There's Colorado and then there's fishing, we just put them together.
Colorado is incredible, from the highest peaks on the continent outside of Alaska to some of the driest deserts it has just about everything except an ocean contained all in one state. The sheer number of fishing opportunities are almost limitless and with this comes the daunting task of sorting through all the information out there and making sense out of it all. Thus r/cofishing, a place to compile the best of Colorado's fishing information in order to hopefully help a few anglers learn about new areas, new techniques, proper fishing etiquette and the rules that make fishing in this state great and hopefully catch more fish (or at least have more fun trying).
Anything helps: Conditions, hotspots, tips, techniques, new regs, old regs, ect....................
Things we tend to frown upon:
1) Blatant harassment of other users, education is a good thing but as long as an angler is within the law insults and other bashing will not be tolerated. If you disagree with methods/techniques that’s fine, by all means say so but keep it civil.
2) Non-Colorado related posts; it’s not called r/everywherefishing
3) Spam or self promoting links, if you have a site with good info please post it but don't use the sub just to boost your traffic or sell your stuff.
4) Breaking the law, if you post something here that is illegal we will call you on it, these include illegal bait usage, illegal harvest and bucket biology. Respect Colorado fish and waters.

Hs anyone been by dowdy yet? Has anyone ventured onto the ice yet? It’s been below freezing for a bit.
If you lost a hard-to-replace item in northern Colorado in the last week, please post here or dm me a description of the item and location. Really hoping to find its owner.
I like to catch and cook my own Walleye, but I do not get out enough. I live near Lafayette/Louisville and would like to find fresh Walleye dinner. Reel Fish had a great Walleye dinner. I am sad they closed.
Anyone know if there’s good ice on any lakes yet? I saw some folks on Georgetown last week.
Will carp bite this time of year?
I’m collecting carp ponds/lakes that have some good size carp (any type of carp) for next season don’t be afraid to drop them below 👇
Was fishing yesterday and trout were jumping and I caught a few but. Trying to figure out a way to catch more. Not looking to fly fish tho.
I’m off tomorrow and looking to try and get out and see if I can catch something. Would love some advice on some places within 2hrs of Denver that would be good this time of year and manageable for a newer angler. Appreciate any advice or recommendations.
Edit - I will be fly fishing.
What fish bite in this weather?
Edit: I will be bank fishing/wading
Any reason why the drive to deckers might be horrible over the next couple days with the snow we’re getting?
I have went a few times with just some powerbait and a few bass baits with no luck, anyone know good spots around the lake and what the fish like if there even is fish
I am a rod and real fisher located in cos and have a capable vehicle and am willing to drive 2 hours max any suggestions
Well I wasn't expecting this today, was a fun little surprise.
How rough are the roads to the Dream Stream via coming down from Breckenridge/Fairplay? I've heard there are some bad pot holes. Can a regular car make it safely? Thanks.
Hey guys I’m headed out Saturday morning to go try and test out some new waters. Been looking around and I’m torn between the two. I don’t have a preference on certain species I just want to get out and enjoy the outdoors. I’m also open to other spots! Just want to have a good day on the water :) I’m fly fishing btw
How’s the Poudre looking right now? Went two weeks ago and the water was crazy low in a lot of spots. Worth going up? I assume it’s too late to still use a hopper dropper set up? I’m super new to fly fishing. Pic of the last fish I caught
Doing an sat-sun overnight with a buddy and we have a few options but we’re both new to fly fishing and need some advice. Based on conditions, where should we go?
Hey all! Just got into fishing a few months ago and have really caught the bug! I’m looking to try to catch some Kokanee and have been seeing people post in Facebook groups plenty of them every day. Can anyone give some advice on where to go (in NOCO if possible) and what to use to try and catch them (spin fishing preferably)
Thanks in advanced!
I’ve fished my whole life, but only this summer have started to learn fly fishing. My knowledge of the names of flies isn’t great, so pictures would be very helpful!
What kind of flies should I be using during the fall and this time of year considering insect types still active, temps, etc.?
Does it matter what part of the state I’m in? North v south, east v west?
Thanks y’all
I live in northern NM and the water quality is rekt from big storms. How is it up on the Arkansas/South Platte? Any gauges/meters I can check online and what do I look for?
Are dry-dropper-dropper rigs permitted in CO? I can't find any regulations regarding this.
Hey everyone, I'm still getting the hang of trout fishing and usually stick to Waterton Canyon and Bear Creek. Wanted to see if anyone else notices similar patterns or has advice.
Waterton Canyon:
Bear Creek:
Anyone have tips for fishing spooky fish in Bear Creek or improving my luck near sunset? Would love to hear your thoughts!
When I show up to the river I typically start with a dry-dropper or a streamer. I'll switch to nymphing if its clear that fish are not willing to take a dry or a streamer.
Here's a pic of lunker I pulled out of Waterton during a Trico hatch!
Just looking to head out and catch some dinner.
I fish at a lake about 5/7 days a week and I have no clue when it’s getting stocked and I was just wondering
