I have a Surface Laptop 3 (i5 1035G7,8GB,256GB) and recently it's started just turning off after I press on the chassis in the area above the power button and sometimes near where the charger plugs in. After it turns off, it doesn't respond to the power button until you press it 10 or so times. Anyone know what may be causing this/how much it would cost to repair this problem?
For surface pro 9,
Fellow Redditor of Surface Pro,
I seek your professional opinion and recommendations. With a budget of 27,000 PHP, my options are a refurbished Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pro 7.
As a law student, my needs revolve around extensive reading and the requirement for a portable device to handle course-related tasks. The ideal device would combine the portability of a tablet with the functionality of a Windows laptop, and I believe the Surface Pro fits the bill. Additionally, considering my daily commute of 30-40 minutes to school, portability is crucial.
Now, onto the specifications:
Surface Pro 4:
Surface Pro 7:
Considering the specs, my question is which one should I choose? Also, if I opt for the budget-friendly one, I could buy other items with the remaining funds. Your insights are highly appreciated.
Ps. I'll mostly use the Surface for note taking and highlighting documents.
Pps. I do have a laptop at home and a 24 inch monitor for creating and printing documents.
I've been using the Surface Pro 9 for a year and I'm pretty happy with it. But as you all know, Surface Pro products are quite uncomfortable to "use on your lap" So I found out about the products from brydge, looking for one that would make up for the problem. It was exactly what I wanted, but there was no product for the Pro 9. Is there any other alternative?
I mean, I think I know what's nice about it, but what might I find irritating? I've seen some passing remarks about Ryzen reserving 2gb of ram for video ... and something about performance dropping when battery is below 50% ... are those real things?
Any real world annoyances come to mind that I should know about? Fan noise, speakers, keyboard, trackpad, stability, heat, battery life, screen brightness .... ???
FWIW, I'm looking at "certified used" 13.5" devices on eBay, seem to be running $400-$450.
Surface 3 laptop
If it won’t turn on, and there are no lights on the charger, and 3 chargers have been tried, what are the most likely faulty components?
Note same results via usb-c power input.
No matter where I go to on the support website, it leads me to the surface support app, gives me suggestions that don't help, and when I choose the issue I have (or any other issue, none work) it tells me to go to a service center. How tf do I just talk to someone or chat with someone? Istg it's like a maze
Valorant was working fine until a few weeks back but now it says the cpu isn’t compatible and I can’t get something like The Finals working for the same reason. I was wondering what would be the solution or if there is one.
Also,if I can get things fixed back to how well they were working,is Baldurs Gate 3 a possibility of playing on it?
Hi,
I have beta version of Surface Pro 8. It is top of the line - 11th Gen Core I7 processor, 32GB RAM, 1TB SDD.
I recently reset Windows 11 and after that keyboard isn't working. I tried to download drivers but SPro 8 driver program exits saying Tab not recognized. Please help.
Thanks
Did anyone every install stickers on a Signature Type Cover?
I have an opportunity to get a German (QWERTZ) signature type cover for a good price. However I'm used to QWERTY UK keyboards.
I know I can just change the keyboard layout in Windows, but I'm considering installing keyboard stickers with the UK layout.
I am also considering a "skin" instead but I'm not sure.
Changing the keycaps will probably not be worth it unless someone has a good link (EU).
Any suggestions? Did anyone ever do this?
My surface won't turn on, I've tried everything, basically every online solution, it's not the charger, I've also tried powering it on from the keyboard, still nothing (I tested the charger and keyboard on another device, they work), any solution?
Hey guys and girls,
got my new Surface Laptop Studio 2 (4050) recently. During audio/video playback I got a popping/cracking/rustling sounds randomly (but often). It is as if someone was fumbling with the microphone during recording.
Got a replacement due to other issues too. The replacement has the same audio issue.
Did a bit of research: Users like u/42spanishinquisition and u/mackid1993 (albeit he not that much) are having the same issue, also on their replacement. Searched further and found several posts, where other people on Surface devices have the same issue:SLS 1 user: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/all/surface-laptop-studio-speakers-issues-popping-and/2dde6085-03d0-41b1-97c0-a8a1d06ca66a Pro9: https://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/17o5htm/latest_audio_drivers_realtek_high_definition/ whereas he seem to got it fixed with a driver change; but u/seba842005 had the issue already nearly a year ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/11a1rtd/speakers_poppingcracking_surface_pro_9_fix/
Now, these surely is only a drop in the ocean of Surface owners for sure. But it seems to be a tangible issue that Microsoft has with its devices and I am wondering why same have it, and others don't. Or do most people just don't notice?
Is it a software aka driver issue or hardware? If hardware, why are so few people affected/talking about. And if hardware, why can one influence it with driver updates (if I revert back to Microsoft generic driver on my realtek sound device, the issue is gone, as well as 80% percent of sound stage and volume/bass)?
I am still in the return window of my SLS2. Figuring out if it's an issue that will/can be fixed via driver updates or if it's indeed an hardware issue on a specific batch would help that decision. Are there people with a SLS2 (4050) that definitely dont have that issue?
Thanks!
PS. Disabling Dolby Atmos and/or Sound Enhancements makes no difference.
Also is there any way to upgrade storage on these?
Hi, I'm trying to identify the part number for a UK signature keyboard with the pen. Microsoft doesn't appear to publish the part number and conscious I could end up with a European or US layout. I tried asking Microsoft but the part number suggested was for a US keyboard. I think it is 8x800063. But baffled why this is so hard to find out. I just want a keyboard with the £ symbol on number key 3.
Thanks Neil
So I don't use my SP9 all the time... can sometimes go several days without needing it. I've noticed several times now that when I come back to use it, it's dead even though I made sure to actually shut down (not sleep). Is this normal behavior? It doesnt make sense to me to need it plugged in all the time. I also have the type cover... does that always use battery? Should I detatch it if I'm not gonna use it for a while?
So as the title suggests, automatic ink to text is not available and save PowerPoint, all other Microsoft apps, word, one note etc they have the ink to text disabled, I don’t even get the pen with A in it, and I’m using windows 11, updated, and recent versions of office 365. I can do it via lasso select but that’s a pain, and I’m feeling a bit disappointed with my purchase given this was the only reason to buy this thing. I’m using the surface pen 2 and their own keyboard as well. Any leads? Thanks
Hi,
I'm experiencing a BIOS issue with my Surface Pro 4. When attempting to repair it, I encounter difficulty installing the firmware for the touchscreen. Can anyone assist me in finding the correct file for my laptop?
I have a I have a Surface Laptop Studio, a computer released in Italy in February 2022 and paid 3,249€, with Intel Core i7-11370H processor, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 Ti GPU with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory and 16 GB of RAM. Yesterday I bought the game Arizona Sunshine 2 to play from the computer on my new Quest 3 headset but the Oculus software doesn’t even let me start it, it gives the message “the graphics card of your system is not compatible with the Rift system software”. I tried to download some demos and other software from the Oculus software and nothing works, they don’t even start, it gives an error and I can’t do anything. Is it possible that with a powerful computer of a year ago with a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti you can’t play with an Oculus? Has anyone with a Surface Laptop Studio device solved the problem?, a computer released in Italy in February 2022 and paid 3,249€, with Intel Core i7-11370H processor, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 Ti GPU with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory and 16 GB of RAM. Can someone tell me, how to use the popular app called "GestureSign" on Surface? Or share some of your gestures?
I plug it in and light does not switch on. I bought a whole new charger and it doesn’t work. I need this laptop to charge, I use it for class and it’s not mine. Any fix?
first with whiteboard, it seems there's no way to delete all the "boards" i created ...i need to individually delete unless I'm missing something here ?
with the pen , i find it sometimes suddenly stops working while in writing in the whiteboard . .but it's not the whiteboard program as my finger works fine
using surface pro 6 with pen version 2
and the laptop gets incredibly hot eventually when i share my whiteboard on Skype , eventually causing great lag as i write
honestly tempted to try an iPad with apple pencil ...experience might be smoother
For those that have an itch to scratch to play with an unusual laptop design that isn't very fast because of the 4-core cpu, bestbuy is clearing this older model out.
Everyone else? There's far better/faster tablet PCs for the clearance price imo.
My Surface Laptop Studio has been having issues. I wanted to send it in for service (I have warranty till mid next month). I've already put in a service order (I gotta send device within 30 days). Now the problem is that I don't know how to physically send my device. Like, is there an address I'm meant to send it to (via courier)? I couldn't find this info on their website...
I am considering to buy a Surface for studying, but I only have ~250€ (Germany).
Therefore I am looking into buying a used one. Either a Pro 5 or a Pro 6.
The Pro 6 ones are harder to get, for so cheap.
Does it still make sense to buy such an old device? Or should I rather get a more modern Android tablet?
If the surface duo 3 comes out it will basically be my notetaking machine
the surface duo 3 is ditching the dual screens foldable for a galaxy fold like device that's better in my opinion. its gonna be nice and small for a notetaking machine I hope it comes out in 2024
Hey all, Recently purchased a new SP9 from Best Buy. Occasionally, maybe once every 1-2 days, there are vertical lines that flicker for half a second. Anybody know what this is?
According to one of windows central podcast there might be an arm powered surface laptop 6 this is really huge news and many people who have wanted an arm surface laptop 6 it will give good performance AI features and stunning battery life if this does come out in 2024 would you buy one?
It might even be better than the MacBook air
Can someone explain to me if there’s a difference between these 2? Why is the Costco bundle $500 less than what appears to be the same SP9 on Best Buy’s site (and on Microsoft’s)?
Do you like the change to an anodized aluminum body on the Surface Laptop Studio 2, compared to the previous magnesium alloy on the original Surface Laptop Studio?
I actually prefer the magnesium - it felt nicer on the hand. Also preferred the more matte look.
I was working on an assignment today and I didn't realize a bottle I had placed behind my laptop was leaking.
Suddenly, the trackpad stopped working and I was checking to see what was wrong when I noticed the water.
It had soaked the top half of the keypad, around the stand area. I was too panicked to check if it had affected the other keys and immediately turned it off.
I am currently freaking out because I don't know what I would do if it's gone for good.
Could someone please tell me how or if I could fix it?
Please and thank you.
