Wife is a PGR in a Govt Hospital, and It's Breaking Her

My wife started her specialization 6 months ago as a PGR at Lahore General Hospital. She did her MBBS from a public med school and has always been ambitious and eager to learn. But this job is draining the life out of her.

Her unit is severely understaffed, so she’s constantly on emergency duties and "special Sundays" every other week. She hasn’t been able to visit her parents in over three months because she rarely gets more than one consecutive off-day. The workload is crushing, yet there's barely any learning. Seniors and consultants often don’t show up, leaving her and other juniors to handle everything on their own.

On top of that, the hospital is overcrowded, and she’s verbally harassed by attendants almost every week—patients' families demanding attention, sometimes getting aggressive. It’s relentless.

The situation is so bad that in the last two induction cycles, no one has willingly joined her unit. Anyone who gets assigned finds a reference and gets transferred. We tried using whatever limited connections we have, but our referral wasn’t strong enough to get her moved to a better unit.

We can’t leave the country due to personal reasons, and at this point, I don’t know how to make things better for her. It’s taking a toll on both of us. She cries every other day on the way to the hospital, and it’s affecting our home life too.

Has anyone been through something similar? Is there any way out of this?

Where can I get authentic matcha powder in Pakistan?

I’ve found some matcha powders on Daraz and other sorta sketchy websites but I don’t trust the authenticity of these and the reviews aren’t positive either. If anyone knows where I can REAL and AUTHENTIC matcha powder in Pakistan, please lemme know.

(P.S: I’m not talking about a cafe that sells matcha drinks, but actual matcha powder which I can use to make matcha drinks at home).

What's up with Hania Amir?

Hi everyone, your friendly neighborhood Indian here! Many of us are obsessed with Pakistani Dramey, and love your suits and shalwar-kameez, and for us, Hania Amir is pretty much a cute style icon. But I have seen it in her comment section multiple number of times, that apparently she is an irritating pick-me. Any reason for that? Not sure if this is the right sub to ask this Q, but would love your honest opinions. TIA!

Slavery & Child Abuse among Transgender Community: Buy a Child for "Rs. 20,000" Only

The Guru-Chela culture is the biggest evil of Pakistan's Transgender Community.

The pro-LGTV brigade keeps defending it as "our culture".

Well here is the truth of this "rawayat".

I, honestly, am not a blind fan of this woman...

BUT when it comes to raising voice against such abuse, she's doing God's work 👏

Just like child abuse is wrong among Madrassas, it's wrong among protected communities as well.

No such person should be allowed to roam free whether under the garb of religion or "protected/oppressed community".

Pakistan’s Biggest Problem

We always talk about the problems in Pakistan—corruption, inflation, unemployment, poor education system, lack of healthcare, energy crisis, law and order issues, and so on. The list goes on.

But if you had to pick just one as the biggest issue holding our country back, what would it be and why? More importantly, how do you think it can be solved?

If there's an example of another country that faced a similar problem and successfully overcame it, feel free to mention it. Maybe we can learn something from them.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

An objective rant on Pakistani dramas

1- There is a lack of genres. It’s all oriented towards family stories. I have asked a lot of people in the industry about this and the excuse they give is that production is not top notch that is why we don’t do action, sci-fi or horror. While I can understand. I disagree because horror as a genre has always been low budget. Look at any ip. In addition there is no philosophical or artistic ism in the script writing. As a result many dramas are bland and the same.

2- annunciation- this is a huge problem. When they take an actor with an “educated”background they can’t play a working class character to save their lives. On the other hand if they pick an actor who may not have command over English, no matter how much they dress that actor up it’s immersion breaking… why can’t this industry hire accent and dialect couches. I am sorry if the actors are offended by this, fucking kick them out… there is so much money in this industry, why are they not investing in their project…

3- scripts. Don’t get me started on the script. Everything has to be said. There is no expression in acting… same old same old stories.

4- lack of diversity in terms of age. I recently watched a British tv series, called Broadchurch. With Olivia Colman in it. Her growth into a street cop to the head of her precinct, just phenomenal work. She looks the part. She is the right age for the role. I am so done with actresses in their 30s and 40s playing characters who are in their 20s. Please write stories about women in their 30s, 40s and 50s. They also exist…

Every time I have the opportunity to ask someone from the industry to discuss they give the same standard answers that we don’t have the money the facilities or our audience will not like it. Am I the only one who thinks that this is a lame excuse…

This is honestly an absolute disservice to culture and art… you have countries like the Philippines and Thailand (arguably similar to Pakistan interns of economics) making horror and thrillers. Honestly I see students from NCA breaking the mould only to be put back in… I see actors and actresses who don’t want to go under the knife being type casted. WTAF!

Need some advice on marriage related issue

Assalamualaikum everyone. I hope you guys are doing good. I was wondering if you guys could maybe give me some advice.

I am a 30 year old Canadian Citizen born in Pakistan, living in Canada. I graduated from Software Engineering two years ago, and since then had been looking for a job. Unfortunately, in 2021 my mother passed away, and this combined with the no job, friends leaving me just left me very down on life.

This mostly affects me since i am a type 2 diabetic, and due to no money, lack of caring and overall unwillingness to care about stuff, my health became really bad. I gained weight at an alarming rate, and my constant anxiety issues make it feel like i am having a heart attack.

Now on to the matter at hand, my father lives in Pakistan, and he is pretty sick atm. Due to my age, he wants me to get married with my cousin, who is also around 30. With my health condition, I do not want to marry a cousin ever. Not because I think they are bad people, i just can't risk my children's health in that way. I am passing no judgement on people who marry cousins, my own parents were cousins, but scientifically I am not willing to take the gamble due to my own health and family's health history.

Another reason is mentally, im still a bit fucked. I do have a job now alhamdullilah, but after graduation in Software Engineering, this was not a job i expected. I am still happy with what have, but it does sometimes ruin the motivation again. Also, i am a very awkward person, and consider myself really unattractive that i have never dated anyone either.

I have explained the reasons outlined to my father, but instead of hearing me out, he just emotionally blackmails me, saying stuff like why would i want someone who doesn't respect him.

He made me talk to my cousin on Whatsapp, and I've explained all of this to her, but even her is like basically jo Allah chahiye wo hi hoga.

Do any of you have advice on how to handle a situation like this? I am unable to sleep properly, i just want my dad to understand my point of view. If he can't understand that i don't want to marry a cousin, I'd much rather not marry at all. I am content in dying without any children or wife depending on people for help after me.

Hostel life 101: how to lose a roommate in one night

So there i was first night in the hostel excited to start this new chapter of life. I had just set up my side of the room my laptop, sheesha, and a carefully curated playlist of Madam Noor Jehan classics when my punjabi roommate said burrrraaaah and left for his night duty. Perfect timing.

I called a few sanghis over you know, just to celebrate the start of hostel life. A little sheesha some deep philosophical discussions about chili mili and amrood jelly and before we knew it the boring room had transformed into a fun place. More sanghi’s joined when they heard “silsilay torr gya wo” some old boises some new faces. A couple of swifties also showed up which was, let’s be honest a hostel miracle.

But then our new roommate the fresh-outta-home, wide-eyed university kid looked at us like we had summoned a demon. He asked us to leave. LEAVE? from our own room? bro this is hostel life not our nani ka ghar. My sanghis even tried to reassure him k “cheetay welcome to hostel living. Yeh sab chalta hai. Chill kar”

Next thing we knew he vanished at 3 AM probably off on a heroic quest to find inner peace in the common area. In the morning he was gone bags packed, dreams shattered, hostel slippers unworn.

Now every time i think about it i wonder… did we just introduce him to the realities of hostel life or did we accidentally send him on a spiritual journey? Either way respect to my homie wherever you are. Hostel life isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. Some people chase dreams and some just chase the last bus home.

British Pakistanis please chime in!

Hi all, I'll get right down to this as fast as possible. I wrote a book recently and one of the side characters is a British born Pakistani woman. I grew up in the north of England and a large percentage of my friends were (and still are!) Pakistani (I am white) and I love this character so very much - I want to do her justice in the next book.

I'm writing another book in this series and this side character is becoming more prevalent. I know that over 90% of Pakistanis in England are Muslim, but many of my own Pakistani friends are not practicing Muslims - and though their parents and some family members do practice, many of my friends are not held to these standards and are free to live their lives as they wish. Some of my friends do identify as Muslim but don't practice as avidly as other Muslims that I'm friends with. Is this common within the Pakistani/British Pakistani community? I am wanting to make sure I write this character authentically and I wouldn't want to offend anybody with my portrayal of this character or for anyone to read the book and be like... how unrealistic, this author has clearly never met a Pakistani person.

Thank you in advance for any insight you have on this!

Why's it so common to love other people's children but not your own?

I've seen it way too much in Pakistan. Idk bout other countries though. Parents will give everything for a kid who's not their own but won't give a shit about their own kid.

Like my nieces and nephews often come to our house and my mum and dad will show them so much love even if they're disrespectful and hurt them.

As a kid, I once told my mum that her answer on my homework was wrong, I got a slap and a whole ass lecture and a hungry night. My niece, i get it she's a kid, hit my mum hard on her nose and my mum's nose started bleeding yet my mum just kissed my niece, nothing else. I don't say that she should slap my niece but atleast something. Like wasn't I worthy of some love too?

The niece I'm talking about is one of my female cousin's daughter. The cousin and her sister always got attention from my parents. I was like 7 or younger, I asked my mum if I could sleep in the same room as her and dad, she said sure but when it was like 9 o clock, I wasn't asleep and she just left to go sleep with my cousin cuz she was scared. I get it, my cousins deserve love too but am I srsly that shitty? Like what do they have that I don't?

I asked my mum for a paratha last night cuz I hadn't eaten anything throughout the day, I got a lecture and a paratha that she slammed on my table. But when my cousins asked for food, my mum immediately went and cooked food for them, it was 1 AM, I asked for food at 7 PM.

A few years back when I was attached to my dad, I went to his friend's house with him and when his friend's son bullied me, my dad didn't care but when I told that kid to stop and I pushed him back like gently just enough to make some distance, I got a whole ass lecture and my dad wouldn't talk to me for months.

Thankfully, now I ain't attached to any of em. I do love em and all but why's it that Pakistani parents love other people's kids more than their own. They treat their own like they're some experiment while others like a poor person driving a rolls royce being very careful with it.

One Night in the Hostel: A Lesson I’ll Never Forget.

After finishing 12th grade, I moved to Lahore to study at a private university. It was my first time living away from home, and I stayed in a hostel near the campus. I was excited but also nervous, not knowing what to expect. But that first night turned into something I’ll never forget.

I shared a room with two guys—one from Punjab and another from Karachi. Around 10 PM, as I tried to sleep, the guy from Karachi called three friends over. They brought sheesha and, as I later found out, drugs. The room was soon full of smoke and noise. I asked them to leave, but one of them said, “If you want to live in a hostel, you’ll have to deal with this.” By 1 AM, two girls also joined, and the room was crowded. My Punjabi roommate was on night duty, so I was alone with six strangers. They turned off the lights, locked the door, and kept doing what they were doing.

I felt trapped and helpless. At 3 AM, I left the room and spent the next seven hours sitting in the common area, cold and alone. The next morning, I packed my things, left the university, and went back home. I joined a university closer to home and decided to travel daily instead.

Even now, as a graduate, I can’t forget that night. It wasn’t just the noise or the smoke—it was the feeling of being stuck in a place where I didn’t feel safe. That one night taught me something important: sometimes, it’s okay to walk away. Hostel life isn’t for everyone, and that’s fine. What matters is finding a place where you feel comfortable and can focus on your dreams.

Let’s Unite to Report & Unsubscribe Ducky Bhai, Talha Reviews, Rajab Butt & Other Toxic Family Vloggers

Have you noticed the kind of content that’s trending these days? Channels like Ducky Bhai, Talha Reviews, Rajab Butt, and a bunch of other so-called “family vloggers” are being watched in our homes. This is the kind of stuff that’s influencing younger generations—cheap drama, toxic fights, and mindless entertainment.

Is this really what we want our kids, siblings, and future generations to look up to? Is this the standard of “content creation” we’re willing to accept?

It’s time to take action. Let’s unite, report, and unsubscribe from these channels. The more engagement they get, the more they’ll thrive. We need to demand better content and stop feeding into this garbage.

If you agree, drop a comment and let’s make this movement bigger! 🚨

Is this what the establishment is afraid of?

Is Imran Khan likely to take similar action against those involved in his and his supporters persecution over the last three years? Some, especially PTI supporters have pointed out similarities between Trump and IK.

Do you guys think, this is the reason why the establishment will not allow IK to be free and come in to power again?

Is this or similar "justice/accountability" needed in Pakistan, for Pakistan to recover from where it stands today.

PS. I'm not for any politician, I'm for Pakistan. I'll support anyone who'll take Pakistan towards it's potential.

Why is a fully bald man treated worse than balding?

28 M here and have been thinning since I was 22. It’s been slow over the years but now it’s gotten to the point where it’s a wrap. Went to umrah and came back with a shaved head & all my friends boasted about how good I looked with a good head shape & facial features. However… my parents refuse to entertain the idea of me keeping the bald look as well as my relatives.

The western world says if you’re balding then embrace it. Pakistan says if you’re balding then keep it. Do girls really hate bald men vs balding?

I fear of a moral decline more than the economy. Morals are a part of law and must be.

Once in a discussion, I was told that economy is the most important thing for our country, I simply refused to such a statement and said that morality is something which is much more important than the economy for any nation.

A prosperous nation isn't which have all tbe gold and diamonds, nations which are prosperous are somewhat peaceful because they have a good justice system. Justice is a form of morality.

Richness of the elements does not bring about peace in any society. There must be an intelligence of high moral standards to become peaceful and that is impossible without correction of the justice system.

You can take an example of any nation which you think is prosperous or peaceful, but at the same time such nations lack morals to many extents because the justice system in those nations arn't completely applying true justice.

A human has such rights which are enough to make his/her life in a total protection. Such isn't being applied everywhere on earth. We see prosperity of some nation and at the same time those very nations are damaging others.

This is called double standards. True richness is meant to be spread by the rich. The richness of resources, intelligence and man power of any nation contains, that must be utilized to help those around or the needy.

This isn't happening anywhere in the world. There are double standards, there is racism to top it off. Do you know why many nations have been kept malnutritioned? Because of some war reasons. The Crusades, Knights Templar just to name some, have propogated for centuries for wars.

Hence we are here where we see a well planned structure of todays world, nations which were single and large enough, are dispersed and divided due to some reasons. I know some of you might get angry upon some statements. But you can simply see by one single example how the products sold here in Pakistan, India, Africa or other developing or underdeveloped nations are much harmful but not in the west.

Nations are confused and hungry for power, authority, while some only are happy to stay as they are. But a moral decline is because nations fail. When they forget about humanity and start living a life of a power struggle which in time blinds their very own power of thought.

Pakistan is a nation which needs to imporve it's justice system, this is where we start to get better. In English laws, morals are separated from law, but Islamic Juresprudence puts some morals as laws, so we are lucky to have some moral standards yet we are failing and declining because we have forgotten ourselves.

You can take any example of a household where the economy is strong but they lack morals, are they successful? Where there is no positive stratrgy of life matters and where the only thing they care about is the economy? Such is the situation ot nations. Morals should be a part of economy/strategy and law..

Where based on moral values, the economy is maintained and generated. This is the only way to have a prosperous nation. It's no joke that many nations have been kept poor on purpose just to maintain and enjoy war booty that many already profit through. A king never stays forever and the same way no nation can enjoy power forever as that's against the law of nature.

You can imagine Pakistan having high moral standards and see how beautiful an idea of high morality for a nation is. That's some magnet to the economy itself if we try to apply it here. Pakistan can go poor in economy but poor moral standards will only make it weaker than ever.

How are the morals today? Where the elder and the younger arn't respected or treated as they should be based on justice. Where humanity isn't considered at all, and that all people think about is the economy. Where family, friends and the society have no care for the moral standards of how to treat people or how to behave in the right manner. These are things we should think about so that we become a better version for ourselves and the society.
