While trying to book through obb's official website, I found that no matter the date and time, only these three seats are available for business class.
Am I missing something obvious, or is there a reason?

Hi everybody, so happy to have found this sub!
I have been planning for a week or two now for may 2025 and i cant seem to figure out a good route.
So far I have (as shown in attachment): Amsterdam > Dresden > Wroclaw > Krakow > Vienna > Budapest > Graz > Bled > Trieste > Rome > Interlaken > Annecy > Montpellier > Bordeaux > Paris > Amsterdam
The main issue I'm struggling with is that I dont want to go on any planes, so no matter what i need to be heading back towards Amsterdam in the end. Currently I'm pretty certain about the route up until Annecy.
All suggestions on how to continue from Annecy are welcome! (Also alternatives for Trieste and Interlaken are welcome)
This group is so helpful and informative, I am hoping you can do a member a good turn and answer a few questions that are really worrying me. I looked in the wiki, online, and even tried chatting Eurail and cannot find the answers (I full appreciate that this might just be me being a bit thick or not fully understanding the resources available, so apologies in advance and hoping you can give a confused future-traveler some grace).
I have purchased the global pass (5 days within one month), and within the Trip Planner app I have plotted my desired journeys: Turin-Milan, two trips within Belgium, and a reserved ticket for AMS-LON. I need to book Antwerp-AMS.
My questions:
Thanks in advance, I appreciate everyone who can take the time to answer!
Hi all, I’m interested in using a night train in Norway/ Sweden, but I’m curious as I don’t know how it would work.
I presume you can use the pass on the train but that would be just for a normal seat, but if I want my own bed how dose that work and dose it mean I need to shell out £100+ for that or dose it come with a discount having a 1st class pass? TIA
I’m planning to visit Italy in December, and I’d love to take the Bernina Express trip. I've come across a lot of information while researching, so I have a few questions I hope you can help me with:
Thank you in advance for your help!
Has anyone recently booked the ÖBB EuroNight train from Zurich to Budapest around mid-December?
I'm trying to book this route for dates after December 14, 2024, but every date shows as 'booked up' on the ÖBB website. I checked various dates, but all seem unavailable. Does anyone know if this route is genuinely fully booked, or are there limited releases for night train tickets closer to the travel date
There is currently severe flooding (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/30/spain-floods-torrential-rain-deaths) in Spain is leading to widespread disruption and cancellations with some lines being completely closed. With the Valencia area being particularly affected.
The Rail Planner app is not updated with such short notice changes.
A list of the current (morning 30th October) can be found at: https://x.com/transportesgob/status/1851580934421708893
As of that update following high speed services are currently suspended:
Valencia-Madrid
Valencia-Barcelona
And the following medium distance lines are currently suspended:
Valencia-Alicante-Murcia
Valencia-Albacete-Alcázar de San Juan
Valencia-Teruel-Zaragoza
This post will not be kept upto date - if you are going to attempt to travel make sure to confirm the current situation with the train company.

Hey everyone.
We’re on our last leg of our Interrail journey, and wondering if the final part is possible this time of the year.
We have a Interrail Global pass, we want to get from Bari to Rhodes by ferry/train. The rough route is; Bari to Patras via ferry Patras to Athens via train/bus/blabla Athens (Piraeus) to Rhodes via ferry
All these routes appear open when I search for them but I know that information can sometimes not be very reliable. I also thought originally you can use the global pass for ferry days but appears you need a greece ferry pass. Would it be cheaper to buy a pass than the cost of the 2 separate ferries? And if people have any recommendations, we would appreciate the input.
Cheers.
I was planning on rounding out my Scandinavia trip by taking a ferry from Narvik down to Bodø and then the train to Trondheim. However with the derailment last week the route is now closed for the foreseeable future. No replacement busses show on the rail planner app and it doesn’t even show the rail closure. Anyone have advice on what I should do? I still have about a week before I arrive in Bodø. I also would just need to get down to Mosjøen as trains run south still from there. Thanks
hi. i have a schengen visa appointment tomorrow, and they ask me to bring my transportation documents with me as well. i printed some of the bus rides i will take along the way, and a train ticket. but im having trouble for my other 6 train rides.
whenever i try to select a date past 15 december, it says "Sorry we don’t have train times for these dates yet". how can i book them? my rides will be
Munich to Zurich, 16.12.2024
Zurich to Geneva, 18.12.2024
Geneva to Luxembourg, 20.12.2024
Luxembourg to Paris, 22.12.2024

I'm planning a 2 months vacations in Europe, and I want to do some bikepacking routes across the continent
Do you recommend to buy the interrail pass?
My husband and I are planning a backpacking trip in Europe, starting Norway, going to multiple countries over a couple of months. Is it worth it to get a global pass? We will not be renting a car. Thanks!
So, i already made a Post, but some things are still not entirely clear to me yet... what i figured out so far, changing alot is most likely pretty bad because its time consuming, and with each change you are at risk of missing a train, which messes up all the follow up connections. So the best connections are probably between larger cities, also the fastest usualyl. I am planning to go from Vienna to Amsterdam on my first travel day. Then from Amsterdam to Paris on day 2. From Paris to Barcelona on day 3. From Barcelona to Seville on Travelday 4.
That is basically the rough layout of my planning.
Now what I do ask myself. How does this exactly work now?
From what i understood is the process like that:
- I purchase the Month ticket with 4 Travel days
- I activate the 1 Month ticket.
- I look up train connections from Vienna to Amsterdam for day one(either through the app or on the train websites)
- If its from other train websites i have to enter the destination manually in the app(i have to change train in frankfurt for example, but as far as i understood it changing is allowed in that 24 hour timewindow as long as its on the route I have entered in the app)
- now on the day I travel from vienna to amsterdam, I activate that first day ticket and I can hop onto those trains.
-When travelling to paris, I'll do the same, enter train/route and activate 2nd travel day.
Now the questions i do have left is:
Reservations. How do i make reservations on the rail company websites without buying a ticket? is that possible? How does the ticket guy know i made a reservation lol.
Also there is 1st and 2nd class Interrail tickets, does that mean i can go 1st class on any train on the route when i purchase 1st class?
What if i missed a train i intended to change to in order to get to my destination, and there is none going again on that travel day. Am I allowed to make a detour to some nearby city where there is a connection with which i can go to the destination?
Also Those who already did it, what do you highly recommend for Interrail travel? Things i should be aware of, tipps or tricks etc... whatever you think that helps me doing this trip would be awesome.
Hi all,
We're travelling on the Bernina Express and already have tickets and reservations for the 2nd class panoramic coaches.
Was wondering if passengers can move freely between the panoramic coaches and the Allegra units during the trip? Was thinking of popping over to the Allegra to take photos and stuff, and then return to our 2nd class panoramic seats.
Thanks!
Hello guys, I will be travelling to Liverpool soon and I would like to know which one is the best way to go from the Airport to the city itself, I've seen there is a bus (line 500) but I can't see the ticket price/where to get it anywhere. I was thinking about BlaBlaCar, I've seen there is a train around there too but can't really find too much information around, we want to go as cheap as possible. Our plane lands at 22:35 (UK time). Any help would be appreciated.
Also, any suggestion on what to see or where to party around is accepted :)
Hey I've made a video about my European interrail this summer. It's going to have 3 parts as i massively overfilmed, but here's part 1 if you're interested: https://youtu.be/Ni3CYoPzIBE?si=zXYHDZuglJ5HTX6x
Our route:
Kotor (montenegro)
Dubrovnik (croatia)
Ljubljana & Bled (slovenia)
Venice, Milan & Como (italy)
Interlaken & Zurich (switzerland)
Munich (germany)
Prague (czechia)
We didn't use an interrail pass as there wasn't available routes for all of our journey. We used a mixture of local trains and flix buses. Happy to answer any interrail questions or specifics about my trip
So Venice looks like my last stop before heading back to Berlin.
I have used my inward and outward journey so was thinking of getting to vienna or prague then jumping on a bus.
I looked at the nightjet traveling tonight but it’s way way over what i can afford.
So I’ll probably go to a campsite outside Venice this evening and get a train tomorrow - probably the RJ132 at 9.56
When i was looking at the nightjet there was a lot of warnings about delays /buses traveling through austria. Does anyone know if this affects day trains specifically the rj132
Ive not paid a supplement before- how do i find out how much these cost please?
Hello everyone, I want to travel in April from Barcelona to Paris by train but I have not found many alternatives. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance
Soo, i'd like to go from Vienna to Lisboa in portugal and then back again by train. But I have no idea how this works, like I buy an Interrail ticket, for at least 4 Travel days i guess(thats what i'd assume it'd take me at LEAST to lissabon and back again, probably 1 or 2 more). I might make a stop inbetween somewhere or 2, but the main issue is, What route am i supposed to take? what is the fastest route? are there some tools for this to see which trains i should take?(i don't want to end up on some regional train that is very slow and i basically waste a travel day) also can i use Every train? how does it work with night trains? i'd love to try one of those trains where you can sleep inside but again, How does this work? can i just hop into any train and i do not have to pay when i get controlled?
Every advice/tips and tricks you can give me is welcome.
Hello everyone
I'm currently planing a 3 month interrail trip for next summer. I will start in Zurich Switzerland.
Do you have any tips for traveling or places I need to visit?
Thank you for your tips!!!
Hi everyone! I am looking to take the rail starting in Paris and then going to Amsterdam-Berlin-(somewhere in Austria?)-Munich- and then end in Venice.
So my questions are…
Thanks for any help!
Hello,
I received an e-mail from OBB that there is a change on my journey from Wien Hbf > Budapest Keleti on 17.11.24.
The original tickets we booked were Sparschiene tickets on RJX 65 departing at 15:40.
When I checked the updated timetable, the train has changed to RJX 12065 though with the same departure/arrival time.
In this case are our tickets still valid? What about the seat reservations? Or do we need to re-book the new train?
Thanks for your help, this is my first time travelling in Europe so a bit confused.
My boyfriend and I thought it would be fun to travel on a InterCity notte train from Rome to Milan so we could take the Bernina express from Tirano the next afternoon.
So, the train arrived and we entered our couchette cabin (the mixed 4 bed kind). The two other passengers were on their beds. However, to our surprise, there was also an additional fifth stranger, a man who was sitting on OUR bed. (This man smelled really foul, it's the first time I've smelled something like that.) After we noticed him, he quickly got up and moved to sit next to another passenger, a bald Italian man, who was also sitting on his own couchette. The two sat next to each other for several minutes - we even though they knew each other.
The stranger started acting weird, sitting on the floor, pretending that he wasn't really there, etc. Feeling uncomfortable, my boyfriend left the cabin to call an attendant, and when he did, this man immediately hid under our bunk bed. The inspector arrived, caught the man, and removed him. It was really stressing because the inspector didn't understand what the problem was until we pointed under the bed. It turns out the man was there illegally. We were then all relocated to a new cabin together with the other passengers.
However, we’re feeling anxious because the Italian man seems really upset with us ever since we called the inspector. He glares at us and just seems angry in general. We're worried he might be an accomplice of some kind since he allowed the stranger to sit next to him for so long without calling for help himself? I know I definitely would have alerted someone if a stranger tried to sit on my bed.
I’m trying to sleep but I feel quite anxious about the situation. It’s our first time traveling like this, so it's all new to us and we sense danger everywhere. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Does this kind of thing just happen regularly on these trains? Or am I just overreacting?
Me and 3 friends (all 18yo girls) are planning to spend 3 to 3 1/2 weeks travelling around Europe this July.
It's our first time interrailing and we'd like to see as much as possible as well as the popular destinations. Our priorities are good nightlife, history/art and architecture. Currently our route is as follows: London - Amsterdam - Berlin - Prague - Budapest - Vienna - Venice - Florence - Milan - Barcelona - Paris - London.
Is this route feesable or are we being too ambitious? We'd get the 10 travel days in 2 months pass and break it up by flying from Milan - Barcelona. We'd take the night train from Vienna to Venice. Currently looking to spend 2-3 nights in each city with a 1 night stop in Venice and maybe Paris. Also considering day trip to Como.
If too much, what would you reccomend as an alternative?
Planning on doing 6 weeks away, what should my rough budget be? aiming to spend around a week and a half in Amsterdam, Berlin and Paris, and then around 3.5 weeks in the Balkans, before 2 weeks in Italy.
One stretch of our trip we are planning to go down the coast of croatia. We are starting in Piran (slovenia) and then down to Dubrovnik, but are hoping to spend a day or two in a town between the them. Hoping to find a town that's easy to explore/enjoy without having to spend a lot of money. Also, are there trains to Dubrovnik? My trip planner is telling me there aren't any.
Berlin: 3 nights Giethoorn: 2 nights (rented a car and drove here from Amsterdam) Amsterdam: 2 nights Munich: 3 nights Zurich: 3 nights Luzerne: 2 nights Interlaken: 1 night Zermatt: 4 nights Milan: 2 nights (Milan > Florence separate ticket) Florence: 3 nights (Florence > Rome separate ticket) Rome: 3 nights Venice: 3 nights Vienna: 2 nights Prague: 2 nights Berlin Airport: 1 night
Eurail pass 2 months validity with 10 travel days
Interesting experiences:
Currently getting on the plane. Will be happy to answer any questions about planning, experience, cost, or anything you might be curious about! ☺️
I see on the DB app that I can add a stopover for up to 48 hours. If I booked two travel days’ seat reservations in one go, I only have to pay the reservation fee once. Is this ‘loophole’ completely fine? Or will it not work/I get in trouble?
Example: on Monday, travel from Amsterdam to Berlin. Stay 2 nights in Berlin. On Wednesday, travel from Berlin to Vienna
