I’m having trouble remembering what this surface go keyboard was called (if it even was a surface tablet) I swear it had a fold keyboard that had NO depression, and felt like a fabric. Does anyone know what I may be remembering and has a name for it I’d appreciate it.

Anyone have any experience installing Fedora or any other Linux variant on Surface hardware with a Brydge bluetooth keyboard? I know some tablet features won’t work. I’m just looking to do something with this since I don’t use it much these days.

I've had a Surface Pro 7 since 2020. I really liked it, but now it is refusing to charge. I tried getting a new charge cord and that didn't help.

I'm thinking of replacing it. I don't need it for much. Basic browsing, bill paying, paying taxes, reading, YouTube. Nothing too taxing. I'm considering getting a Go for the cheaper price. I've seen a lot saying the Go 3 is not great, but I'm worried about the Go 2 not being supported after this year. Is that something I should worry about?

Problems:

1. Second External Screen has Artifacts and Flickers constantly. It worked with old SP8, and it works with my desktop. Neither Cable nor Screen nor Hub are the Problem, they are working fine with other devices.
2. SP9 gets stuck in Hibernate Mode. Only Mouse is shown and moveable, but there wont be a login screen. i have to hard reset the computer to restart. Happens frequently.
3. SP9 constantly changes all cores to 400mhz, while temps are below 60 degree. Ok, i was stress testing the system, but the temps have been fine (70 degree max under full load)
4. system sometimes hangs up and stops working for about a minute or two.

tried solutions:

Ive literally deinstalled and reinstalled every driver and firmware. I took drivers from MS and from parts Manufacturers (f.e. Intel). Hub and everythin are at latest (and work fine with other devices)

I stress tested the hardware. While its extremely weak for a system at this pricepoint (more then 2k €), everything works without artifacts (furmark) or miscalculations (prime95 small ftt, large ftt, blend). Also SSD works without any defects.

i wasted already ~20hours with that *insert disgusting words here*, and i reached the end of what i can do to solve the problem. its almost certainly a firmware issue, probably at the bios level (btw the bios of this device is garbage tier, even if the system would work fine^^ if there would be a decent bios, i could try deactivating deep sleep core states to try fix f.e.).
Or it might be a problem with a corrupted Win11? My old SP8 also had Win11, and it didnt have those Problems.
anyone had similar problems and knows a firmware for this system, that just works, and a place to download?

I snagged a surface go laptop from a call center that was closing. I went to do a fresh install of windows 10(and 11) and each time it still installed with the centers info. Turned of the secure boot/bitlocker and formated the m.2 in my desk to PC and now when I go to install windows 10, 11 even Linux it won't recognize that there's is a drive connected.

My desktop sees it and with copy files to it. I've tried a different m.2 on the Go but same problem. It does show a message about loading drives but I've yet to find any that work. Ideas? If it helps I was given the bitlicker recovery key for it

I have to admit i do love my new birthday toy, its a shiny beast that snaps and roars with audio and video quality that'd cause my surface to submit, but regardless, I'm still even more impressed, especially after the recent windows 11 pro upgrade, for day to day use for light to medium tasks my surface is still more comfortable, lightweight, sleek, and easy to use than the Mac book even though the Mac book behaves like a prop computer of how computers work in a sci fi movie.

Sure the animation skips frames and even when running one app can't compete with the fluidity of the xps 120hz promotion display, but the skipping of frames almost seems like my surface just doesn't care to do the song and dance and just gets to where I want to be. Its still snappy after all these years and can last on average 7 hours on a charge while being about half the weight and being capable of with a snap transforming into a tablet I could use in bed, control my Spotify or watch a video on youtube etc then leave it on something boring and place it standing on my night stand and it all just works seamlessly.

It occurred to me that there's no reason I wouldn't still use this thing till the day it breathes its last breath. The value of the surface remains in all its versatility allowing for it to lead a second life after its use as a work horse lap top. It'll always be a smart screen, an art and design tool, a tablet for surfing media consumption and a plethora of things that will never be that processor intensive.

People speak up the build quality and lack of bloat on macbooks but they're comparing apples to orange soda. 1st party hardware like the surface designed and optimized around windows with Microsoft backing it completely has led to a device that just continues to be reborn and improves with every update to become ever more what it was intended to be.

The build quality is at least as good as the MacBook or the iPad, having never used a case I've not a single hairline scratch on the back or on the display, only some flecs of paint that flaked off at 2 corners that a sharpie can conceal for months.

I never appreciated how sleek, light weight, and truly portable and unmatched in versatility this device is until I got a Mac book which can aspire to be a desktop computer but thats about it. And when it goes obsolete its form factor will prevent it from being anything but an obsolete laptop.

Just some random thoughts I gained from exploring a device one would thing would relegate this device to the bottom drawer but that doesn't seem to be happening at all. If anything I'm figuring out how to use the two in tandem each for what they're better at.

I'm trying to open the Surface app on the SLS2 and it crashes a few second after opening.

I tried "Repair" on the App Settings and I tried "Reset". The same issues happens.

Is anyone else facing similar issues and if so, have you found a way to resolve it? It's really frustrating not being able to access my Surface settings because of this.

This is my Surface Laptop 2 and I am considering buying the 5 at a discount or wait for the 6. I really just use it for telework, streaming videos, and that's about it. I want to replace it because I have dropped it a bunch and the trackpad is protruding. Because I use my laptop for telework at home and on the road I am thinking I need the warranty to protect against heavy wear and tear. Anyone had good luck with the warranty?

I purchased a Surface Pro 9 (i5 8GB Ram). The refresh rate is set to dynamic (120hz | 60hz) and while scrolling, it really doesn't feel smooth at all, even when setting it to only 120hz.

Any scrolling, regardless of what I'm doing, if its a simple google search or my scrolling down my music folder - which contains 300 files with a mix of flac, wav, mp3 - it looks sluggish and laggy.

Is the issue because the Surface has 8GB of RAM? Or is it just an issue with windows overall?

Perhpas its a windows thing? Upon thinking on it, my Asus Zenbook Pro Duo which has 16 GB of RAM and 12Gen i5, feels better than the surface pro, but only marginally, and nowhere near what 120hz feels like on say my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

Is the laptop go 3s motherboard size the same as the surface laptop gos? or is it not, and If yes would everything work with that motherboard like display touchpad and the keyboard?

How do you launch a brand new Pen and brand it as the Surface pen, but only support half your line of products?

I've recently been having a problem that's driving me insane: My bluetooth headphones (both my Sony WI-1000X and my JBL Tune 225 TWS) connect via Bluetooth to my Surface Pro 9 (I can see them having connected in the Bluetooth settings), but the sound is still playing via the Surface's speakers. In the sound settings, the Headphones don't show up as output devices. I have to manually remove the device and reconnect it from the sound settings page (via "add device"). This works until the next time I turn the headphones on and I have to go through the same process again. Not sure if this is a Surface or a Win11 problem.

All other devices paired with the headphones have bluetooth disabled.

I am looking at my first surface device, for a cross between work and home media, coming from an M1 air 8GB.

Was thinking of using the pro 8 for the 120hz screen, and also getting 16gb ram and or 512gb storage (I don't use much storage, OneDrive and a NAS handle most remote apps, and I don't game locally), plus the 256gb on my air has never gotten ANYWHERE near full.

The pro 7 is quite a bit cheaper however, minus the 120hz screen.

Any suggestions on which? Again mostly office work and media consumption like Plex and netflix, some game streaming from Xbox that's it.

I want to get the Surface Pro 8 with an Intel Core i7-1185G7 with 16GB of RAM. However, I've heard of laptops and the Rog Flow Z13 that also tend to grab my attention. I want to do medium to light gaming and productivity tasks. I love the Surface Pro 8's design and the reason why I don't choose the Pro 9 is because the headphone jack seems to be absent from the device and I use wired earbuds. So based off of my prior criteria, should I get the Pro 8 or should I look elsewhere?

I bought my SLS 2 one week ago. Everything was behaving normally until today when it abruptly shut down. It now will not turn/stay on unless connected to a power supply. I generated a battery report; below are the relevant details and recent history (including from yesterday when it was acting as expected.) The report as I understand it shows my device suspending immediately when attempting to switch to battery power.

What I have tried, with no changes: hard shut down/restart, searching for updates, using the surface diagnostic toolkit, and uninstalling/reinstalling the battery driver. Am I missing something? Is there anything else I can try or is repair/exchange my only option? Appreciate any advice I can get.

Hello guys, just ordered a Surface Pro 9 to serve as my main tablet device for the following:
1- Taking handwritten notes and mind mapping for studying. (I will do a lot of writing as I need to consume and digest a lot of engineering concepts and topics in the next two years).

2- Taking notes during my meetings.

3- I wanted something very portable to be able to write code on (mainly for web development) at any time.

4- Watch videos and courses.

I hesitated between the Galaxy Tab 9+ and the SP9. Eventually, I chose the SP9 and ordered it.

Will I regret it? especially I feel like the SP9 with the I5 will be very laggy and will have a terrible battery life compared to the Galaxy Tab s9+.

My Microsoft Surface Studio Laptop stopped charging on the original charger, but on the USB-C charger you could charge, but much slower because the original charger has as much as 127W power. The device is still under warranty, another 2. 5 years so, I reported the problem on the Manufacturer's website and sent it for warranty after receiving the label to the service Ivy Technology (Bydgoszcz) and described the problem. After a few days I get Surface Laptop Studio with warranty and I see that the service did not repair my Surface Studio stating the reason " damage caused by exposure to liquids ", from my side I turn to the service Ivy Technology from Bydgoszcz on the basis of which the repair was refused, why the package was not protected with foil, lack of sticker " Note Glass" and total made me format disk and where is the liquid, I did not get an answer to that question, just outright me useless. I take matters into my own hands and reading reddit, I manage to fix it without interfering with the laptop and turning it off. Today 10 April calling the hotline finds out that I no longer have a warranty for the laptop because it is flooded and I can not create an order again, it is some absurd, I have all the documentation ie. photos before shipping, photos after receiving the laptop from the courier from the service and video as you can see the serial number and the laptop charges on the magnetic link on the original charger from Microsoft 127W.

It’s kind of absurd to me, as a company like Microsoft is not able to fix their device, make me flood and the problem is quite popular on reddit and the manufacturer knows it perfectly well.

Please note that my guarantee has been taken away and I cannot re-create a guarantee order which is absurd. On the video you can see how the laptop is charging on the magnetic connector and is included my laptop serial number, which was sent for warranty.
