At this point, it's not uncommon for overseas Pakistanis and their children to lose touch with Urdu, hey, it's a given that language will dwindle with time. But, my question is, how many of you are willing to improve/polish your kids or relatives Urdu?
Quick Question: How many parents here would be interested in something like this for their children? And if so, what age range do you think would benefit most?
I’m posting here on behalf of my mom, who’s considering launching an online academy specifically to help overseas Pakistani kids connect with the Urdu language. She has over 30 years of experience as an educationist, working as a teacher, principal, and administrator, and she’s Cambridge certified for teaching and development (CICTDL). Given her background, she’s excited to start something that allows her to share her expertise in a way that supports the Pakistani diaspora (Ages 5-15).
It's going to be less about rote-learning or traditional Urdu exams, more about actually being able to speak the language confidently with good pronunciation and vocab. It's going to customized and one-on-one.

Any feedback or suggestions on what you’d like these classes to cover are very welcome! Thank you!
Hello, I applied for an EVisa for my infant daughter, and it’s been three weeks since I last heard from the consulate in Pakistan. After submitting the application, they requested additional documents, which I promptly submitted on October 19th. Since then, I haven’t received any further communication. The application status online is “In process,” but they haven’t responded to my emails. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
My only question is, while renewing the passport, there's a required for uploading a copy of Nicop for the underage applicant. If for some reason you don't have it, is it alright to upload a copy of passport page on it. Will the passport still be renewed?
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
Due to an emergency i have to travel to Pakistan. I have a new born with NICOP issued by Nadra. But i cant wait for the passport as i need to travel. Will my baby be allowed to travel to Pakistan without his Passport. I live in Uk.
Hi all! So as a fellow overseas Pakistani, I’m curious to hear from you all about your experiences having lived abroad
What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced since; and how have you been able to overcome them (if you have)?
Do you consider moving back at all?
I’ll start us off -
One of my biggest challenges was moving to Azerbaijan when the locals thought our country was “dirty and smelly”
Don’t consider moving back in the near future due to geopolitical situation and things are way too different there; however I’d love to own property or a business there
I am a Mechanical Engineer with 3 years of work experience. I have been offered AED 6000. Is this enough or I try to negotiate for more as I tried for more but the employer is saying that cost of living in RAK is significantly lower than Dubai or Abu Dhabi. If employer remains consistent on this amount should I go or not?
I heard on excellent (though often depressing) The Thinking Muslim podcast with Imam Dawud Walid that somewhere between 25% and 30% of Muslims in USA are "indigenous" African Americans with ancestor that goes back over 300 years in the US.
Do OSP Muslims interact of socialize with such people? Malcolm X (RA) is of course a huge hero to many Muslims, as is the boxer Muhammad Ali (RA), and Imam Siraj Wahaj was in the late 1990s a much loved and listened to 'western' scholar with his booming beautiful voice and speeches.
But I get the sense that the Muslims diaspora are not that engaged with this hugely significant community.
In the UK there are an increasing number of converts to Islam among the white population and they are forging their own communities and creating centers of learning. The most famous of these is centered the Cambridge Mosque and Cambridge Muslim College. Norwich is also home to a very active 'white' Muslim community. Do you have similar in USA?
Is there anyone here from Pakistan living in Ras Al Khaima. Please provide estimated cost of living there. I will be single person so what will be my accomodation cost and how expensive utilities are?
Do overseas Pakistanis feel at ease wearing salwar kameez whilst in overseas countries? I guess this question is more for men, but comments/experiences from everyone welcome of course.
In the UK in urban areas it is not rare to see people in salwar kameez. I even know people born and bred there, in established professions who only wear salwar kameez. One guy had a very senior post at a top education establishment, and even attended meetings with government ministers in salwar kameez.
When I'm in the UK, if I am in and around a large town or city, or am going to be traveling between such places I don't mind wearing salwar kameez. But if I am going to be going to less diverse areas I will always wear trousers/shirt etc.
I have never experience racism on account of wearing salwar kameez in the UK.
HBL needs my SIN number to open a bank account. I have already provided the information on my source of income. Why do they need this information? Can I share with them? Is there any rule in Canada prohibiting the sharing of SIN outside Canada?
Salam Everyone, I recently got admission in University of Adelaide and will be moving there in Feb 25 InshAllah. It is my first time coming to Australia and have no idea about anything over there. I have a few questions.
How can I get accommodation before even coming to Australia.
How much savings should I bring to sustain myself initially.
What things should I immediately do once I come over there
Essentials that I should bring from Pakistan.
As a Software Engineer, can I hold part time jobs considering my limited hours
I have couple of questions regarding attestation of my matric and intermediate documents. I am going to attest my original certificate/sanad from ibcc but should i also attest the photocopies of said documents? and if yes then, how many? and what would be the benefit of attesting these documents (original and copy) if i am abroad? How would they benefit in future? I have already attested my bachelors degree from HEC and i mean bachelors degree attestation makes sense, but why matric and intermediate?
VISA - Any Additional Information Required?
My wife has recently been granted a VISA! We got the email confirmation alongside a PDF which contains the VISA.
It took some back and forth and they were even requesting bank info but we got there in the end.
However, as someone who doesn’t wish to be caught out, are there any additional documents we need to provide to Immigration at DXB when we arrive or is the printout of the PDF sufficient?
VISA Type: Tourism - Single - 30 Days
Hey guys did anyone of you all move to Australia recently? How has the experience been. Specially the one in the software engineering field. How is the job market etc?
Have an expired NICOP and traveling to Pakistan next month. Going to apply for renewal now but don’t expect it to be in hand by the day of my flight.
I see many posts and links about using a NADRA renewal slip for entry but what actually is this slip and how do I get one? And will the airline in the US accept this and allow me to board?
Any Pakistanis in group who are living in countries from SEA. From so many articles, most countries from SEA are ranked on top for remote workers. How true is that.? How's life there and what do you do. Also mention your country.
We have a house to sell in Islamabad. Living in America, we're concerned that we won't be able to transfer the money outside the country due to the current freeze from the state bank of Pakistan.
Have any of you had success selling real estate abroad? Was it in your own country or did you go to someplace like Dubai?
I'm shifting back to Pakistan from the UK, and I need to send my belongings (3-4 suitcases) back via a shipping company because airline baggage is too expensive (30 USD per kg!). Has anyone had a positive experience with an international shipping company? Few options I've seen are sendmybag, DHL and the post office but they all have pitfalls either with price or a bad process for handling Pakistani customs.
Folks living abroad, what country would you suggest is a good option for moving out on a student Visa, preferably in tech related fields.
What are the pros and cons of moving to the country you're currently liviing in? Here's what I am looking for:
Hi All
I am based in the UK and have applied for renunciation as my work place does not allow dual nationality.
The whole process was a headache but I managed to get all my supporting documents sent.
The whole process is confusing as to renounce my pakistan nationality, I needed to cancel my nadra card, but in order to do that I needed my renunciation certificate.
I have received an email back from NATIONAL DATABASE AND REGISTRATION AUTHORITY that my Pak identity application has been deferred due to a missing document, which is the renunciation certificate. I then went back to the embassy and they have said that this is normal and there the two applications are separate. That once I get my renunciation certificate I can then upload this and cancel my nadra card.
Does anyone know any information about this as the whole situation is confusing, and if I don’t have any update for my work place I will be out of a job and struggle to provide for my family.
Is there any way of tracking my renunciation and to find out if it has even been sent off?
Thanks
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I miss home.
I've spent almost all my life abroad. I've live across Europe from the time I was a child.
I appreciate that Pakistan is far from perfect and that my parents made sacrifices to give me a good education and a good life. I'm not complaining about that.
I feel however that Europe will never be my home. I went to school here, I grew up here I went to university here and I work here but I think as an outsider no matter what you do you can never belong.
It's not even a matter of being accepted it's more so that I am very aware that this isn't my home.
I want to hear the azaan and my mother tongue spoken in the street.
I want to be somewhere that I belong and am welcome.
However, I've been back, lived there and spoken to people there and realised they don't really consider me to be Pakistani.
I'm a guest in my own country.
So I've no place here and no place there.
Does anyone else who's lived overseas for a while feel this way?
I live in the UK and have an expired NICOP, it has been some decades since I last visited.
Sadly, one of my relatives is very ill and I need to travel to them within the next few weeks. I will reapply for NICOP when I am not on a time crunch but for now, I applied for the visa prior to arrival, which has no processing fee, and it registered as 'granted' within minutes.
The only information the visa on arrival took from me was: my details, my parent's details, the nature of my visit, the dates for travel, where I will stay (I selected staying with relative and provided the relatives details including their citizen number), a copy of my passport.
I am slightly in shock that it is granted just like that. Is there a catch? I am anxious I will get to the airport and something will go wrong like:
-The airline will not accept this 'granted' application and not let me fly
-Will there be further documents needed such as copies of family passports, bank account statements etc for immigration when I arrive? Or is it really that simple and that's all is needed?
Just seeking some reassurance as it seems almost too quick but then I wonder if my details are measured against some database and NICOP holders automatically get approved?
Salam everyone,
I am a 16F who is interested in applying for medical colleges in Pakistan after graduating from highschool next year.
I have been researching for months on how to apply for said colleges, but it is SO confusing.
For one, I live in Australia, and they have no information on how I can submit my information (i.e grades, certificates, etc).
I have tried emailing, calling the relevant places, but no one is responding.
Has anyone successfully applied for a Public medical college, specifically from Australia?
If anyone has any relevant information, it would heavily appreciated!
I applied for my executive NICOP online, and after one day, they asked for my brother's CNIC, which I uploaded. My application is on hold, and I am asked to visit the Nadra counter, which is far from my city, or call, but whenever I call through Google Voice, it gets disconnected after 1 minute.
I'm in need of some advice. Has anyone else experienced a similar on-hold issue with their application?
Status: Your request against tracking id ***** is on hold, please contact NADRA office <pak identity> or call at 051-111-786-100 for assistance
Update: Anyone from your family in Pakistan can call on your behalf and get an update. Also, the tracking from 8400 number is accurate.
Update: I got my card; the issue is that they need my brother's CNIC for verification. Other than that, it's pretty smooth and delivered fast. (delivered in 4 days to USA)
Hello All -
I am a US Citizen, was in Pakistan last time in 1991 when mom passed. I have an active NICOP. Dad passed a few years ago, and all matters have been settled. I have a business client who insists I visit him in Mumbai this February 2025. I have been to India a few times already, but recently in order to issue a visa, they require a renunciation certificate. While I can apply, they have asked me to be clear on the letter from me on to why I want to renunciate. Does this forum have any advice on how long that letter should be, or how much detail it requires? Any assistance would be appreciated!
I was in a long distance relationship with a divorced guy from Pakistan. Now, he wasn’t "really" divorced because he never actually consummated his marriage—just did the nikah part, no rukhsati, and all that. He shared all this in the beginning, but what he conveniently left out was the fact that he came from an absolute train wreck of a family. Long story short, Things got super messy later, and surprise, surprise, it all escalated, and we broke up. His mother was also a victim of domestic violence, and as I started connecting the dots, I realized something crystal clear: this guy was just an opportunist. His grand plan? Marry me, get a blue passport, and then probably wave goodbye. Well, thank God I dodged that bullet. Similar thing happened in his 1st marriage as well.
But here’s where the real fun begins. Now my parents, who have clearly seen me on this never-ending roller coaster of bad relationship choices, are pushing me towards marrying my first cousin. Yes, you read that right. It's not considered something common in the US, getting married to your 1st cousin. He's away for the most part bcoz of his work. Now, marrying within the family was never my first choice, honestly, I never even wanted to consider it. But hey, given my track record with relationships, I guess my "choices" don't really matter after I had met this sick retard in previous times, right? So here I am, mentally forcing myself to just "go with the flow" and agree to what my parents have planned.
So my uncle (his father lives in Pakistan) who hasn’t visited in forever, finally came to meet my family, We’re part Afghan from my mom’s side, So, after meeting them, my future father in-laws had the audacity to make the most disgusting comment. My "dear" future father-in-law, in all his wisdom, said, “Haan, jab meray betay ka rishta aya tha, (let's assume his name is "A") — tumhare liye, toh lagta hai tumhari ammi ne tumhari baaqibehnein chhupa di hongi. Kahin woh tumhari chhoti behen ko na pasand kar le.”
Excuse me? What kind of backward, insulting nonsense is that? As if my mom had to "hide" my sisters so they wouldn’t steal the spotlight! In all of this, "A"—my supposed future husband (I hate even writting this down, him as my "future husband") —was sitting right there, saying absolutely NOTHING. Not a single word to his father, not even a weak defense.
In Islam, the relationship between a daughter-in-law and her father-in-law is supposed to be one of modesty and respect. But clearly, some people think they can just throw common sense out the window and say whatever nonsense pops into their head! I mean, why bother with facts or decency when you can just talk without a filter, right?
So now I’m thinking, if this is the nonsense I have to deal with before marriage, do I really want to sign up for this?
Sure, they won’t be living with us after marriage, but who wants to be attached to such toxicity? Small issues happen in every family, fine. But this? This is about making me feel insignificant and insecure about my looks. And if this is how they are now, what happens when a bigger issue comes up? If "A" couldn’t even take a stand for me over this petty, insulting comment, what am I supposed to expect in the future? Should I really reconsider this whole marriage idea?.
As a pakistani, in pakistan which countries can you visit or immigrate easily. Jin k visa wale aap ko lootte nahi hain aur laga bhi dete hain? Asking as a bachelors fem from basically no income of my own
