We had an old ipad on which I had extremely limited app access for my child. We replaced it with a Fire 7. I'm so disliking my options for restricting access to content though. I'd like to choose what my child can use, rather than blocking what they can't use, which is impossible because the supply of apps is endless. I do have the most restrictive age settings set so it's not inappropriate, it's just stuff I don't want clickable.

Is there a way to limit app access to only apps I've chosen? I want, like, PBS Kids, Duolingo, maybe one other thing and then nothing else. I've found no way to do that.

Apple products have Assistive Access settings that make this possible ( https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTFxNWb7W/ ). Do fire tablets offer anything similar? If so, I can't find anything.

I recently started going to university and I noticed 85%+ of my peers have tablets, and most of those have pens which they use to make notes on slides made available by the professors. I'd like to get in on this and today I went to the store and asked specifically about which pen system is best, and the salesperson said Samsung has the most matured design.

The most important feature for me is how well the pen works, everything else is secondary. I don't need a ton of computing power if it's only going to be used for notes. I have a Pixel 8a which I'm happy with, so I took a Slate into consideration but it seems to be more expensive and less developed compared to Samsung's offering.

There's a deal going on with an S9 FE tablet and an S Pen for 400,- €, to me this seems like the sweet spot between price and performance.

Additionally, I'd like everyone's suggestions on the best apps for taking notes.

Hi all! I will be going to university next year February and my parents want to buy me a tablet. The only problem is we don't know which tablet to choose. So far the choices are: Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ and iPad Air 11"(2024). Both of these are in our budget. Which one would be the best for a university student? Or are there any alternatives that you would recommend? I want to use the tablet for textbooks, videos and movies, online lectures, Note taking (I would buy the Apple Pencil Pro for the iPad), digital art and light gaming.

So, need some help making a decision, as I've narrowed it down to two options as per the title.

The reason I'm comparing these two is that the price I can get them both are within my budget and seem to be the best two within that budget.

I'm in Australia, and I can get the Ipad Pro 12.9" 2018 (Refurbished) for $799 AUD, and the Oneplus Pad 2 (New) for $699 AUD.

I'm used to both android and ios (android personal phone, iphone work phone), with much preference for android, but the tablet will be just for watching videos and maybe some reading, so I can deal with ios for that.

Now the thing is, idk if I should cheap on this and go for the Samsung galaxy tab a9+ or maybe the OnePlus pad go? Okay so I'm currently searching for a tablet to buy for uni so I would only be writing notes, watching recordings, PDFs and also watch Netflix, YouTube etc. no gaming or anything and I came across the Huawei matepad 12x and the honor MagicPad 2. Initially I was leaning towards the matepad but the unavailability of google services are turning me towards the MagicPad, which is a little more expensive but not too much (40$ more) what do you advise me to go for?

Hi. Just need an opinion for those using the Pad 6 Pro.

I'm thinking of buying between the Pad 6 pro and the Honor Magic Pad 2. Of course the Magic Pad 2 has a bigger screen, specs, etc. but i can minimize my spending by choosing the Pad 6 pro.

My use for the tablet are for watching movies, series, using emulators, and such. I want to know the experience of using the Pad 6 pro since the reviews i've watched/read are 50-50. Some are good, and some are bad (especially the UI of HyperOS). Some says that there are stutters while playing Genshin Impact and some users says there are none. So i'm kind of conflicted which to choose. I'm also thinking of buying the Oneplus Pad 2 but to my surprise there performance throttle and stutters according to them. They also say that the screen have an "IPS glow" when viewed off-center so i'm excluding it to my list.

I know specs-wise the Honor Magic Pad 2 is better in so many aspects but if the user experience in Pad 6 pro is good, then i will opt to choose the Pad 6 pro.

I am planning to get a tablet for studying. At first i was planning to get the air but i am impressed with the s9 fe. For taking notes, opening pdfs , etc.. m2 seemed little overkill for me but its power and future-proofness is dissuading for me. I have a special bundle for both of the tabs but air is 100% more expensive than s9fe.( air has the pencil pro that comes with it as a special bundle). I can push my Budget and get the ipad too but from the videos i see that both of these tablets have the nearly similar capabilities and it makes the decision harder for me.What would you suggest ?

I would love some help as in totally lost. I understand the Lenovo has a better spec but the software kind of sucks. Samsung only has 6gb ram but has a fantastic pen and software is optimised. I'm not sure which to go for. I can also find the Lenovo cheaper but sure if it's worth paying extra for Samsung or not?

Or any other tabs I have seen the Xiaomi pad 6 but can't find it with a pen.

Looking for a bit of advice on tablet purchase. Looking for something that's a little easier to travel with vs my Legion gaming laptop. Uses would be fairly straightforward, some Netflix watching, basic browsing, emails, etc on a bigger screen than my phone. Now that I've been looking at tablets, I think there is a use case for work notes, pdf / ebook markup for courses, etc.

I was originally looking at the S9 fe, but best buy has the plus on sale, with keyboard case for $569 CAD Comparing it, I've also been looking at the P12 from Lenovo with keyboard case , at $559 CAD. Not sure which is the better option.

Just looking for an eInk tablet that is good for note taking (easy to transfer the handwritten files over to a work PC for example), and for reading manga (I have a subscription to the Shonen Jump app, and would prefer to keep using it).

That's basically it! Up until now I've used an iPad Pro (2018), but realised that the two use cases I have anymore are both paper focussed, so would rather extend my battery life with eInk.

So i have a gaming laptop currently and i am doing cs as my major in uni. The laptop is big and heavy so its hard to carry around to classes. I was planning on buying a tablet (samsung cuz i have a samsung phone) and i wanted to know if a tablet will be enough for cs classes or would it be required to have a laptop. I will still keep my gaming laptop which is fairly new but the tablet wont be worth if i cant do almost all of my classwork on it

The 2025 12g is just outside of my budget ...i have a welcome bonus, Cheapest 2025 12g i have have is $330ish about $30 more then my budget.

But i should be at a 1000 coins in 2 more days...I also have a vip trial avaliable which nets me another $3 off coupon. Im not sure what the extra savings would be from all that yet, I'm really annoyed because I just has a $10 off store coupon expire.

Assuming the extra coins and coupons doesn't get the 2025 12g down to the $300 mark. Would you rather the 2023 at 12 gb or 2025 at 8 gb?

Just bought an iPad 10, a significant upgrade over my previous model. The charging cord supplied is usb-c on both ends, with a wall plug having a usb-c port. I tried using another cable I have which splits into three connectors, one of which is usb-c. It wouldn’t charge the iPad. Maybe the problem is because it’s split, I thought. So then I tried a usb to usb-c cord from my portable charging block (which charges other iPads without problem) but it wouldn’t charge the iPad 10. Finally, I tried the usb to usb-c cable with a wall plug having a usb port. Still would not charge the iPad 10.

I can probably get a portable charger with a usb-c outlet and use the supplied usb-c to usb-c cord, but I’m not sure it’d work. I’d like to know before I buy one. And even if it does, I’m stuck with a single usb-c to usb-c cord. Will other usb-c to usb-c cords work? Again, I don’t know. Am I stuck using only Apple’s overpriced cords? I’d like to find a usb to usb-c cord that works.

what are other people experiencing when trying to charge iPad 10’s? What solutions have you found? I’d like to know, thank you.
