😉 However, I’m unsure if it makes sense to get an interrail pass (4 days in 1 month) as I’m almost set on my dates and I don’t know if it will be cheaper than buying tickets myself. I’m planning to go as follows: Day 1 Denmark -> Hamburg Hamburg -> Basel (night train) Day 2 Basel -> Mulhouse Mulhouse -> Avignon (perhaps an additional stop but I’m not sure about that)
So from what I can see, I’ve got just over an hour from the night train arrives to catch the train to Mulhouse. Which is a bit risky as I’ve heard that night trains often get delayed en route and in which case, an interrail pass might be an advantage because I could take a later train?
I looked into prices last night and it looks like the night train is somewhere between 60-170€ for the couchette (and about 30-85 with an interrail pass). TGV between Mulhouse and Avignon is about 75€. And when looking that those prices, it looks like the interrail pass would be cheaper as I also have to go back home about two weeks later (might take a different route as it appears there are no available night trains end of July). I’m aware that I have to pay separately for seat reservations which of course would add to the interrail pass price
Hi!
I'm trying to book onward journey from the Bernina Express to Venice, but each of TrenNord, TrenItalian, Bahn.de, and Google Maps, say it's an impossible journey / no tickets.
Just wondering - from clicking onwards from today on Trenord, I see they cut off 2 months from today (8th April; anything from 9th June onwards is empty). I've checked their news site and can't see service issues affecting Tirano for the summer.
Is this a 2mo cutoff for Trenord journeys, or is there possible some track closure that we can't see?
Thanks!
Do you book accommodation beforehand or do you have a general idea of where and book a few days in advance or day before?
I plan to do a ~2month solo travel around Europe next year.
This is my raw plan, open to adjustments:
Paris>Brussels>Rotterdam>Cologne> Hamburg>Copenhagen/Malmo>Berlin>Prague >Krakow>Bratislava>Vienna>Budapest> Zagreb>Ljubljana>Munich>Zurich>Lyon> Madrid>Valencia>Malaga>Seville>Lisbon> Porto>Bilbao>Home.
So 25 locations, planning to stay 2-3 days. I wonder if I should do the Spain/Portugal segment as a different trip? As I am doing this with places like Greece/Italy. Also I want to visit Estonia but wonder if it's feasible.
I'm open to secret treasures that may fit along the way.
I'm touring all throughout Europe and got a 10 day 2 month Eurail pass. My understanding is that Eurail is a 3rd party company and I can book trains from their app but still need to pay for seat reservations depending on which train it is.
I think Trainline.com is also a 3rd party company but if I buy from them, do I still need to book a seat reservation also? Or if I book directly with the actual train company ie Trenta Italia, do I still have to book a seat reservation separately?
I'm asking because 1 of my 10 trips is from Rome to Napoli which is a short distance compared to all my other train rides. I'm kind of freestylin the last month of my trip. Anyways, if I book Rome to Napoli on Eurail, I need to also book the seat reservation which costs 20 euros. But I see this same trip on trainline.com for only 13 to 19 euros.
Wouldn't it be better to keep my options open and just book this via trainline in case I want to make an additional trip using my Eurail pass?
hi everyone - i’m looking to book a paris —> nice overnight train trip for one night in june. there’s four of us traveling so I originally wanted to do a first class coachette and was willing to pay a bit more but it seems like that would cost over $1,000 USD total. our other option is to book six tickets in a second class coachette which is also pretty pricy and there’s only four of us…my question is, are these prices usually standard for booking 2+ months in advance? should I give up entirely or risk just booking four tickets and having other people potentially in the car?
Going on a 4 week trip, starting in Amsterdam finishing in split, what should I bring
Hi!
So I have a Eurrail pass for an upcoming trip, and I am trying to book a Euronight sleeper train (with the deluxe sleeper).
Specifically, I am looking for the Prague-Zurich route on July 20 which leaves at 18:28 and arrives at 9:05 the next day.
When I do it through the SBB website, it tells me that there are no longer any tickets available for this connection that I've selected, and suggests alternative routes "through our partner railways". Are tickets actually already sold out? Or have they just not started selling them yet and this is the message it gives?
In other words, should I start looking for flight options or just wait on these?
Thanks!!
Hi! First time interailling and am confused whether I need a reservation for this train.
Thanks for answering my dumb question
Hello! I'm in the process of booking all the trains for my journey and I have a small question about reservations. I understand that for some legs of the journey and in some countries it is required or heavily recommended to reserve a seat. But on legs where I don't need to, is that just it? I just hop on the train? And also if I get on a train with no reservation and it is busy, what happens? Can I remain on the train but just standing or sitting on the floor?
I can give specific location examples if that is helpful. Thank you so much!
Hello, so I'm leaving next friday with a 2 months / 15 days of travel Global Pass to visit the main EU towns north of France (which I'm from), from Brussels to Scandinavia and Germany.
Departing from Marseille on April 12, I'll be staying in each city 4 nights each:
Then I'm off to Paris on May 22.
The focus being on evaluating how livable each of these cities is to me so that after the trip I can find an english speaking job (or simply french in Brussels) and live there, hence the focus on the one or two biggest cities in each country.
I plan to... not plan too much :D just wander in each of these places, maybe rent a bike sometimes to see if I can see myself live there. Having lived in Marseille for 9 years, I'm looking for a place with a bit of nature, bike paths and good public transportation :)
Is 3 days of visiting in each enough for that?
Any city that seems too big and deserves more than 3 days for what I'm going to do?
Or on the contrary should I spend less time in some areas to focus on towns I have not considered yet?
For example I've heard Germany is pretty decentralized compared to France and going only to Hamburg and Berlin might be a bit narrow-minded, as finding an english speaking job might be possible in other cities.
The Netherlands too are somewhat particular in that regard.
All of that knowing I must be in Paris on May 25.
Also If I stay on this itinerary I'll have 4 days of travel left. How would you advise I use them afterwards knowing the final destination is Marseille? (I do know when I get to Paris I will be using the "back to country of origin" travel day)
I am planning to use interrail to travel from Utrecht Centraal (the Netherlands) to Bari (Italy) for a course I am taking near Bari. I would have to chance trains avout 3/4 times and some trains have less than an hour in between them. I am a little worries I might miss one of the trains if one is delayed and since you have to book your seats It could cause some trouble? Anyone got any experience or advice? Should I just trust the railway system and hope for the best, or should I try to purpously book later trains so I have more time in between them? Thanks in advance!
Hi, with an Interrail pass can I just get on any trains in Europe, or is it only Eurorail and also when you book your seat reservation do you activate a day of travelling in advance or do you activate it on the day?
Any help would be great thanks.
Route: Assen - Prague - (Bratislava) - Budapest - Ljubljana - Venice - Milan - Bern - Assen.
The pass where you can use a train 7 days would be good for this trip right?
Does anybody have recommendations to see or maybe change about this route? Its my first time interrailing, all the help would be appreciated!
Hi guys! I’m doing my first Interail and I’m stuck at Barcelona. The trains from Barcelona to Paris are not able to be booked at Barcelona main train station. Do you have alternative routes to get from Barcelona to Paris?
Thanks! 🙌🏻
Hi, I'm from the UK and looking at travelling through Europe this summer, which also includes a couple of countries like Hungary, Poland, and possibly Denmark which don't use the Euro. I've been looking at different banking accounts/apps for this and have found a few which offer cheap exchange rates etc when using your card, but are still in £.
I'd rather have a multicurrency account to help make spending and budgeting easier, but the only one I have found is revolut which allows you to have multiple currencies but has more charges, so I'm wondering what other people have done and what companies they've used to get a better idea of what else might be out there.
Thanks in advance.
Hi - currently interrailing round Europe having a ball. Coming to the end of our trio and just got this email. We're a family of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids under 10) - we've looked at alternatives to try and avoid a 3am change with kids and the initial 6 hours train that isn't a sleeper but we can't make it work so I think we are stuck with the ICE train and a change onto our original train around 3am.
The email says our current tickets are valid on this line but I'm assuming we won't have reservations? Any tips on booking reservations on this service?
Hi!
So, I bought a Eurrail pass for an upcoming visit to Europe this summer, and I'm a bit confused on the seat reservation process. One of our trains (from Copenhagen to Hamburg) requires a seat reservation in advance. I did this through the DB website instead of the Eurail website since it was much cheaper. They sent me a pdf of the seat reservation, but it doesn't really have a QR code or anything on it. Just my name, the seats, and a confirmation number.
My question is, when I'm on board the train, what do I show the ticket inspector? I know that I show the QR code in the Rail Planner app for the ticket, but for the seat reservation do I just need to show this pdf? Does it need to be integrated with the app in some way or is it okay on its own?
One more thing, do I need to print out the seat reservation, or is it fine if it's on my phone?
Thanks for the help!!
Hi! Does anybody know how to book a ticket online for a Regiojet train? I keep trying, however my credit card payment through the UPay Portal isn't working.
Hello, I have a eurail pass and am looking to use a few trains in Spain. I understand you need to do the reservations in person and I have another friend I will be travelling with. My inquiry is will I be able to purchase her seat reservation for her when I book mine or will she have to do it herself?
I also have a family member traveling in Spain at the moment. Will they be able to purchase mine and her reservation? Thanks for all help!
Edit: spelling
Hello. I am making a trip around Europe with friends. We have a Eurorail pass and got tickets for the trips. On the app the trip shows a ticket but says "limited seats, seat reservations required." There is no option to reserve the seats. I'm a little nervous about this, what can we do to secure a seat. This is for london to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to berlin, and berlin to prague. Thank you so much!
Hi I am planning our honeymoon for this fall, I have done research and think this is not too rushed and doable but I have never taken long distance trains in Europe and want to see what you guys think. The total cost of this trip for two would be ~$750 USD and if we splurge for 1st class ~$930 USD. How can I check the price compared to booking individual trains? We are going in the late fall.
Fly into Munich - 5 days
Train to Salzburg - 4 days
Train to Venice - 2 days (can add more if needed)
Train to Florence - 4 days
Train to Rome- 7 days
Fly to Lisbon - 3 days (have visited before)
Train to Porto - 4 days (have visited before)
Train to Lisbon - 2 days
Fly home
I can add extra days or change my schedule around if you guys think this is too rushed. Any advice helps!!
