Watching the Persian gulf pro league

Hello everyone, my granddad (that I unfortunately never really knew) was Iranian and was a fan of esteghlal, so I was looking how I could watch a game from the club, but I couldn’t really find it.

So my question is: is there a way to watch the Iranian football league outside of Iran? Preferably with English commentary. I live in the Netherlands. Thank you so much!

Looking for song title

I was showing this song to an Iranian person and they said it is based on an older Persian classic or whatsoever. I am not that familiar with Persian music so I was wondering if anyone recognizes it.

Very friendly stray at Karaj

Hi guys,

There’s the loveliest stray at my grandma’s, she has one eye and may be a little pregnant (we’re not sure), if anyone knows any shelters or anything or knows anyone interested in a cat that would be great.

There are three other cats my grandma raised from kittens in the backyard and they beat the poor cat up, so she’d be better suited somewhere else.

Thanks!

What to do in the evenings

Hi everyone,

I will be travelling Iran for a month, and am wondering what is there to do generally for women travelling alone - but not staying in a hostel?

I will wander about the city (Shiraz, Tehran, Esfahan, Yazd, Kashan, Mashhad) and eat and have snacks, but what else can I do?

Album that Sampled Old Iranian VHS tapes

Hello,

I just remembered about reading about a concept album somebody made. They took the found Iranian VHS tapes and turned them into an album.

I couldn't remember where I read about it, but it was on a website I believe. I am racking my brain, trying to remember anything about it, but I can't.

Edit: Found it! Here is the link if anybody is interested here

Edit 2: Spotify link for the album here

Does southern part of Tehran have a restaurant culture or am I missing out on something ?

Today was my first day in Tehran. I’m aware that It’s the last days of Ramadan. I strolled around the mid southern parts of the city. Around the grand bazaar. But to my experience I haven’t came across decent restaurants. The the top recommended one around the grand bazaar was closed due to Ramadan, and I other than that, couldn’t see many restaurants around in that part of the town. There were an abundance of take away fast food shops which don’t represent the cuisine that much. I haven’t seen the “posh” north yet. But for the southern part of Tehran, does it have a restaurant culture or not?

Persian series

Hi, I'm writing from Europe and, hoping to not bother you, may I ask you preferably even the link, for series that I may watch to learn parsi? I would prefer them with "latin" alphabet subtitles to start and parsi audio and that would be "light" to watch, not super serious,

Kheili mamnoon in advance, hope to learn this language soon!

I found a rumi quote in English and I wanted to find it in Farsi, it was hard so I used ai to look it up. I'm here to confirm if it's correct or not.

Best Plov outside Iran

Which country outside Iran does make the best Plov in your opinion? Is it the Tajiks because they are Persian too and probably closer to the original thing than the Turkic countries?

Apply for an Iranian Birth certificate

Good afternoon,

so my Iranian father passed away in November last year, I live in the UK and have done so since birth. my family in Iran have said that i need to obtain a Persian birth certificate to enable me to deal with my fathers affairs ( I have a temporary birth certificate that was issued when i was a baby and need to get a full one completed) My Iranian family that live in Iran have said they are unable to help without my full Iranian birth certificate as my father didn't set up power of attorney before he passed away and only myself or brother can sort out his affairs, however we must have our birth certificates first.

I have been trying to contact the Consular service in Kensington London since November, the phone lines are only open between 2-4pm each day and no one answers, i have sent countless emails and not had a response, i have even visited the consular service twice and was told i cannot see anyone without an appointment.

My fathers home is sat empty and i'm just going round in circles. I sadly don't speak Farsi and the consular website is very difficult to navigate, google translate, translates some of the pages but not the forms.

Does anyone know if there is anything else i can do and if anyone has been in this situation and had it resolved i would be so grateful to know.

I would also be so very grateful if anyone had a link to a translator that could help me navigate the consular website.

Thank you from someone that is feeling totally lost and very defeated.

I want to tattoo this poem by Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, but in the original, in Persian. Someone help me?

I'am Brazilian, but he's a very important artist for me.
💛 I tried to find the phrase in the original but I couldn't find it on the internet. Can anyone translate it exactly as it is in English or find the original poem?

Thanks! 🙏

what is the national dish of Iran?

ok, so I am making a series where I cook every national dish and my first step is to come to the sub and ask the question.

now I understand that not every country has a defined national dish and that some countries have many different regions with different cuisines. in that case I will make the one that you guys agree on best represents Iran. please let me know what you think

Iranian poetry published in English

I became very interested in Iranian poetry some time ago, but generally speaking it is easiest to find medieval works, like Rumi's poems, they are beautiful and all, but I would like to read something new, relatively new from the 19th century to today, from the period of the last shah, revolution and now the republic, Unfortunately, I don't speak Persian, so I mean collections published in English, Polish, or Russian. Thanks in advance for any help! I love your culture!

Ringing in the Persian New Year at Shiraz's Hafeziyeh

The historic Hafeziyeh in Shiraz, Iran, is a beloved gathering place for Nowruz (Persian New Year) celebrations. Each year, crowds flock here to ring in the new year beside the tomb of Hafez, the revered 14th-century poet. This significant tradition allows Iranians to connect with their rich cultural heritage. The moment all eyes and hopes converge; the new year dawns. Amid Shiraz's beauties, a massive crowd counts down beside Hafez's resting place. A shared sense seems palpable - an inner exhilaration, anticipation brimming with hope, and yearning for a fresh start. Colors and smiles intermingle, eternally etching this special moment into memory's folds.

Visiting Iran in April!

Hello good people of Iran!

My friend and I just booked our tickets to Tehran from Bangkok. We will be staying for 8D/7N. We are currently researching for places and things to do. Our rough plan is to reach Tehran and make our way to Ishfahan and then finally to Shiraz.

I need your kind guidance to make the most of our trip.

  1. I understand that credit cards do not work. Are there any recommendations on currency exchange? Secondly, is it worth getting Iranian debit card? Are they widely accepted?

  2. For internal travel, I would like to travel by trains. Is it possible to book tickets online? Alternatively, any recommendations on booking tickets in person?

  3. My friend and I are history buffs and would like to hire guides at historical places. Is it easy to find authorised guides at historical sites? Or do you recommend we go through a travel agency?

  4. Both of us are huge fans of Abbas Kiarostami. Are there any recommendations to visit locations/sites where his movies were shot?

  5. I am also researching food and restaurants to try out. Do you have any personal favourites or recommendations for us?

  6. I am a hobbyist photographer and have been documenting the major stops along the ancient silk route for a few years. I love the history attached to the trade through Iran, especially of Persian rugs. Are there any places I can visit to photograph artisans working on rug? Secondly, I would like to buy a rug. What are the things I should keep in mind while looking for an authentic Persian rug are there any recommended places in Tehran, Ishfahan and Shiraz where I can buy a rug?

  7. I (Indian) do not need a visa according to the recent announcement of visa waiver program for Indians. However, my friend (Thai) needs a visa. There is an options for visa on arrival. What is the process at immigration? Do you recommend to get a physical visa instead?

  8. Are there any recommendations on locations to book hotels in the above mentioned cities?

  9. Any other recommendations/tips/advice are appreciated.

  10. Lastly, is anyone would like to meet up for a tea with an Indian and a Thai, please do DM!

Thank you in advance! Looking forward to reading your suggestions.
