Seems it’ll only charge with its own cord and wall plug. Is that right?
I cannot use a regular USB mini with a battery pack, or a standard USB mini at all it seems.
I am considering a Nook for my son. From what I am reading, I can set up a child profile and customize the parental controls to remove access to the store and also to whatever recommendations B&N wants to show my kiddo. Can anyone verify this or share pictures of the main screen with a child profile active?
Basically, can I set it up where he can access what I’ve purchased for him and that’s it?
My post to NOOK social media team
I know that page sync has always been a bit hit or miss but recently, it doesn't seem to be working at all for me.
I recently took advantage of the upgrade program to get a Glowlight 4 and am liking it.
I still have a few Glowlight 3's around that I keep in various places so I don't have to move my 4 from my bedside.
However, when I read the same book on either the 3 or 4, the pages don't sync between them at all. I have taken to just remembering the page number before I put down the Nook so that I can go directly to that page when I pick it up on the other device. But I don't always do that or don't always remember the page.
Is there any advice for troubleshooting this?
I have a Nook Glowlight 4e. I used to be able to bring it into a B&N store and read for free for an hour. Last week I tried this and the option was no longer available to me. Are certain stores disabling it? Or is it a feature B&N no longer offers at all?
I have a Nook HD+ that I currently just use as an e reader, but I really want to be able to use things like YouTube on the device as well. I’ve heard that upgrading to a more modern and supported version of android (android 7) can let you do these things. Given that the nook currently runs a custom version of android I’m afraid if I upgrade it that I won’t be able to read any of the books I’ve downloaded from the nook store. Has anyone here done something similar with their nook?
Just bought a GL4 for myself for a more practical way than reading on an iPad and I was wondering if anyone knew how to access the rest of the supposed 32gb space?
Any tips please?
Hello,
I recently bought 4 ebooks on the Barnes and Nobles website and it seems that I have a problem reading my books. I don't know if it's an error from the website, but only half of the pages are visible when I'm reading on the web PC. Is it possible for me to zoom out the page so I could read my books properly?
Thanks in advance for the response and have a great day!
So i found my old nook 2 and tried to connect the nook to my internet. It appears on my list, but if i try to connect to it it says "connected, no internet". Now i have heard that Barnes and Nobles has discontinued some nook readers, but does that also include internet services for them?
Is it still possible to load something like Mini vMac on a Nook Simple Touch?
What method would be recommended if possible?
I got a BNRV700 from a family member who unfortunately passed. Can anyone help me to confirm what year this came out and if B&N is still doing updates? It’s still logged into their account - I was going to do a factory reset on it, but do I need their password or to deactivate their account to use the Nook? Thanks!
Hi so I’m new to purchasing a nook, just got it today but I was curious I feel a little dumb for asking but is there any possible way I can convert my physical books I bought and I own onto my nook without having to repurchasing them? I just didn’t think that through and I thought I could scan them and put them on my nook with no problem but I guess not
Hello all,
Forgot I had purchased about 20 books back when I had a Nook which only lasted about a year before failing miserably. Just learned the Windows app isn't supported anymore either. Is there any way to save the books to my computer, maybe somehow importing them to Calibre, so I can read them elsewhere?
I just turned on my nook and every single title on it - more than 100 - had a stupid cloud icon next to them and there was some stupid pop up saying "moved to the cloud, takes up no storage space on your nook!" As though that was a feature and not a huge pointless thing I didn't want especially as I was somewhere with no Wi-Fi.
I know they're still there because they take no time to "download" but why the ever living @#$& did nook do this?
Hi there,
I found my old Nook HD+ that I got back in like 2015ish. I haven't turned it on in probably at least 4 or 5 years. But it charged and I had to manually update it following the instructions on the B&N website. Unfortunately the device won't let me sign into my account after connecting to wifi, and I can't download any books I had.
Can someone help me with this? I'm not really sure what else to do as I've tried deleting my accounts, reconnecting to wifi, rebooting it etc. Thanks in advance.
hello! i recently bought a glow light. i was just wondering if there was any sort of way i can download books onto it? its the oldest version and ive racked my brain trying to figure out if there is a way to transfer books from my computer to my nook. any help is appreciated:)
The dictionary uses a much smaller font than I have set for the reader, and on top of that it's a soft grey that's hard to see.
Is there a way to change the font display settings for the dictionary? It's nearly unusable to me with the defaults.
To me, it's the end of consideration for nook as an ereader. Will no longer recommend their units since they became close/exclusive
I recently bought the Nook Glowlight 4 Plus and am having difficulty finding a good variety of covers on both Amazon and Etsy. I find most people only make covers for Kindle readers. I really like the ones that look like book covers. Does anybody have any recommendations for where to look?
Hi! Just bought my first nook and had a couple questions. -how can I put pdfs on my nook
-how do I add other apps I’ve seen others do it but I’m not sure Thank u! 🩷
Hey all, I've been using the original Nook glowlight for close to a decade now and it appears to have finally shown it's age. The last time I used it (a few months ago) it was working fine, but this time when I charged it up it got stuck on this half frozen, broken looking screen (afaik the screen is not broken? But it really looks like it is)
I've tried charging it fully, plugging it into my computer, and even unplugging the battery. Any last ditch efforts I can try before I finally call it quits and give it the retirement it's earned? I'd love to keep it around if possible, it belonged to my late grandfather and it's one of the last things I have left of him.
I'll post a photo of the screen for reference. I'm pretty bummed about this all, so I'd love any advice you've got. Thanks in advance
I purchased a GL4 on eBay, and it arrived today in South Korea. While I was waiting for it to charge, it automatically updated its software. Unfortunately, due to this update, I am unable to download any other Android apps using ADB as I cannot enter USB debugging mode. I was wondering if there's an alternative method to downgrade the firmware version?
Does anyone know a page turner that works for the Nook Glowlight?
