Going through some old pictures of my dog, came across this pic that I totally forgot about. Caught this lake trout on a spinner at the firehouse on trail creek back in 2015. Never saw/heard of it before or after - had some underdeveloped skein so maybe it was going to spawn in the creek? I need the opinion of someone like professional Reddit biologist u/ballincock to display his 100% professional opinion
Going to Navy pier next week to target lake trout but the one thing i didn’t have was a long enough net. only net i could get a hold of on this short of a notice was a 4ft net from frabill. will the length be fine! let me know thanks!
I always skunk out new to fishing what are good baits to use ?
Ned rig.
Planning on heading on next week to Chi to target Lakers but wondering if ittl still be a little early. Have yet to catch one & it’s been on my bucket list for a while lol
Is my Medium Ugly Stick setup i have been using overkill for perch?
I’ve seen the drop shot setups most people use, I just didn’t know if the bite is too lite to feel on a medium rod.
Meanwhile I have yet to catch a single fish on my A rig. 😄
I was looking at fishing charters for what's remaining of this season, and most of them are closed for the year, don't do mix parties or are pretty expensive if you going in solo. I had this wild idea that maybe a bunch of us fellow Chicago Reddit fishing enthusiasts might want to get together on go on a fishing charter. I'm not very familiar with how these things work but it'd be cool if pull this off. Maybe someone can come up with a plan, we decide together, prioritize safety and do a fun fishing trip.
wheres your go to spot for active perch?
going fishing tomorrow & looking to target a specific fish. whats out specifically right now, are trout still out or are they gone?
Hello all, i was curious as to if anyone knows when the perch fishing at the 79th slip gets good. I was there last year late December and it was okay but when is it supposed to actually be time for the perch? Thank you in advance !
Anyone catching steelhead or trout in the harbors ? Would salmon eggs work to catch Any of those fish ?
Just got a Daiwa Lexa Winn 300, wanna serve it as a swimbait / musky reel. I already have some couple swimbait / musky rods in mind that would work but just curious to see what your guys’s recommendations are, thanks:)
Asking to see what mini flukes and paddle tails work for walleye and saugers. Usually id ask r/fishingforbeginners but they usually dont work. Only stuff ive gotten to work was from store employees while shopping.
Short video one of the steelhead I caught today. Decent sized buck who’s probably been in for a while judging by the colors - I’ll post a crappy pic of him & the male colo I caught. Also had a hen that splashed out of my hands while i was debating on keeping it. Might go out tomorrow after this bit of rain, but I’ve got a sick kitten who cut this day short and needs my attention tomorrow
Hey was just wondering if anyone knew when boats/kayaks aren’t allowed at like Skokie lagoons or similar forest preserves?
Thank you in advance!
