Noticing when watching net sessions and matches about Shaheen and Naseem

Shaheen Afridi: He is running in fast and falling over in practice. He is still running in fast but he does not look in rhythm. the jump and action are not in sync with the runup. It seems like he is putting all his energy running it then bowling pies at 130 kph. He was running it slightly slower a few years ago but his action and snap of wrist were much more in sync and he was, in the highlights i was watching, getting up to 147 kph. There is a huge difference between 137k and 147k max speeds in a spell.

Naseem Shah: he seems to be too focused on what his grip is before bowling the ball, too focused on his mechanics rather than naturally bowling, his action looks a lot stiffer than it used to as he is he bowling after looking a cheat sheet with images how to bowl rather than bowling in natural manner. his running in and the jump is also not in sync similar to Shaheen Afridi. he seems to be running in slower than what he used do while his action is still in a rushing manner he used to have

none of these bowlers have the runnup, jump and snap in sync. I don't know who is looking at this but it seems like no one is addressing it. Looks like they are just running up and bowling instead of thinking, am i being too mechanical and not natural?

Unpopular opinion, but we need Imam-Ul-Haq opening in Pakistani conditions

Before y'all say stuff about his Geo contracts, he is in talks with the PCB chair about returning for the champions trophy and this is great to see, especially with Fakhar also looking for his return for the South Africa series. Saim Ayub is a T20 player, and I'd rather have someone like Imam-Ul-Haq opening, alongside Fakhar

new chairman before champion trophy?

So it looks like trump is winning this US election. I'm hearing that means Imran Khan will be back. Does that mean mohsin naqvi will be sacked soon? I hope it happens after the CT if at all. Also I guess any effect to pak government won't immediately take place maybe it'll take a year

Afghan fan at mcg

I saw a video on Instagram of a an afghan at the mcg during the pak vs aus game abusing Nadeem. He got kicked out by security but like wtf is wrong with these cunts. He said something in pashto about gulbadin trying to get on naseems nerves and I think got kicked out the stadium after Naseem complained to security. Anyone seen the video? It was on my feed on Instagram, not sure where it is now

Shaheen's pace confuses me

I've been watching his closely for the last year or so and I've seen flashes of the old Shaheen during the PSL and World T20 where I saw him bowling around 140-148 kmph more often enough he's bowled around 125-135kmph range. Is he unable to bowl 140+ consistetly, will he ever bowl that quick again with the aid of rehab?

The higher camera angle in Australian broadcasts makes the bowling look genuinely scary

Is it just me or does it look like every ball is a potential wicket . Especially with how tall the Australian bowlers are , all the balls look unplayable . Australian broadcast is elite , probably the best there is and coupled with the stadiums and pitches in Australia , the quality of matches is top tier . I hated the pitches in India where all the scores would go above 350 , ideal score should be 270 and there should be competition between bat and ball .

Positives of Today

  • Babar looked very fluent and in good touch until he got out

  • Irfan and Naseem played brilliantly but Irfan got unlucky with his runout

  • Irfan is a gun fielder

  • Shaheen was slow but accurate. 2/43 from 10 overs was a very positive contribution

  • Rauf looked expensive, but I’m pretty sure 15-20 of the runs he conceded were from edges or missed chances. He looked unplayable in his 2nd spell

  • Team looked energetic and fired up in the field. Not what we usually see

  • The short ball plan was poor imo, but Rizwan was very involved in dictating his plans

Overall, the bowlers did pretty well considering how low the target was. Hopefully we can win the next game

Excessive criticism on debutants.

No doubt about the fact thay Pakistan's batting collapsed today and youngsters like Saim, Kamran, Agha and irfan didn't really contribute much.

However it is pertinent to note thay many of these were on their debut or even playing for the first time in Australia, where itself its difficult to adjust to the pitch and face such lethal attack.

I think they should be given a fair run and not be dropped and left aside even if they aren't able to perform in the next games. Give them confidence that we are giving you for example 3 series( around 10 matches) to prove yourself at this level so that they don't succumb to the pressure that that they'll be dropped after an innings or so.

Persisting with your talented lot of player will bear your fruits instead of haphazardly changing them now.

As for Abdullah, he's experienced enough now to be able to cater the conditions, constrivctive criticism on him is valid

Pros and Cons from Todays match

Pros: Bowlers made sure we had runs to compete with and they deffo competed with the ball😭

Babar Looked a million bucks before he went into his shell idk if it was due to Rizzy or good bowling.

Irfan Khan Niazi fielding, only if he caught that first inglis chance but that was tough

Rizzy proactive captaincy

Cons:

No Babar big score

Our batting is to negative, Babar was the only one in the top order taking the attack to the bowling and they can’t beat australia whilst being defensive.

Bowling was to expensive and we need to cut down extras

No middle order big hitter and no openers who acc want to make a run 😭

Bad ground fielding

Feel free to add more or grill me in the comments.

Middle order batting opinions

Ik this loss is on all the batters esp the openers. But i just thought is kamran ghulam a no.5 batsman cus we are setting the tone with this team to the CT. Hes not a power hitter, idk if he can handle the death bowlers. He may negotiate with zampa a but other than that what do you guys think about him?

We have got 4 players (babar rizzy agha kamran) playing the same kind of game. Shouldnt we mix something up in the squad maybe someone like muhammad haris.

Imagine a scenario you need 50 runs in 24 balls you reckon kamran can go big? Agha maybe. He can hit some shots against pace like he did in tests.

P.s. it's just a discussion. I dont hate kamran i just think hes a no3 or 4 batter. Not below that.

Finally a Pakistani took a stand on IPL in comm box

Wasim Akram was asked by Australian commentators how much a certain player might go for in IPL auction and Wasim Akram response was I am not interested in IPL. The commentator asked why and Wasim responded, because we are excluded from it so i don't follow it anymore.

Given the problems of our top order mainly the openers.Should Fakhar Zaman return?

Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique have been dreadful in odi’s.Both are clearly struggling in Australia. So is it high time that we drop either one of them?If so should fakhar zaman be given a central contract immediately and called to australia.Or if either Saim or Shafique were to be dropped, should pakistan open with haseebullah or move kamran ghulam to opening?

Irfan Khan Niazi the most underrated of today match?

He gave it his all in the field and also was just getting started with his batting, just if it weren't for the slip up he would've probably added another 20ish runs. His efforts in the field (Almost saving that six which I believe wasn't a six) and his three catches showed his valiant efforts. A very good find.

Sirf pace hi zaroori hoti hai?

I remember Muhammad Asif once said:

"Pace doesnt matter that much nowadays because today's batters bat against bowling machines that can provide them bowls of upto 150kmh, so by constantly practicing against that pace, they learn how to middle the ball at that pace. What does matter is your control over the ball."

Idk kya mentality hai bowlers ki to try and pump as much pace as they can behind the ball jabke aj kal Pace barely scares anyone. Every batter is extremely used to pace.

Coaches should teach our bowlers to gain full control over their balls. Having full command over the line, length and swing that youre gonna be bowling is what'll catch batsmen off guard.

I am Happy...

Yes I can probably go;

"If this, If that, If him"

Well..

"Agar meri ammi ke paas balls hote, toh mere abbu hote so..."

Maybe it just me, but after such a bad slump of cricket these past months.. I am happy to see we're atleast fighting back again.

Shaheen was actually alot better than expected, technically he got 3 wickets because that runout was definitely deserving. His pace might be an issue, but he's shown some hope atleast..

Hasnain was commendable, and he can probably improve as time goes on.

Naseem's batting was so fucking good man... his knock is the reason we were in the gamd at some point...

His bowling on the other hand...

I mean he showed promise at the start, but he got quite frustrating to watch as more overs were bowled from him.. also why tf is this guy made from glass yaar...

Haris Rauf man... I genuinely doubted him, but he proved me wrong and presented a fiery performance today.. I just wish he can be consistent with this energy, cause that's the only thing holding him back.

I don't have much to say about any of the batsmen, as they were mostly all underwhelming.

But Irfan deserves a shout out for his awesome fielding.

Also.. I already know there are going to be various comments under this post about how we are chokers and all..

Which is true.. but I don't think we had any chance as long as Pat Cummins was in the playing XI. That guy is just a friking Chad and there's no much we can do against that...

I didn't expect much from our team, but atleast they fought back and Rizwan got a pretty debut as captain...

The only thing I'll say is that we desperately need Aamer Jamal in the playing XI for the next two matches.

Batters being abysmal aside , there are some major issues with our bowling

Two things can be true at the same time. Naseem isn’t fit enough for longer format cricket. We bowled 21 extras in 30 overs whilst they bowled 4 in 46 . Haris Rauf went for 7.5 rpo at the mcg . Have you seen how big that ground is ?!? Shaheen was averaging 131 , Mir hamza bowls at 130 . Guess who plays domestic regularly and has good line and length .

What to take from this loss?

  1. Put Rizwan in nets & ask him to play whole over on off stump balls

  2. Saim Abdullah need to be taught how to open like Aussie openers, inko bhi net mai daalo aur singles to lena sikhao

3)Maybe a proper spinner should be in

4)Amir Jamal or Jahandad should be adjusted in, a pace & batting option

Babar and Ramiz started a short lived golden age

The main issue we have currently in our country and the cricket team is immense politics, nepotism and unrivaled amount of corruption. I know this subreddit loves to hate on Babar Azam and Ramiz Raja, but under these 2 our team actually became internationally recognised as a team worth competing against, there was full security for the players as Ramiz gave the captain all the control and freedom to do as he likes. And we played multiple knockouts due to it. Before Babar, other than the anomaly of the champions trophy, we weren't winning jack sh*t, people here love to hate on Babar and Ramiz, it seems most of these people are post COVID kids because those before that cannot possibly hate on that team knowing how bad we were. We used to be number 9 back in 2015 for God's sake. It used to be a dream to even reach semis or knockouts for us. When did we have the audacity to complain about winning trophies? How many have we even won in the past? Some of you guys are so self entitled and delusional it's unreal.

If you are to be real with yourself the 2021 WC till 2023 Asia Cup (when Zaka Ashraf took over) was the peak of our cricket in the last 2 decades.
