Just caught this lil feller in my farm pond. I may have edited this pic a bit
Around 2-2/12 lbs Caught on a Texas rig
I’ve never fished a bait caster this slow.
Hi everyone! I’m about to finish my undergraduate degree on the East Coast and have an almost two-month gap before starting grad school on the West Coast. I’m planning to go on a solo fishing trip during this time and would love some suggestions.
I prefer ultralight spin fishing (8lb braid, 4-6lb leader) and have mostly been wading for smaller native brown trout (10-16 inches) in Pennsylvania, along with bank fishing for crappie and perch in lakes and reservoirs. While both have been enjoyable, I’d like to experience something new. So far, I’ve only fished freshwater, but my rod and reel are saltwater-rated, so I’m open to trying saltwater fishing as well.
Some options I’m considering are inland destinations like Colorado to target larger trout, or Florida (or similar coastal locations) to try ultralight fishing for new saltwater species. I’m leaning toward the South or Midwest, as I’ll be on the West Coast soon and the Northeast is too cold for my liking right now. Since I’m on a tight student budget, I’m looking for relatively affordable destinations and activities that don’t require too much new gear.
I’d really appreciate any suggestions for locations or types of fishing. Thanks in advance!
I'm planning on fishing for sturgeon for the first time and I was hoping for some recommendations for a rod and reel combo - preferably a spinning setup. What length/weight should the rod be? What series of reel is needed? Thanks!
Hi.
Just a random ,yet stoned, individual pondering this very question.
Thanks
So I went fishing lastnight I caught 3 small blue cats. I accidently left them in a 5 gallon bucket overnight approximately 12 hours are they still good to throw on ice for another 24 hours till I can clean them and eat tomorrow or is it best to just chunk em it was about 45 degrees out when they went in it. Got down to approximately 38 and is 49 as I'm writing this
Hi guys, I live in Europe and although I have some fishing opportunities where I live, I prefer going to see my friends in Norway and fish there. My problem is transporting my rods. Beach rods and surf caster rods are quite long and transport length is about 155cm. Has anyone found sturdy and big enough fishing rod case that would survive the handling of the airport personel? Appreciate any brands or tips for such travel case.
Hi Folks; I am just getting ready to book a seven day trip out to the Shoal Islands off the coast of NH. I have seen a couple of YouTube videos of the area and there are fish, but I can’t seem to find a date stamp…The trip I have planned is in late June. Does anyone have any recommendations for target species at that time of the year?? I can kayak or beach fish off the rocks on and near the Isles. Looking for lure selections, line type suggestions and such. Tight line’s friends!!!!
This shit sucks man. I've been casting my 10 foot medium light a few hundred times a session, 3-5 sessions per week lately, and it's taken a toll on my elbow. I haven't fished in a week and it still hurts like a mfer. I've tried ice, heat, stretching, and all the normal things to try to stop it, but nothing is working. I don't particularly want to use painkillers, OTC or otherwise, and definitely can't afford surgery. Thanks US healthcare! I'm going to try lifting weights again to maybe strengthen the muscles around the elbow. Hopefully that will help.
Any help is really appreciated. Tight lines y'all.
I wanted to get a 2 piece butt joint slow pitch rod to take on the plane with me. Would the spiral wrapped guides cause the joint to twist out of alignment while fighting fish.
I am looking for a cheap baitcaster under 50 dollars and I saw on Amazon they have one for 30 so I am wondering before I go buy one
BOOM! Got my own large mouth this morning.
The boy got himself a monster yesterday
I carve my own bobbers out of balsa wood and was wondering if any of you do the same. If so do you have any recommendations for paint that handles the water and wear and tear of rocks?
Thinking about getting a kayak to go fishing in the shallows and grass flats of Galveston Bay. I’ve primarily fished from the shore most my life, but now that I just moved 30 minutes from the bay, I’m seriously getting the itch to buy a kayak to explore some of the areas around Galveston Bay, West Bay, and Galveston Island State Park area. Any friendly advice is greatly appreciated. Photo added for attention. Not mine.
My brother really got into fishing this year, he’s big on lures and he’s got a couple fishing poles but I don’t know the brands to be honest with you. I know it’s obviously winter but I’m thinking more far ahead for spring and summer. A new fishing pole is pricey and he already has 3 but I know there are some good quality ones out there. I was also thinking about like replacement supplies as well? Fishing line, hooks, bait, tackle boxes stuff like that.
So guys that like fishing what would you love to get for Christmas that’s reasonably priced, under 200$. Thanks so much!
Such a cool looking fish! Caught with corn and was pushing 10lbs.
Had a few bourbons in me at that point..
All the rivers near me are ridiculously overgrown. I fish for all species but winter time I’m after pike mainly but it’s so hard to get at the river properly but I’ve found some 15 foot 9 inch rods that would be good but they are meant for sea fishing. They are 4 - 8 oz casting weight is that to heavy for pike fishing ? ( I fish a small ish river because it’s so over grown it’s about 1/3 it used to be but there is big fish in there I average 15 - 16 lbs pike
