Haven’t done much freshwater fishing before moved from east coast. Where should I buy a rod and go fishing for first time? Any recommendations on what lures or specific brands of rods to buy? Would love to go Coho fishing
With the Manns factory closing I’ve been trying to get my hands on some jelly worms before they’re gone. I went to the Bass Pro Shop in Bolingbrook and they have a big bin of all their leftover Manns stock and was able to grab a 20 pack of 8 inch grape jelly worms.
Hey fine fishin folks,
So fishing out of the harbors and on the lake from diversey, Belmont, montrose, etc.
I've heard a lot that you need to watch the wind for best fishing conditions.
Could someone explain to me what exactly that means and what the rules of thumb are?
Do you want the wind blowing into the harbor/pier? Down the coast? Up the coast does it depend?
Thx
Ps I found a good phone app called "windy.app" that is a weather app but also gives fish forecasts and shows wind direction and speed (has been very helpful for every day life too since I'm near the lake and have to deal with the wind outside of fishing.
I was catching them this time last year but the lake is a bit warmer this year so not sure if they're in close yet.
I’ve been reading a bunch of peoples comments about the dock passes that are supposed to go on sale soon but had some questions. How much are they usually and how long does it give you access for? I was hoping it would be till spring but I have no clue. Any info would be appreciated!
So I don't fish much, but my 9 year old is obsessed. I wanna take him somewhere besides the pond at the local park. I'm sure everyone has their secret spots, so I'm not looking to steal anyone's best places or anything. Just looking for some simple recommendations around dupage or cook county for a kid to get some action. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it
Montrose Harbor, fished for 7+ hours, got her on a KO Wobbler.
Curious if you have any suggestions on where and what to throw. I’m just getting started on fishing around the city.
Is anyone spotting native crayfish in or around Chicago? Any details appreciated, all I see are rusty crayfish.
Did anyone go for yellow perch yet ? I know the 87th slip is where most fishermen go but I have gone out to fish yet.
Got some flak in the trout fishing sub for claiming this wasn’t a stocked trout that I caught from Silver Lake a week ago. Some people were saying ita a hold over from years ago, others saying it spawned successfully. I’ve never heard of that, have any of you guys?
Anyone caught any yellow perch this month ? I know the 87th slip is known for their perch but I haven’t gone out yet
