Was looking at NXTPaper but they seem hard to get and $$. maybe a samsung? thanks in advance.
WARNING: if you get big feelings when someone criticises your favourite manufacturer for half-baked features, stop reading now.
I am a simple man - I want a tablet to do precisely two things:
To accomplish this, I have the following requirements (which even a mid-range phone from half a decade ago can meet):
These are VERY basic requirements, which almost every mid-range phone from half a decade ago meets. Should be easy, right? Well, here's what I found:
So I guess that leaves me with Samsung. I don't like Samsung's UI. I'm a digital designer and OneUI is not for me. Luckily I'm also pretty resourceful and thought I could get around most of it. I picked up a Tab S8 and Tab S9 to try. Installed Theme Park, and off I went.
So all in all, a complete bust. Even the top tier Android tablets are pretty poor. I think I'm going to give up and just get a super cheap tablet for my smarthome controls, with only one profile, and a separate Windows laptop or Chromebook to use when travelling.
Guys, I’m totally losing my mind. I don’t know which tablet to buy for around 330 euros. I was planning to buy the Redmi Tab Pro (8GB) with a keyboard and pen, but I saw some bad reviews recommending the Redmi Tab 6 instead. However, it seems a bit outdated, and I have doubts about software updates.
Now, I’m considering a Samsung tablet, which is slightly more expensive, but I’m willing to sacrifice some specs to stay within the 330-euro budget, including the keyboard and pen.
What would you suggest?

I need a tablet but then I wouldn't be able to connect my printer to it as it is a wired printer (no wifi). My brother is suggesting for a laptop but i really need a tab. Suggest what should I do.
I bought the turbo thinking it would be a beefed up pro. Got it and the software is neutered and doesn't let you split apps or have floating windows. I have tried nova and a few other launchers but it doesn't give you those options. I still only get app info or lock when i try to split.
I have searched for alldocube launcher or version of android and haven't been successful finding it. Anyone know of a solution to this? Other than that the tablet seems great.
Almost all OLED screens in tablets use a display flickering method to control brightness, called PWM dimming. Also the flicker frequency for the OLED panels are usually at a range 60-240 hz which is low enough to worsen eye strain and probably bad for eye health even if you dont notice it directly. Since tablets having spacious screens the issue during prolonged usage may be a big factor.
We all know that Amoleds are getting more popular, having deep blacks and good color saturation but in my perspective that benefit seems to be outweighed by the danger that the flickering causes. LCD panels usually either have no flicker or the frequency is very high at 2000+ hz or way higher so doesnt contribute to eye strain. Some LCDs that use a low frequency flicker should also be avoided but those are uncommon.
Just made my transition away from the apple ecosystem that I've been locked in for years.
Good to be back in open systems almost 9 years later a lot changed in a positive way.
I would've preferred tablet similar to the pixel 9 pro XL clean vibe. But unfortunately the pixel will not have continued support from the Google team.
Torn between the Samsung tablet 9 or 10 series versus the OnePlus pad 2 and the Honor magic pad 2 as it has a great screen and functionality it seems. But then the question is it's longevity in terms of updates, support etc.
Therefore appreciate your thoughts, suggestions ?
I was looking for a budget tablet for watching movies and youtube looking for something with the best screen for under $300 USD. Was looking at the xiaomi redpad pro but was wondering if there are any other options to consider?
I recently bought a Lenovo Legion Y700 2023 off of AliExpress during the 11.11 sale probably like many of us. It's the CN ROM version. I did some debloating and installed Google Play since I am in the US. For the most part I think this tablet is great and functioning like expected, with one exception - 5Ghz WiFi.
I first noticed that 5Ghz connection tends to be really spotty, slow, and will disconnect often on its own. This tablet does not have issues with my 2.4Ghz connection.
I did some research and saw that it could have issues with certain 5Ghz bands, although I saw some conflicting posts on whether it's the high or low bands that it has problems with. I tried it both ways by changing the channel on my router and felt like high bands worked better at the time so I left it at channel 153. This worked well for about one evening after a restart on the tablet.
The next morning disconnection and slow speed issue came back on 5Ghz without me changing router settings. Restarting the tablet didn't help this time so I am at wits end.
Does anyone here more knowledgeable have any advice or tips for me? At least 2.4Ghz works well for now so I deleted the 5Ghz network to prevent it from auto switching back.
Do you have any idea on how can i fix this?
I watched reviews on yt about Lenovo Legion Y700, Xiaomi Pad 6s Pro, One Plus Pad 2, Samsung Tab S9, Vivo Pad 3 and I can't decide plz help me
(Some BS I thought about) I think it's the best to buy gaming tablets/phones rn coz I don't see diff about 8 gen 1 and 8 gen 3 might be slightly better only diff I see is storage
I've done a fair bit of reading reviews and other peoples usage scenarios and I think I am decided on the Redmi Pad Pro.
Before I pull the trigger, is there anything "better" out there or on the horizon?
I am an old Kindle Fire 10 user. Have been for a few years. It does much of what I want. However I had to unlock the google play store for some apps (sideloading didn't work well) and the kindle 10 really struggled once it was loaded with the google stuff. I won't buy another Kindle, partly for this reason and also because their Fire 11 has removed the headphone port and that annoys me.
I am after: large screen, expandable storage, headphone socket, decent enough battery for a 10 hour plane journey with a mix of reading and films. I might play low end games, but these would be low end. Click and point adventures etc, possibly emulation of older things PS2 and below, but this is not that important (I have a dedicated emulation device for this).
Mostly it would be youtube/VLC/movie streaming services. But the option to use it for work, very occaisonally with the ability to highlight in medical journals would be handy. I believe the pen would allow this?
Redmi Pad Pro my best bet?
Hello!
I'm a first year secondary education student at Tarlac State University and I am planning to buy the redmi pad se 8.7 for the mini tablet or the poco pad for the regular tablet? Mainly just for pdf viewing, basic e-book reading, to watch netflix and basic microsoft apps usage to review since I prefer digital stuffs over traditional stuffs, which makes the bigger screen useful and will be using till i graduate. What should I buy? The redmi pad se 8.7 or the poco pad?
The older one would probably benefit with higher specs and I'm not super concerned about a really robust case for it. A pen would be cool, but not required.
The younger one would need something with some kid friends case options, but I don't want a piece of crap tablet.
Definitely hoping to get something without bloatwareband as stock Android as possible.
Just wondering if anyone who has the Gen3 tablet already can test to see if it can use a USB controller like the Galileo G8 on one USB and a USB storage device (microsd reader or USBC pendrive) on the other USB at the same time? Its my understanding that the 2023 version was limited to only 1 device at a time so the 2nd port could only be used for charging. If I can use both my Galileo and a USB micro SD reader at the same time I think I'll get the 2025 version but if not I'll just get the 2023 version.
I plan on buying a new tablet this December. My first option was the Xiaomi Pad 6 with all the good reviews I've been seeing. But I'm still skeptical with its longevity as I plan to use it for note-taking, occasional gaming and for general entertainment. I'm prolly using it more frequently since I'm in college. Should I proceed with the Pad 6 or do any of you have better recommendations in the same price range? I'm fine if the stylus is separately sold.
How is Acer for OS and security updates?
I read a couple of comments stating that there hasn't been any security updates on theirs.
I'm buying my 9yo a tablet for Christmas - he had a base level Doogee and it just hasn't lasted, the internal workings actually seemed pretty good, but the construction let it down and the power button is damaged. He wants it for the usual stuff - mainly gaming. But we want something sturdier than his Doogee, but we aren't looking to spend a lot. So I'm looking at Samsung, Xiaomi, and Lenovo. Thoughts, input, and maybe some other suggestions would be appreciated Thank you
hello! I just want to ask if it's just me wherein there are certain instances where my lenovo legion y700 2024 notifications flickers? I just forgot to take a video from it but it was blinking/flickering.
So my idea is to connect my new (on its way) lenovo y700 2023 to an USB c dock that has two monitors, network and power charging.
Does anyone know if this tablet can recognise both monitors? I know it can work with one really well, just wondering if I can take advantage of the extra real estate.
If no one tried it, but is curious, I will test it out at work when I receive it 😅
Thanks!
Looking for the newest possibly, that's available used.
Thanks.
Hey everyone - I just found my old Android tablet, an innopad i10 from a decade ago. It is still in really good condition, but runs a little slowly for obvious reasons. Is there a way I can update it so it's useful/worth selling perhaps?
Thank you :)
I am a student living in Canada and I'm thinking of investing in a tablet for taking notes. I probably won't be multitasking and definitely won't be gaming.
I was originally interested in the Galaxy tab s6 lite (2024) for 230$ CAD, but I don't want it to be laggy in 2 years due to the 4GB of ram.
I am now looking at either the Pixel tablet with 8GB of ram for 389$ CAD vs S9 FE with 6GB of ram and S pen for 399$ CAD. I am interested in the S9 FE as its has the pen support and Samsung notes, however I don't know if 6GB will be enough in 2 years.
Thank you for any responses!
Hello folks, as per title, do you think buying a Xiaomi Pad 6 today at 250 euro is a decent choice considering support/medium term?
Main purposes:
- light gaming (mostly Balatro and Slay the Spire really, PS2 emulation a nice to have)
- media consumption
- reading
Hi guys, there is any news when samsung will release Tab A10 ?
