Fire tablets are not Kindle e-readers. Amazon dropped the Kindle name from the tablets a few years back. Head over to: r/kindlefire

Upgraded via eBay from pw7 to pw10, keeping the pw7 as a backup. Liking the dark mode on pw10.
Just finished reading this book, it’s my favourite book of the year, glad to have read this book on the kindle
Hi! Did anyone else experience this? It says error 999.
I started reading the Cosmere as per Brandon Sanderson’s suggestion on where to start reading.
I had watched his 2024 YouTube guide so here I am reading The Final Empire as my first book.
It felt magical to fit the Cosmere universe on this beautiful compact device. It’s just amazingly magical.
Thinking of a kindle kids of my 9 and 5 year old. Would it be ok for a kid as young as 5 ? Anyone wish they had a color screen? Both kids read a lot of books.
I just pulled my paper white out after a while of just using my oasis. I charged it up and opened the book I was reading and there is a bright white dot in the screen. I have kept it in my sock drawer since I got my oasis in 2022. It wasn’t exposed to anything that could have damaged it that I can think of. I am confused to what happened. Has anyone had this same problem and were you able to fix it, or do I just live with it?
Okay, weird question, I get it. I purchased a kindle for someone else and I was planning on adding a few of their favorite books onto it. The issue is: where I purchased it with my Amazon account I am worried that once they set it up the books will be gone. I am open to side loading; I have used the send to kindle app many times to shop epubs to my personal kindle. Any tips? Where it is a gift, I would love to not open it if possible.
Hey everyone new to Kindle. I’ve been looking into possibly adding fonts; however, I’ve noticed a trend where Bookerly is fairly favored. Tbh, it is my daily driver and also a favorite of mine. Is there other fonts that are similar and worth downloading? I have a feeling I’d be disappointed with anything else and probably should just stick with Bookerly 🤔
I know Amazon CS has said for a week now that there is a software update coming that will supposedly fix the yellow band and the ghosting. I’m willing to see if they can fix it with software, but I realized I have no idea how we know when they have released a software update? When I try to look for the most recent software version on Amazon it’s saying it’s like 15.16 something and I’m already at 15.18 so I’m not sure I even found the right place to find the most recent version. Is there a way to get notified when there’s a new update?
She was gifted the kindle a few years ago and has loved using it. Recently she will press the button to close the screen, go back to it and press the button to turn it back on and nothing happens. The only way she can get the screen to turn back on is to plug it into a power source. She’s tried pressing and holding the power button and it does nothing. Plugging it in is the only way the screen will turn on. Anyone else had this issue or know a fix for it?
Having a hard time finding comics that load full screen on Colorsoft.
Which comics have you read that take advantage of the full screen?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a little pouch I can buy somewhere, I'm wanting to throw my kindle in my bag, but don't want anymore scratches on it 😭😭😔😭
I have never been much of a reader so I was very wary of purchasing paper weight. I have bought shit I dont use many times and it took me years of wanting one to finally push the buy button on Thursday.
Finished the first Volume of Dragon Ball and I now started to read Harry Potter for the first time.
I used to read books like Hatchet, Game of Thrones or Lord of the Flies.
So far Harry Potter is great and I am loving it. Seems like the start of a new habit.
Anything I should know about Kindle?
Writing on my phone, so pardon the organization, but for about 3 hours, I had both a CS and new PW and wanted to share:
Link 1: 0% brightness on both
Link 2: dark mode on both at 11 brightness, warmth on Colorsoft set to match PW as much as possible
My Perspective: the paperwhite screen is a lot more even, with no yellow band, and much crisper. Dark mode is also much better and closer to black on PW.
However, the paperwhite had really bad ghosting, especially in dark mode. Also, the PW made some covers look worse and more blown out since it couldn’t resolve details as well.
The
Colorsoft display is definitely more blue-hued than the PW, which I don’t love. Increasing the warmth to 4-6 got it as close as possible, but it was more orange than the natural look of the PW screen.
I ordered the paperwhite in the first place, expecting to return my Colorsoft due to:
the unknown wait time for a replacement re: yellow bar a blueish/grey tint to the display as a whole always needing to use a backlight due to poor contrast
My paperwhite came perfect, but two things in a plot twist actually caused me to return the paperwhite and keep the Colorsoft waiting for a replacement:
ghosting on PW was noticeably worse, especially in dark mode. Not sure why. Perhaps the color is forcing the Colorsoft to do more full refreshes.
I just couldn’t give up the color; gut instinct took hold, and I just liked the experience of seeing color more. This was the biggest one. I felt like I was losing something and wasn’t willing to give it up now that I had it.
I realised I was naturally gravitating towards using the backlight on the PW indoors as well, even though it was lower brightness. Figured I might as well get used to just making it a bit brighter on the CS.
Perhaps I’ll get a Kindle Basic at some point for when that contrast is really important.
Okay, so I’m looking forward to buying the new Paperwhite 12th Gen Signature Edition and I’m also considering buying the wireless charging stand, but I kinda plan on using it not only for charging but just as a stand for reading in general, especially during long sessions. I’m just a little concerned that if I use it this way when it doesn’t necessarily need to be charged if it will affect the battery in any kind of way? If anyone has experience with it, that would be great! Thanks!
i posted last week about getting my new paperwhite and loving it. well. that only lasted a few days and i noticed that it had an ombré effect where the top was more blue than the bottom and it had a yellow tinge (see left kindle). i reached out to chat support via amazon and they asked for my serial number & immediately offered a replacement or refund. it was a really easy process- it came in & is noticeably better (see right side kindle) so im happy for now but will be keeping an eye to make sure it stays like this.
Is it worth buying paperwhite 12th gen right now?
KindleScribe: Do workbooks let me write in them (saved/interactive)?
I have a Kindle Paperwhite SE. When I go to purchase new books, there are a bunch of titles that aren’t currently available. Until recently, this only happened once with a book that was region-locked. Now it’s every other book I search for.
I’ve tried a few troubleshooting methods - restarting the device, syncing the device, checking my location settings, checking for any filters, reconnecting to the wifi, etc. The only thing I haven’t tried is de-registering and re-registering the device. I’ve seen this come up as a solution, but it’s always under posts where ALL books are showing as not currently available so I’m not sure if it’d help me.
I’m not sure if it’s region-locked, as the title pictured in this post is available in translated editions, just not in English. I live in New Zealand.
Has anyone had this? How did you fix it? If you couldn’t, did you get any answers as to why so many books appear to be unavailable?
My friend is having the same issue. She tried to purchase a book that I own and have read on kindle (it’s still in my library) but it said it’s not available.
Please help!
What happens if you keep your kindle in airplane mode for one day. You read as usual but your activity is not updated on the server. Does that break your consecutive days reading streak?
This is from this morning.
I thought this was comical. I decided to talk to customer service about mine today. I decided to wait for them to send me a replacement when one becomes available.
It’s a floating glitter case for the PW 11th gen!
The first PW SE I received had a stuck white spec on the bottom of the screen. The replacement had a Yellow gradient issue, Second replacement has the f*cking stuck white spec on the screen.
I am so f*cking pissed. Planning on returning all of them and reading on an iPad.
I traded in my PW 6th gen which wasn’t that bad.
Am I being too picky and should just keep one of these?
