Post Description:
All posts need to be descriptive, ESPECIALLY technical or compatibility issue submissions. Explain, in full detail, your specs like Operating System (Win7/Sierra/etc), Tablet/Cintiq (sku/model), Driver version, software, and cables you're using.
Post Title:
Use a descriptive post title. No one or two word sentences. Be clear and concise. Just saying, "what do I do??", (and anything similar) is not a good title. Its obvious why you're here, so avoid the word 'Help' and any exclamations/caps usage like "NEED HELP!"
Post Flair:
Use Flair to mark the title of your posts appropriately. i.e. - Problem, Question, News, etc. If you had a question or issue that was successfully answered, then please change the flair to "Solved".
Art Posts:
First, we try to keep this sub family friendly, so please avoid posting any nsfw art, and no meme/joke art.
Start your art post with a question, ask for critique, tell us what you struggled with, etc. Not engaging with the community will cause removal.
Self promotion is limited. If you make an Art Post spamming your socials in title and body, multi-sub posting, and too frequent advertising of your work/product, will result in removals.
Purchase Advice:
For product recommendations, please flair it as "Purchase Advise". And include exact tablet/cintiq models, instead of just saying "Wacom tablet".
Rant Posts:
We can all get frustrated sometimes, even at Wacom. You can ask for as much help as you want, but we don't make the changes at Wacom. Venting to this subreddit, with your negative opinions about Wacom, will literally do nothing. But if you present an issue that the community needs to hear about, then you can inform us in a calm manner. Ask for help, and we will try to do our best to help you.
(See also next rule.)
Be Polite:
Simple, don't be a jerk. Respect others, either the input they give, questions that might sound "stupid", or when they share their work. And be constructive when giving advice or correcting someone. Also, don't curse.
Say Thank You:
If someone solved your problem, don't just dip out. Let them know if it worked, say 'thank you', and give them an upvote!
No memes / meme templates. Its a slippery slope.

The Wacom Intuos Pro was first released back in 2013 (yes, that long ago). Since its initial launch, it has undergone some significant and mostly minor updates. However, as the last major update occurred in 2017, when do you think they will completely redesign it from the ground up? And what features would you most like to see added?
I've had a Cintiq Companion 2 for a few years. It's been a dependable device for most of it's life. The last two years though, it has randomly restarted at completely unpredictable intervals. Different versions of Windows 10 (up to date, rolled back updates), new hard drive, updated drivers, older drivers, removed Windows updates, etc. Clean Windows 10 install. Replaced the cooling fans inside the unit (one failed a few years ago and I just replaced both). Did the same on my original Cintiq Companion and it was a simple fix. It ran fine for a few more years before the display just stopped working, defeating the purpose of the device.
The machine is...frustrating. I may have a few weeks of no random restarts. I can work on my art without complaint. Then a day of getting absolutely no work done--the machine would restart right after logging in, while booting into Windows, after loading Illustrator or Photoshop. It was impossible to predict. Dozens if not one hundred or more restarts in a day.
I finally just ordered a new desktop (my first new machine since this Cintiq Companion 2!). Found a great deal on a reasonable machine. Figured I would get a cable to hook the Companion 2 up to the new machine and find another use for it as a stand alone Cintiq. That way I don't need to invest in a new drawing display. Frankly I cannot afford it after this desktop purchase. The screen is in great shape and my pen works, so why not?
No such luck. I bought a 3 in one cable by mistake (the model number escapes me, either way it is the wrong one). It didn't work. It required a 4 pin power supply, an HDMI port, and a USB 2/3 port. Ordered this cable from ebay (no one else sells it). Didn't know it needed a 4 pin power cable. Found a 4 pin power cable that should provide enough power (another $25 purchase).
It arrived today. Hooked it all up. Windows 11 detects that I have attached another display (might just be due to detecting the HDMI connection and not an actual active display). I've made it the primary display, connected the USB directly to a port in the back of the machine (and not a hub). Installed the Wacom drivers, restarted...nothing.
Wacom software does not detect any Wacom devices.
So frustrating! Apparently I need a STJ-A346-7X cable instead. It is a "2 in 1" cable. No one sells it. ANYWHERE. No used ones, no after market cables. "Got to love proprietary cables!" said no one.
After a few hours of searching, I found it on a website in Indonesia here. I need to put in my United States phone number as a required field and absolutely no combination works. Plus who's to say that I would ever receive it? The conversion rate is around $55 (not bad). But would I ever get it?
It's frustrating. I've been a loyal Wacom customer since 1995. I've spent thousands of dollars on my equipment over the decades. I've bought various versions of the 90's era equipment, multiple Intuos tablets, a Cintiq Companion, and my Cintiq Companion 2. I have been singing the praises of this company and its equipment for thirty years. Can't tell how many people have bought Wacom equipment based on my recommendations.
Only now I have one Cintiq Companion with a screen that doesn't work (it's hooked up to a secondary monitor as a workstation for my laser cutter) and Companion 2 that just randomly restarts for..."reasons" that I cannot figure out. Rather than invest more thousands of dollars in more Wacom equipment, I was hoping to repurpose what I have. One less device in a landfill or a drawer, right?
I can't expect a company to just keep a stockpile of cables that may never be sold, especially for an older machine like this one. That's insane. But at the same time...shouldn't there be a cable for each device? And spares for replacements? There should have been a 2 in 1 cable in the box based on the cost of the machine. I'm just someone who is broke and trying to repurpose old equipment and I guess that was my first mistake.
Sorry to vent. I just want to draw with light and magic again. I've already put in the money and loyalty while treasuring my equipment. Love this stupid device and I've been so frustrated for months now dealing with the stupid restarts. Now I'm reduced to saving more money again and waiting for months in order to afford a decent tablet with a touch interface and a battery-less pen.
Should I venture to other manufacturer's with standardized cables and interfaces? Can I depend on Wacom to outmode their devices as quickly as previous models?
Bah! Enough complaining. Thank you, reddit and the internet for reading. Just at a loss...
So I drop my tablet and notice that the drawing area is kinda opened up. There is a small part (I've marked it in the photo) that supposed to keep it from going loose from the tablet, but now that thing also keep me from putting it back like before. I've tried push it, trying to slide the part around it to give it more space to move but I have no luck, the part didn't budge at all. I tried unscrewing the bolt behind the rubber part, but can't find any gap to pry. Anyone know how to solve this
Thanks in advance.
hi, i have a "one by wacom" tablet which i got about 3-4 years a go i think and for some reason the pen will lag or just wont work, this happends randomly when im drawing and only started yesterday when it worked fine 20 minutes beforehand with no issues. ive tried changing the nib, redownloading the wacom app, restarting my laptop ect but nothing works
issues include:
pen strokes only working partway through stroke
taps and clicks not working
the krita app not registering that i have already lifted the pen when using the shift and drag shortcut to change pen sizes (ive used krita all 3 years with no problems.
any ideas?
I have a Wacom Cintiq 16 tablet that I primarily use for Krita painting and Blender 3d modeling projects. I was hoping to make it more portable by simply hooking it up to its own minipc like a Beelink, as it is currently running off my big ol gaming PC tower. I was curious if anyone else uses a mini PC with thier tablet and has some recommendations or specs to look out for when buying a mini PC. All help is appreciated, thanks!
Pen Calibration doesnt work at all. Restarting my driver doesnt do anything nor does using older drivers.
I only just noticed it and its driving me nuts. The cursor is like 2mm away from my pen.
Hello, maybe someone can help me here.
I use a new Macbook Pro, a Cintiq Pro 24 Touch and Photoshop. All the latest versions.
How can I turn off drawing with my fingers?
I only want to use the touch function for zooming.
It worked without any problems under Windows!
Many thanks in advance.
Hi, I have wacom intuos pro m, and randomly once in an hour or two tablet buttons (express keys) stop react. It just do nothing, but touch function, touch ring and stylus still works properly.
I customized express keys for both Photoshop and "all other" appications, restarted laptop (Asus, win11), reinstalled driver, reattached cable, nothing work. It fixes itself in some time and then starts again.
Any advices?
I've had a Movink 13 for about 8 months now. Love it. But my Pro Pen 3 lost a button today, and I'm not sure I like its ergonomics anyway. While I mull over how to repair or replace it, I've been looking at the EMR offerings from Staedtler, Lamy, etc.
It seems like Pro has double the resolution and pressure levels of EMR. Will I notice this in real life? Any advantages/disadvantages of switching away from the Pro Pen 3 to an EMR pen?
So, I've got this CTL 671 ( old model ) wacom. I've used a " usb 2.0 cable awm 2725 " ( whatever it means ) for a couple of years, but a few days ago it started working poorly, so I bought a usb cable extension and used another usb cable I had ( b type ). After connecting it, it worked fine for hours and then it suddenly would either disconnect or the wacom light would be going on and off, as a sign of something is wrong ( it had never happened before while using the other cable ). A notification of " your driver isn't working " would appear; the tablet wouldn't be recognized in Windows (10).
Sometimes it connects and disconnects on and on, sometimes it simply turns off, sometimes it turns on again if I unplug and plug the cable into the tablet, and sometimes it works if I unplug and plug the usb cable into my pc. Once it worked right after I unplugged my mouse; only once.
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers
- Used other ubs ports
- Tried it with/without the cable extension
- Went back to the previous cable. The problem remains
Since I'm not really acquainted with harware stuff ( you might have noticed it ), I've pondered some possibilities; let me know if they're, somehow, reasonable.
- Could it be the extension cable fault? I suppose it's not able to carry a virus or anything, but it is possible for it to mess up with drivers/usb drivers by itself?
- Could it be the current cable I'm using? I didn't buy a new cable because I'd plugged it for a few seconds and it seemed stable, so I hadn't tested it to see what would happen if I used it for a long time. If that's the case, which usb type should I buy for this model CTL 671 ( micro usb, usb B, usb C... I don't really know ) ?
- My pc might have caught a virus/malware in the meantime and it affected the tablet. Don't know if it's actually possible.
That's all.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
I've got a well-loved small Intuos Pro (PTH-851). I've probably had it for nine years or more, and mechanically it still works fine.
My problem is that the area I have drawn on has been worn completely smooth over the years; in the light you can see a shiny smooth patch where the nib has always rubbed. Recently it has gotten to the point where it "squeaks" against the nib (I've tried basic and felt) and has an awkward moment where it's stuck.
I've taped paper onto the surface before, but the paper gets chewed up and kinda gross after awhile (sweaty hands).
I know the newer models have replaceable surfaces, but is there anything else I could try? Would a matte "screen cover" over the surface help?
Can't find my stylus for my old bamboo fun. I was sure I had it in a box somewhere but searched my whole house and couldn't find it. Had a box stolen while I was moving recently, maybe it was in that one.
Regardless, every compatible pen I can find is sold out. Any leads or modern pens being manufactured that would be compatible?
So, ive been looking around for drawing pads, and i see a bunch of them for like $30-50 (even 70/80 bucks) but then i keep looking and there are multiple pads that run over 100+ dollars and even beyond that, are the ones under 100$ any good? Or are they not recommended for someone like me? im not gonna be doing any crazy animation projects or high quality animations, i just like drawing anime/cartoon stuff for me and my friends, i plan on maybe doing commissions as well (idk) ive never drawn digitally before, whats the best recommendation and are the ones under 100 any good for someone like me?
The cables are certainly not as bad as the 3-in-one cables monstrosity of the 13HD I had before, but it would be still nice to simplify my setup by using an USB C to C (DP alt mode).
Problem is, motherboards that support DP alt mode are hard to come by and expensive in mATX/ITX formats, so I'm wondering whether it'd be possible to dispense with the DP-Alt motherboard-side altogether with some kind of adapter instead, and still get away with using just one cable (plus the power cable).
I have two Wacom tablets and pens I hook up to my 2021 M1 Macbook pro 16" running Sequoia 15.1.1 (24B91). The table driver (6.4.6-1) will crash FREQUENTLY, sometimes ever 5 minutes. Opening the Wacom Center and clicking "restart driver" will restore functionality for another interval.
The issue is identical for both tablets and both pens, Intuos CTL-6100WL for home use and CTL-4100 for travel.
I reached out to support and they told me that I need to reconfigure all other apps on my computer to whitelist the Wacom driver? Online searches have pointed to Avast security being the cuplrit. I uninstalled Avast (Disabled? Is it even possible to uninstall?) and the frequency of crashes reduced by about 50%, but the issue persisted.
As a designer who uses the Wacom as my primary input device, this is absolutely infuriating. As Wacom support basically told me to go ask someone else, here I am asking someone else 😅👍
Any help or guidance appreciated!
I managed to somehow completely destroy my pen by dropping it one too many times. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it, and I've got several project deadlines coming up, so I need a new one fast. I can't figure out which ones are compatible with my tablet.
It is a Wacom intuos pro medium. Model is PTH-651
any recommendations for what i should buy would be really really appreciated <3
Hello, I have a Wacom cintiq 16 pro. Sometimes when I try to use it, my pen will not reconnect until I reinstall the driver. I have had to do this like every time I use it recently. I got a new pen recently and I don't think this ever happened with the old one. Does anyone know how or why to fix it? If it is a security setting I can't find which one, and I can't figure out what else the issue could be. Any help appreciated, thanks
Hello, I am looking for a drawing tablet that can also support left click by pressing once with your finger. It’s very hard to find any information online as a newbie
Thanks
Hello, Does anyone know why my wacom display connects and wacom displays settings, however Windows does not and doesn't allow me to display to it
Hello,
I recently got a Movink 13. I installed its driver without uninstalling the 660P Intuos driver, and it worked fine. Then, out of curiosity, I plugged in the 660P to test it, and it also worked. So, does this mean that two different tablets can work on the same computer without issues? Are there any disadvantages? I'm really surprised because I previously had an older Intuos5, and when I installed the 660P driver, the Intuos5 stopped working. At that time, having two tablets together didn’t work. I wanted to ask you about this.
Hey!
I have a dtk220 that I got as a gift back in either 2018 or 2019 and I'm looking to sell. There's no major defects and it still works perfectly, I'm just looking for something smaller at this point. I have a post on craigslist but I was wondering if anyone had experience in selling something like this? I'm gonna try and have a friend post it on marketplace for me.
It was bought for 1800, but I know with it being used and older I'm not gonna get anywhere near that. I feel like 4-500 is still a fair price?
I dunno. I've never sold a large electronic like this online so any help at all is appreciated. Not REALLY looking to ship since the original box is long gone, so that may limit my options. I'm in the greater NorCal area so I feel like this should sell fairly well.
Thanks!!
The Battery Monitor stopped working. Now the only way to tell what level the battery is, is to wait for the "low battery" warning message to pop up.
I have had nothing but problems with the Wacom driver since I installed it last month. It is the latest vesrsion, ( 6.4.8-3a), and yes I have re-installed it, ( multiple times). The usual problem happens when the bluetooth connection times out. When I re-connect the tablet, the pen may or may not work. FYI the pen is less than two feet from thr mac-mini. It seems more stable lately. This problem happens only every couple of days now.
The battery monitor issue, is super annoying because it hasn't worked at all for at least a week.
Does anyone else make wacom drivers?
I have ergo arm and wondering how anyone else mounts it. Location on desk etc. or is it really worth the stand?? Considering getting the stand. I have a corner desk and like to have it over the edge.
Hi, I'm new here! I was trying to set up a Wacom Intuos, I already accepted some accessibility and some service permissions and the tablet seemed to be working fine. But then I got this one:
It says: "WacomTabletDriver requests access to control System Preferences. By allowing this, you will provide access to the documents and data of System Preferences and allow actions to be performed within that app."
The installation process felt quite cumbersome, and when I encountered that message, I decided to backtrack and reinstall macOS because all those changes were a bit concerning. I've had the drawing tablet sitting unused for months, but now I want to see if I can finally use it.
Anyway, I can understand those accessibility permissions, but isn't this one too much? This last permission request seems excessive to me. Since it was already working, I can refuse it, right? Is there something I need to manually change in the settings if I don't grant that permission?
I was recently gifted my first drawing tablet with a screen display (2023 Wacom One 12). Much to my chagrin (and my sister's, as she has also been having difficulties connecting hers to her laptop, but I digress), it has been of very little use so far, mostly because of setup issues. I have managed to install the drivers and register the device, so I could use it as is (like a drawing tablet without a screen), but that would completely defeat the purpose of having this one.
Problem 1: I'm not entirely sure what the flashing light of the power button means. It shows up when I connect the tablet to the computer on its own. It does go away when I use the power supply, both with and without the cord connecting to the computer itself. I have seen that the flashing light could mean that the tablet does not have enough power, OR that it has power, but no connection to the computer.
Problem 2: I built my own computer. I'm very new to computers, on the whole, and while it has done fantastic on the whole as far as video games go, this is the first time that I have used it for drawing, so I am completely unfamiliar with what I need to be doing. When I plug the tablet in (tablet USB-C to computer USB-A), a popup notification appears, saying "make sure the DisplayPort you're connected to is supported by your PC". What could I do or where could I go to figure out whether or not it is compatible with my device and how I possibly could make it so?
Problem 3: I have a separate, dedicated graphics card (PNY XLR8 RTX 4070); instead of connecting the tablet USB-C to the motherboard via USB-A, should I be connecting my tablet instead to the graphics card via an HDMI? Would that fix the total lack of display on the tablet? I would ask if it would also fix the need for the power supply, but my hopes are not that high.
Problem 4: It does not show up in my settings as a second screen that I can connect to. I'm unsure whether or not that is a step that I need to take, or if I can go without it. Like I said before, the tablet does work like a screenless tablet would, but that completely defeats the purpose of now having one with a screen.
Things I have done or tried:
- According to another post, the lack of display could be because of something as simple as the USB-C to computer connection should be in the left port of the tablet. I tried it both ways, and it did not work.
- I have tried tablet USB-C to computer USB-C without success. I only had two options anyway, but still. Disappointing.
- I have moved the connection to every applicable USB-A or USB-C port with no success. I would try an adapter to try the HDMI port of my graphics card, but I do not have one at my disposal right this second. Curse you, UPS!
- Attempted to connect to it via bluetooth? I'm unsure whether or not it even has Bluetooth capabilities, I just saw that a different Wacom One did and tried it. I didn't try this avenue too hard.
- I have been TRYING to remove Windows Ink Workspace, but it's like a stubborn evil parasite.
Anyway. Sorry for the longwindedness of this, I'm just trying to provide as much information as possible, because I would really really love for this tablet to work. Thank you so much!
I've had this tablet since late november last year and lately i've had some problems with the pen that came with it (pro pen 2). The pen keeps "disconnecting" or it just stops working in the middle of drawing. The tablet does not detect the pen until i restart my pc. I checked the drivers and theyre updated to the newest version. Is there any way i can fix this problem?
Are there any Wacom pens that don't have buttons and are compatible with tablets with minimal latency / hardware smoothing?
