Can you guys help me find any information about the Minister of Labor, Migration, and Public Employment of Tajikistan, Gulnora Xhasanzoda? I cannot find who her husband is or who her children are. Yes, it sounds very fishy, but hear me out. We have an assignment with our professor about politicians from the post-Soviet sphere. Any help, including source recommendations, will be greatly appreciated.
Hello, I'm from the United Kingdom: I'm planning a bicycle tour to Tajikistan next year, and would like to stay in local guesthouses (меҳмонхона) and homestays, but I'm unsure of how much foreign currency to bring. I have seen some people advising travelling with a mixture of TJS and USD, but which currency do locals prefer to be paid in? I don't want to assume that USD will be fine for everyone; or are locals expect tourists to pay in a 'stronger' currency than Tajik Somoni? I want to make sure I don't offend anyone and have the right amount of cash with me before I leave Dushanbe. Any advice you have would be very welcome: сипос!
I am familiar with how Arabs divide the Arab-speaking world into different regions (Maghrib, Sham, Nejd, Nile Valley, etc) so I wonder if there's a way to do the same with the Iranic speaking world besides languages. Perhaps not, since Iranic languages aren't as similar to each other as Arab dialects are but I'm still curious. Will try to post this question in r/kurdistan , r/Pashtun and r/afghanistan as well.
I am an American but my parents are Afghan Tajik, I can speak English and Farsi, will I be alright for traveling? Would I be welcome?
Thank you!
I’m also learning some Russian but my level is a2 at best. As well as my level of Tajik is A2 at best and Persian is in between A2 and B1. I love to listen to Tajik music :) any resources about Pamiri languages would be much appreciated as well :) ташаккури зиёд ва зинда бошед :)
Hi, everyone!
I’m curious about cultural and business differences across regions. If someone from Central Asia visited South Asia, what differences might stand out to them?
Also, if you know of any notable differences within Central Asia or with places like the USA or UK, feel free to share your thoughts!
Thanks so much for any stories or insights!
Hello, everyone!
(I hope this is the right place for this question! Please let me know if it isn’t, and apologies if I’m posting in the wrong spot.)
I’m working on a project comparing business practices in different regions and was wondering if anyone here might have firsthand insights. I’d love to hear about cultural or practical differences in areas like decision-making, relationships, business etiquette, and any unique customs. Specifically, I’m curious about challenges foreign businesses might face, general attitudes toward entrepreneurship, and the influence of local customs and values on business practices.
Thank you so much for any insights you can share!
Hello - We are looking for a private driver for next week to take us along the western side of Tajikistan, leaving from Dushanbe, and visiting Iskanderkul / Fann mountains and the lakes, Panjakent, Khujand, etc.
Any recommendations on specific driver ( or how to find a driver if not) and rates, would be greatly appreciated!!
We are Afghan and speak Dari and English. Would love someone who has a tour guide vibe in terms of showing us places, helping us understand the history, etc. would be awesome as well.
Asalom duston! Does anyone know if there are any buses or marshrutkas going directly from Panjakent to Khujand?
If not, what would the best way to travel be otherwise?
Thanks!
How about enterprenurers launching free tv channels for students across the country where the interactive lessons may broadcast grade and topicwise. Making interesting programs like young students providing free education to poor, programs about making relevant projects in home and/or institutes, program on testing foreign grain/fruits/plants/projects on different types across country, program on implementing one-house-one-farm project in rural areas, exploring and creating local businesses and works, program on interecting expatriates to implement foreign succeccful projects in home, program on making local commnities self-sufficient, programs about competition on different things among schools, colleges, universities and uniting different communities etc. What do you think?
I recently experienced another way to get a Tajikistan visa which may help some fellow Brits struggling with the E-visa system. I similarly had my e visa ‘being assessed’ the day before I was due to travel into Tajikistan. After contacting the embassy etc to no avail I decided (as I was in Samarkand, Uzbekistan) to travel to Tashkent and try and follow up my e-visa. I was directed to a basement opposite the actual embassy and waited for around an hour before I had to show my passport and letter of invitation, plus the LOIs official certificate. After a bundle of documents were printed, I was ushered over the road to the actual embassy, where my finger prints were taken and I was told $90 take it or leave it. I had to pay in physical dollars and come back in 4 hours to collect my printed visa in my passport. Whilst not the most cost effective solution, it is definitely an option for those in Uzbekistan looking for a Tajik visa. At the Samarkand border I was not even asked for my visa as I don’t think many of the border guards actually know the rules and regulations surrounding Tajik entry. Hope this helps!
Hey guys! So, I asked a question about NFS on here about a few weeks ago and I was told that NFS was popular on PC and GT was popular on PS. I was just wondering if that is the case. What do Tajik gamers that like racing games play today? I understand that racing games may not be the biggest genre and that they are niche, but for gamers who love them, what do they play? Thanks for your answers!!!
Hi, Iranian here
I'm looking for a tajik song (probably Noziya Karomatullo) that goes:
ناز کنم کم کمک، عشوه کنم یک دمک
then the crowd or singing group go :
ناز بکن نازیه هر چه که خواهی بکن
I've noticed a lot of women of Tajikistan have hair that reaches their lower back or even lower. It really amazes me as I've never seen this many women with such long and beautiful hair in other countries. Is there some kind of widespread tajik beauty secret or product that promotes hair growth to this extent?
I’m just curious to know how many Tajiks currently living in Tajikistan are here
