I was wondering if anyone with low-support autism has immigrated to Germany for vocational training? (Especially for fullstack engineering?) If so, how did it go? Does vocational training have disability accommodations like German universities do? (Also, I have a bachelor's degree, but it's completely useless as I was young, dumb, and studied English. My computer programming certificate is worthless in Europe too.)
Hi . This might not be the place to ask. So I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and anxiety / panic attacks. 10 years ago I moved to the U.S. I was born in Munich. My mom is German my dad is Turkish. I married here. I do love my partner but my anxiety has worsened since I am in the U.S. seeing the news , knowing about politics etc. I feel like my mental health worsens to the point I am thinking of returning to Germany. I love my partner , as I said and I am really in a financially stable position. I do not care about money .. it sounds crazy but I would rather have nothing than having money and being so unbelievable sad and anxious. Any Germans here that moved to the U.S. and want to return? Any Americans wanting to move back? What do you miss? What do you not miss? What would you do in my position ? Do you also feel that you can’t feel safe in the US? It feels as if people here are extremely angry ? It might just be my mental health playing tricks on me. I don’t know . I asked my fiance to come with me to Germany multiple times but he will not be able to because of his job. I have to make a choice at some point. I feel like I might be crazy for giving up , a to outsiders really good life.
I am a Mechanical Engineer from Asia planning to do my Masters in Germany next year, currently preparing my applications.
Considering the political turmoil in Germany currently, how do you think it is going to effect the intake of foreign students and the job market especially if the AfD comes to power in March next year who are against Immigration. I know it's difficult to predict, but I feel disheartened seeing the current circumstances. I have been learning German for the past 3 years and I am also going to appear for the TestDaf Exam early next year. I have devoted a lot of time, energy and resources to go to Germany for my studies, even trying to take up a lot of the German culture but I am feeling highly insecure now.
Would really appreciate your insights into this.
Hi guys, I am a non-EU student from TU Munich. I came to Germany in 2021 for my master'ss and finished my master's in October 2024. I applied for a job search visa in Munich immediately after finishing my thesis and I received an appointment from the Auslanderbehorde for it. My question is regarding my address in the application. So I had a student dorm until end of September and I defended my thesis in the first week of October after which I applied for the job search permit in the second week of October. In the application I put my address as my dorm address since I must be still have the anmeldung for it. I stayed at a friend's place for a few days in October and then have come to my home country for a vacation. I will ofcourse be going back to Germany for the appointment and will find a new place then. Now for the appointment, will this old address cause any issue since I no longer live there? And do I need to do anything else from my side? Please let me know if you know something about it! Summary: I registered for job seeker permit in October after masters with my student dorm address where I used to live until end of September. Will this be an issue? Thanks a lot for your help 😇
Hi everyone . I would like to ask something related to Germany permanent resident.
I am applying for Germany permanent resident so my situation is that I have completed all the required documents. But before I applied for it . I had an matual acceptance with the current employee to terminate the contact . So as one of the requirements for the permanent resident is employee certificate so when I ask the company for it the HR sent to me with the affect date of the termination. The question is am I still able to apply and provide this letter to the immigration or my application will be rejected.
I am thinking to apply for the permanent resident this month and my last day will be after 3 months in the current company .
Please if anyone can advice on that .
Hey guys, I’m planning to send a gift from Germany to the UK. DHL says I need to fill out a customs declaration. Does anyone have any experience with that and knows if it’s really needed? Obviously I don’t want to add a list of the gifts with its value because… well, no one wants to receive a gift with a list of prices included, right?
My first day in Germany and I have no idea how to make it warm in here. The light is blinking and the heater is making noise. I’ve had this on for like an hour now
What are your thoughts?
Living here in Germany for the last several months and I have noticed compared to the US, that I see less people working in cafes. As a remote worker whenever I got tired of being in my apartment id usually go to a coffee shop with my laptop and work without distractions for a while. It definitely seems like more people are socializing at cafes near where we live which is refreshing. But wondering where people typically go to do work in public places.
First of all, hopefully this is the right subreddit for this, if no, please direct me to a subreddit where this question will be relevant.
Hi everyone, I'm considering buying a car in Germany and was wondering if it's possible to purchase one without the added value tax (VAT), similar to how it's done in Slovakia or Czechia. In these countries, if you buy from a business registered for VAT, you can sometimes buy cars without VAT or reclaim it if you're a VAT-registered business yourself. Is there a similar system in Germany? If so, what terms or phrases should I look for when browsing for cars? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!
To anybody who says that modern politics are boring think about this day.
Trump wins. We get a new conscription Law. Chancellor kicks coalition partner from alliance. Government collapses. I would say that today was very interesting and decisive for the next few years

I'm currently starting the process to try and get an opportunity card. I just recieved a message from ZAB in regards to my application with an attached PDF and a message that says,
"The Statement on Foreign Vocational Qualification you requested is attached to this message.
Please note that this statement is not a recognition of your vocational qualification, but only provides information about it.
The statement has been signed electronically and can be verified with the digital seal at the bottom of the document."
I checked my ZAB acount and it says that my application is complete not pending, so I'm unsure what this message means. It doesn't outright say it was denied. Can someone who has gone through this process kindly let me know if this is there way of saying it was denied or if this is just what they send to everyone first before sending an official statement of whether an application was approved or denied. Thank you.
Hi,
I’m 1/4 German as my late grandmother was born in Germany in the 1920s and my grandfather was an English soldier stationed in Berlin after the war.
I’ve never visited Germany and have a lot of family in Berlin, some of who I’ve met over here when I was younger. I think this Winter I might finally come over to Berlin and stay with everybody and see the City. Also my dad can speak German so that’s something I want to try and do as well.
It makes no difference to whether I’d like to visit Germany but would I be eligible for citizenship? Something that I’ve wondered, for example I know that with football I would definitely be eligible but I understand that’s not how immigration works 😂 I know all of her details and have enough documents to prove she’s definitely my grandmother and where/when she was born.
Thanks 🙏
Hi,
I came accross kaufda and mydealz and some people mentioned about it. So, Im curious, is this a thing? Like would you really check the price before actually going grocery. Interested to hear your thoughts and how you hunt good prices for food
Hi All, We are maried couples both working(myself in tax class 3 and my wife in 5, as I earn more than 60% of the total family income).
Last month I bought a apartment(Individually without including my wife) in munich as a kapitalanlage (to rent it out not for the own use). As you know, that we can get the tax back for the nebenkosten(broker fee, notar fee, land registration..etc) of the purchase and 2% depreciation for the building.
So the question now is to better stay in the current tax class 3 or change to tax class 4, so I can show more negative cash flow (so my annual income is reduced). Which inturn increases the tax claim back?
Thanks in advance!
Or do you find this flooring in normal private apartments too. Is it cheap?
So I am on a student visa in Germany, my visa is set to be renewed on 13th November, i.e I have to go to stadtbüro and give them a passport photo, proof of funding, insurance etc so that they can renew my Ausweis. I have some urgent matter to deal with which is why I need to fly out of Germany on 5th Dec. I probably won't get my new Ausweis on time, and my old Ausweis expires on 29th November.
Is there some way I can still take my flight? Like a provisional Ausweis which would be accepted in immigration?
What shall we expect for the upcoming months? How is this going to affect the current economic situation of Germany?
Hello guys, I live in a furnished appartment. The kitchen really doesnt have much space for me to install a vented cooker hood. I also dont wanna change it too much because I am not sure about living here permanently.
However, I cook a lot of Asian food, and while I dont mind the odor of the food, I do hate the oily mist that sticks on the furniture and then it gets difficult to clean.
I then got to know about unvented cooker hoods. So if any of you use such a system, can you please share links about it, as well as where would it be the best to buy it? (Name of the shops I mean Mediamarkt/Obi/?)
Also share your reviews about it... Are there really compact ones available?
Hi everyone, I (Italian) and my boyfriend (English) are thinking of getting married soon and since we live in Germany we would like to avoid the tedious German bureaucracy by getting married in Denmark. I have read already almost all the reddit posts about it but I am still not so sure about the documents needed and since I read that there is a waiting list of 7 months if we get it wrong the first time I wanted to make sure I got it right.
For what I understood we would need:
Is that all? I have read in some of the posts that there is a "certificate of single status" document that might be need. Is it really needed if we both never married before? Thank you very much for the help!
I'm still living in a short-term rental but I've made a termin... If I rent a WG, that is, my check-in time is later than the termin time, is this feasible?
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anybody has experience of Lawyers that are pretty good mobbing cases in the workplace. I have spoken to my manager and works council but they don't seem that interested. I have applied for other jobs inside and outside the company but no success ( bit old now).
I took out insurance with Meinrecht.de sold to me by my Sparkasse bank a few years ago but when I told them when it started they could'nt help me because I had taken out the policy after the mobbing had started. I have also heard about Feather and Getsafe but there are mixed reviews.
I just want to go the compensation route now just leaving or looking for another job and they win is not an option for me.
Rossman, DM or others. Good one for daily protein intake. For morning. Any suggestions?
