Hello i have just started preparing for step 1 and I'm having trouble studying these two resources side by side.I dont know how to go about them.
Should I study 40 questions from Uworld and review the same topics from first aid and annotate?
How much time does it take you to review a block of uworld . Its takes me 8-10 hours :/
How do you make uworld notes ? It's so much knowledge and takes a lot of time to annotate on first aid.
Any advice would be such a big help.
Guys what do you think is a better option? I'm preparing for Mdcat but will keep them as my second priority. Also i want to go into teaching, i mean teaching at a med school or nursing school. So can you suggest which would be better?
I am ton of hair. Seeing them going away hurts. I am 22 and I have started balding a lot already. I've tried hairfin but it doesn't fit with my body whenever I have taken it for a month. I get infection in my intestine. What are other good alternatives?
I have lots of supplies and my 3rd year supply result isn’t out yet they are asking for marks and hope certificate on online registration so should I just put my supply marks in and apply or wait for the result to come out? Also what are the chances of making it with supplies, 2 in second year and 2 in 3rd year… ?
I'm preparing for both the AKU test and the MCAT test. I know Punjab board is supposed to be better but if I use federal board books instead of MCAT books, how much difference will it make?
Hello, I just completed my house job recently and now I am motivated to start my USMLE journey.I plan to take the step 1 exam next year and wanted to ask if it's a good idea to proceed with this journey at this stage. I'm interested in family medicine and internal medicine. Along this journey, I plan to publish more in PubMed indexed journals as well ( already have 2 published and 3rd is on the way)
Do I have a good chance of matching if apply for the 2025 match?
So I started my house job in June and due to some emergency I have to go abroad for 1 month will it cause any issue when I will apply for PLAB according to GMC If anyone knows about it kindly guide me I will be thankful
How are you supposed to study for Fcps-1? Which books to use? Are you supposed to go through all the books or do selective topics?
I am deeply apologetic for the delay. Life has been insanely busy. As promised, here is a break down for all of those interested in pursuing residency in Germany
To start things off, most of us have always been keen or interested in pursuing residency in our home countries or the more popular choices of the United States, UK, Ireland and Australia. However, being IMGs or International Medical Graduates, or not being graduates from the countries stated above, our applications are viewed differently, and we are left scrambling, hustling and grinding with extremely limited options and basically settling for whatever program is kind enough to take us in.
However, the paradigm is slowly yet surely beginning to shift where medical graduates are seeking broader horizons and more exciting opportunities in European countries.
If someone asks me why Germany?
I tell them besides the excellent quality of life, supreme healthcare, and great compensation for Doctors despite taxes, (at-least better than Pakistan) is simply the fact that i can work hard to get into my residency program of interest and not settling for Internal Med and Family Medicine.
This is especially applicable for those of you interested in pursuing surgical specialties and the more competitive ones too.
A very brief step by step guide just for your overview
Residency in Germany or anyone aiming to pursue specialization AFTER MBBS in Germany
First and foremost, assess whether you’re committed to learning the language which is a gradual process, will be accompanied by it’s own unique challenges to each and everyone of you, of course myself included.
If you’re ready to take on the challenge of
learning the language we’re ready to roll
3* Germany wants a B2 certificate only, so you need not take the other exams, however 2 states out of the 16 On a case to case basis do send you a DFB on A2, so it’s a hit or miss. Can be discussed further.
4* Selecting a state purely depends on you, some people select a particular state as they may have family there, or close by, some select a state as it might have a big popular cities with a lot of immigrants. However, the most essential factor for selecting my particular state, is something that will help me or atleast enable me to proceed with my main purpose of coming to Germany i.e Residency. I chose my state cause the FSP passing rate is higher there, having said that does not mean that you will not pass in other states. Furthermore, i have friends who were already based in that state and they were in the best place to guide me accordingly.
Also note, this is for one particular state, the steps will have a slight variation in different states
Hope this helps! Open to more discussions and answering questions.
Moving to pakistan with my almost 5 month baby - and need a really good pediatrician for checkups/vaccines/growth checks
Ideally UK or US trained but not a must if the pediatrician is good
hey everyone! I'm third year medical student and want to do electives during my summer break. Can someone pls guide me about good hospital in twin cities for electives and what are their eligibility criteria. thanks.
Assalamualikum Do you guys know or can you refer any lady doctor in Lahore who isn't a butcher basically??
Don't get offended yet. Hear me out.
I want to find a lady doctor for a close relative who happens to be expecting in 3-4 months.
Unfortunately the doctors i know or have had experience with seem to prefer operations for delivery instead of trying for normal delivery. Small medical issues which a qualified doctor should be able to rectify are not solved. Position of child in the womb, Umbilical cord wrapping etc. Are prime cases for emergency operations. Then they pull the gun that patients life is in Danger or baby is going to die/suffer medically. And we allow them to do whatever they need to milk us and fork out money for them.
This certainly helps doctors financially but is extremely detrimental for the expecting mothers. Natural deliveries don't harm overall wellbeing & health of mothers. But this butchering certainly takes them earlier towards their graves.
So, do you know any good lady doctor who applies Ethics in real medical life and not just because it was a mere subject to pass exams??
Hoping to hear from you guys soon. And I am not sorry for being blunt regarding butchers. May they_________. Aamen
What are the advantages or disadvantages of either one of them?
I am a graduate of private medical college and now i am planing to do my housejob but I am so confused right now whether to do hj in my own institute (it isn’t that well known but I will get paid ) whereas all my friends are going to pursue their hj in government hospitals (where I won’t be getting paid but more exposure ) I also want to prepare for PLAB exam so any idea which option would be better for me Is housejob without pay really worth it or experience matters more ? P.s sorry for ranting
Hello everyone,
Hope you all are fine. I am a 2nd year MBBS student in a medical university in Punjab. Our university does not give a damn about researches. Since, I plan on going aborad or doing FCPS ( which has marks for research ), I plan on doing research.
However, I have no idea about research since we dont have many seniors doing it.
Can anyone here guide me on where to start and how things work.
Thanks in advance.
