I just figured to share my experience here as I'm unfortunately currently in a not very good state, I can't complain but this definitely not how I envisioned it to go like.

I was a medicine student in Ukraine and I've already graduated, I had to leave Ukraine cuz of the war that was ongoing, I eventually found myself in Aachen.

I've been here for 2 years now, first of all I'm grateful to be here and it's definitely safer and better than my original country, and anyway, I tend to connect better with people from Europe rather than my own country.

I was expecting my journey here to be very exciting and I had so many plans on how to do it, but unfortunately it's mostly depressing and saddening.

I'm not allowed to work, study or even attend a language course, and I haven't gotten an ID card yet too.

Ukrainians have all these benefits, people with Ukranian passports too, but since I am from Iraq, this is how the treatment is.

I'm not really sure what to do, the case worker people tell me that I'm in a "parking position" and I'm like yeah, I can feel it too.

In terms of money, since January I've been receiving money monthly from the city, but these benefits are stopping next month anyway and this just adds another layer of stress.

I'd love some ideas, advice, your point of views, I'm pretty lost but I keep my head up and try to stay positive.

My husband is going to study in RWTH, i would like to go with him (i have home office job) but it was advised to us to check if Aachen accepts family visa if the person going is a student, they said some cities only accept this visa for workers, does anyone knows if it is possible to get family visa for student?

Moin, komme vom Dorf und hab mich neulich daran erinnert, dass ich als Kind mit meiner Mutter selber oft auf dem Feld Erdbeeren gepflückt habe…kennt hier jemand nen Bauern rund um Aachen wo man das machen kann?

Hallo, ich habe folgendes Problem. Seit fast 3 Monate jetzt finden Kernsanierungsarbeiten (das Haus wird also bis auf die Basisstruktur total renoviert) im Mehrfamilienhaus (10 Wohnungen) neben mir statt. Das Problem ist (oder vielleicht ein von den Problemen) dass, obwohl ich gelesen habe, dass Nachbarn vom gleichen Haus nach 3 Monaten eine Mietminderung verlangen können, ich offiziell nicht als Nachbar zähle, trotz der Tatsache das die beiden Mehrfamilienhäuser "verbunden" sind, und meine Wohnung genau zu den Wohnungen gehört, die das andere Mehrfamilienhaus berühren (auch wenn ich 10 Meter daneben wohnen würde, würde das auch keinen Unterschied machen aber jetzt ist das Problem noch größer).
Ich habe auch die Firma kontaktiert, die die Arbeiten macht, und sie haben mir gesagt, dass das Ganze mindestens bis Ende des Jahres dauern wird (!) Ich arbeite Teilzeit gerade, verbringe also einen großen Teil von meinen Morgen und Mittags zu Hause, und ich kann mir vorstellen, dass ich in unserem Mehrfamilienhaus nicht der einzige bin (es hat auch ungefähr 10 Wohnungen), der sich in der gleichen Situation befindet.
Meine Frage ist folgende: Gibt es etwas, was ich machen kann? Ich habe gedacht, ein Schallpegelmessgerät zu kaufen, weil das sich die Mehrheit der Zeit deutlich höher als 50-55 dB fühlt. Oder soll ich einfach wie ein Opfer warten, bis das ganze zu Ende kommt? (wenn man von der Geschichte anderer Baustellen in Aachen denkt, bin ich mir gar nicht sicher, dass das Ende 2024 fertig sein wird) Ich würde es komisch finden, wenn man überhaupt nichts machen könnte.

Am 13. Mai 2024 hat irgendein Creepy Typ in der Aachener Innenstadt sich einfach vor eine Kollegin gestellt und Sie direkt ins Gesicht fotografiert. Er hat sein Handy direkt auf sie gerichtet und eins oder mehrere fotos von Ihr gemacht. Ich habe keine Ahnung wie der Typ aussieht oder wer Er ist. Wenn jemanden so etwas auch schon in der Aachener Innenstadt passiert ist oder jemand aogar weiß wer es sein könnte bitte einmal dazu was Schreiben. Es nervt mich extrem, dass solche Menschen einfach tun und lassen was sie wollen und denken die kommen mit allem davon!

Hello, our student organisation is planning to hold a Sportfest around October, however we are having trouble getting a place that is suitable. Some things to know are that we're registered in RWTH as an e.V. We are also an Unterglied of a Verein based in München, though not officially on paper, as we'restill considering whether we should just register ourselves in NRW or not. We are looking for something like Citta Fit in Vaals, but preferably in Germany, in Aachen or nearby with good public transport. We hope to also be able to hold a Food Festival to sell several foods from our country. Sports that we are planning to hold are Basketball, Futsal, Badminton, and Volley. It would be great if we could get something like a 3-fach Sporthalle, or have them in the same complex.

Several places that we've contacted/surveyed with problems we have:

• Neuköllner: registration can only be done at the end of June, which is way too late for us to plan. The contact person also said that it's also like that for all city-owned/managed Sporthalle. Also doesn't have badminton net, but that can be fixed by holding the Badminton at Tivoli.

• Citta Fit: We cannot hold a Food Festival and it's outside of Germany, causing it to be difficult to get funding from our embassy. It's also not great for basketball because the ring is different.

• Eckertweg: Horrible for spectators.

ich zahle aktuell knapp 33€ für meinen Internetvertrag bei vodafone (100 MBit download und 10 Mbit upload). Habe mich da lange nicht mehr informiert, vergleichsportale wie verivox und check24 zeigen allerdings jeweils nicht alles an bzw verschleiern die echten kosten mit irgendwelchen dämlichen cashbacks...

Welchen Vertrag habt ihr gerade und was zahlt ihr so?

Ich habe vor kurzem wieder angefangen zu skaten, wohne aber noch nicht sehr lange in Aachen. Ich kenne also noch nicht sehr viele Spots zum skaten.

In den meisten Skateparks hier ist nicht viel Flat Fläche oder es ist zu viel los um ordentlich flat zu trainieren. In den meisten Parkhäusern ist der Boden entweder schlecht oder man wird von der Security rausgeschmissen.

Hey guys, so I live in a place where on one side it's a bit open and as a result, I can easily hear stuff from a couple of buildings away. The people in one of these buildings, have late night parties where they talk extremely loud till pretty late in the night (they're doing it right now as well and it's 1:30 AM on a Sunday!). The thing is, the building is a bit far for me to actually shout at them and tbh, I can't even see any of them. I can just see the lights in their backyard. What are my options here?

What can I do? I lost my job and now I need to apply for a job seeking visa since my visa is running out of time.

I saw a gang of turkish teengers with Galatasaray jerseys stalking women around Aquis plaza and elisenbrunnen . One of them was arrested by the police while they were at aquis plaza . They didn’t even seem to be bothered about it . I decided to follow them out of curiosity. Guten Tag, Ich werde diesen Sommer nach Aachen ziehen und hatte diese Woche eine Wohnungsbesichtigung und einen Besuch bei der Bank. Die Dame vor Ort informierte mich über gewisse Versicherungen und teilte mir mit, dass es in Aachen vergleichsweise häufig zu Einbrüchen kommt. Sie selbst habe es schon 4 mal erlebt. Dies begründete Sie mit der unmittelbaren Nähe der Grenzen BE und NL. Mit dem Thema Grenzregion habe ich mich eigentlich noch nie befasst, kling jedoch recht logisch. Wie sind eure Erfahrungen diesbezüglich? Habt ihr selbst schon einen Einbruch erlebt oder mitbekommen? Passiert das in Aachen so häufig? Danke für eure Hilfe und Auskunft.

Wird man ab der Grenze (Locht Zollmuseum) irgendwann kontrolliert falls man nach Heerlen fahren will oder wird nicht kontrolliert?? Jemand Erfahrung damit gemacht?

Hello everyone. I will start my masters degree at RWTH in winter semester. One of my hobbies is playing bridge. Im playing for 15 years and represented Turkey in international area many times when i was junior(under 25 category) Im counted and respected as a good player in Turkey. Got good results in many junior and open championships.

It is very common to play as a professional bridge player in here. You play with a beginner/intermadiate player, give lessons and play tournaments with them. Talk about played hands after tournaments and do practice with declaration/play/defence. They pay you for this.

My question is, is it also common in Aachen? I saw there are 2 bridge clubs in the city. Are there professional, semi-professional players like this? It would be great to earn some income from this during my masters degree.

Tried both mcarena and derbyarena need a bigger football field to book I couldn’t also find a football club that would rent its field
