Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for audiobooks that are gone back in time, or isekai (transported to another world/alternate world)?
It can be in a world with/without magic (although preferably with magic), litrpg with stats etc or no stats, I don't mind.
However, I'm looking for one where the mc goes back to or is reincarnated/whatever to a child (whether that be 12 or even younger). I'm looking for one where the MC is actually affected by being in a child's body and having a child's brain.
I've been listening to Bog Standard Iseakai (would recommend) and it's refreshing to see this explored, rather than basically having an adults experiences/memories and being completely unaffected by being in a child's body like so many others.
While in bog standard isekai it isn't explored a tonne, I'd like to see what other authors have done when exploring this. Examples from that book are feelings of loneliness ( kinda spoiler, but he doesn't have a family, he ends up adopted and living with a single man that knows he has memories of a past life), emotional outbursts and enjoying things a kid would etc.
So I guess I'm looking for something that shows emotion, isn't afraid to pull at heartstrings and exploring how it'd really be and feel to be reincarnated as an adult into a child's body, while also being affected by being an actual child now.
Thanks for any recommendations! š
Hey guys! I need some more audiobooks to add to my collection, I listen to them all day while I work so I go through them quickly! I'm a contemporary romance lover, have yet to get into the fantasy side so am currently looking for contemporary recs for now. The spicier the better, I love why choose, mm, academy, dark romances, etc! I'm honestly not super picky, I've enjoyed almost everything I've read, and will get through a series even if it slowly gets worst! The only book I didn't continue the series of so far was the LORDS series, wasn't a huge fan! Thanks in advance!
Hi, I am fairly new to this community. I enjoy listening to podcasts while at work, but I recently tried listening to story-based content. I listened to Where the Stars Fell and really enjoyed it, especially with the different voice actors and sound effects, which helped me visualize the scenarios even with just listening. I'm looking for more audiobooks like this, so if you could recommend some, I would really appreciate it!
Any genre with WLW is fine!
Hey there! I am looking for an audiobook narrated in a southern accent. Any suggestions?
I'm currently listening to pucking around by Emily rath on Spotify but one of the narrators voices are just so annoying and I don't like it like nothing against the story it's just doesn't fit the vibes imo but I don't wanna dnf the book I like the plot and am enjoying the story so far I just find his voice annoying, idk who the narrator is that I find annoying but I'm on chapter 37 and I'm struggling to get through it because of the voice actor. So I guess my question is how do y'all finish the chapters where you find the voice actor annoying? And again nothing against the voice actor
I currently have audible premium plus (the $14.95 plan) but due to financial strains, I am looking at downgrading to audible plus ($7.95) ONLY bc I have my subscription paused. Itās set it renew again in a few days and wonāt let me āre-pauseā it again without renewing first. So 2 questionsā¦
is there a way to āre-pauseā or extend the āpausedā subscription without it renewing first and having to pay?
if I downgrade do I loose access to the free āborrowedā books I have through the premium plus subscription and if so how can I check and see which books I loose access too? (So I can save the titles in my phone till I can afford the premium plus subscription again.)
Time-Marked Warlock, produced by Soundbooth Theater with a full narration, is on sale today!
https://www.audible.com/pd/Time-Marked-Warlock-Audiobook/B0DCCH3RYV
"Groundhog Day meets The Dresden Files" is how the book is pitched, and it's an urban fantasy about a warlock who has a pact with Chronos, a god of time. The warlock rewinds time in order to catch criminals and solve murders!
I'm so super excited about the deal! It only lasts today, though!
Hey guys Iām looking for zombie apocalypse audiobook recommendations where itās from the zombies perspective. Like I want the main character to be the zombie!
Iāve started playing lancer (ttrpg mech) and I was trying to see if I could find something to listen too
Hey everyone! I dont use Reddit often, but im looking for ways to grow my audiobook/storytelling youtube channel. Ive seen mixed things about using reddit to self-promote, so if thats not a good idea, what are some other way to go about doing so? I always post on facebook, discord, and send it to friends and family(twitter, instagram, and tiktok dont seem to do anything). I put a lot of work into it(i write, narrate, and voice act for them) and would love to see the channel grow and see my stories get out into the world so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I'm looking to buy a dedicated digital audio player (don't want a phone) and I'm 90% decided on getting one that runs Android for the ability to download a great player app, Spotify, etc.
Anyone have any experience with either the Sony Walkman NW-A306 or the knock-off HiBy Digital M300? The HiBy is about half the price, but I've had mixed luck with no-brand Chinese products. (Though in this case it actually has better reviews than the Sony)
Hey, guys! I recently downloaded an audiobook and tried to listen on my Android phone's MX Player Pro. Even though, the cover is visible in Files by Google, the player doesn't display the cover, just a blank icon! I searched Reddit for the possible reasons and I chanced upon free/freemium audiobook players. I tried them one by one, and I noticed some displayed the cover while some didn't. In the process, one audiobook player (sorry I don't remember the name, I have a ?bad habit of removing not-useful-for-me apps from uninstalled app list in Play Store!) extracted audiobook which was placed in one folder into subfolders based on author, title, then audiobook file itself and jpg file of the cover. I didn't like that kind of messy structure so I uninstalled the app but the folders remained. It was then that I got an idea, renamed the extracted cover photo the same name as audiobook and voila, the cover appeared in MX Player Pro! Hope this post helps people facing the same problem like me š!
My 9yo kid hates books, but loves to watch storytelling on Youtube, so I try to get them to get into reading through audiobooks. They speak Hungarian and English.
Likes: Five Nights at Freddyās, Melon Playground, Subnautica
Earlier likes this year (special interests always change): LEGO sets and movies (especially Ninjago), Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Jujutsu Kaisen, Bloxfruit, One Piece, Inside Out, Moana, the animated movie Home
Hates: being lectured š also hates things that they consider too āchildishā, gets very upset when feels like an adult is ātalking downā to kids. I tried to get them into Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, it didnāt work
My kid is autistic and has ADHD, so I think a book has to be pretty damn good to keep their interest (they are listening to readings of the FNAF book right now).
They tend to like horror, like FNAF, which is a coping mechanism to them. But I want to be cautious with this.
I donāt want to make big investments until I can see a spark of interest, so right now I am lookig for free / cheap audiobooks. Apple Books, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube could be good (we have subscriptions to these sites).
A friend who works for a spotify-like company mentioned that Audiobook narration is already done mostly by AI. Companies use narrators' voices to train ai models, and use it to generate the audiobook. The product is still marketed in the narrators's name because people don't like knowing it is an AI narrator.
Have you listened to any audiobooks recently that felt ai but were marketed under a real narrators' name? Have you noticed any narrators that have become very "prolific" recently?
Hiya - could really use some advice. So I have been contracted to produce a romance book for an author on ACX for royalty share. I am not worried about making money from this as I am just building my portfolio at this time. Before I signed the contract the author warned me that there were some 'spicy scenes' and asked if I would be okay with this. I had read the reviews on goodreads that said it was only 2/5 on a spice scale and not overtly explicit. I said I was okay to record these as I genuinly thought I would be fine - it is a job and like I said I am building a portfolio. However, I have now read the book and it is more explicit than I was expecting with some very taboo themes. I don't typically read romance so maybe I am overreacting - again I would be okay narrating some lighter stuff but this is pretty intense for me. As the author already checked in with me about this and I stupidly agreed should I just bite the bullet and record it - maybe its something to laugh about with friends eventually or should I look into dissolving the contract? Other people on here have spoken about dissolving contracts but thats typically because the manuscript is incomplete rather than because of the content so I could really do with some advice. Thanks.
I'd like to listen to this book, I see two versions and I'd like to know which version is better.
I want to listen to American Gods and just saw that there was TV tie-in edition. I was wondering how it compared to the OG in terms of story and narration. Is it worth the credit or should I save the credit and just listen to the full cast production I already have in my library?
Audible.com and .ca have a 3 months for .99 and a $20 credit until December 2. Great deal!
Is anyone looking for a blinkist account for free? I just got the black friday deal and can add another account that gets premium for one year as well.
I want ad free and unlimited access to every book in history without having to buy each one. Iām okay with a monthly subscription.
Hi! Never listened to a smut book before and looking to get into it. However Iām reeeeally not into fantasy shitā¦ or murders or serial killers or gory horror type books. Whereās the normal ones at? Lol
A friend recommended butcher & blackbird and after the first paragraph I turned it off. Dead bodies and serial killers? Hard no for me.
Literally everything Iāve been seeing is either about dragons, horrors, fake animal characters or far fetched and non relatable eable settings.
Can you let me know some normal, two people longing for eachother and finally bang - in a normal every day environment type book?
I want it to be spicyyyyy and the spice content can be heavy but please - no dragons? Wtf. lol
I donāt know what it is but Iāve never been into movies/books/shows that take place in alternate universes. I just feel like itās a waste of time to listen to things that are so far fetched and unrelatable. I like storylines where I can genuinely envision myself as the main character because it takes place in a normal world lol.
Thanks!
I'm going to download The Three Body Problem from audible, which is the best English version, Luke Daniels or Rosalind Chao?
I didnāt upgrade (or downgrade as the case may be) my account, I was holding out until they force a change. The last few weeks Iāve been driving back and forth through the rural area I live to visit my dad in the hospital after surgery left him in the ICU with complications. As a rural resident, I ALWAYS download anything I want to listen to because the cellular network isnāt consistent. Twice over the last two days books I had downloaded for the trip started buffering when the cell service got spotty, and basically refused to play until service got better.
The entire point of downloading something is so I donāt run into this problem. If I canāt do this and keep something running, there is absolutely no reason to keep subscribing at any level.

Like if the book says the engine revs in the background would we hear the spof reving in the background if that makes since, almost like a movie but just for listning
Any suggestions for dark humor.(Dave sedaris) Bonus points if it's also horror. No young adult please.
So did you listen to anything good this week? Or something so truly terrible you want to warn other listeners?
Please include the following information: Author, Title and Narrator.
Why does identifying the Narrator matter?
Often books will be recorded with different narrators for different regions (ie. Harry Potter was read by both Jim Dale and Stephen Fry) or produced by different publishers (ie... Elizabeth Moon's books were produced by both Graphic Audio and Tantor). It is extremely helpful to other listeners to know what version you are sharing to avoid confusion.
Links to a source are welcomed and encouraged!
Overdrive, Audible, Downpour, Librivox, etc... It doesn't matter the source, as long as the Author, Title and Narrator are easily identified.
I just want some really beautifully written fiction that isnāt too heavy or requires too much brainpower. A few things Iām interested in reading about: Greek mythology, stories told from the perspective of animals, nature, historical stories (but nothing that involves racism/bigotry). Iād prefer something that isnāt romance-centric.
apologies in advance, since this is a very specific query that i have. i use libby, and i have seen a few threads here recommending fairfax county as one of the largest, cheapest collections we can get access to as out of staters. when i start the process im asked to choose a āhomeā library. the obvious choice is fairfax regional, but i dont want to pay 28$ and accidentally get a card that has access to a tiny collection by choosing the wrong āhomeā library. any help would be greatly appreciated. i can always try the ole phone call route, but i suspect folks here will have more direct answers than the good ppl that work at the physical location in fairfax county.
I'm looking for audiobooks that can keep my mind off things and help me drift to sleep
My preferences are:
Something vivid and detailed so that it's easy to create the scenes in my head
Something grand, magical, and fantastical. An adventure maybe like lotr but I'm open to try other things
Something that's not set in a desert or hot place
Would prefer if the story is not a solo adventure, either protag has companions or is maybe constantly meeting new people
A female voice
Either from YouTube or Spotify, I've heard of Libby but it's unavailable in my country. Open to app recommendations as well
I'm still new to audiobooks and the only book that I've tried is The Art of War by Sun Tzu
